Place Holder Linden Lab Linux build environment is Debian Wheezy customized to gcc-4.6.3( xxxx ). Debian Wheezy is now old stable, Debian Jessie is stable, and Debian Stretch is testing and at this writing is close to Debian Jessie. Debian Jessie does not have a gcc-4.6 package. Debian Stretch has a gcc-4.6 package and has gcc-4.7, -4.8, and -4.9 which makes it a good candidate to use as a build environment. Debian Testing (alias stretch at this time) will be used as the build system. Download Testing net install iso file. This file may still be at Jessie the old testing and current stable distribution. If that is the case an upgrade to Stretch can be processed after Jessie is installed. Procedures that follow will used Debian Stretch with xfce Display manager.
