What land should I buy?

There is no single right answer, and depends on what you want to do. If you're uncertain, there's because there's plenty of room for exploration. Furthermore, what's right for you today may change as your needs grow.

Types of land

  • You can:
    • Buy land - Land use fees are paid to Linden Lab. Requires a Premium account.
    • Rent land - Land use fees are paid to a Resident "landlord".
  • Land can be:
    • Developed - Land has pre-built buildings on it, often for a theme that fits your needs.
    • Undeveloped - Land is basically blank or raw. Start from scratch to build your vision.
  • Land can also be on:

So for example, you could rent undeveloped land on a private estate. Or buy developed land on the mainland.

Also:

  • If you upgrade to a Premium account, a Linden Home is included. Learn more about account types.
  • If you want more space and flexibility, you can buy other land on the Linden-overseen mainland.
  • If your dreams are even bigger and you need the most control Linden Lab offers for your vision, you can buy a private region and become an estate owner. (A private estate consists of one or more private regions.)
  • And, many estate owners rent parcels in their regions to other Residents.
