There are several kinds of conversations. An {{xref|IM|instant message}} (commonly abbreviated IM) is a line of text chat that only you and another Resident see. Instant Message conversations can also be between multiple participants, such as a formal {{vh|Groups|group}} or an ad hoc conference. While sending text messages, you can also simultaneously participate in a private voice call.

  Shows the group's information in the sidebar.
Call Group

  Calls the group. Being in a private group voice call disconnects you from the open voice channel so only group participants can hear what's being said. A Group Call window similar to Voice_Call appears, where you can set the voice level for each speaker and use other options.

There are also additional options available from a context menu when you right-click a Resident's name in the list:

Sort by Name

  Sorts the participants alphabetically by first name.
Sort by Recent Speakers

  Sorts the participants by who spoke last, which includes both text or voice chat.
View Profile

  Shows this Resident's profile in the sidebar.
Add Friend

  Sends a friendship request to this Resident. Disabled if they're already your friend.
IM

Allow text chat

  Disable this to block a participant from using group text chat.
Mute this participant

  Block this Resident from using group voice chat. It also mutes them for everyone else. Not available if the participant doesn't have voice chat on.
Mute everyone else

  Block everyone else but yourself and other moderators from using group voice chat.
