This is one that i've been working on myself for a while and is rather simple.

sl://domain/region/x/y/z

Where "domain" is a DNS name (like secondlife.com) and region is the region name.

An example:

sl://secondlife.com/Hooper/128/128/50 sl://localhost/My%20Sim/128/128/60

DNS SRV records or DNS A records could be used to identify the login server for that particular domain if logging into it directly or to identify the appropriate region stores for that particular region domain.
