[13:06] Kate Linden: Hi Fisher :)
[13:07] Youri Ashton: hey torley!
[13:07] Jeremy Linden: You mean the jello on this platform doesn't convince you of Jon's presence?

[13:08] Youri Ashton: noticed Sejong bieng in the sim as well
[13:08] Jeremy Linden: So, what's new with everyone this week?
[13:08] Youri Ashton: he's up there at his office for some time now
[13:08] Marianne McCann: Ya, I believe Sejong's parcel is jes down the way
[13:08] Youri Ashton: wb torley
[13:08] yuki Xiao: welcome back watrmelon thingy
[13:08] Torley Linden: OH FRIENDLY GREETINGS, I had to relog, was on wrong Viewer version. :D

[13:08] Torley Linden: Glad to see each & all of you!
[13:08] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:08] Marianne McCann: Been a busy one, Jeremy. Packing up Burning Life stuff over the weekend, back to working on stuff in Bay City and elsewhere
[13:08] Marianne McCann has pinged you.
[13:09] Youri Ashton: lol, you dont want to know how many viewers i have torley ;)
[13:09] Marianne McCann: Welcome Back, Torley
[13:09] Torley Linden: Clexor, glad you could make it to our Office Hours
[13:09] Clexor Denfu: I had to run home to make it
[13:09] yuki Xiao: looks fluffy the green thing
[13:10] Youri Ashton: he likes to keep warm :)
[13:10] Bronson Blackadder: I been patiently awaiting contact from LL employment
[13:10] Torley Linden: ^_^ Clexor, I'm really glad you asked about my Here acquisition process, it's a testing facility, showcase of eclectic content, and resources center all in one!
[13:10] Youri Ashton: where you got that av btw torley?
[13:10] Daniel Voyager: hows the new second life knowlege base coming along? :)
[13:10] yuki Xiao: would make a nice blanket his fur
[13:10] Torley Linden: Youri, Yoa Ogee gave it to me... a rather nice surprise which keeps me warm in the winter.
[13:10] Bronson Blackadder: oh hell Torley prolly made it]
[13:10] Kate Linden: Our big company announcement today is introduction of Second Life Enterprise: https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/workinginworld/blog/2009/11/04/introducing-second-life-enterprise-now-in-beta-and-second-life-work-marketplace
[13:10] Marianne McCann: Toa Ogee makes some amazing stuff
[13:10] Fisher Linden: World's Greatest Smile, Yeti's & Yoa's art, New Trails (92, 207, 23)
[13:11] Torley Linden: Daniel, it's fantastic thanks! We should have Google search soon. I did 100s of edits recently from small tweaks to major rewrites to new articles, focusing on hot, practical stuff.
[13:11] Torley Linden: Fisher, you've been there before?
[13:11] Fisher Linden: not yet, but it looks cool
[13:11] Daniel Voyager: Thats great. :)
[13:12] Torley Linden: Kate let me know earlier today that Xstreet help links to the Wiki category, so the (good) pressure is on! I did a long-awaited rewrite last week, and soon, more videos and collecting tips from Residents. Oh!
[13:12] Torley Linden: Anyone have any Xstreet tips & tricks? I'm blogging a series. :D
[13:12] Marianne McCann: One thing I noticed recently is that ther eis no wiki article specific to covenants, either explainging them, giving advice on filling them out, or rules on following them. At least not anything specific.
[13:12] Torley Linden: On http://secondlife.com/tnt , Suella brought up the remote deposit box which I had neglected to mention.
[13:13] Torley Linden: Marianne, that's a GREAT question. Was working on that earlier today: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Covenants What do you want added?
[13:13] Marianne McCann: Good job, Torley. I'll look that over in a moment!
[13:13] Kate Linden: I've been going through our web site and finding links to the ole KB, and we're getting them converted to the KB wiki articles. Xstreet help links were updated today.
[13:14] Torley Linden: I also renamed that page to make it easier to find, and let me emphasize Google search > MediaWiki's built-in search and it'll be wayyy easier to casually look up stuff AND narrow in with fancy-schmancy Boolean operators.
[13:14] Marianne McCann: As a seller, I suggest making sure your magic box is located at your store location, as we all using your information in item listens to also help drive people to and from your inworld storefront
[13:14] Marianne McCann: Mr RjDj!
[13:15] Torley Linden: I mentioned that and that can certainly (continually) be promoted, Mari. I remember when old Magic Boxes were hidden away and couldn't be clicked on to go to the web storefront! This helps make a connection!
[13:15] Torley Linden: WOW GLOW
[13:15] Marianne McCann: Ya, it really helps to build that link between XStreet and your inworld location. For both the seller and buyer, really
[13:15] Torley Linden: I'm listening to the Deus Ex soundtrack right now, maybe not thematically sensible but it sure feels dramatic.
[13:15] Clexor Denfu: brb guys I have to go make sure my neew alarm system works
[13:15] Marianne McCann: I will often find a listing on XStreet, then use that to find a cool store inworld
[13:16] Kate Linden: Hey Dizzy :)
[13:16] Dizzy Banjo: greetigns
[13:16] Dizzy Banjo: hi
[13:16] Dizzy Banjo: i saw your tweet Torley and thought id pop over to say hello :)
[13:16] Torley Linden: Helping bring sellers and buyers together is a big thing. A lot of people who aren't familiar with SL still think user-created content is a new-fangled thing. I travel to and fro like that, Mari. Pre-Halloween Kate wore a cupcake hat and I went inworld to Elise Capalini's store... then saw her Magic Box.
[13:16] Torley Linden: Y HELO THAR DIZZY :)
[13:17] Torley Linden: http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/4052238802/in/photostream/
[13:17] Marianne McCann: Definitely Torley. I've had folks find my little store in Bay City by first finding me on XStreet. I suspect the opposite is true, too.
[13:17] Dizzy Banjo: how was the virtual halloween this year ? i msised it..
[13:18] Youri Ashton: i actually find a problem with that box, which is if you dont own land, you simply can not place it anywhere
[13:18] Youri Ashton: meaning you can not sell anything
[13:18] Torley Linden: I was mostly on my alt, ha ha... she is wicked. But I did come by for the Halloween Haunting in the Cornfield!
[13:18] Youri Ashton: bad for the SL economy
[13:18] Dizzy Banjo: last year i remember seeing TrickorTreat Linden with a severe case of some kind of dietry ailment...
[13:18] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:18] Torley Linden: Youri, there's a 60-day trial and other people have cheap land rental services. It may be a bit of a chicken-and-egg situation but, once you get some sales, it can often pay for itself.
[13:18] yuki Xiao: the famous cornfield?
[13:19] Marianne McCann: Ya, I was sad to not see TrickOrTreat about this year at all
[13:19] Torley Linden: Yes! That Cornfield! The one and the same! Was opened to the public, yarrr.
[13:19] Dizzy Banjo: oh wow there is a surname Blackadder.. im sure someone has Edmund..
[13:19] yuki Xiao: oh cool
[13:19] Daniel Voyager: Me too. I did not see TrickOrTreat Linden. o.o
[13:19] Nicholas Hawthorne: ☆*¨¨*:•.•:*¨* hallo hello hi holla *¨¨*:•.•:*¨*☆
[13:19] Dizzy Banjo: is the cornfield open all the time now ?
[13:19] Dizzy Banjo: or do we have to be naughty again to get there ?
[13:19] Marianne McCann: Dizzy - I think it was only open for the event, but I've not gone back by to check
[13:19] Bronson Blackadder: whos edmund?
[13:19] Youri Ashton: its still a trial torley, if each resident was allowed to place 1 xstreet magic box somewhere in a xstreet sim, then the problem may be solved (unless they already own land)
[13:20] Torley Linden: Youri, well, that might get crowded too. Sounds like there's an opportunity there for someone to capture at a reasonable rate.
[13:20] Youri Ashton: just thinking alog of course
[13:20] Nicholas Hawthorne is still loading "sigh"
[13:20] Torley Linden: Eventually I agree tho, there's a common trend of more integration.
[13:21] Torley Linden: Barriers between web interface and inworld stuff need to be broken down.
[13:21] Torley Linden: I hate feeling frustrated when I'm trying to do something to benefit someone else, like send them money.
[13:21] Daniel Voyager: Knows of a Corn Field region next door to Bay City. Been there only once. lol
[13:21] Youri Ashton: there might be indeed, i did see the xstreet HQ has a tower for only a few boxes, however, you have to be on a list that may takes ages to get a free spot
[13:21] Marianne McCann: Looking at the covenants article, Torley, I note that some will use covenants to list their code of conduct for visitors, without realizing that one has to visit the sim int he first place to read the covenant. I don't know if there's a good solution to that, but might be worth noting that informationy ou want people to see before going to an estate mightbe best served in parcel description?
[13:21] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: hi fischer
[13:21] Marianne McCann: Just a thought. Maybe there's a better way
[13:21] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: and jeremy
[13:21] IfuggUrWorld Abbot has pinged you.
[13:22] Jeremy Linden: Uh, hi.
[13:22] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: and kate
[13:22] Clexor Denfu: Back
[13:22] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:22] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: nice to meet you
[13:22] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: are you going to logg me off ?`
[13:22] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: before telling me why ?
[13:22] Youri Ashton: i have a strange feeling...
[13:22] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: or sending me NO email ?
[13:22] Youri Ashton: that somethign is aobut to happen...
[13:22] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i dont know to who i can talk
[13:23] Marianne McCann: Youri, is your common sense tingling?
[13:23] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: no support on phone and something
[13:23] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol torley, what are you?
[13:23] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: so iam here now
[13:23] Youri Ashton: lol, yup mari
[13:23] Torley Linden: Yes, if that could be longer, Mari — 'cause peeps also use description for other things like keyword or selling points of the land as you know. Long ago, I suggested a Covenant could appear in Place Information, or a button to it. Other people stuff that info in a notecard (like RPG Regions).
[13:23] Torley Linden: Nicholas, I'm hot fuzz!
[13:23] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: oh hi roeley
[13:23] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:23] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: torley you are the best
[13:23] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: you are the best linden
[13:23] Nicholas Hawthorne: YESH
[13:23] Youri Ashton: lmao
[13:23] Torley Linden: oh lulz hy ifug wuts up
[13:23] Marianne McCann: Ya, that would be handy, to be able to see it before heading into a region. Especially for RP sims
[13:23] Kate Linden: This is the Documentation Team office hour. You're welcome to join in our disucssion. We're on the topic of Xstreet.
[13:23] Nicholas Hawthorne: not "the" best linden, but one of them
[13:24] Torley Linden: Yes, only the best watermelon one.
[13:24] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: hes the best
[13:24] IfuggUrWorld Abbot whispers: he helps people in SL
[13:24] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: your videos rocks
[13:24] Marianne McCann: "Best Linden" would be so subjective. Best in different categories, f'r sure
[13:24] Torley Linden: How did you find my videos?
[13:24] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: on secondlife page
[13:24] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: im no newbie
[13:24] Torley Linden: If I'm good, it's because I made you better. ;)
[13:24] Nicholas Hawthorne: blue lien has to be the best, althought the videos are awesome
[13:24] yuki Xiao: why does it makes me nervous to be surrounded by lindens? :p
[13:24] Nicholas Hawthorne: linden*
[13:25] Youri Ashton: i have a feeling your account got suspended, banned or something similar, and now trying to suckup to try and get it back? yesh? :)
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: blue is lazy
[13:25] Youri Ashton: hi jonit
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i got one time spammed
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: with an scripts
[13:25] Nicholas Hawthorne: LOL
[13:25] Jonit Ivory: hey
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: green message
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: couldnt do anything
[13:25] Clexor Denfu: I don't kno if someone said it already, but Torley you could do a quicktip on the account menu
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i put AR
[13:25] Torley Linden: *awkard pause*
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: nothing
[13:25] Clexor Denfu: on xstreet
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i imed him
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: told him where it is
[13:25] Marianne McCann: Youri - if memory serves, there's some rule about circumventing an account ban by using an alt, ya?
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: to please remove these objects
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: and he DIDNT it
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: said wait for AR
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: they will help
[13:25] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: wow
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i think
[13:26] Youri Ashton: mari - so far i know you can use a alt, but not during being banned or being suspended
[13:26] Nicholas Hawthorne: ok so you had a bad experience with him, doesn't mean every single resident has a problem with him
[13:26] Youri Ashton: even if its for a day
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: lindens donat matter in what they work they could help
[13:26] Jonit Ivory: how is everyone?
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: same like when i see a cop on a street
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: and one ripped me off
[13:26] Torley Linden: Clexor, I plan to as part of my series. Anything in particular? =)
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: the cop will help me
[13:26] Marianne McCann: Right. You can have one, but not to get around a suspension. Something like that. I don't recall.
[13:26] Youri Ashton: meaning if he is a alt, then he is workign against the tos
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: dont matter if he write a wrong parking car at this moment
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: who me ?
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: no
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i canceled my old account
[13:26] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i went out of drama
[13:27] Youri Ashton: 11/4/2009
[13:27] yuki Xiao: Eep! o.O
[13:27] yuki Xiao: a giant spider
[13:27] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: my SL love harassed me
[13:27] Nicholas Hawthorne: AAAHHhh!
[13:27] Daniel Voyager: run!
[13:27] Kate Linden: Torley, what do you have planned for yoru series so far?
[13:27] Clexor Denfu: not really Torley, I have it pretty down pat but i kno a video would've helped me when i started looking at it
[13:27] Youri Ashton: your name isnt really nice towards other residents either, but i guess thats matter of taste
[13:27] Nicholas Hawthorne wishes scripts were activated and build :D
[13:28] Torley Linden: Kate, it's half-planned, the other half is improvised. (You knew that was coming, haha.) Really key stuff first, like how to search.
[13:28] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: youri, i dont like your name too
[13:28] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol i would totally burn the spider if build and scripts were enabled :D
[13:28] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: but i have to live with it
[13:28] Jonit Ivory: ifugg? were'nt you just at Nyx's OH? maybe it's the sweater
[13:28] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:28] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: where ?
[13:28] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: now im lost
[13:28] Jonit Ivory: I am dealing with aracnophobia, trust me, i want to burn me too
[13:28] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:28] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:29] Jonit Ivory inserts a h
[13:29] yuki Xiao: *giggles!*
[13:29] Marianne McCann: I don't know if there is one already, but it would be nice to see a single video that describes the hard-core basics. How to sit, walk, talk (text, IM, and voice), and maybe how to wear or attach things. Just the bare bones without a lot of estras. The 5 minute crash course video
[13:29] Kate Linden: I like when you improvise Torley!
[13:29] Youri Ashton: i didnt mean that part. i ment that your name isnt nice towards residents that dont do anything wrong and may even be offending
[13:29] yuki Xiao: whaat a dilemma
[13:29] Torley Linden: Clexor, ahh. Yes, well videos are part of it for sure, I've done some already and will make ones, especially where there's some sort of series of steps that are good to watch in action.
[13:29] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: kate, short question... are you able to date in SL ?
[13:29] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol did everyone wait to type all at the same time?
[13:29] Torley Linden: Kate the awesome thing is being bombarded by tips from Resis who go "OH YOU LEFT THIS OUT" and I'm like "D'oh, I did, gotta promote it more."
[13:30] Bronson Blackadder: o
[13:30] Bronson Blackadder: m
[13:30] Bronson Blackadder: g
[13:30] Youri Ashton: ...
[13:30] Nicholas Hawthorne: ifugg why would you even ask that question
[13:30] Kate Linden: Absolutely Torley
[13:30] Youri Ashton: told ya, i had a strange feleing about him :p
[13:30] Nicholas Hawthorne: YESH
[13:30] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: just a question
[13:30] Youri Ashton: oh well, ignoring him, lets continue, before i really cant stop laughing :p
[13:30] Torley Linden: Mari, as videos are being tied closer with accompanying text, I've put a number of the brief 1-2 min. quick tip videos next to their appropriate subjects. E.g., http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Moving_your_avatar
[13:30] Nicholas Hawthorne: well you could im her instead of saying it out loud to all of us
[13:31] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: ok
[13:31] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: ill do
[13:31] Nicholas Hawthorne: AAAHHhh!
[13:31] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: sorry
[13:31] Clexor Denfu accepted your inventory offer.
[13:31] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: and im quiet now
[13:31] Marianne McCann: Ya, I've sent folks to ones like that. I was just thinking of a "here, watch this one thing and it will get you going"
[13:31] Nicholas Hawthorne: torley i would look behind you if i were you
[13:31] Jonit Ivory: shhhh, I am hiding
[13:31] Torley Linden: What's worked really well over time are shorter videos, each for a specific topic/activity. Then they can be modularized easier, plus people have short attention spans. Not sure if I'd do multiple topics all in one video but, perhaps at least compile them on a single page if someone's understandably impatient.
[13:32] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol don't make me change into my big version of this av, you really don't want to see it
[13:32] Torley Linden: I have a super-short attention span so I usually am editing 3-4 topics at a time. LOL.
[13:32] Youri Ashton: now dont eat torley, jonit! we need him longer then today! :)
[13:32] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:32] Torley Linden: (Usually related ones, helps to see the connections.)
[13:32] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:32] Marianne McCann: That might work, ya. And definitely short and sweet. Esp, for enterprise folks, they don't want a lot, just 1, 2, 3, done ssorta stuff.
[13:32] Nicholas Hawthorne: and you do not want me to change avs,
[13:33] Marianne McCann: (thoguh they'll be over in a certian midwestern state) /me winks
[13:33] Jonit Ivory nods, and Torley, it's nice to see them getting exposure on teh new SL website, much more accesible, but if they were also hosted by you there, it would be much more swish
[13:33] Marianne McCann: I'd also ove to see some quick video or... something... to help answer the big "I'm bored" question. A quick thing on "search for your interests' or using the events calendar or whatever as an all in one to answer the question
[13:33] Jonit Ivory: as opposed to vimeo etc
[13:33] Youri Ashton: dont make me change either, specially powerup :p
[13:33] Torley Linden: Yeah that is really, really practical Mari. It's just such a human, common need. That ties into pages like Discover on the Wiki, too.
[13:33] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol my big av couldn't even fit into a normal building happyt
[13:33] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:33] Torley Linden: And always feel free to edit and start new pages, lots of ideas out there I get surprised by (and delighted by).
[13:34] Daniel Voyager: lol, Nicholas.
[13:34] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol you've seen it daniel havn't you?
[13:34] Daniel Voyager: yes
[13:34] Torley Linden: Jonit, can you expand more on that please? How do you mean, "hosted"? :)
[13:34] Marianne McCann: Ya. From time spent around the hubs, it seems like most of the folks there have three basic questions. "how do I make money," "How do I do, um, 'zindra things'," and "what is there to do cuz I'm bored"
[13:34] Youri Ashton: havnt been doing anything related to SL past week, only started again today
[13:35] Jonit Ivory: Well you use external providers for your video feed
[13:35] Dizzy Banjo: ah i should go, its really nice to see you all :)
[13:35] Youri Ashton: guildwars had halloween weekend
[13:35] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: bye dizzy
[13:35] Dizzy Banjo: take care :)
[13:35] Torley Linden: Are you referring to http://secondlife.com/video , Jonit? That frames the Vimeo/VodPod player in the Second Life site design.
[13:35] Torley Linden: Take care Dizzy!
[13:35] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:35] Jonit Ivory: Yes, but Vimeo is on your boxes?
[13:35] Youri Ashton: go to his island, its covered with his vids :)
[13:35] Torley Linden: No, Vimeo is an external service. I haven't found another I prefer more (and it's not feasible to start our own).
[13:36] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:36] Jonit Ivory: no?
[13:36] Torley Linden: I still upload to YouTube et al. though.
[13:36] Bronson Blackadder: yep
[13:36] Jonit Ivory: hmm, something LL branded on S£ should go
[13:36] Youri Ashton: Here island is also great to explore, always great new things :)
[13:36] Bronson Blackadder: seen those
[13:36] Jonit Ivory: S3
[13:36] Jonit Ivory: Gah
[13:36] Jonit Ivory: I hate the shift key
[13:36] Marianne McCann: That's such a creepy avvie Jonit.
[13:36] Marianne McCann: (That's meant as a compliment, too!)
[13:36] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:36] Jonit Ivory: I know, I will become creeped myself soon, choice is to go for a Thanksgiving turkey, or hold out for a snowman
[13:36] Torley Linden: Jonit, I upload higher-quality videos there, but they're not Flash or wrapped especially, it'd take too much work to do that ourselves. What's the disadvantage of having them hosted externally if it's (1) robust and (2) can easily be integrated on our own pages?
[13:37] Jonit Ivory: None, it's a branding issue
[13:37] Marianne McCann: Well, the seasons in SL seem to be a bit odd. Really, I expect the grid to break out in snow and stuff by the weekend
[13:37] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:37] Nicholas Hawthorne: jonit wear a dragon av if you hold out for being a snowman
[13:38] Jonit Ivory nods, I have a very large one, I think teh ARC is nasty
[13:38] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: your avi rocks torley
[13:38] Torley Linden: WHY THANK YOU
[13:38] Bronson Blackadder: yay!
[13:38] Marianne McCann: Jonit - one of the ones from Aggro? Those are outstanding
[13:38] Jonit Ivory: Umm let me check
[13:38] Clexor Denfu: all his avvies rock
[13:38] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: i want an avi like this too
[13:38] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:38] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: do you have any old what you dont use for me ?
[13:38] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: look at me
[13:38] Jonit Ivory: it is called Seawolf
[13:38] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: im ugly
[13:38] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: lol
[13:38] Youri Ashton: oh, think a good thing for the doc team, i finished some help files on my blog. think i told kate already some time ago.
[13:38] Nicholas Hawthorne: YESH
[13:38] Torley Linden: Share URL, please, Youri!
[13:38] Nicholas Hawthorne: i'm wearing the biped dragon of seawolf
[13:39] Youri Ashton: anyways, there are 2 files on there now and soon more to come
[13:39] Youri Ashton: http://brp.ds9lego.com/
[13:39] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: hoook me up buddie
[13:39] yuki Xiao: jeremy...
[13:39] yuki Xiao has pinged you.
[13:39] Jeremy Linden: Yes?
[13:39] Jonit Ivory: Yes, the biped came in teh box, awesome detail
[13:39] yuki Xiao: IM
[13:39] Marianne McCann: Oh ya
[13:39] Jeremy Linden: It says you're still typing :-P
[13:39] yuki Xiao: oh
[13:39] Nicholas Hawthorne: biped was with the purchase of the bigger versions, adult, and ancient
[13:40] Jonit Ivory: I have Adult I think
[13:40] Nicholas Hawthorne: ancient ones rock!
[13:40] Marianne McCann: Ya, I've eyed those ones myself. But it is so rare that I'll change avvies
[13:40] Jonit Ivory: so many cool avatars in SL :)
[13:40] Torley Linden: Alas I have no avatars to donate.
[13:40] Nicholas Hawthorne: hehe
[13:40] Marianne McCann: Can't justify that sorta money on it
[13:40] Torley Linden: There's no shortage of badss ones as Jonit mentions, tho. :)
[13:40] IfuggUrWorld Abbot: awww
[13:40] Youri Ashton: all help files will need further details and updates, but its just a starting idea, i am happy if anyone can add new things that may be good to add
[13:40] Torley Linden: Er, I meant "badass". :)
[13:40] Marianne McCann: Ya, an places like Grendel's Children has some amazing ones for seriously low prices
[13:40] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:41] Torley Linden: Grendel's Children figured out a way to do quality in quantity.
[13:41] Youri Ashton: grendels is a great place :)
[13:41] Nicholas Hawthorne: well if your like me who changes every few weeks/days, these avs are worth the price
[13:41] Youri Ashton: doing a blog about that place soon
[13:41] Bronson Blackadder: yeah grendals is pretty low cost as well
[13:41] Nicholas Hawthorne: plus you can scare people being so big hehehe
[13:41] Marianne McCann: I have a tone of theirs Never wore most of them, but it's like "What? An avatar that cool for only L$20? I'd be crazy not to!"
[13:41] Jonit Ivory: So, teh behind the firewall solution is open!
[13:41] Jonit Ivory: http://work.secondlife.com/en-US/products/serverfaq/
[13:42] Jonit Ivory: has a huge copy/paste error
[13:42] Torley Linden: I notice both Mari and Laurent have an accent aigu in your nametags.
[13:42] Jonit Ivory: is it teh doc team?
[13:42] Youri Ashton: interresting
[13:42] Marianne McCann: yup!
[13:42] Clexor Denfu: Torley, Ikno you can't do an sl vidut on it, but it would be nice if you blogged o something about all theplaces you get your AWESOME avatars
[13:42] Clexor Denfu: or*
[13:42] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:42] Marianne McCann: I bet writign abotu that wouudl take more'n a week
[13:42] Marianne McCann: (darn fingers!)
[13:42] Torley Linden: Hahaha Torley's guide to AWESOME SHOPPING. A lot of the times they show up on my Flickr photostream tho, do you know where that is?
[13:43] Clexor Denfu: I will find it
[13:43] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[13:43] Torley Linden: I try to attribute as best as I can, sending photos and making brief notes is fabulous for jogging the ol' memory later http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/
[13:43] Marianne McCann: Reminds me, there is some seirous awesome, sprouting out of IBM 2 right now. Madcow Cosmos strikes again
[13:43] Youri Ashton: oh, torley, you will be getting a new avi from me soon, from my alt that is. finishing it up still tho
[13:43] Torley Linden: Is that goblins vs. children or another one, Mari?
[13:44] Torley Linden: Oh thanks Youri.
[13:44] Jonit Ivory: he needs to be a spider
[13:44] Youri Ashton: tiny hippo
[13:44] Marianne McCann: Torley - that's only a part of it. The biggie is the Joy of Music portion, in the air
[13:44] Jonit Ivory nods sagely
[13:44] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:44] Nicholas Hawthorne: torley, as a giant spider
[13:44] Nicholas Hawthorne: AAAHHhh!
[13:44] Torley Linden: Ahh yes the giant pipe organ!
[13:44] Marianne McCann: yup!
[13:44] Clexor Denfu: a watermelon giant spider
[13:44] Youri Ashton: lemme see if i have a version on this av
[13:44] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:44] Nicholas Hawthorne: or a giant organ of the body
[13:44] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:44] Marianne McCann: An other stuff. He's gone giant musical stuff up ti abotu the 1000m level now
[13:45] Torley Linden: The other me ran into Kitten Soup there, she had a neat animation overrider that made her hands roll in loops when she was typing.
[13:45] Torley Linden: HOLY CRAP TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA IS A LAST NAME!?
[13:45] Bronson Blackadder: I can see torley as a green and pink set of kidneys
[13:45] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:45] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: lol, yup :)
[13:45] Torley Linden: I never noticed that before. XD
[13:45] Clexor Denfu: OH SNAP
[13:45] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:45] Jonit Ivory: it is?
[13:45] Torley Linden: That's pretty awesome.
[13:45] Daniel Voyager: lol
[13:45] Nicholas Hawthorne: AAAHHhh!
[13:45] Marianne McCann: That's what I was just thinking, Torley. Great last name
[13:45] Jonit Ivory: you'd have to save that login
[13:45] Clexor Denfu: bet no one can pronounce it tho
[13:45] Torley Linden: Is anyone else into BSG? The upcoming Caprica?
[13:45] Youri Ashton: there we go
[13:46] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol i would not even try that last name
[13:46] Marianne McCann: It'll be interesting to see how Caprica works out
[13:46] Bronson Blackadder: whats BSG?
[13:46] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: I"m shocked torley spelled the name correctly... took me weeks to learn how to do that, lol
[13:46] Torley Linden: Battlestar Galactica.
[13:46] Marianne McCann: At long as it's not Galactica:1980
[13:46] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:46] Marianne McCann winks
[13:46] Clexor Denfu: copy and paste
[13:46] Torley Linden: Haha Mari, with the disco! Not good disco, either!
[13:46] Marianne McCann: Ya! Very bad disco!
[13:47] Torley Linden: I'm reading the Second Life Work documentation, this cracks me up: "And, if someone isn’t paying attention for a few minutes, then that person’s avatar slumps forward and it’s almost as embarrassing as falling asleep during a physical meeting."
[13:47] Jonit Ivory: green blob edible?
[13:47] Torley Linden: Don't eat the faux-Jon! He's sacred!
[13:47] Nicholas Hawthorne so wants to freez or burn the spider, but no scripts or build :(
[13:47] Youri Ashton: lol
[13:47] Jonit Ivory nods, I am delaing with an RL issue
[13:47] Jonit Ivory whispers: I hate spiders!
[13:47] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:47] yuki Xiao: yeah ,sometimes i wonder who is creating the sl last names.there are some pretty funny ones
[13:47] Nicholas Hawthorne: YESH
[13:48] Clexor Denfu: i thought mine was pretty weird
[13:48] Torley Linden: I mention Caprica because it has some very SL-like themes.
[13:48] Marianne McCann: Oh ya. I can't tell you how many times I've had to deal with that from working with academics in here. Them going way in the middle of a meeting
[13:48] Torley Linden: The opening scene takes place in a nightclub, in fact! Not appropriate for younger viewers.
[13:48] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:48] Jonit Ivory: ahh I remember nightclubs
[13:48] Jonit Ivory sighs
[13:49] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol can someone put build and scripts on :D
[13:49] Torley Linden: Haha Mari, just the other day I was attending an internal training meeting and Ryan Linden had to remind the dude to jiggle his mouse so he wouldn't go AFK.
[13:49] Marianne McCann: yup!
[13:49] Clexor Denfu: I ned some food, brb again.
[13:49] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:50] Jonit Ivory expects a vidtut on jiggling (and no, that os not for Emerald viewwers)
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: tips and tricks...
[13:50] Torley Linden: HAHAAHAH
[13:50] Marianne McCann giggles
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: advanced...
[13:50] Torley Linden: People were sending me all these videos, "You gotta see THESE physics."
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: character tests
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:50] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:51] Marianne McCann: I do wish there was a good way of teaching some of the more "social" parts of the experience. About "embodying" your avatar, to some extent. (which I think the afk part ties into)
[13:51] Jonit Ivory: it is amusing, and well, I am sure it has a point
[13:51] Clexor Denfu: backity back
[13:51] Marianne McCann: SL can be an active expernece, rather than passive, and I think some miss that
[13:52] Jeremy Linden: That's part of the challenge, though... There is an age-old debate between "immersionists" and other parties.
[13:52] Jonit Ivory fills in scripted agent status and goes quiet, hoping for a victim
[13:52] Torley Linden: I think it was pretty clever how some presenters have hired "puppetmasters" to control their avatar while they speak on voice. It's quite a tricky thing for a newcomer.
[13:52] Marianne McCann: True. And while I am probably a bit more "immersion" than "augmentation," I think both befinit by such
[13:53] Torley Linden: I've rocketed from one extreme to the other. I love rediscovering roleplay lately tho. :3
[13:53] Jonit Ivory: immersionism and augmentationism
[13:53] Jonit Ivory: hmm,
[13:53] Jonit Ivory checks spelling
[13:53] Marianne McCann: Ya, I agree, Torley. I recall that Yoko Ono had something similar for the IMagine Peace Tower opener. Was relaying things to another person who was 'trained" in SL, helping to manipulate her avvie
[13:54] Torley Linden: I mainly use voice chat just for company stuff because I'm thrown off by lack of realistic spatial cues, different people's voices aren't bathed in the right reverb, and often, voices don't match avatar appearance.
[13:54] Youri Ashton: I been looking around for in-world schools and if they offer residents with disabilities aid, but no one really has something like that so far. So i guess i have to talk to pathfinder about this in the hope we can help these sims out so disabilities are infact supported without gaining to much lag
[13:54] Bronson Blackadder: lol
[13:54] Jonit Ivory: Yes, I had so many issues on Pooky's dating casino
[13:54] Marianne McCann: Same here. I'll use it with "business," but it comes off odd in more RP or "immerion" spaces
[13:54] Jonit Ivory: I lost
[13:54] Torley Linden: Pooky's dating casino!?
[13:54] Marianne McCann: immersion*
[13:54] Jonit Ivory: Yes! I was on
[13:55] Jonit Ivory: http://www.thedatingcasino.com/
[13:55] Torley Linden: Part of my background is extensive text RPG where each person's turn is called a "pose". And sometimes poses can be a really meaty paragraph or more.
[13:55] Fisher Linden: fyi, bambers' bug triage is cancelled today
[13:55] Marianne McCann: A lot of people resented the emergence of voice in SL. Really, it is simply part of the toolset, and one you can use... or not.
[13:55] Youri Ashton: lol, he told me fisher
[13:55] Jonit Ivory: Sl has no bugs, regretfully cancelled
[13:55] Torley Linden: I heard of that briefly but I'm even more curious now, Jonit.
[13:55] Fisher Linden: lol
[13:55] Adamburp Adamczyk: up to the indivdual though
[13:55] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:55] Youri Ashton: spoke to him 2 weeks back about it in IM
[13:55] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: voice on sl bothers me... you got a big huge dude with a voice like screech from saved by the bell, or a beautiful woman who sounds like fran drescheer... it ruins the illusion, I think
[13:56] Jonit Ivory: Yes, Lauren Weyland alluded to that in a show
[13:56] Torley Linden: Yeh Mari, and going with likeminded people helps, like whole Regions where voice is turned off for roleplay, contrasted with business Regions where the workers are bad typers but sound fine in voice.
[13:56] Marianne McCann: Ya, Bubblesort. In my own community, well, we don't tend to sound as young as we look
[13:56] Jonit Ivory: very funny
[13:56] Marianne McCann grins
[13:56] Jonit Ivory: I tend to use voice mostly with colleagues
[13:56] Marianne McCann: Ya. With a lot of the business and esp academics, voice seems ot be the norm. Also, a greater focus on "real name."
[13:57] Torley Linden: Hahahahaha Bubblesort, that's such a mental image. I agree there, it doesn't meet expectations. I've tried convincing voice modeling technology before but, it costs a LOT more than some of the voice changer programs that are fine for weird alien voices, not good for gendershifting.
[13:57] Jonit Ivory: I wouldn't tp somwhere and have it on
[13:57] Laurent Bechir: there are certainly people who filter their voice so it's not their real voice on SL, no ?
[13:57] Marianne McCann: Which is a contrast to those who've had a SL name for a long time, to the point ot adopting/adapting to it in other uses.
[13:57] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: yeah, I've tried that out too... never got anything usabel from it... I think I was on morphvox
[13:57] Jonit Ivory: Laurent, I am not sure of what they use
[13:57] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: er, usebel == useful
[13:58] Torley Linden: There's going to be a blooming market for immersionist tools like quality, realistic voice changers that stretch formants correctly and don't make you sound like a moron.
[13:58] Jonit Ivory: visual cues are so important in speech, as are gestures
[13:58] Torley Linden: http://www.tc-helicon.com/ is amazing but costs too much for most people.
[13:58] Clexor Denfu: OMG I just realized that I've watched 293 Torley sl vidtuts
[13:58] Bronson Blackadder: oh gotta check that out
[13:58] Nicholas Hawthorne: LOL
[13:58] Torley Linden: Holy moly Clexor! Is that all of them? I think so!
[13:58] Adamburp Adamczyk: if you can do it, changign your accent on public voice chat is extremely funny
[13:58] Clexor Denfu: I think it is
[13:58] Marianne McCann: Ya, Torley. I'd love to see something like that integrated into the SL client, but I'm not sure there would be enough call to make it worth LL's while to do.
[13:58] Jonit Ivory: we've all seen Philip in SL talking, it seems false somehow
[13:59] Torley Linden: Philip's avatar looks like he'd have more of a southern accent. I dunno why.
[13:59] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: I was wondering about voice, though... if I overheard somebody talking about doing very bad things, hypothetically, on voice, I would not AR them, even if they were breaking TOS... I mean, I would be reporting something that can't be proven
[13:59] Youri Ashton: Philip is leaving SL, think he wont be doing much more new things
[13:59] Jonit Ivory: Torley, drop me an Im after watching my performance on teh casino
[13:59] Clexor Denfu: it's the beard Torley
[13:59] Marianne McCann: Jonit - I can see that. Actually, when I've heard him talking in here, I find myself invariably thinking of RL philip and not thinking of his avatar
[13:59] Jonit Ivory: I can sign you up too
[13:59] Laurent Bechir: you can do funny things on Mac with tools like Wiretap anywhere
[13:59] Torley Linden: He's not leaving Second Life, but leaving Linden Lab. There's a difference! :)
[13:59] Torley Linden: And not entirely, either. :p
[13:59] Niky Zenovka: If Torley puts his vidtuts together we might get a full motion picture... Torley VidTuts, The Movie
[13:59] Nicholas Hawthorne: lol
[13:59] Youri Ashton: yeah, is what i ment Torley, meaning he wont really be taking on much more new things
[13:59] Youri Ashton: as linden
[14:00] Jonit Ivory: I visited L Squared the other week, peaceful, serene, then a tour group arrived
[14:00] Torley Linden: Niky, haha, well... http://vimeo.com/6223441
[14:00] Jonit Ivory: Gah!
[14:00] Jonit Ivory: P Squared*
[14:00] Torley Linden: WireTap Studio is what I use to record lots of stuff.
[14:00] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: did you see his list of jobs? he needs a steak burrito and a bunch of othe whacky stuff like a bar to drink at, lol
[14:00] Nicholas Hawthorne: LOL
[14:00] Jonit Ivory: don't we all
[14:00] Clexor Denfu: OMG more Torley vids :D
[14:01] Torley Linden: When I find I can't type fast enough or am typing something when another idea comes out, I blurt it into voice because I can speak a lot faster than I can type. I think most people can, so things that can accelerate text input are great, too. Speech recognition still has awhile to go.
[14:01] Marianne McCann: yup
[14:01] Torley Linden: Haha Bubblesort, yeah, Ryan <3s his burritos.
[14:01] Marianne McCann: Time f'r me to scoot. Have fun, all!
[14:01] Niky Zenovka: Cool!
[14:01] Torley Linden: I think that's what it said on the spreadsheet. Take care, Mari!
[14:01] Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
[14:01] Laurent Bechir: with wiretap anywhere, you can use any sound source as input for the voice
[14:01] Jonit Ivory: not playing, no no no, I refuse to get into a protracted speed typing exchange with you
[14:01] Torley Linden: I've got to go too, more... writing to do! It's what we do, Doc Team Represent! :D
[14:01] Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia: I was tempted to order a burrito for delivery but minimum order in that neighborhood for delivery is like $40
[14:01] Nicholas Hawthorne: :D
[14:02] Clexor Denfu: bye Torley
[14:02] Torley Linden: Thanx each & all for coming to be with us today at our Office Hours.
[14:02] Youri Ashton: thanks for having us doc team! :)
[14:02] Niky Zenovka: Bye Torley..
[14:02] Jonit Ivory: thanks, and enjoy the Dating Casino!
[14:02] Laurent Bechir: thanks and have a nice day
[14:02] Torley Linden: We shall be here next week, same time, same place! More or less.
[14:02] Jeremy Linden: Cutting here for the transcript!
