Number of Accounts

Although I have closed WEB-1227, I'm still confused:

Is the number of accounts really limited to 5 per household? What about households with more than 5 (potential) users? (Remember you must not share accounts.) What about open source developers who need several accounts for test purposes? Also, if you can have at most 5 accounts in total (all account types; except you have several households, of course), how could you possibly create an "army" of basic accounts as mentioned at What does it cost to create additional Basic accounts?? The German translation says 5 per email address, though this doesn't make much more sense (if you want a limitation at all), because email addresses are essentially available for free in arbitrary numbers, if you don't care about the domain (or even have your own one).

For consistency I changed the german translation to reflect the 5 per household phrase. However, it would be really cool if there was a clear definition of how many accounts one can hold, when it´s called an army and so on... --Torben Trautman 20:54, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Help Island

I just submitted this feedback by using the http://lindenlab.wufoo.com form: In 5th section ("What are the consequences of creating or using illegitimate alts?"), the article states: "If you have a basic account, go to Help Island and talk to someone there.". That is NOT going to work. Please review that statement. It's misleading. As another user just said on Twitter, that's similar to say "Go talk to some random person about something only the Lab can help you with". My suggestion would be to remove the Help Island reference at all. --oobscure 07:04, 24 May 2011 (PDT)

A similar concern has been brought up about Linden Lab Official:Abandoned Land FAQ (Revision as of 03:08, 22 October 2009) > Can I trigger an auction for this land that looks abandoned?. Torley then removed the sentence about Basic Account residents, so that the text now reads as if only Premium Account holders can trigger a land auction (which is probably true).
I don't know whether something similar would apply here, but there obviously are legitimate reasons for basic account holders, too, to have more accounts than the default maximum of 5.
