'''Welcome Island''' teaches new Residents basic Second Life skills in about ten minutes, while '''Discovery Island''' helps Residents learn about starter experiences in Second Life.

These are part of the Second Life Viewer 2 experience, and are replacing the old [[Help Island]] (and before that, [[Orientation Island]]).

Welcome Island and Discovery Island each have multiple copies to accommodate the many Residents entering SL for their first time. To get to one if you want to meet new Residents and help them:

# In Second Life Viewer 2, choose '''World''' > '''World Map'''.
# In the region field next to the '''Find''' button, type
Welcome Island
or
SL DiscoveryIsland Public
, then click '''Find'''. You'll see multiple listings with numbers after their names. For example:

# Click a listing, then click the '''Teleport''' button.
