Introduction of Daffodil Fargis

I am a DELTA-qualified English teacher and have taught in various context in different countries. I live in Turkey and teach on-site, online and in Second Life. My key interests include learner motivation, encouraging learner autonomy, ICT and the use of Web 2.0 tools and Virtual Worlds in teaching and learning languages.

At the moment I am enrolled in a one-year postgraduate certificate course MUVEnation ‘Teaching and learning with MUVEs’ funded by the EU. I am also involved in training teachers how to use Virtual Worlds, specifically Second Life, for language teaching.

I blog about my teaching experience in Second Life where I publish my lesson plans, post-lesson evaluations, pictures, tips and reflections about my learning and teaching. Teaching in Second Life

I have also created a Second Life group for language teachers together with two colleagues of mine. The group in-world is called SLexperiments Language Teachers. We meet regularly once a week to share our knowledge, help each other learn SL skills, discuss language learning and teaching in SL, demonstrate tools and go on field trips.
