Torley Linden: Whoa, who graffitied the sign!
Pastrami Linden: hehe
Pastrami Linden: yeah
Torley Linden: That is uber trippy.
Torley Linden: Like something out of a Daft Punk vid.
Pastrami Linden: so Torley did you finish Ratatouille
Torley Linden: YES!
Torley Linden: AMAZING VIDEO!
Pastrami Linden: :)
Torley Linden: So beautiful.
Pastrami Linden: yep
Torley Linden: Great story, characters, animation.
Pastrami Linden: my kingdom for a bread shader
Torley Linden: Pixar is pretty darn consistent about what they do well.
Pastrami Linden: yep
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: I'm really looking forward to Wall-E.
JennyH GossipGirl: mmhmm! grat fun! :-))) now what exactly is RL ratatouille? :-))
Torley Linden: JennyH, a wonderful movie.
BigPapi Linden: returned the graffiti
Jeremy Linden: Er. Doh. Did I forget to take that sign down last time I was here?
Torley Linden: A triumph of the soul, a masterpiece in filmmaking.
Torley Linden: Haha Jeremy. No worries.
Torley Linden: Zante, great beard.
Pastrami Linden: Alright all, shall we get this show on the road?
Torley Linden: Avatars sure are customizable.
Zante Zapedzki: hehe
Torley Linden: LET'S ROCK AND ROLL!
Pastrami Linden: [13:03] Zante Zapedzki: It's February 2008, when will we see SpeedTree? : )
Pastrami Linden: tough to say Zante
Pastrami Linden: we've decided to focus next few quarters on stability
BigPapi Linden: NEVER!!! MUAA HA HA HA!
Zante Zapedzki: :d
Pastrami Linden: (read: get the crash rate down)
Zante Zapedzki: alright : )
Pastrami Linden: it's always the pull between new features and stability
Pastrami Linden: just see any of the blog comments for proof ;)
Torley Linden: ;)
Torley Linden: I'm trying to message the First Look group but my group IMs keep failing, argh.
Pastrami Linden: questions, questions, IM me your questions
Pastrami Linden: me too Torley
Pastrami Linden: [13:05] Spaceman Opus: Are the complaints about the new UI in the new RC and Windlight being heard?
Pastrami Linden: good question
Pastrami Linden: Torley?
Torley Linden: Yes, they most certainly are.
Torley Linden: I personally imported some of the hottest bugs in that area from the Issue Tracker.
Spaceman Opus: the release keys button should be shot
Torley Linden: Of course, with 1.19, we implemented some longtime suggestions to improve the Communicate window.
Tazmania Trefusis: yes...hear hear
Torley Linden: That came up in an Resident Experience discussion, Spaceman...
Torley Linden: and I agree there needs to be a better way.
Tazmania Trefusis: its my way and i cant move it
Torley Linden: Watch the specific issues on the Issue Tracker for updates as they come.
Torley Linden: Internally, we're currently underway on a project to overhaul system notifications, possibly including Release Keys and many, many more...
Pastrami Linden: more questions, feed me
Torley Linden: so there's going to be more changes that'll hopefully be for the better.
Pastrami Linden: FEED ME
Torley Linden: FEED PASTRAMI!
Tazmania Trefusis: lol
Torley Linden: THE PINK ONE DEMANDS IT!
Zante Zapedzki: : p
Pastrami Linden: [13:07] JennyH GossipGirl: hi there! i came because this latest Windlight viewer is a disaster for me :-( i'm on a MacBook Pro 17", core 2 duo with the 8600M nvidia. the version prior to this was quite good, the first time i could actually use WL on my machine, andbecause of the various Mac fixes, it was better tahn the RC or regular versions. this one is back to awful constant crashes (not as bad as the unusable WL versions), i lag to death and crash, sometimes spin/move uncontrollablly especialy in areas with lots of sculpties, ie Botanical. i'm constantly running hot. building is a nightmare (i have a sim and need to see far). on top of all the crashes, slideshow framerates (which was not the case with the prior WL), this one has an unusable UI...and i'm not complaining about the various buttons and layout others have mentioned. on my Mac, i'm getting menus that don't highlight the selected item (starting with the login screen and the location menu), the Friends and group list is unreadbale black o
Pastrami Linden: wow
Zante Zapedzki: hehe
BigPapi Linden: Hehe, Jenny wrote a dissertation.
Pastrami Linden: JennyH, it's basically like this-
Pastrami Linden: [13:08] JennyH GossipGirl: doesn't highlight, Search shows white on white and therefore unusable for Places, Popular Places, People searchers, etc, and when i click a vendor to buy something all contents are white on white and therefore unreadable. help! i'd be glad to send screenshots or do anything i can! :-))))
JennyH GossipGirl: sorry! lol
Torley Linden: Just an IMPORTANT NOTE that buttons/layout/UI changes most likely have to do with the main 1.19 RC, and are NOT WindLight-specific. (Can be hard to tell unless you've tried both viewers, I agree!)
Pastrami Linden: hehe
Torley Linden: JennyH, I imported that "white on white" thing too...
Torley Linden: let me find the issue...
Pastrami Linden: the light-colored text has been fixed
JennyH GossipGirl: well white on white is quite unusable
JennyH GossipGirl: ok :-)
Pastrami Linden: secondly,
Spaceman Opus: understood Torley
Pastrami Linden: what just occured-
Pastrami Linden: is that we merged in all of 1.19.0
Pastrami Linden: aka RC
JennyH GossipGirl: right
Pastrami Linden: so we inherited a lot of their fixes and a lot of their problems
Pastrami Linden: but it's a good thing
Pastrami Linden: like a merging of the two Houses
Pastrami Linden: because soon they will be the same
Torley Linden: See: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4565 "Certain menu's are black text on black background"
Pastrami Linden: which means,
Pastrami Linden: larger pool of devs working on the same code
Pastrami Linden: the problems will go away,
Tazmania Trefusis: so the release key prob not specific to windlight??
Pastrami Linden: nope
Torley Linden: Tazmia: No!
Pastrami Linden: it's all RC
BigPapi Linden: Torley, I fixed that issue.
Torley Linden: Tazmania, I mean.
BigPapi Linden: I'll close the public one.
Pastrami Linden: soon there will be no FL
Torley Linden: Awesome BigPapi! That was already an internal issue?
Torley Linden: Should resolve the dupe...
BigPapi Linden: Nope
Spaceman Opus: Windlight's going to RC?
Pastrami Linden: right
Tazmania Trefusis: ok
BigPapi Linden: Never actually made internal jira before getting fixed. :)
Torley Linden: Oh cool, BigPapi, then, if you want to assign DEV-10208 to yourself and mark as fixed?
JennyH GossipGirl: ok, so the release key thing and the white on white is all getting fixed asap :-)
Torley Linden: GO FOR IT MAN
BigPapi Linden: will do
Pastrami Linden: yeah Jenny
Pastrami Linden: I think the white-white has already been fixed
Pastrami Linden: need to double check
Torley Linden: Haha yes JennyH, we have firsthand confirmation here from BigPapi! And Release Keys, we *may* put a confirmation dialog but ultimately we want a more elegant path.
Torley Linden: Refer to what I said above about Notifications project.
Torley Linden: There are many things in the viewer that can benefit from less cluttered treatment of when you see statuses and such.
Pastrami Linden: [13:11] Marianne McCann: Looks like the release keys and mac white on white is addressed. But I was wondering if any thought has come up about, say, moon phases instead of the 'always full' one we have now
Tazmania Trefusis: Can I just ask..the release key issue is about whereit is onscreen (thats my prob!) nit anything else related to release key?
JennyH GossipGirl: great, and i'm dying now with high sculptie regions especially, but even at minimum settings, 64 draw, i'm burning up, lagging, crashing
You shout: Please IM your questions to Pastrami Linden so they'll be answered in turn! Thanks!
Pastrami Linden: Marianne, it's a good feature
Pastrami Linden: but will have to wait on a few much bigger ones first-
Tazmania Trefusis: soz
Marianne McCann nods
Pastrami Linden: namely, WL as tradeable assets/server setable assets
Tazmania Trefusis: :-)
Marianne McCann smiles
Marianne McCann: Hadda put it in the hopper
Pastrami Linden: [13:13] JennyH GossipGirl: ok, just wanted to follow up with the first part...the much poorer performance and stability...
Pastrami Linden: JennyH, make sure to get latest version of MacOS
Pastrami Linden: [13:11] Zante Zapedzki: Have you seen the augmented reality versions of Second Life yet? If so, do you have any plans to support the technology officially?
Pastrami Linden: Zante, that's the type of thing we usually leave up to the third party devs/users
Zante Zapedzki: alright, because it's great publicity : )
Pastrami Linden: oh, I think it's awesome
JennyH GossipGirl: i'm running Mas OX 10.5.1
Torley Linden: It was definitely a prime reason why open-sourcing the viewer has been beneficial. I have seen some VERY KEWL (tm) YouTube videos showing that augmented reality shiznit.
Zante Zapedzki: yar ;p
Pastrami Linden: Torley please!
Pastrami Linden: think of the children!
Torley Linden: @_@
Zante Zapedzki: :]
Spaceman Opus: won't someone please think of the children?!!
Marianne McCann gasps
Jeremy Linden thinks that should be amended to "Think of the tinies!"
Pastrami Linden: the younglings
Torley Linden: Yoda's younglings.
Pastrami Linden: GREAT name for a band
Pastrami Linden: [13:15] Zante Zapedzki: I ask this every week because I must. Where are the LSL handlers for the glow effect? ;]
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHAHAAHAH.
Torley Linden: OMG.
Pastrami Linden: Zante, what do I answer every week?
Pastrami Linden: :)
Zante Zapedzki: >:} priorities!
BigPapi Linden: Jenny, the freezes and crashes are being worked on by Apple.
Pastrami Linden: it's coming
Pastrami Linden: we just bumped it up today
Torley Linden: Without a doubt, that's one of the most popular questions we get asked.
Pastrami Linden: one of our guys just got back from vacation who can work on it
BigPapi Linden: But we're not allowed to give further details, but a fix should be coming soon.
Pastrami Linden: I want glowable scripts. Forget scriptable glow
Tazmania Trefusis: lol
Zante Zapedzki: 'would bring happiness to many
Pastrami Linden: Jenny I'd say hang tight until Apple has some new releases
Marianne McCann: huh
Pastrami Linden: combined with our new releases
Ollj Oh: glowing commercial signs. be very afraid
Pastrami Linden: it shouldn't remain an issue for long
Pastrami Linden: queue empty
Pastrami Linden: hit me!
Marianne McCann: I hit ya!
BigPapi Linden punches Pastrami
Pastrami Linden: [13:17] Marianne McCann: Any movement on VWR-3272 for ATI Raedon 9600s and so on?
Pastrami Linden: checking
Torley Linden: Oh, I remember we looked at that during internal triage this morning, Zen basically said the same thing mentioned here.
Pastrami Linden: we're waiting on a Dell update
Pastrami Linden: then we will turn it back on
Marianne McCann: 'kay
Pastrami Linden: "[13:19] Zante Zapedzki: is lip sync planned for voice chat? It'd be a very small addition but great for vids : )"
LifeFactory Writer: Good day. I wanted to quickly ask if I may about something I encountered yesterday. I am sure it is nothing....It regards the new download, first presented as "optional" but upon attempting to sign in, presented as "mandatory" via a pop-up window. I noticed that this mandatory download was named 3DBA.exe, while the one from the secondlife website was titled "windlight set-up...(something or the other). Could you please just verify that the pop up download 3DBA was, in fact, valid? Thank you!
Pastrami Linden lols at "very small addition" ;)
Pastrami Linden: Zante it'd be a big task
Torley Linden: Zante, some Residents like Geuss Dassin have made some strides in that area. I don't believe we have an official path for that.
Zante Zapedzki: I mean it wouldn';t have a huige effect : )
Tazmania Trefusis: but kinda coool :-)
Torley Linden: Look up the "motor mouth" product.
Pastrami Linden: it *would* be cool
Torley Linden: Geuis Dassin, corrected spelling.
Pastrami Linden: but not in near sight
LifeFactory Writer: Geuis Dassin is doing many terrific things!
Torley Linden: In the meantime also, machinimators and such use Crazy Talk in post-production.
BigPapi Linden: But it would be processor intensive and EXTREMELY difficult to integrate into the viewer.
Torley Linden: LifeFactory: What else has he been up to?
BigPapi Linden: So I wouldn't expect it any time soon.
Pastrami Linden: [13:19] Farallon Greyskin: Is the idea of putting the ability to adjust the repeate rate of the water "texture" out of consideration? THe current high frequency pattern makes it hard/impossible to make nice smooth rivers like earlier versions.
Torley Linden: I'd prefer a dynamic audio compressor (to level volumes out) + limited to prevent peak overloads first.
Pastrami Linden: Farallon,
Pastrami Linden: I think we're fixing the water waves soon
pee Cuttita: hi all
LifeFactory Writer: Geuis has also developed something that allows one to link other avatars to oneself, so that you can fly them around....as in giving a tour....with them remaining passive...
Torley Linden: LifeFactory: Intriguing, I'll have to check that out. He sure has a lively mind.
LifeFactory Writer: It is very neat...
LifeFactory Writer: Also, several tools to facilitate machinima...
Pastrami Linden: [13:21] CloudSteel Yatsenko: we have good news for a windlight better?
Pastrami Linden: indeed!
LifeFactory Writer: beyond just motor mouth and the tracking cam...
LifeFactory Writer: I have his whole collection of things! Even the betas!
Pastrami Linden: CloudSteel, what do you mean?
LifeFactory Writer: Some of tools are more useful than others.
LifeFactory Writer: Regarding my question re: 3DBA....that was typed much earlier than it posted...sorry for that.
BigPapi Linden: Farallon: you can change that *right* now.
LifeFactory Writer: Any answer to the #DBA download question? Thank you in advance.
BigPapi Linden: The water normal map is settable in the WindLight settings for water.
BigPapi Linden: Replace it with a flatter normal map.
Torley Linden: OMG I see Daleks hopping about!
Ollj Oh: bad place for scripts
Tazmania Trefusis: pee again
pee Cuttita: hey taz
Tazmania Trefusis: shhhhhh
pee Cuttita: sorry
Pastrami Linden: LifeFactory Writer: Good day. Thank you!
Pastrami Linden: hmm
Farallon Greyskin: Yeah the map is replacable but the repeat rate is so incredibly high that you cant reall smooth it out much
pee Cuttita: whats all this about
Torley Linden: I haven't heard of that "3DBA.exe" before... odd...
Pastrami Linden: let me google it
Torley Linden: No google matches!
Farallon Greyskin: It use to have a MUCH lower repeat rate, sucg that you could put in a smooth or a rumpled map and it then looked like it was supposed to
Pastrami Linden: nothing on google, which rules out H4X
Torley Linden: "3DBA" sans .exe though brings up a variety of stuff...
Pastrami Linden: :)
Farallon Greyskin: The repeat rate should be like every 10 meters or so? right now it seems to be every 1/2 or 1 meter.
Torley Linden: LifeFactory, was that the *exact* name?
Torley Linden: I know in the past at least, temp download files have had a hexy-looking name.
BigPapi Linden: Farallon, you can change that texture to whatever you want.
Torley Linden: But longer than 4 characters.
LifeFactory Writer: I googled it.
BigPapi Linden: So a flat texture would result in flat water.
CloudSteel Yatsenko: Torley we have good news for updates in the windlight in this week?
Torley Linden: LifeFactory: In any case, if you're using http://secondlife.com/community/downloads-optional.php as a source for downloads, then those are legit.
LifeFactory Writer: I am especially keen on such things, having had a number of "troubles," as the Irish would perhaps say :D Just wanted confirmation of its authenticity. I did not run it.
Torley Linden: CloudSteel, please clarify! We just had an update the other day, what else do you wish for? :)
CloudSteel Yatsenko: be better =X
Torley Linden: Clarify! Details! Specifics! Please! =D
Farallon Greyskin: I've tried several but none of them smooth the water out. A previous release of WL had a much more sane repeat rate. Not sure why it wwas upped so high. Yuo can see "moire" patterns in the texture very strongly now and even relatively smppth maps give rather rough water now.
CloudSteel Yatsenko: well i have type windows crazy. on my chat when anypeople join in
LifeFactory Writer: THank you Pastrami and Torley...apologies for a bit of lag in my chat.
Torley Linden: Farallon, yeah, hopefully, that'll be improved, it's on our list. I know some have felt very strongly about it on the Issue Tracker.
Torley Linden: No worries LifeFactory, and you're welcome.
Pastrami Linden: LifeFactory
Pastrami Linden: just checked
CloudSteel Yatsenko: =D
Pastrami Linden: apprently the auto updater will occasionally generrate random-named exes
Farallon Greyskin: Just looking at the water here and looking at the sky reflection you see striped of repeating patterns at a very smal scale due to the high releat rate
Torley Linden: Pastrami: Aye, that's what I was referring to.
Pastrami Linden: wow, /me can does type
Torley Linden: :D
Torley Linden: Farallon, BTW, that's great fur on your avatar.
Farallon Greyskin: An additional option to vary it would be nice, but actually the old setting of like 4 releases ago seemed a lot etter. But ok.
CloudSteel Yatsenko: =X
LifeFactory Writer: Still lagging...Yes, Torley, that was the exact name. It came as a forced pop up after I tried to sign in without opting to download.
Farallon Greyskin: Heh thanks.. it's a sclassig "fur shader" :D
Torley Linden: Hahahah very creative.
Farallon Greyskin: little prim heavy though
Farallon Greyskin: If we ever get the ability to write our own shaders in SL .. :D
Torley Linden: I like all the amazing avatars we have here.
Torley Linden: We're more diverse than the freakin' United Nations!
Pastrami Linden: Torley can you email Farallon's comments to Zen?
Torley Linden: Yes, Pastrami. Will do.
Pastrami Linden: or paste them in the jira?
Torley Linden: Better yet...
Torley Linden: yeah that's what I was gonna do.
Torley Linden: =)
Pastrami Linden: [13:25] Spaceman Opus: Is there a chance of getting a keyboard shortcut for the environment editor again? Ctrl-Alt-E was very handy
Pastrami Linden: hmm, not sure-
Dizzy Banjo: howdy folks
Torley Linden: Howdy Dizzy!
Pastrami Linden: we had to axe that because it conflicted with some regions
Dizzy Banjo: ah yeah that was cool :D
Brad Linden is slowed down by that one every day
Spaceman Opus: ah...didn't know it caused a conflict ;-(
Dizzy Banjo: maybe you guys have covered this already.. but 1.19 windlight seems to be "freezing" far more often on my nVidia 8800 than previous WLs
Dizzy Banjo: like literally every 10-20 seconds.. for a second or so
LifeFactory Writer: I would like the mouse moves sun option back....I know the editor will do this, but for machinima, mouse moves sun is more practical.
Farallon Greyskin: haha yeah I fel in love with that shortcut and was :( that it went away too but...
BigPapi Linden: Try turing off occlusion Dizzy.
Dizzy Banjo: hmm whre is that ?
Torley Linden: Client menu > Rendering > Object-Object Occlusion.
LifeFactory Writer: I also am having a rough ride on this new download. The last was nearly flawless, at least by my realtively untrained standards.
Dizzy Banjo: thanks
Torley Linden: Dizzy, I had pretty awful "freeze when teleporting" problems and turning off occlusion seems to have so far worked as a workaround.
Dizzy Banjo: coolness
Pastrami Linden: LifeFactory, IM me any questions!
Pastrami Linden: re: shortcuts,
Pastrami Linden: I know Zen usually works on that-
Dizzy Banjo: ops.. *just notices vast IM questions to pastrami sign*.. sorry :S
Pastrami Linden: Torly you know what we decided on that-
Pastrami Linden: let me find the jira
LifeFactory Writer: Oops, me too, Dizzy...sorry, Pastrami, and All.
Jack666 Carter: lmao
Torley Linden: Pastrami, yeah...
Torley Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3268
Torley Linden: "WindLight: Ctrl-Alt-E (or AltGr-E) for opening Environment Editor makes typing ?-character impossible"
Torley Linden: And that ? is supposed to be a Euro system.
Pastrami Linden: yeha but looking for our internal one
Torley Linden: symbol.
Torley Linden: Pastrami, DEV-7285.
Dizzy Banjo: hmm its still freezing here.. with occlusion off.. just temporarily for a sec or so.. its odd
Torley Linden: See Steve's latest comment.
Jack666 Carter: yes Torley... we have the euro-symbol on AltGr+E
Torley Linden: Looks like we have to have better foresight re: shortcuts, or we're screwed!
Phli Foxchase: €
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: Thanks Phli, that's the one!
Farallon Greyskin: We need more meta keys on the kb!
Spaceman Opus: yeah get to work on that!
Farallon Greyskin: You guys invent an SL kb and then get back to us :D
Torley Linden: I'm a big fan of shortcuts.
Torley Linden: I have some shortcuts that use the Windows key, by way of PhraseExpress. Wheeee.
Torley Linden: Fully-mappable key bindings are "still hoped for" in the future.
Pastrami Linden: [13:33] Jack666 Carter: Is there a way to choose the browser for opening URLs from chat-window ? I only get IE... (not sure if it's a WL-question though)
Pastrami Linden: uhhhhh
Pastrami Linden: Tors?
Torley Linden: Jack666, hmmm it depends on which browser is set as the default on your system I believe.
Torley Linden: If you open Firefox's settings...
Spaceman Opus: ditto on that...I'd rather FIrefox
Jack666 Carter: Firefox
Torley Linden: it should let you do that.
Dizzy Banjo: lmao someone just sent me a link to this virtual world for kids : http://www.dizzywood.com/
BigPapi Linden: Don't see how WL could be responsible for that.
Torley Linden: Firefox's Tools menu > Options and see where it says "Always check..."
Farallon Greyskin: Have FF set itself as the default browser, or if on windows there is the "default programs" control panel I think you can set it there
Torley Linden: and if that doesn't work, try reinstalling Firefox. Also observe where links from other apps open into.
Pastrami Linden: [13:35] Phli Foxchase: Question about VWR-3893 : I know someone who see everything in glow. How can I help him ?
Jack666 Carter: I did that, Farallon... everything set to FF by default in windows settings... ;)
Jack666 Carter: maybe reinstall will help... thanks to Troley ;) I'll try that ;)
Jack666 Carter: *Torley*
Torley Linden: Good luck!
Pastrami Linden: BigPapi,
Zante Zapedzki: something to do with the debug settings on the client menu?
Pastrami Linden: didn't we virtually kill all these
Pastrami Linden: re: Phli
Pastrami Linden: wait
Pastrami Linden: this might be glow with 2600
Pastrami Linden: reading over....
Phli Foxchase: ATI Radeon HD 2600
Phli Foxchase: yes
Halls Card: Unable to find specified agent to request permissions.
Phli Foxchase: hardware skinning take off the glow
Phli Foxchase: but the avatar don't render
Pastrami Linden: Phli, have them upgrade Catalyst drivers
Pastrami Linden: and next release of their drivers should fix this, I believe
Phli Foxchase: 8.2 ?
Pastrami Linden: I believe so
Phli Foxchase: ok, thank you
Pastrami Linden: Phli let me check something
Pastrami Linden: yes, it's related to 8.2 drivers
Phli Foxchase: ok
Pastrami Linden: [13:37] LifeFactory Writer: Hola! Any chance of getting the mouse moves sun function back....it is much easier when filmming than using the editor.
Pastrami Linden: hmm
Spaceman Opus: must run...thanks everyone :-)
Pastrami Linden: TOrley you wanna jorafy this and assign to me?
Dizzy Banjo: lol victorio
Torley Linden: Will do!
Victorio Flatley: what?
Pastrami Linden: I'm still not sure what path we'll take with mouse look
Pastrami Linden: for sun
Dizzy Banjo: dont bump Torley !
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: Hey Victorio, welcome to our WindLight office hour!
Farallon Greyskin: Heh
Victorio Flatley: hi
Pastrami Linden: [13:38] Zante Zapedzki: With regards to the functionality of html on a prim. I heard that the first version would work as a media texture. Are there any plans to make it operational outside of this restriction? A lot of people try to get around not being able to display text by using high res images and others by using complicated scripts.
Pastrami Linden: H,, Zante, not really a WindLight question
Pastrami Linden: but maybe someone here knows the answer?
Zante Zapedzki: alright : )
Pastrami Linden: BigPapi? Torley?
Torley Linden: Zante, for the longer-term, likely yes.
Torley Linden: We need to get the initial parcel media phase done though.
Torley Linden: Stay tuned for news on that in the next 2 weeks or so.
Victorio Flatley: answer for what question?
Zante Zapedzki: understood
Pastrami Linden: [13:41] Marianne McCann: Will "old style clouds" be on or off for default?
Pastrami Linden: they will be setable per preset
Farallon Greyskin: Just I pray that you only allow some sort of filtered subset of basic html...
Torley Linden: (And the news will appear on http://blog.secondlife.com )
Pastrami Linden: not sure though what we'll do with our presets
BigPapi Linden: Yeah, don't know much about the html on a prim
Pastrami Linden would love to have them off
Farallon Greyskin: I've had to turn of html profiles because of some nastiness people have pulled there :(
Marianne McCann nods
Pastrami Linden: but will probably keep them on for all the apps that need them
Pastrami Linden: skydiving, etc.
Torley Linden: Farallon, the "auto-redirect" problem? We checked in a fix for that shortly after we became aware of it.
Torley Linden: Sometimes, the classic clouds can look pretty good with WindLight, so it depends.
Pastrami Linden: right
Pastrami Linden: [13:43] Dizzy Banjo: Do you guys know what actually causes the "freezing" thing.. it used to happen on previous windlight clients but not as much.. the ctrl / shift / 1 display and lag meter show everything is fine.. :S
Farallon Greyskin: Heh well the big one is when you rn across someone playing music in thir profile and then you can;t sjut it off :D
Torley Linden: Dizzy, does it predate WindLight for you?
Pastrami Linden: Dizzy, by freezing do you just mean a freezing client?
Torley Linden: I wonder if it's a much older issue involving viewer freezes when you move your camera.
Torley Linden: AKA https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2051
Dizzy Banjo: no its just on windlight for me i think
Farallon Greyskin: I actualy wrote an IM client using HTML as the rendering engine and I just used a filtering function to "clean" the html to a certain set of functionality and had very little worry about shinanighans
Dizzy Banjo: its like the client just glitches
Dizzy Banjo: everything.. even chat
LifeFactory Writer: I never had any problem with freezes or lags, but have experienced them a number of times with this new download...although, admit I have only been using it for about a hour or so, so far.
LifeFactory Writer: *an hour
LifeFactory Writer: no a hour...sorry ... :?
Pastrami Linden: Dizzy it could be a number of things-
Marianne McCann waves and heads out
Dizzy Banjo: it seems to bear no relation to graphics settings
Pastrami Linden: by Marianne
Pastrami Linden: Dizzy, your best bet is just to keep getting updates-
Dizzy Banjo: happens on low / med / high and ultra
Dizzy Banjo: yeah
Pastrami Linden: *overall* stability is increasing every release
Dizzy Banjo: the last WL client was fine
Pastrami Linden: even when it doesn't seem like it
Pastrami Linden: oh
Pastrami Linden: if that's the case
Pastrami Linden: do you use RC?
Zen Linden: are you getting freezes from when you're getting frind notifications?
Pastrami Linden: Zen!
Pastrami Linden: welcome
Dizzy Banjo: yeh ive been trying all of them
Zen Linden: hey
Torley Linden: Yo yo Zen!
Zen Linden: sorry, had to grab lunch. Was starving
Zen Linden: RC has a number of issues
Zen Linden: with freezing
Zen Linden: that we picked up
Zen Linden: when friend notifications come up
Zen Linden: for some it's when they open the map
Dizzy Banjo: i cant work out where the freezes are really
Dizzy Banjo: at the mo they seem random
Dizzy Banjo: just intermittent
Zen Linden: they're most likely UI related and the RC folks know about it
LifeFactory Writer: I have noticed freezes with the map and also with moving the camera over significant distances.
Dizzy Banjo: perhaps could be the new UI stuff..
Zen Linden: camera moving may be different
Dizzy Banjo: its only since that actually
Dizzy Banjo: ill try test the RC too
Zen Linden: please. That helps us narrow it down
LifeFactory Writer: But neither problem occurred with the prior release.
Dizzy Banjo: yeh i had it with previous WL clients..
Dizzy Banjo: but now its much worse
Dizzy Banjo: before the viewer would freeze for much longer times.. like 5 seconds.. but very rarely
Dizzy Banjo: now its on average every 30 sec.. and for about a second
Zen Linden: try turning off friend notifications as well and see if it helps at all
Dizzy Banjo: yeh they are off already
Zen Linden: gotcha
Dizzy Banjo: i always have them off or i go insane
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Zen Linden: :)
Dizzy Banjo: ok well thanks folks :D
Torley Linden: Lotta friends? ;)
Torley Linden: Good luck with that, DIzzy.
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: Hehe.
Dizzy Banjo: hhaah
LifeFactory Writer: Dizzy has fans. Girls swoon when he tp's into the room. Men want to be his wingman.
Dizzy Banjo: lmao
Dizzy Banjo: shhh
Pastrami Linden: [13:50] Phli Foxchase: Question about VWR-3140: Where did the W go ? ^^
Phli Foxchase: The W is on vacation too !
Dizzy Banjo relogs in RC brb
Torley Linden: What question, Phli?
Phli Foxchase: on the mini map
Pastrami Linden: is that damn W gone again
Phli Foxchase: I can't see W for west
Farallon Greyskin: Hahaha
Pastrami Linden: jeez it is
Farallon Greyskin: Me neigther
Torley Linden: Yes, a fix is pending for that bug.
LifeFactory Writer: Thanks, Linden and Co. Enjoy the day!
Torley Linden: It was a recent fix by Bao Linden, about a week ago.
Pastrami Linden: oh Torley I thought we closed it a while ago
Pastrami Linden: oh okay
Torley Linden: He found that the cause of the disappearance was that the W was one pixel larger than other letters. @_@
Pastrami Linden: I thought that was further back
Pastrami Linden: oh yes
Pastrami Linden: that was only a week ago, huh?
Pastrami Linden: thought it was logner
Pastrami Linden: ^longer
Pastrami Linden: anyway,
BigPapi Linden: Yeah, I'm seeing the W just fine.
Pastrami Linden: any other q's?
Phli Foxchase: ok
Kitty Barnett sees the W fine too :o
Phli Foxchase: fix pending ?
Pastrami Linden: indeed
BigPapi Linden: Should be
Torley Linden: Yes, fix coming on the way publicly.
Jack666 Carter: I don't have the W either...
Farallon Greyskin: I've got my UI font set to 90%
Torley Linden: That's what "fix pending" means, that it's fixed in an internal branch within Linden Lab, but not made public yet.
Farallon Greyskin: So if it's really within a single pixel of the bounding box then varying the font size will make it come and go :/
Pastrami Linden: alright all, about close up
Pastrami Linden: ^to
Phli Foxchase: ok, thank you for coming
Farallon Greyskin: Well I can;t wait for the LSL WL acess
Pastrami Linden: sure thing
Torley Linden: Thanks for joining us!
Torley Linden: Yeah that will be kickass, Farallon.
Farallon Greyskin: Programmed variable weather....
Torley Linden: I can imagine the rock concerts that'll come out of that, and epic, cinematic sequences.
Pastrami Linden: yeah
Pastrami Linden: bass linked to cloud cover
Torley Linden: Someone better make a full-length Koyaanisqatsi and/or Baraka in Second Life!
Pastrami Linden: ambient light
Pastrami Linden: etc.
