There is a very large amount of data stored in the Public Issue Tracker; luckily, you have some powerful searching tools at your command to find issues that are important to you!

==Performing a search==

# Click on the '''Find Issues''' link at the top of the screen.
# Enter the parameters you wish to search for in the search textbox on the left-hand side of the screen.

For example, to search for issues containing the word "avatar" that have not been resolved, choose the following parameters:

* Project = all projects
* Text search = avatar
* Resolutions = Unresolved
==Searching for recently resolved issues==

If you are interested in finding out what improvements have recently been made to Second Life, you may wish to find recently resolved issues in a particular JIRA project. JIRA's search tools provide you with this ability. For example, to find all bugs in the Second Life Viewer project that were resolved between September 1, 2008 and September 14, 2008, enter the following parameters:

* ''Optional:'' Click the '''New''' link in the search pane to clear settings from any previous searches
* Project = Second Life Viewer
* Resolution = Fixed
* Updated After = August 31, 2008
* Updated Before = September 15, 2008
==Saving a search as a filter==

A search ''filter'' is a saved search that you may share with others. If you often find yourself setting the same search parameters, you may wish to save your search as a filter!

# After performing a search, you may save it as a filter by clicking the '''Save''' link in the Search pane.
# Name the filter something meaningful, for example "Unresolved avatar bugs in all projects."
# Now you can access the search and run it at any time by clicking the '''Filter''' link on the top right side of the page. This can save time and effort if you frequently run the same complex search and want a handy shortcut!

{{KBnote| You must be logged into the Issue Tracker in order to save a search filter.}}

==Video Tutorial==

This article provides a few examples of the search criteria you can use in the Public Issue Tracker. View [[How to search the Public Issue Tracker - Video Tutorial]] for additional search tips.
