I receive a "Graphics Card Unsupported" message when trying to open Second Life. However the Graphics Card is listed in the GNU list as a 3, so I don't understand what is happening. It is happening with both the main release and the newest release candidate</nowiki>

Summary

AMD 1.3GHz, GeForce 3 crashes

System

AMD 1.3GHz, GeForce 3 (A system I no longer have)

More info

My old AMD 1.3GHz, GeForce 3 system and would crash when many objects or people were in view. Games such as Far Cry and UT 2004 also crashed. I found that if I ran these really old (2003) video drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_44.03.html) SL would run stable, but any newer drivers would crash. If you have a old (1 - 1.5 GHz) AMD and a GeForce 2,3, or 4 that's crashing, please send in the crash reports and then IM me. Alternately, try the old nVidia drivers.

Summary

The laptop, which is brand new, crashes fairly often, say every 20 minutes of light use. It can crash even while I am sitting still. Have not noticed a pattern to what may be causing the crashes externally - it may be some internal factors. Crashing occurs even when the laptop is connected directly to the LAN. There are no viruses present, and I use Trend Micro Anti-virus, and MS Firewall (Win XP).

I am wondering if running in a compatibility mode or what other setting, could make the difference.

I know Intel is not officially supported, but I did see a note that chip sets of 945 and above should work well. I have tried a number of different graphics and video settings, but this has not changed behavior. Also, some texts inside SL are perfectly normal and clear, while in other environments such as inside chat and IM windows, the text is terribly broken up (i and l literally look identical, as an example). I have MS Word 2003 with all fonts installed. What else to do??

TIA.

Comments

Intel graphic is officially supported. see here. I'm not sure but one of my friend had same trouble, and After he reset "chat text size" to default then the problems gone. Would you mind try it?

I have the ATI Mobility FireGL V5200. It used to work but does not work any longer. That's really a shame because this is the video card standard on the IBM T60p and the laptop I was using to develop my own department conference room. I no longer have the ability to accomplish this and wish that were not the case.

NVIDIA 9200M GS on Samsung Q310 laptop not supported?

System

  • Laptop: Samsung Q310 q310-ass1uk
  • OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1
  • CPU: Intel Core2duo P8600 @2.40GHz
  • RAM: 4GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA 9200m GS
  • Driver version: Forceware 176.24

More info

Despite the Samsung website proudly proclaiming compatibility, and updating video drivers, I get the "Second Life is unable to run because your video drivers did not install properly, are out of date...etc" message. I have successfully run Splinter Cell and Far Cry, suggesting video drivers are up to date and installed correctly. I note that NVIDIA 9000 series cards are not explicitly listed as supported. Are there plans to fix this?

New laptop coming, need advice

I ordered over the Internet a new laptop, which I think was a Dell Inspiron 15. Those laptops apparently have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD, and I'm not sure whether that falls under system requirements of "at least Intel 945" (and I notice that some have reported trouble with the 960-series accelerators). Has anyone tried SL with an X4500HD? Jacquelina Matova 01:54, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
