This video tutorial discusses aspects of working with heads-up displays (HUDs), including:

  • Attaching/wearing HUDs
  • Hiding HUDs
  • Moving HUDs around
  • Showing HUD objects in snapshots
  • Detaching HUDs
  • Hiding the Second Life user interface
  • Creating HUDs
  • Avatar-related HUDs
  • Vehicle-related HUDs

If your HUD is offscreen and you would like to retrieve it, follow these steps:

  1. Create a cube.
  2. Right click the cube and select More > Attach Hud > Center from the pie menu.
  3. Move your scroll wheel down or hold Alt + left mouse button and drag your mouse cursor down. The screen reduces and anything offscreen becomes viewable.
  4. Locate the missing HUD and put it into edit mode by right-clicking on the it and selecting Edit from the pie menu.
  5. Using the arrows that appear in edit mode, move the missing HUD back onto the screen.
  6. Scroll the mouse wheel or hold Alt + left mouse button and move the mouse up to bring it back to size.
  7. Right-click the cube you attached as a HUD and select Detach.
