Transcript
- [14:00] Michelle2 Zenovka: thinks why do people need to download the slviewer debs from my server right when i need the bandwidth, lol
- [14:01] Rob Linden: hi folks
- [14:01] Carjay McGinnis: can't you balance the load?
- [14:01] Carjay McGinnis: Hello Rob
- [14:01] Michelle2 Zenovka: Hey Rob
- [14:01] Michelle2 Zenovka: Carjay, um no its a NSLu2 a netgear and a 5Meg Broadband hehe
- [14:02] Carjay McGinnis: ok, I see *g*
- [14:02] Squirrel Wood: Mmm. I just love my 25/2 mbit connection XD
- [14:02] Rob Linden: argh....looks like the agenda wasn't updated from last week
- [14:03] Rob Linden: did anyone come here under the assumption we were going to go through those issues?
- [14:03] Rob Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Source_Meeting/Agenda
- [14:03] Soft Linden: Noop!
- [14:03] Michelle2 Zenovka: no, i was goign to wipe them, but could not remember if any were left there for any reason, then i forgot
- [14:03] Carjay McGinnis: ah, no, I was wondering if my browser didn't refresh properly, hm
- [14:03] Mm Alder: I notice that we haven't had transcripts of the meetings for the past month. Anyone know how to make them?
- [14:03] Rob Linden: what i generally do is use this tool:
- [14:03] Rob Linden: http://www.treekyomoon.com/wikifier.htm
- [14:04] Rob Linden: (when I do them)
- [14:04] Mm Alder: Are you making a transcript today?
- [14:04] Michelle2 Zenovka: i've got a saved log of one meeting that needs posting, will use that!
- [14:04] Rob Linden: I might, but if someone else wants to volunteer, I'd be very grateful
- [14:04] Carjay McGinnis: ah, cool
- [14:04] Rob Linden: btw, anything said here is fair game for posting to the transcript
- [14:05] Rob Linden: (we need a sign like Zero has at his office)
- [14:05] Mm Alder: How does one save a chat history to a file?
- [14:05] Rob Linden: I generally copy/paste it into tree's tool
- [14:06] Michelle2 Zenovka: notices that copy doesn't work
- [14:06] Mm Alder: Does it ever scrool off the top before you can copy it?
- [14:06] Rob Linden: let's sort through that after the meeting
- [14:07] Michelle2 Zenovka: SO what do we want to talk about?
- [14:07] Rob Linden: well...
- [14:07] Michelle2 Zenovka: Hows the branching process going, any targets for merge of cmake and or windlight etc?
- [14:07] Rob Linden: my default agenda is to have a triage of the "source code" component in JIRA
- [14:07] Michelle2 Zenovka: Ok sounds useful
- [14:08] Soft Linden: Hrm, I'd ping people tied to each project to ask when they plan a release merge.
- [14:08] Rob Linden: Liana, do you know if Sardonyx is planning on making a cmake-4 branch any time soon?
- [14:08] Rob Linden: Liana's project managing the CMake project
- [14:09] Michelle2 Zenovka: I've very keen to see cmake go live, its *really* helpful especialy in multiple parallel installs (with my unix install make target patch)
- [14:09] Liana Linden: We don't have a date for tha tyest.
- [14:09] Michelle2 Zenovka: Sardonyx has been great with my bugs as i've worked through the code
- [14:09] Liana Linden: thanks for the feedback, Michelle2.
- [14:10] Soft Linden: Looks like cmake-3 branched from release in early Jan. It'd be a good idea to merge up, as it's nowhere near 1.19
- [14:11] Rob Linden: pulls up query to paste into chat window...standby
- [14:12] Rob Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=10003&component=10081&status=1&status=3&status=4&sorter/field=issuetype&sorter/order=ASC&sorter/field=customfield_10002&sorter/order=ASC&sorter/field=customfield_10000&sorter/order=DESC
- [14:12] Rob Linden: let's step through the list at that query
- [14:12] Rob Linden: first issue is http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1263
- [14:12] Rob Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1263
- [14:12] Rob Linden: oops...
- [14:13] Rob Linden: Mac Universal binary build fails on first time
- [14:13] Soft Linden: That's old. Actually, I could close out some of the older source issues from my own experience if you wnant to move backward from the newest
- [14:14] Soft Linden: this one was resolved in like December
- [14:14] Rob Linden: ok.....let's skip ahead a little
- [14:15] Rob Linden: let's skip down to VWR-2788
- [14:15] Rob Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2788
- [14:15] Rob Linden: that one looks like it should be moved to the "meta" issue type (now that that exists)
- [14:16] Michelle2 Zenovka: i think its almost dead as well
- [14:16] Rob Linden: hooray!
- [14:16] Michelle2 Zenovka: nearly all the issues are addressed somewhere now
- [14:16] Rob Linden: k....I'm happy with just moving it for now. Next: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3721
- [14:17] Rob Linden: Michelle2: is this still a problem?
- [14:17] Michelle2 Zenovka: no, think thats ok now, the whole header issue will all be swept up by cmake so thats the solution here really
- [14:18] Michelle2 Zenovka: its just sily differences between different distros
- [14:18] Michelle2 Zenovka: but i see other issues have become mixed at the end
- [14:18] Rob Linden: ok...so, resolve/fixed? or is it premature to declare victory?
- [14:19] Rob Linden: if there are separate issues in the comments, those should probably be filed separately
- [14:19] Michelle2 Zenovka: leave for the minute, i'm behind on windlight status
- [14:19] Carjay McGinnis: me, too, I use 1.19 currently
- [14:19] Rob Linden: ok....we'll leave that one for now (setting "last triaged" date)
- [14:20] Rob Linden: actually, before I move on, is there anything actionable by one of our devs here?
- [14:21] Michelle2 Zenovka: Don't think so ATM
- [14:21] Rob Linden: I think I'd like to either resolve/need more info or assign to you, just so it's clear that there's no action for us just yet
- [14:22] Michelle2 Zenovka: ok, action me i will verify status
- [14:22] Rob Linden: cool, thanks
- [14:22] Rob Linden: next: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3913
- [14:23] Michelle2 Zenovka: needs more info? never seen this myself]
- [14:23] Carjay McGinnis: never had that
- [14:23] Q Linden: that's likely to be something about the local install of OpenGL
- [14:23] Carjay McGinnis: looks like some defines/headers were wrong
- [14:24] Rob Linden: yeah, could have been from before we had those headers properly published, too
- [14:24] Rob Linden: I'll mark it resolve/need info
- [14:24] Rob Linden: next ....
- [14:25] Rob Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4022
- [14:25] Michelle2 Zenovka: can't move that fast
- [14:26] Rob Linden: looks like this one is miscategorized, at least (not "source code" per se)
- [14:26] Q Linden: That seems like exactly the kind of patch we'd take fairly easily.
- [14:26] Rob Linden: agreed
- [14:26] Carjay McGinnis: might even be the decoder quitting
- [14:26] Michelle2 Zenovka: Depends what crashes? if its OJP then nothing *you* can do here
- [14:27] Rob Linden: seems like a valid issue, but I think it needs a repro case
- [14:27] Michelle2 Zenovka: yea a specific image file miss labeled that crashes would be great
- [14:27] Carjay McGinnis: yes, could happen in the decoder
- [14:28] Rob Linden: anyone want to volunteer to try a repro, and attach the offending image?
- [14:28] Rob Linden: (assuming it repros)
- [14:28] Michelle2 Zenovka: i'll fire a few images and see what happens
- [14:28] Rob Linden: cool, thanks!
- [14:29] Rob Linden: next : http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4070
- [14:30] Carjay McGinnis: yes, I had that happen on one region
- [14:30] Carjay McGinnis: not sure if maybe the texture was corrupt
- [14:31] Rob Linden: looks like you're the one who filed that one Carjay. I would hope it happened for you :)
- [14:31] Rob Linden: (not that I'm hoping for a bug...)
- [14:31] Carjay McGinnis: yes, lol, I meant I only had it happen on one region and not on others
- [14:31] Carjay McGinnis: it is not something that happened all the time
- [14:32] Rob Linden: Q and/or Soft, see any reason not to import. Patch attached and everything
- [14:32] Carjay McGinnis: the patch simply catches the error conditions and fails gracefully (I hope)
- [14:32] Rob Linden: (looks like "patch attached" flag is needed)
- [14:32] Michelle2 Zenovka: yea looks like good defensive programming
- [14:32] Q Linden: what does return TRUE do in this function?
- [14:33] Q Linden: mean, I mean
- [14:33] Carjay McGinnis: I have copied it from other failure handling code in the file
- [14:33] Soft Linden: Oof, yeah, this looks potentially bad
- [14:34] Soft Linden: I can take this one directly to look at, verify
- [14:34] Carjay McGinnis: not sure how it is handled on the upper layers, I hope it simply drops the texture but not sure what other consequences this might have
- [14:34] Rob Linden: k....sounds like there's some review that's needed, but the bug is certainly valid
- [14:35] Rob Linden: I'll mark as patch and import. assign to you Soft?
- [14:35] Soft Linden: Right. I'll make sure it handles that cleanly.
- [14:35] Soft Linden: Please
- [14:35] Carjay McGinnis: ok, thanks
- [14:35] Soft Linden: Still inattentive, barreling through the ancient ones I've already seen fixes for
- [14:35] Rob Linden: cool, next up:
- [14:35] Rob Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3455
- [14:36] Michelle2 Zenovka: Microsoft bug
- [14:37] Michelle2 Zenovka: "It is indeed a regression from VC8 SP1 to VC9"
- [14:37] Q Linden: is there a workaround?
- [14:37] Rob Linden: yeah, we should probably mark it "won't fix", and perhaps revisit the idea of a workaround in six months if there's not a service pack to fix it
- [14:38] Rob Linden: I suppose we should think about Q's point
- [14:39] Rob Linden: looking at the comment from the MS guy, it's a likely candidate for a fix in a SP, so we probably shouldn't kill ourselves with workarounds
- [14:39] Q Linden: Depends on how much uptake there is of VC9 between now and then. But yeah
- [14:40] Rob Linden: k...moving on
- [14:40] Rob Linden: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4390
- [14:41] Rob Linden: we should import this one, I bet
- [14:41] Rob Linden: I'm 99% certain this is just an svn props issue in our internal repository
- [14:42] Michelle2 Zenovka: i don't test any of that part of mozlib
- [14:42] Q Linden: yeah, our postcommit hook was broken for a while, I think
- [14:42] Rob Linden: well, it's checked in as a ".patch", which I bet doesn't get a check
- [14:42] Carjay McGinnis: I think i noticed it but simply converted it
- [14:43] Rob Linden: it's an annoyance with a super easy fix
- [14:43] Rob Linden: (I'll do it)
- [14:43] Rob Linden: next: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4469
- [14:44] Boroondas Gupte: wow, what a title ...
- [14:44] Michelle2 Zenovka: I got this once, but i can't for the life of me remember how i caused it to happen
- [14:44] Carjay McGinnis: freetype is weird
- [14:44] Carjay McGinnis: strange directory structure, think I needed some weird symlinks but not sure if that was in an unrelated project, hm
- [14:45] Soft Linden: It looks to me like he's trying to do a 64 bit build without using his own libraries. We don't offer 64 bit libs for most things
- [14:45] Carjay McGinnis: but have not seen that specific error
- [14:45] Saijanai Kuhn: The patent has expeired on TT anyway.
- [14:45] Rob Linden: resolve/need info?
- [14:45] Soft Linden: 4469?
- [14:46] Michelle2 Zenovka: ah yes, looks like mixing 32/64 bits in a way that doesn't work
- [14:46] Soft Linden: That can be closed as won't fix - he needs to provide his own libs for a 64-bit build. We don't support what he's attempting
- [14:46] Soft Linden: I'll add a note and close it if that's okay
- [14:46] Rob Linden: go for it!
- [14:46] Rob Linden: thanks Soft. Next up: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3808
- [14:47] Michelle2 Zenovka: Yea, that was a temporary patch, who cares now with 1.19 and the web based log in rolled back
- [14:47] Rob Linden: ok...I was a little confused with the 1.19 affects version marked
- [14:48] Michelle2 Zenovka: Ohhhhhh
- [14:48] Michelle2 Zenovka: Loads of 1.18.6.X bugs seem to have become 1.19.X ?
- [14:48] Saijanai Kuhn: in the long run, thaissue has to be taken into consideration though
- [14:49] Rob Linden: oh really?
- [14:49] Rob Linden: (ugh)
- [14:49] Soft Linden: Yeah. I wonder if someone nuked the 1.18.6 field, and the enumeration got reused?
- [14:49] Soft Linden: er 1.18.6 value
- [14:49] Rob Linden: looks at change history
- [14:49] Michelle2 Zenovka: The issue, yes, the specific implementation no
- [14:49] Saijanai Kuhn: because SLproxy and similar tools would all break the same way
- [14:49] Rob Linden: oh gross, I think some smartypants renamed 1.18.6 in jira rather than creating a new affects version
- [14:50] Soft Linden: d'oh
- [14:50] Saijanai Kuhn: winces
- [14:50] Soft Linden: Going to be lots of confusing viewer auth bugs in 1.19 :)
- [14:50] Rob Linden: no joke
- [14:50] Rob Linden: is sad
- [14:50] Carjay McGinnis: oh dear, happy sorting :-/
- [14:50] Soft Linden: I'm laughing. But it's not a healthy laugh.
- [14:50] Michelle2 Zenovka: Basicly in 1.19 we are back to the original auth so this patch does nothing currently
- [14:51] Squirrel Wood: BUG REPORT!
- [14:51] Squirrel Wood: Tools > Bug Reporting..
- [14:51] Squirrel Wood: http://jira.secondlife.com
- [14:51] Rob Linden: k....so we'll resolve/won't fix then
- [14:51] Michelle2 Zenovka: Yea, 1.18.6 is dead long live 1.19
- [14:52] Rob Linden: wishes there was version control on jira configuration
- [14:52] Carjay McGinnis: yes, 1.19 is great
- [14:52] Rob Linden: next up: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4550
- [14:53] Michelle2 Zenovka: Not tried a no mozlib build so can't confirm
- [14:53] Carjay McGinnis: me neither, was happy enough when it finally worked
- [14:54] Michelle2 Zenovka: looks live some missing XUI_ENABLED
- [14:54] Rob Linden: k....looks valid, but also looks like one that we're likely to postpone until after CMake transition
- [14:54] Rob Linden: patches welcome, though
- [14:54] Rob Linden: I'll mark "last triaged" and comment, but otherwise leave intact
- [14:54] Michelle2 Zenovka: ok
- [14:55] Carjay McGinnis: yes, but seems still in Branch-1-19-0
- [14:55] Carjay McGinnis: just looked at the source code
- [14:56] Carjay McGinnis: LL_LIBXUL_ENABLED is missing
- [14:56] Michelle2 Zenovka: It sems like its only Seg running with out mzolib these days so no oen is catching it
- [14:56] Rob Linden: oh, Carjay, that's a good point
- [14:56] Soft Linden: I can snag this one too
- [14:56] Rob Linden: cool, thanks Soft
- [14:57] Soft Linden: Will do a mozlibless build.
- [14:57] Rob Linden: k....that's all of the bugs (other than the old ones we skipped)
- [14:57] Rob Linden: w00t
- [14:57] Liana Linden: awesome
- [14:57] Carjay McGinnis: just in time :)
- [14:57] Rob Linden: that was really useful, I think
- [14:58] Q Linden: thanks, all -- gotta bolt!
- [14:58] Rob Linden: thanks everyone!
- [14:58] Rob Linden: any last minute stuff before I take off?
- [14:58] Carjay McGinnis: not from me, thanks, Rob
- [14:58] Michelle2 Zenovka: is openjpeg up to 1.3 yet?
- [14:58] Mm Alder: Are you going to post the transcript?
- [14:59] Rob Linden: if no one else volunteers
- [14:59] Liana Linden: see ya.
- [14:59] Mm Alder: Great. I missed reading the transcripts the past few weeks.
