Want to be notified when a page on this Wiki changes? It's easy.
Watch list
At the top of every page is a Watch tab.
- Login to wiki.secondlife.com .
- Go to a page you want to watch.
- Click the Watch link.
Updates appear on your My watchlist page, whose link is always shown towards the top-right of the page. You can watch as many pages as you'd like.
The Wiki also offers to inform you via e-mail when a page on your watchlist is changed. To activate this feature, proceed as follows:
- Access your Preferences.
- Enter a valid e-mail in the E-mail field.
- Check the E-mail me when a page on my watchlist is changed checkbox.
- Click the Save button.
- You'll receive an e-mail — check your spam folder to ensure it doesn't get lost — awaiting your confirmation. Afterwards, you'll receive a notification for each change to a page on your watchlist.
Note: You'll only be informed of changes which aren't flagged as a "minor" edit. Minor edits are usually corrections in spelling and similar. Checking E-mail me also for minor edits of pages also informs you about those. |
RSS & Atom
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and Atom (Atom Publishing Protocol) let you subscribe to a page. They have technical differences but the end benefit is the same: updates appear in a "feed" which is automatically refreshed.
On any regular Wiki page, there's a History tab link on top of the page. Clicking it leads you to the article's revision history. In a supported web browser like Firefox 3.5, you can see an RSS icon () in the location bar. For example, for this page, it's https://wiki.secondlife.com/w/index.php?title=Subscribe&feed=rss&action=history
. Click that icon to get the page's RSS link. You can bookmark this or add it to a feed reader.
If you're an info-holic, you can also subscribe to the feed of all changes on the Second Life Wiki. To do so, browse to Special:RecentChanges and proceed as before. Or look in the Toolbox on the bottom of the sidebar, which displays links for RSS and Atom.
The same is possible for any Category page, such as Category:Knowledge Base. However, these feeds are occasionally buggy. If you encounter problems, contact Torley.
