Agenda

Updates

  • Exciting week. Poor Magnum had a script crasher. BlueSteel and LeTigre are looking good but we'll keep an eye on them.

  • BlueSteel RC Channel
  • This is the code that's been in a few RC's this year. It is looking stable.
  • How are the new features?
  • Features
  • New LSL function integer llSetRegionPos(vector position)
The object with the script will move the root prim position to the given location. The position is any position within the region. If the position is below ground, it will be set to the ground level at that X,Y spot. The function has no delay or throttle.
    • Returns 1 if the object is successfully placed within 0.1 m of position.
    • Returns 0 and does not move the object if position is more than 10m off region or above 4096m.
    • Returns 0 and does not move the object if the object is dynamic (has physics enabled).
    • Returns 0 and does not move the object if the object can not move to position due to object entry rules, prim limits, bans, etc.
  • "frame_number" option added to llGetEnv()
Returns an integer that represents the current 'frame' of the simulator. Generally only useful for specific debugging cases.
  • Bug Fixes

Upcoming Stuff

  • new region crossing fixes.

  • [15:00] Oskar Linden: hi rex
  • [15:00] Oskar Linden: and everyone
  • [15:00] Flip Idlemind: Hey cookie lovers
  • [15:00] Rex Cronon: hi oskar
  • [15:00] Kadah Coba: Yeah, then it could just get blacklist for being a spam relay :P
  • [15:00] Oskar Linden: so I am almost completely snowed in
  • [15:00] Oskar Linden: it's been snowing 5 days straight here in Seattle
  • [15:00] Kallista Destiny: with Cisco 1100 as their WAN connections
  • [15:01] TankMaster Finesmith: our snow turned to 2" of rain here in portland
  • [15:01] Jonathan Yap: Oskar, that's global warming for you
  • [15:01] Homeless: hi everyone
  • [15:01] Rex Cronon: hi homeless
  • [15:01] Theresa Tennyson: Oh, and Seattle's SOOO prepared for that too - I was there last winter.
  • [15:01] Oskar Linden: I went on a snowshoe hike through my town around midnight last night
  • [15:01] Jonathan Yap: How many inches on the ground in Seattle?
  • [15:01] Flip Idlemind: Kelly Linden is here
  • [15:01] Oskar Linden: I'm a few miles north of the city and have almost a foot
  • [15:01] Jonathan Yap: Seattle shuts down with >1 inch
  • [15:01] Flip Idlemind: My tool is disabled because the internet is falling apart ◯.(⁐)
  • [15:01] Rex Cronon: u can ski there:)
  • [15:02] Flip Idlemind: So my normal fancy greeter thing didn't go off
  • [15:02] Kallista Destiny: Yeah Seattle copes with Snow, like Washington DC does. It closes down
  • [15:02] Kadah Coba: What is this "snow" you speak of? :O
  • [15:02] Jonathan Yap: heck, you can still have fun driving around in 12 inches
  • [15:02] Oskar Linden: if only I could get my snowmobile working
  • [15:02] TankMaster Finesmith: we close down when its *going* to snow...
  • [15:02] Oskar Linden: so lots of fun in Seattle this week
  • [15:02] TankMaster Finesmith: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Seattle&state=WA&site=SEW&textField1=47.6218&textField2=-122.35&e=1
  • [15:02] Oskar Linden: since I can WFH I can't take a snow day
  • [15:02] Oskar Linden: evar
  • [15:03] Oskar Linden: D-:
  • [15:03] Kallista Destiny: I'd hat to think what would happen in LA if we had as much snow as that did in 1921 (~12 Inches)
  • [15:03] Oskar Linden: once it shifts to rain the snow goes away fast
  • [15:03] TankMaster Finesmith: suspets its going to there in a few days to
  • [15:03] TankMaster Finesmith: we are getting flooding ehre
  • [15:03] Rex Cronon: in winter phone and cable do go down:)
  • [15:04] Homeless: Only cold here in Chicago... just a dusting of snow on the ground
  • [15:04] Kadah Coba: huh, apparently its gonna rain tomorrow, and for most of the next half week. Huh.
  • [15:04] Kallista Destiny: There is a photo of them building the main library at UCLA with mules drawing the sone blocks on sledges through a foot of snow.
  • [15:04] Kallista Destiny: stone*
  • [15:04] Oskar Linden: alright
  • [15:04] Oskar Linden: so it looks like we have a small gathering
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: agenda notes here
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: and Kelly is here with cookies and milk
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: hoping you don't lynch him
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: Kelly's had a rough year
  • [15:05] Rex Cronon: hey kelly
  • [15:05] Oskar LindenOskar Linden gives Kelly a group hug
  • [15:05] Kelly Linden: o/
  • [15:05] ANSI Soderstrom: waves2kelly
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: llWaves2Kelly()
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: release this week was going well
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: Tuesday main channel deployed fine
  • [15:06] Flip Idlemind: Until...
  • [15:06] Kelly Linden: dun dun dun
  • [15:06] Jonathan Yap: llList2List
  • [15:06] Kelly Linden: psh, no one uses that.
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: but then we got to Magnum on Wednesday morning
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: and the function that no one uses had some issues
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: take it away kelly
  • [15:07] Kelly Linden: SVC-7604
  • [15:07] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7604] llList2List() causes script crashes in RC Magnum 12.01.14.247742 https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7604
  • [15:07] Kelly Linden: I believe I've fixed it, we have some of our test scripts in the comments in that jira.
  • [15:07] Kallista Destiny: well it got notices right quick, so clearly someone noticed
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: yeah it was uncovered quickly
  • [15:08] Kelly Linden: I'd really love help with: more eyeballs on the tests to make sure the coverage is good is always helpful, but also *testing real products* which are FAR more complex than those tests on the new code on aditi
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: Kelly has a deep and widespread network of ears to the ground
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: which regions have it on ADITI kelly?
  • [15:09] Theresa Tennyson: Is there a certain type of product that's more likely to be effected?
  • [15:09] Flip Idlemind: That's good news, because that version was supposed to have, what? 150x speed up in those list-y functions?
  • [15:09] Kelly Linden: The only way we won't have a repeat next week is if we get real products that were effected tested on aditi. Sandbox Goguen was what I was using, but I can double check.
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: yeah let us know
  • [15:09] Kelly Linden: Theresa: If you use llList2List(list,a,b) where a is larger than b was the specific bug, but anything that does list processing would be good to verify
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: there were a lot of issues with complicated products. we don't know the scope or how many. we rolled it back quickly.
  • [15:09] Kelly Linden: (actually it was specific corner cases of that a > b case)
  • [15:10] Oskar Linden: what we really need is as many people as possible to test objects they have that use these functions
  • [15:10] Theresa TennysonTheresa Tennyson mostly just has toys but doesn't know how they work.
  • [15:10] Kelly Linden: I see Ritch, Rosedale, Sandbox Goguen and Sandbox Island Extension as running the fix on Aditi now.
  • [15:10] Oskar Linden: ok
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: this is the full list of functions that have been touched in this release
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: llList2List

llDeleteSubList llGetListEntryType llListInsertList llListFindList llListReplaceList llDeleteSubString llStringLength llInsertString llSubStringIndex

  • [15:11] ANSI Soderstrom: oh
  • [15:11] Kelly Linden: They are fast now!
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: hopefully that list2list bug was the only one
  • [15:11] Kelly Linden: Also, it only effects scripts compiled to mono.
  • [15:12] Rex Cronon: r u expecting problems with the string functions?
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: but if you have products or know of products that using those functions it would be great to get them tested out
  • [15:12] Kelly Linden: I wasn't expecting problems with any of them.
  • [15:12] Flip Idlemind: Fast? Or, like, REALLY Fast!
  • [15:12] Kelly Linden: REALLY Fast! for some at least.
  • [15:12] Draconis Neurocam: well i use listfindlist and substringindex like no other, and ive not noticed issues with them
  • [15:12] Flip Idlemind: Woooo!
  • [15:12] Kelly Linden: the issues were only on magnum for a very short while.
  • [15:12] Kelly Linden: testing on aditi at the regions mentioned would help. :)
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: I'll send out some comms to the email list and agni group with this same info
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: we just need a verification that things work
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: but if you can pass on the info and link to this weeks usergroup transcript for info that would be appreciated
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: you can do in depth poking if you feel like it, but we just want to know that existing products are going to continue working
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: anything else kelly?
  • [15:14] Kelly Linden: That is all I have.
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: cool
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: where did maestro get to>
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: ?
  • [15:15] ANSI Soderstrom: lol ?
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: alright
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: so let's chat about the code that is out there
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: youve been waiting on this one for a while
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: anyone futzed with llSetRegionPos yet?
  • [15:16] Flip Idlemind: I have, in the sense that I've...
  • [15:16] Rex Cronon: wasn't that function rolled back?
  • [15:16] Flip Idlemind: made a way to "pretend" there's a PRIM_REGION_POS flag
  • [15:16] NeoBokrug Elytis: Are there any test regions next to each other where parcel settings are different across the border? Does llSetRegionPos check for that?
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: maestro is on his way
  • [15:17] NeoBokrug Elytis: And if so can llGetParcelFlags get that sort of update to go offregion a bit? :P
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: this code has been rolled back once
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: and it failed deploy once
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: well that was because of a datacenter outage
  • [15:18] Flip Idlemind: Oh gosh, llSetRegionPos causes datacenter outages!
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: on one of my sandboxes
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: ping me on agni neo. I can probably set something up
  • [15:18] Kallista Destiny: chuckles
  • [15:18] NeoBokrug Elytis: Will do.
  • [15:19] Rex Cronon: u see. behind the scenes it tries to move the sim to a different pos while the object stays in the same place;)
  • [15:19] llSetRegionPos Abstraction Example: Hello, Avatar!
  • [15:19] ANSI Soderstrom: Hello llSetRegionPos Abstraction Example with the UUID of c6403d30-4c0e-195a-d406-5acaeea52112
  • [15:20] Oskar Linden: whatcha got there ANSI?
  • [15:20] Oskar Linden: this region is kinda lagging out for me when I type
  • [15:20] Oskar Linden: hmm
  • [15:20] ANSI Soderstrom: its not me
  • [15:21] ANSI Soderstrom: i mean the lag
  • [15:21] Kallista Destiny: region is running at ~43 FPS
  • [15:21] Oskar Linden: Maestro had been tracking a bandwidth issue in the new code
  • [15:21] TankMaster Finesmith: its the snow, slows down the speed the photons travel through the fiber optic...
  • [15:22] Oskar Linden: if he was here he could talk about it :-p
  • [15:22] Oskar Linden: either I need to type slower or I need more things to discuss
  • [15:23] Kelly Linden: I've got a fix for that.
  • [15:23] Oskar Linden: oh?
  • [15:23] Oskar Linden: a fix for my fast typing?
  • [15:23] TankMaster Finesmith: any new projcts on the horizon to talk about?
  • [15:23] Flip Idlemind: For not having enough to discuss?
  • [15:23] Kelly Linden: that too
  • [15:23] Homeless: maybe your c-64 keyboard is finally wearing out?
  • [15:23] ANSI Soderstrom: old items lagging the sim if they move because the Physics shape is PRIM per default instead of "none"
  • [15:23] Oskar Linden: there is a maint-server coming up with some region crossing performance boosts
  • [15:24] Kallista Destiny: Heza gonna send da boiz to break yous fingers
  • [15:24] Oskar Linden: maestro says he can't log in
  • [15:24] TankMaster Finesmith: woot
  • [15:24] TankMaster Finesmith: have him contact support
  • [15:24] ANSI Soderstrom: then he shall fill a support ticket
  • [15:24] Kallista Destiny: lols It's not permium
  • [15:24] Rex Cronon: how weird. a linden that can't logi?
  • [15:24] Rex Cronon: login*
  • [15:24] Oskar Linden: maestro lol'd
  • [15:25] Flip Idlemind: I'll do this while we wait
  • [15:25] Flip Idlemind: scramble
  • [15:25] Oskar Linden: anyone experienced this: SVC-7608
  • [15:25] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7608] Sims are not visible when diagonally opposed. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7608
  • [15:25] Jonathan Yap: I may have noticed that on the mini-map
  • [15:25] Kallista Destiny: Yeah Sardar and Siba
  • [15:25] Oskar Linden: if you have any additional info please add it to that jira please
  • [15:26] Gooden Uggla: yes oscar, i can show you an example inworld
  • [15:27] Oskar Linden: if you update the jira then Maestro can run take a look
  • [15:27] Flip Idlemind: Or can he!?
  • [15:27] Oskar Linden: hah
  • [15:27] Oskar Linden: he can go and not take a look at diagonally aligned regions
  • [15:28] Oskar Linden: anything upcoming you're working on kelly?
  • [15:28] Kelly Linden: I am not working on anything exciting. I've fixed 2 rare crash bugs this morning and the bandwidth issue maestro mentioned.
  • [15:29] Oskar Linden: oh cool.
  • [15:29] NeoBokrug Elytis: What was happening with the bandwith thing?
  • [15:29] Oskar Linden: that was SVC-7613
  • [15:29] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7613] Greatly increased network activity since the 1/18/12 RC channel rolling restart https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7613
  • [15:29] Rex Cronon: kelly. u should have a blog where u record all those fixed rare crash bugs:)
  • [15:30] Oskar Linden: no
  • [15:30] Oskar Linden: those are best kept a secret
  • [15:30] Oskar Linden: kelly will publish them all in his memoirs
  • [15:30] Rex Cronon: haha
  • [15:30] arton Rotaru: when will the fix go live?
  • [15:31] Latif Khalifa: "How I Broke the Sexbedsk and Lived to Tell the Tale" :P
  • [15:31] ANSI Soderstrom: if you have time kelly, play with a TEMP_ON_REZ_DECAY for linksets ... which can be a float between 0.0 and 1.0 and is the vanish time of the prims in seconds
  • [15:31] ANSI Soderstrom: :)
  • [15:32] ANSI Soderstrom: please
  • [15:33] Oskar Linden: so it looks like poor maestro gave up on logging into aditi
  • [15:33] Oskar Linden: he's back to work testing on agni
  • [15:33] TankMaster Finesmith: odd
  • [15:33] ANSI Soderstrom: we have again much ghostet avatars.... maybe he is a victim
  • [15:34] TankMaster Finesmith: reboot SL to clear out all the chosts
  • [15:34] Oskar Linden: I don't think so
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: the ghosts go aay eventually
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: where is my ghost hunter anyway?
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: is she here today?
  • [15:35] Homeless: I couldn't login at all Tues evening... couldn't contact support cuz the web site was messed up also... weird
  • [15:35] Rex Cronon: the ghosts got her too?
  • [15:35] Gooden Uggla: restarting the sim gets rid of the ghosts
  • [15:36] ANSI Soderstrom: its not cool if the sim is restarted weekly
  • [15:36] Kallista Destiny: also 'touching' them aftr a few minutes make them poof
  • [15:36] ANSI Soderstrom: nope
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: well that is officially all I have to discuss
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: any topics of interest to you?
  • [15:37] NeoBokrug Elytis: Was the Map API thing I mentioned to you just a fluke? My regions are still showing up ocean blue. :)
  • [15:37] Oskar Linden: oh man, maestro left to get coffee
  • [15:38] NeoBokrug Elytis: The Wastelands
  • [15:38] Jonathan Yap: I noticed even less was showing on the map when zoomed way out
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: not sure Neo
  • [15:38] Flip Idlemind: So, the fancy "LR" functions like llTeleportAgent. Any idea when / if those are going to be released? Also I heard they would require some kind of "license" to use? Real or rumor?
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: I don't know of the timeline
  • [15:38] NeoBokrug Elytis: What Flip said.
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: All I know is what is in the blog post
  • [15:39] Latif Khalifa: it's not a rumor, Rodvik Linden blogged it
  • [15:39] Jonathan Yap: He also said something about a Q1 Pathfinder project
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: let me get that link
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/CEO-Rodvik-Humble-Shares-Highlights-From-2011-and-his-Outlook/ba-p/1298823
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: yeah that's it
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: as I have more details and as these projects reach the beta stage I will have more info
  • [15:41] Latif Khalifa: do you accumulate points on your scripting licese like you do in some countties on your drivers? :P 3 strikes and you're out ;)
  • [15:41] Gooden Uggla: any work on the ever annoying SVC-4632 lately?
  • [15:41] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-4632] People getting past Estate and Land bans https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4632
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: heh
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: good question latif
  • [15:41] Flip Idlemind: That worries me a bit. I've always liked the "anyone can join and start scripting" aspect of SL. How does one become "verified" if my question
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: I don't have any updates on that jira Gooden
  • [15:41] Flip Idlemind: And you probably don't know, but it's still my question
  • [15:41] Gooden Uggla: k
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: I don't know Flip
  • [15:42] Homeless: maybe the same way you get verified for mesh?
  • [15:42] Flip Idlemind: Hopefully it's the simple
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: I can see merit in having a verified program though
  • [15:42] Rex Cronon: i guess the more u pay the more verified u r
  • [15:42] NeoBokrug Elytis: They're powerful features.
  • [15:42] Flip Idlemind: But, what if it's like...you have to be an RL professional game developer?
  • [15:42] Homeless: especially if the functions have high griefing potential
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: then become an RL pro game developer
  • [15:42] Kallista Destiny: Soon you'll need a license to create a prim.
  • [15:43] ANSI Soderstrom: haha
  • [15:43] Gooden Uggla: flip raise your right hand and repeat after me "i can haz amd scriptz"
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: don't go overboard with speculating
  • [15:43] Homeless: yes, the legislation is in congress now
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: we'll figure it out as it comes
  • [15:43] Gooden Uggla: there, now you're verified
  • [15:43] ANSI Soderstrom: PG-Prim license and Aduld-Prim licenses
  • [15:43] Kallista Destiny: lols
  • [15:43] Homeless: maybe just payment info on file
  • [15:43] Latif Khalifa: "just"?
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: like I said I don't have any details yet
  • [15:43] Homeless: like mesh upload
  • [15:44] Homeless: and take a test
  • [15:44] Latif Khalifa: payment info is the evil thing stopping many from experimenting with mesh. it's a very bad mechanism to use
  • [15:44] Latif Khalifa: ask Rex ;)
  • [15:44] ANSI Soderstrom: its creating markets
  • [15:44] Rex Cronon: :)
  • [15:44] Flip Idlemind: Ok I won't go overboard with speculating. BUT, if I were to go overboard with speculating, I would say what if they start requiring a license to use any of the functions that currently request permission, like llStartAnimation?
  • [15:44] ANSI Soderstrom: wuld be cool if we have this for scripters too
  • [15:44] ANSI Soderstrom: then we dont have to script for 1L$ / hour
  • [15:44] Johan Laurasia: lol
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: this isn't really a meeting for speculating. I told you I'll let you know when I do
  • [15:45] Rex Cronon: i don't want to bore them that is why i say as little as possible about it:)
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: and have it on here for you to test as soon as possible
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: anything else to discuss?
  • [15:45] Gooden Uggla: Oskar is awesome like that
  • [15:46] Gooden Uggla: mardi gras plans?
  • [15:46] Johan Laurasia: Well, I think the market should control scripting quality to a degree. Better written, low impact scripts can be advertised with their impact value being a selling point, similar to prim count
  • [15:46] ANSI Soderstrom: anyone noticed that the avatar is pushed throught the whole sim after teleporting while flying enabled ?
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: I wish it worked like that. oftentimes poorly programmed things get a lock in a certain market segment and can't get shaken out
  • [15:47] Rex Cronon: is very simple. if people like, want what u script than they buy from u
  • [15:47] Gooden Uggla: i'd like to remind everyone that Mardis Gras is very early, February 21st, this year, sao make your party plans early
  • [15:47] Johan Laurasia: Yeah, but not if SL does what it can to promote low impact items
  • [15:47] NeoBokrug Elytis: Oftentimes aestetic appeal is greater than performance.
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: yup
  • [15:48] Oskar Linden: the same goes for RL marketplace items
  • [15:48] Johan Laurasia: yeah, that's true too
  • [15:48] Oskar Linden: the best technology often doesn't reach the top
  • [15:48] Homeless: probably 95% of the people are clueless about what performance even is
  • [15:48] Rex Cronon: "we wants bling" :)
  • [15:48] Oskar Linden: heh
  • [15:48] TankMaster Finesmith: performance is something you can never have to much of :D
  • [15:49] Kallista Destiny: I can haz bling?
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: to an extent worrying over percentages of script time shouldn't need to be everyones concern
  • [15:49] Johan Laurasia: Well, it's like this, I've been working at making meshes to upload, and I consider the impact the item is going to have, partly for it's appeal for it's low impactness, but at the same time, not give up appearance
  • [15:49] Johan Laurasia: I'm getting there actually
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: that's good
  • [15:50] Flip Idlemind: scramble
  • [15:50] Johan Laurasia: yeah, well, modeling is a tough thing to get a grip on, but I've been studying tutorials and such and recently have began to get a grip on how to make something rounded and smooth without using buckets of verts
  • [15:50] Oskar Linden: cool
  • [15:51] NeoBokrug Elytis: What a lot of my developer friends are doing is Model in a program of your choice, drag it through topogun to reduce the polys.
  • [15:51] NeoBokrug Elytis: Also topogun costs $100
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: like RL dollars?
  • [15:51] Johan Laurasia: Blender has decimate and remesh is coming down the pike too
  • [15:51] Flip Idlemind: I may be the only one who feels this way, but I find it much easier to build in SL than an "RL" modeling program because SL has, like...ground, and a sky, and people
  • [15:51] Flip Idlemind: Reference points, ya know
  • [15:51] NeoBokrug Elytis: Yeah
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: yikes
  • [15:52] Oskar Linden: I agree Flip
  • [15:52] Oskar Linden: I love building in SL
  • [15:52] Oskar Linden: I really like our build tools
  • [15:52] Johan Laurasia: Yeah flip it is definately a unique modeling environment
  • [15:52] Latif Khalifa: blender is killing of collada support altogether
  • [15:52] arton Rotaru: since mesh I haven't used a prim anymore ^^
  • [15:52] Flip Idlemind: Im not exactly "good" at it, but it's still easier than like Blender, even though others tell me Blender is super easy...
  • [15:52] Johan Laurasia: but modeling externally gives you the ability to be so much more efficient that SL prims can keep up with
  • [15:52] TankMaster FinesmithTankMaster Finesmith finds the build tools in stock V3 limiting...
  • [15:53] Latif Khalifa: flip, they're lying :P
  • [15:53] Latif Khalifa: nothing easy about blender
  • [15:53] arton Rotaru: blender isn't easy, but it can be fast compared to pro tools
  • [15:53] Johan Laurasia: heh
  • [15:53] Flip Idlemind: I can build simple things
  • [15:53] Flip Idlemind: Like cubes!
  • [15:53] Rex Cronon: my 3d modeler of choice is ArtOfIllusions:)
  • [15:53] Johan Laurasia: well, the newer interface is alot better
  • [15:54] Rex Cronon: and is easier than blender:)
  • [15:54] Johan Laurasia: Blender's really improved in recent times, go watch any 2.5+ tutorial to see the new interface
  • [15:54] Oskar Linden: anything else you want to discuss?
  • [15:54] Johan Laurasia: and there's alot more too with the new cycles rendering engine
  • [15:54] Homeless: mind is blank
  • [15:55] Johan Laurasia: I've been on hiatus so I'm clueless
  • [15:55] TankMaster FinesmithTankMaster Finesmith probably should refrain from what anonymous is doing...
  • [15:55] Rex Cronon: i kind of wonder, how hard is to add a new parameter to llRezObject? like a new string.
  • [15:56] Johan Laurasia: not at all
  • [15:56] Johan Laurasia: you could chat parameters to it
  • [15:56] Johan Laurasia: if you wanted
  • [15:56] Johan Laurasia: oh, I see what you mean
  • [15:56] Rex Cronon: i want to provide the string on rez. no chat
  • [15:56] Johan Laurasia: a new parameter to the function
  • [15:56] Rex Cronon: yes
  • [15:56] Johan Laurasia: what would it do?
  • [15:57] Kelly Linden: Hard
  • [15:57] Rex Cronon: maybe new llrezobj2?
  • [15:57] Flip Idlemind: That's slightly more complicated than you think (the chatting idea). You have to make sure the prim is listening before you chat to it, so you have to make it say "ready" or something
  • [15:57] Rex Cronon: i need parent to tell child some data without using chat
  • [15:57] Kelly Linden: use chat
  • [15:57] Rex Cronon: flip is right
  • [15:57] NeoBokrug Elytis: Integers for you!
  • [15:57] ANSI Soderstrom: is there a hope that we can get a new double type for lsl ?
  • [15:58] Johan Laurasia: not neccesarily, you can listen for a closed set pretty efficiently
  • [15:58] Flip Idlemind: Flip is always right
  • [15:58] Rex Cronon: int too short
  • [15:58] NeoBokrug Elytis: Bitwise?
  • [15:58] Kelly Linden: Not a lot of hope for new types in LSL
  • [15:58] Rex Cronon: chat is not that reliable, expecially if heavy lag
  • [15:58] Kelly Linden: same sim chat between objects should be reliable.
  • [15:58] Kelly Linden: it worst it may be slow.
  • [15:59] NeoBokrug Elytis: object_rez and llRegionSayTo ?
  • [15:59] Rex Cronon: well. if i rely on chat than parent can't die until it makes sure that child is up, running, go the message, and replied
  • [15:59] Script Counter:

Total Avatar Scripts - 940 Highest - arton Rotaru: 120 (13%) Lowest - Kelly Linden: 0 (0%)

  • [15:59] Rex Cronon: like 3-5 minutes slow, kelly
  • [16:00] Kelly Linden: Rex: That would surprise me a lot, for same sim chat.
  • [16:00] arton Rotaru: win^^
  • [16:00] Rex Cronon: i mean really havy chat
  • [16:00] Flip Idlemind: I have a fairly good "rez a prim with arbitrary parameters" system here
  • [16:00] Oskar Linden: alright everyone
  • [16:00] Oskar Linden: it's 4pm
  • [16:00] Oskar Linden: thanks much for coming
  • [16:00] Rex Cronon: like when the sim is almost ready to die
  • [16:00] Johan Laurasia: thanks oskar
  • [16:00] TankMaster Finesmith: have a great friday, oskar
  • [16:00] Johan Laurasia: and kelly
  • [16:00] Rex Cronon: tc oskar
  • [16:00] Oskar Linden: have a good weekend
  • [16:00] Gooden Uggla: thanks
  • [16:00] Oskar Linden: I'll see you on AGNI
  • [16:00] Gooden Uggla: have a good one
  • [16:01] Homeless: have a good weekend everyone!
