A terrific idea! My only hope is that once you've sorted out bugs and features, that you'll consider a light version of the skin, something in the same tonal range as the old Silver skin in 1.2x. My understanding is that to manage that, you'll also have to change various textures, but maybe someone (with more graphical skill than I) could help with that....
