* How do we translate "program" in this context? I'd like to avoid "Programm" to avoid confusion with computer programs, program brochures, political programs and what not. I've used "Angebot" for now, but that doesn't quite cut it.--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

* Hi Boroondas! Ich finde die Übersetzung mit Angebot ganz zutreffend. Stimme Dir zu, dass "Programm" hier nicht ganz passt. Simone Linden 13:24, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

* "Anfrage"/"Bestellung"/"Antrag" ... I've mixed those wildly because context of the different occurrences of "request" suggested different meanings. Though, because all refer to the same process, I guess only one of them carries the 'true' meaning. Can someone familiar with the custom name request process comment on this?--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

** I think "Anfrage" is the best solution in this case. --Simone Linden 14:15, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

** "Ressource" would probably be the translation of the common word "capability" that fits best for the technology of the same name. Though, "capabilities URL" would then become "Ressourcen-URL" which is redundant ("URL" being a "Unified Resource Locator").--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

** I thought you solution with the link was great. To be honest, I am completly out of my depth here, so it is great to have the wiki link... I also googled Ressourcen-URL and Capabilites-URL both seem to be used in German. --Simone Linden 14:15, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Vocabulary questions

General

  • How do we translate "program" in this context? I'd like to avoid "Programm" to avoid confusion with computer programs, program brochures, political programs and what not. I've used "Angebot" for now, but that doesn't quite cut it.--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
    • Hi Boroondas! Ich finde die Übersetzung mit Angebot ganz zutreffend. Stimme Dir zu, dass "Programm" hier nicht ganz passt. Simone Linden 13:24, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

LL products and/or technologies

How to translate these when they aren't in the glossary? It would be nice if translations of those were consistent between different articles and with official website.--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

  • "capability"
    • "Ressource" would probably be the translation of the common word "capability" that fits best for the technology of the same name. Though, "capabilities URL" would then become "Ressourcen-URL" which is redundant ("URL" being a "Unified Resource Locator").--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

  • "Vanitiy Name"
    • "Ehren-Name"? strange if you have to request them yourself and if it has to reflect the requester's RL name
    • "Eitelkeits-Name"? sounds negative
    • leave untranslated? unfavorable, because "Vanity" isn't easily understood by someone who doesn't know English.--Boroondas Gupte 15:35, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Torben suggested "Wunschname" (analogous to "Wunschnummern"/"Vanity numbers", I guess he was referring to license numbers for cars) I'll use that for now.
      • Vanity-Nummern sind Telefonnummern zum Aussuchen, bei denen eine Firma ihren Wunschnamen als Telefonnummer erhält, zum Beispiel 0800 LINDEN LAB (0800/546336522) :) --Torben Trautman 22:24, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Achso. Wieder 'was gelernt. :-) --Boroondas Gupte 12:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Tippfehler in Web Services Naviation

  • Leider hat sich in dem Menü ein Fehler eingeschlichen: Drittanbierter hat ein "r" zuviel. Ich weiss nicht, wo das korrigiert werden kann? Kann mir einer von Euch helfen? Danke! Simone Linden 13:24, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
