* A website or service with or without inworld integration, that can be changed at least in the content aspect.
* A valid main grid or teen grid account with no exceptional bans and past records.
* If the service requires or includes inworld integration, you must have access to the code operating it.
* The website or service must '''NOT''' be a mature services site originally, or have very high levels (50%+) of mature content on-site.
** If it is a mature content site that the act cannot be used on, it will be rated [[#M-18|M-18]].

* Your service will be available for teens as well,
** More crowd will be registered on-site,
** If you have a discussions board, it will be usable by all Second Life residents, meaning it can be discussed and agreed upon from both grids,
** Teens could plan their main grid plans in advance prior to their departure. For example, their favorite products they have seen on-site if it is a commerce site, prepare their needed resources if it is a resources site, and so on.
* Your service will be rated as PG-13,
** More adults will sign up seeing the site does not have any mature content any longer,
** Has more chances of being featured by a famous person, magazine, or website for a successful service,
** You will be listed on the DuoGrid Websites Database, and marked as safe, (while fully [[#M-18|M-18]]-rated sites will be marked as unsafe)
** Search engines could show your site in all its glory without the need of a "SafeSearch" blocker removal.
'''Cons:'''
* Your service will be available for teens as well,
** Some teens may cause disruption on-site,
** Correctly-formatted and said discussions could turn to "slang" and "chat-lang" discussions,
** Virtual homes and places for teens and adults will be unaccessible by alternate grid residents.
* Your service will be rated as PG-13,
** Although more adults will probably sign up, there is a slight chance some will leave if the website was originally welcoming mature content,
*** Some may have signed up for a specific discussion that will now be closed,
** Free speech will be partially free since mature content cannot be discussed,
** Nude avatar art and photos will not be allowed as a measurement of safety,
** Some Second Life website databases may remove you if their requirements contain a section stating websites must welcome all content.

'''TG-13''' is a new [http://www.duogrid.com/Home DuoGrid] term with the exact meaning of PG-13, only changed to be suitable for Second Life. The acronym is used whenever indicating a website is "DuoGrid-compatible", meaning it is PG-13 monitored to be suitable for teens from the Second Life Teen Grid. DuoGrid-compatible websites, businesses and services are services optimized for the new mission of merging the two grids as best as possible.
TG-13 is a DuoGrid term to state a website is available content-wise to both grids' residents.

* '''Compatible Websites''' -- These websites are only PG-13 monitored and content-optimized for teens. No major change is applicable at the moment.

* '''Compatible Inworld Businesses/Services''' -- These services are simply re-created on the alternate grid. For example, Midian City can be "TG-13 optimized" by removing the M-rated content parts from the TG-13-based simulator plans, paying a team of expert Teen Grid builders the amount of the simulator and applicable build costs, and importing scripts and assets. In fact, even two-way grid communications can be established with licensed LibSL bots, authorized permissions, and complex systems to simulate true presence, though it is not allowed due to IP Rights.

DuoGrid is a project created to establish the goal of merging the two grids as best as possible, without breaking the Second Life Terms of Service.

The DuoGrid Compatibility Act

The DuoGrid Compatibility Act is a process which makes your service compatible for both grids. The DuoGrid Compatibility Act is a method invented by The DuoGrid Project in order to merge the grids as best as possible, by providing both grids with the same services. It is done by optimizing the rating level appropriately when initiating the process on a service originated from the main grid.

Requirements

  • A website or service with or without inworld integration, that can be changed at least in the content aspect.
  • A valid main grid or teen grid account with no exceptional bans and past records.
  • If the service requires or includes inworld integration, you must have access to the code operating it.
  • The website or service must NOT be a mature services site originally, or have very high levels (50%+) of mature content on-site.
    • If it is a mature content site that the act cannot be used on, it will be rated M-18.

How to Apply

Visit the optimization wizard at www.duogrid.com/DuoGrid:Optimize and follow the wizard steps. Once you're done with the instructions it has given you, email the DuoGrid staff for testing and execution of the process at admin[at]DuoGrid[dot]com .

Pros and Cons

The act has many pros, yet some cons as well. Pros:

  • Your service will be available for teens as well,
    • More crowd will be registered on-site,
    • If you have a discussions board, it will be usable by all Second Life residents, meaning it can be discussed and agreed upon from both grids,
    • Teens could plan their main grid plans in advance prior to their departure. For example, their favorite products they have seen on-site if it is a commerce site, prepare their needed resources if it is a resources site, and so on.
  • Your service will be rated as PG-13,
    • More adults will sign up seeing the site does not have any mature content any longer,
    • Has more chances of being featured by a famous person, magazine, or website for a successful service,
    • You will be listed on the DuoGrid Websites Database, and marked as safe, (while fully M-18-rated sites will be marked as unsafe)
    • Search engines could show your site in all its glory without the need of a "SafeSearch" blocker removal.

Cons:

  • Your service will be available for teens as well,
    • Some teens may cause disruption on-site,
    • Correctly-formatted and said discussions could turn to "slang" and "chat-lang" discussions,
    • Virtual homes and places for teens and adults will be unaccessible by alternate grid residents.
  • Your service will be rated as PG-13,
    • Although more adults will probably sign up, there is a slight chance some will leave if the website was originally welcoming mature content,
      • Some may have signed up for a specific discussion that will now be closed,
    • Free speech will be partially free since mature content cannot be discussed,
    • Nude avatar art and photos will not be allowed as a measurement of safety,
    • Some Second Life website databases may remove you if their requirements contain a section stating websites must welcome all content.

Optimization

Assets

Assets such as clothing, body parts, non-prim hair, non-prim shoes, non-prim skirts and jackets, low-prim objects, scripts, animations and notecards can be optimized for the alternate grid without a problem. However, fully-primmed objects and prim-assembled avatar clothing and styling may require a LibSecondLife or LSL bot.

Integrated Services

Integrated services can be optimized by recreating the integration objects and creating a seperate site for alternate grid residents
