So you want to play with terrain files?

On this page: Tips for Creating Heightfields and Details on Terrain RAW Files there is a sample terrain file....

I downloaded this, placed it in the opensimulator directory as "someland.raw" then did this on the console.

script terrain load someland.raw

Then connected to the sim, went to the estate tools and raised the water to oh... I think 40m or 35m, to give it some nice "ponds and rivers".

I wasn't able to use the estate tools to upload someland.raw but I am sure thats because I don't have an asset server running (you told me how to do this already :P )...

But I was able to use the estatemanager to DOWNLOAD the terrain after I edited it and smoothed it a bit. That was cool.

Anyway some fun stuff infos.
