While it is impossible for an avatar to fall off the edge of the world, that is to try and go beyond the current simulator into the watery void where there is no region, it is possible for objects to fall off the edge. When an object passes over the edge into the nothingness beyond, it can either be deleted (STATUS_DIE_AT_EDGE) or returned (STATUS_RETURN_AT_EDGE). Considering how unfriendly this situation is, there is a function to detect world edges, llEdgeOfWorld.
