This meeting was held on January 5th, 2011

Agenda

  • Happy New Year!!

Updates

  • We almost got a new RC this week...

Upcoming Stuff

  • new maint-server
  • Features
  • New LSL function integer llSetRegionPos(vector position)
The object with the script will move the root prim position to the given location. The position is any position within the region. If the position is below ground, it will be set to the ground level at that X,Y spot. The function has no delay or throttle.
    • Returns 1 if the object is successfully placed within 0.1 m of position.
    • Returns 0 and does not move the object if position is more than 10m off region or above 4096m.
    • Returns 0 and does not move the object if the object is dynamic (has physics enabled).
    • Returns 0 and does not move the object if the object can not move to position due to object entry rules, prim limits, bans, etc.
  • "frame_number" option added to llGetEnv()
Returns an integer that represents the current 'frame' of the simulator. Generally only useful for specific debugging cases.
  • Bug Fixes
    • SVC-7466 A notecard holds more data than a script can read
    • SVC-7520 Keyframe motion doesn't move towards the correct position when specified time is not an exact multiple of 1/45 seconds
    • SVC-7485 llSetKeyframedMotion cannot stop animation if none is running ... sounds less important than it is ...
    • SVC-7493 Weird mesh land impact issue
    • Fixed several simulator crash bugs and potential memory leaks.

  • [15:08] Fancy Greeter: Kelly Linden has arrived!
  • [15:09] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: It's a Kelly.
  • [15:09] Miguael Liamano: we got Mesh deformer, not quite funny, but happy
  • [15:09] Rex Cronon: seems that this new year my helmet has gone missing
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: and kelly
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: wow
  • [15:09] Rex Cronon: last year was my hat...
  • [15:09] Theresa Tennyson: Ooo, three Lindens. I've only ever seen one before.
  • [15:09] Rex Cronon: at this rate in a few lindesn i will be naked:)
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: I bbq'd a turkey in my charcoal grill Christmas morning
  • [15:10] Oskar Linden: it was amazing
  • [15:10] Homeless: We need Gov. Linden to show up sometime
  • [15:10] Rex Cronon: a few years*
  • [15:10] Oskar Linden: well I suppose I should get on with the agenda
  • [15:10] Latif Khalifa: good thing you can bbq in decmber
  • [15:10] Oskar Linden: we did do a release this Tuesday morning
  • [15:10] Fancy Greeter: Kelly Linden has arrived!
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: I slept through it T_T
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: good thing we have amazing release staff
  • [15:11] Homeless: it must have been uneventful
  • [15:11] arton Rotaru: at least they are awake :p
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: it was the fixed voice code that was on the grid all the holidays
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: so that went well
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: then we tried releasing this: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_BlueSteel/12
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: that code was fine but we had an outage in a datacenter early this morning
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: and we lost an entire rack of machines
  • [15:13] Motor Loon: ouch
  • [15:13] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Oops.
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: so we had to postpone the release
  • [15:13] Miguael Liamano: ow
  • [15:13] Jonathan Yap: How many machines in a rack?
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: we will push it out next week
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: how many machines do we have in a rack maestro? like 40?
  • [15:14] Homeless: how many regions is that?
  • [15:14] Motor Loon: alot
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: you can fit a lot of mac mini's in a tiny space
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: :-p
  • [15:14] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Well if they're all quad cores, 40x4. :p
  • [15:14] Rex Cronon: r u guys trying to melt steel in a microwave? that is how lost the whole rack?
  • [15:14] Jonathan Yap: 7 or 8 sims per machine
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: we had a switch die
  • [15:14] Flip Idlemind: I still say llSetRegionPos needs a PRIM_REGION_POS (or something like that) flag to go with it
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: tell kelly
  • [15:15] Latif Khalifa: typical rack is 42 "units" so if the server is 1U you can theoretically cram 42 in them
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: I was close
  • [15:15] Motor Loon: probably some more in the rack too besides servers?
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: I have not actu8ally been in one of our datacenters
  • [15:15] Gypsy Paz: does llSetRegionPos() set it as a prim property?
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: not sure if we have 1 or 2u servers
  • [15:15] Latif Khalifa: you are probably correct because usually 2U is used for network switch etc
  • [15:15] Kelly Linden: I have, but not for many years.
  • [15:16] Motor Loon: yeah
  • [15:16] Maestro Linden: yes Gypsy, it's just like llSetPos() except without the 10m limit
  • [15:16] Kelly Linden: Was 1u when I saw them last for sim hosts.
  • [15:16] Oskar Linden: kelly are you the one to ask about LlSetRegionPos
  • [15:16] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: They must be loud on cooling then, heh.
  • [15:16] Homeless: I heard a rumor that the servers are locked up behind bullet proof glass
  • [15:16] Motor Loon: hehe... probably too much watching mission imposslbe
  • [15:16] Kelly Linden: Not "the" one but I can answer questions.
  • [15:17] Gypsy Paz: ooo I see, how awesome!! ㋡
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: there might have been more questions had the code made it out :-)
  • [15:17] Homeless: too many x-files episodes
  • [15:17] Flip Idlemind: Well then, is the original (hacky) posjump going to be officially, completely broken once llSetRegionPos is released
  • [15:17] Kelly Linden: Perhaps. :)
  • [15:17] Latif Khalifa: i can finally kill my warpos teleporters ;)
  • [15:17] Motor Loon: laser forcefields and automated killer drones
  • [15:17] Kelly Linden: flip: I don't think we plan on intentionally breaking it but we will probably stop trying to intentionally make it work.
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: well said kelly
  • [15:18] Gypsy Paz: anything in the pipeline for crossing sim borders?
  • [15:18] Miguael Liamano: I vote for Portal turrets.
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: there are always things in the pipeline
  • [15:18] Motor Loon: god, we really really need more stabile crossings
  • [15:18] Latif Khalifa: in soviet russia portal turrent vote for you :P
  • [15:18] Jonathan Yap: There should be a scripters notices line on the main page http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Blogs/ct-p/Blogs
  • [15:18] Motor Loon: the speed is ok, but they are just damn unstabile
  • [15:18] Rex Cronon: the thing about posjupw was that u could move an object along a path, and control the speed more or less
  • [15:19] Flip Idlemind: I wouldn't mind if you stop intentionally making it work, IF llSetRegionPos were also implemented as an llSLPPF flag
  • [15:19] Rex Cronon: i mean warpos
  • [15:19] Gypsy Paz: well, Rex, the new keyframe functions I think will take that pathing and speed setting over ツ
  • [15:19] Latif Khalifa: but we are getting llTeleportAgent soon, right. For l337 c0derz :P
  • [15:19] Motor Loon: take a sailboat thru 50 simcrossings on mainland, and you'll have 30 of them fail on ya
  • [15:19] Rex Cronon: doesn't the keyframe still have bugs in it?
  • [15:20] Rex Cronon: and u could also go more than just 10m into the next sim
  • [15:20] Jonathan Yap: It would be nice if the return code told you more than success or failure
  • [15:21] WolfPup Lowenhar: ok FYI a 'typacal' racksetup will use 8U for rack APU then there is 3u used for power distro then 2u used for network switching and then 10 2U servers and finaly 7u used for internal rack air circulation
  • [15:21] Oskar Linden: what other codes would you need?
  • [15:21] Latif Khalifa: is it blocking? ie. it will move thing in one frame and by the time script returns it either failed or it's at new pos?
  • [15:22] Miguael Liamano: Sion's mainframe.. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  • [15:22] Gypsy PazGypsy Paz is loving all these awesome new functions we've been getting lately ㋡
  • [15:22] Jonathan Yap: It might be nice to know, say, the object could not move because of parcel restrictions
  • [15:22] Kelly Linden: Latif: for llSetRegionPos? Yes.
  • [15:22] Jonathan Yap: You could then print out an appropriate message
  • [15:22] Latif Khalifa: yeah. cool, thanks
  • [15:22] Kelly Linden: latif: unless it crosses a region border
  • [15:23] Kelly Linden: well, I mean, the call is still blocking but it may take longer.
  • [15:23] Jonathan Yap: or if there is some issue making it into the adjacent region, you might want to try again later
  • [15:23] Latif Khalifa: but there is no region crossing in llSetRegionPos
  • [15:23] Latif Khalifa: right?
  • [15:23] Kelly Linden: Yes there is. Up to 10m into a neighbor
  • [15:23] Latif Khalifa: ah
  • [15:23] Jonathan Yap: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_BlueSteel/12
  • [15:24] Gypsy Paz: does it have delay?
  • [15:24] Kelly Linden: No delay
  • [15:24] Motor Loon: hm
  • [15:24] Latif Khalifa: hm, it would probably be cleaner if llSetRegionPos just disallowed region crossing altogether
  • [15:25] Latif Khalifa: just clamp x,y to 0-255
  • [15:25] Kelly Linden: We felt that would make the scripts using it more complicated since they would have to use both it AND llSetPos to cross the border
  • [15:25] Rex Cronon: how would go to next sim, latif?
  • [15:25] Rex Cronon: would u*
  • [15:25] Gypsy Paz: noooo, crossing <10 meters into the next sim is perfect!!! although might need a short llSleep() before calling it again in the new region
  • [15:25] Flip Idlemind: But then if you're doing many position changes in a row, each of which may or may not cross into another region, you'd have to check that every time
  • [15:26] Latif Khalifa: this function is for setting object postion within a sim
  • [15:26] Oskar Linden: hopefully the code will get out next week
  • [15:27] Rex Cronon: latif. there r vehicles that use warpos. without the ability to go to next sim u couldn't not have such vehicles
  • [15:27] Latif Khalifa: non physical vehicles?
  • [15:27] Rex Cronon: yes
  • [15:27] Latif Khalifa: that's ugly and should be banned :P
  • [15:27] Rex Cronon: aka NPV
  • [15:27] Rex Cronon: no. that is beautiful:)
  • [15:28] Oskar Linden: :-)
  • [15:28] Maestro Linden: we also have a fix for SVC-7540 that we're testing on aditi now, which will hopefully also be in RC next week
  • [15:28] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7540] Offline email notifications received but never delivered on login. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7540
  • [15:28] Latif Khalifa: i've seen 200 prim "yachts" do that. it's trully ugly. plus it has to be difficult for the sim
  • [15:28] Rex Cronon: without such vehicles people would be dead meat at rausch:)
  • [15:28] Motor Loon: the "mutelist" issue
  • [15:28] Gypsy Paz: lol, if it didn't let us jump sims, people would still want to use warppos and posjump ツ
  • [15:28] Latif Khalifa: mute a random person to get offline IMs working. that was a funny side effect ;)
  • [15:29] Motor Loon: indeed
  • [15:29] Jonathan Yap: Do you know what the fix involved?
  • [15:29] Theresa Tennyson: Oh, the mutelist problem is bad - glad it's being fixed.
  • [15:29] Rex Cronon: if u unmute does IM bork again?
  • [15:29] Motor Loon: is it true its comes from a "copybot" automute that was removed?
  • [15:29] Motor Loon: you just need something on your mutelist... anything...
  • [15:30] Rex Cronon: even objects?
  • [15:30] Motor Loon: just pick someones name you've never met and mute em °͜°
  • [15:30] Latif Khalifa: yeah you can mute pavement or a tree :p
  • [15:30] Motor Loon: I think aslong as it's not empty you're good
  • [15:30] Flip Idlemind: What problem is caused by it being empty? ◯.(⁐)
  • [15:30] Jonathan Yap: Some for loop was programmed wrong
  • [15:30] Miguael Liamano: funny
  • [15:31] Oskar Linden: maestro we've got some other code getting into rc next week too right?
  • [15:31] Theresa Tennyson: If it's empty you don't get notices or deliveries that arrive when you're offline.
  • [15:31] Latif Khalifa: my guess: server has a flag "did i send mute list to the viwer, when i finish sending that i will send the offline IMs"
  • [15:31] Miguael Liamano: Speaking about programmation. I filled another jira this morning.but it's VWR, so it's out of this meeting's scope
  • [15:31] Latif Khalifa: and if you do't have za mute list it never gets sent
  • [15:31] Latif Khalifa: </guess>
  • [15:32] Rex Cronon: my mute list is overpopulated. that explains why i always get offline IMs:)
  • [15:32] Motor Loon: Its almost like a cool feature eh... haha... mabye some people who already had the IMs offline, dont really want them inworld too
  • [15:32] Maestro Linden: oskar, it's just that mute bugfix and the stuff we had planned for this week's RC..
  • [15:32] Jonathan Yap: Is there a length limit to the mute list?
  • [15:32] Maestro Linden: I don't think there will be anything else, in terms of server releases
  • [15:32] Flip Idlemind: Someone with a high tolerance for annoyance must have discovered that...who hasn't muted anyone?
  • [15:33] Motor Loon: I hadn't anyone on my mutelist
  • [15:33] Theresa Tennyson: It's alts and newbies that were most effected.
  • [15:33] Motor Loon: had not had anyone there for years
  • [15:33] Oskar Linden: oh ok I thought we might get another RC in
  • [15:33] Oskar Linden: I guess it'll take a few weeks to ramp up the release engine again
  • [15:33] Motor Loon: If you're a nice guy, you dont get enemies haha...
  • [15:33] Miguael Liamano: I had issues with offline ims, but now that I remember, it started when I cleared my mute list.
  • [15:33] Leonel Iceghost: any plans for new releases?
  • [15:34] Oskar Linden: we always have plans
  • [15:34] Leonel Iceghost: you want to share..
  • [15:34] Oskar Linden: we just usually can't communicate them
  • [15:34] Leonel Iceghost: :P
  • [15:34] Leonel Iceghost: oh ok
  • [15:35] Homeless: many of them are probably "cunning plans" too
  • [15:35] Rex Cronon: if u go to sandbox u need to have at least Object muted, else u r drawned in "Hello world" messages:)
  • [15:35] Theresa Tennyson: So if you tell us you have to de-rezz us?
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: if people say we never get anything done around here give them this URL: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/11
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: that is 1 years worth of released code to the servers
  • [15:35] Flip Idlemind: Speaking of things you probably can't tell us, is this llTeleportAgent() thing just a rumor, or something that's definitely planned / scheduled to be released?
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: 50 releases
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: FIFTY!
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: that blows my mind still
  • [15:36] Motor Loon: yeah lots of fixes done this year
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: when I started here we were lucky to get 1 out per quarter
  • [15:36] Latif Khalifa: give the viewer guys some of the same juice :Å
  • [15:36] Miguael Liamano: yeah.
  • [15:36] Leonel Iceghost: you did a great job for LSL this last year, I was very happy
  • [15:36] Jonathan Yap: There is an extra day this year, maybe you will get 51!
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: I am so excited for 229
  • [15:36] Miguael Liamano: I found a pretty nasty flaw in the new snapshot floater..
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: I turn 9
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: I don't often get to celebrate a real birthday
  • [15:37] Motor Loon: hm... cake.... and strippers...
  • [15:37] Latif Khalifa: dob feb 29?
  • [15:37] Oskar Linden: yup yup
  • [15:37] Latif Khalifa: hehe
  • [15:37] Gypsy Paz: omg, your bday is on leap day? how cool is that!!!
  • [15:37] Jonathan Yap: I hope you take that day off
  • [15:37] Oskar Linden: I should!
  • [15:37] Homeless: do you replace with 2-28 or 3-01 on off years?
  • [15:37] Oskar Linden: 2-28
  • [15:37] Oskar Linden: I'm a strict Febrarian ^_^
  • [15:37] Motor Loon: or... you could go to work and everybody else took the day off
  • [15:38] Rex Cronon: lol. u turn 9?
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: finalyl!
  • [15:38] Homeless: lol if i was born 1 day later I would have hit halloweeen
  • [15:38] Jonathan Yap: Rex, now you can work out what year Oskar was born in
  • [15:38] Miguael Liamano: It saddens me, but I must leave for now. I'll try next time
  • [15:38] Rex Cronon: i realize that:)
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: while we're looking back at 2011 and all the releases I do want to thank all of you who help us help make SL a better place
  • [15:39] Rex Cronon: tc
  • [15:39] Theresa Tennyson: Bye Miguael!
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: we got a LOT done
  • [15:39] Miguael LiamanoMiguael Liamano waves
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: *waves*
  • [15:39] Gypsy Paz: are we allowed to make up new LL functions in chat here? ㋡
  • [15:39] Motor Loon: but you know Oskar... that means our expectations will be even higher for this year ... right? °͜°
  • [15:40] Homeless: yes we are expecting 100 releases for 2012
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: yours and my bosses
  • [15:40] WolfPup Lowenhar: oskar was born in 76
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: you won't get 100 releases
  • [15:40] Motor Loon: true that
  • [15:40] Homeless: hehe
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: unless Kelly gets an even crazier plan
  • [15:40] Motor Loon: Kelly would
  • [15:40] Kelly Linden: you heard him oskar - he wants 2 releases a week!
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: now if you count the RC's as releases...
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: then we're doing 4 a week on average
  • [15:40] Gypsy Paz: ll, 2 releases a week would be crazy even without a plan :P
  • [15:41] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Kelly's plan will be to break sex beds again.
  • [15:41] Motor Loon: let hope so
  • [15:41] Motor Loon: lol
  • [15:41] Motor Loon: then break zyngo machines
  • [15:41] Motor Loon: and breedable pets
  • [15:41] Theresa Tennyson: Don't you know you're supposed to fix all the problems but not make any changes?
  • [15:41] Rex Cronon: kill the chicken?
  • [15:41] WolfPup Lowenhar: oskar your 9 yrs younger than me :)
  • [15:41] Flip Idlemind: I want a way to do releases that takes 5 minutes for the whole grid! (I'm not one of those people who complains about restart times, I just think that would be cool)
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: inline releases would be a nice goal
  • [15:42] Flip Idlemind: You're welcome
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: server updates without taking down the simulator process :-p
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: I'll put it on Kelly's back burner
  • [15:42] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Heh...
  • [15:43] Leonel Iceghost: that can be done perhaps with the new crossing code
  • [15:43] WolfPup Lowenhar: the problem there is the ip switching
  • [15:43] Leonel Iceghost: which is instant
  • [15:43] Maestro Linden: just make it so that all the objects and avatars in the sim do something like a 'region crossing' all at once :P
  • [15:43] Homeless: not going back to the take the whole grid down on Wednesdays? awww
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: kelly, anything upcoming you want to talk about?
  • [15:43] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Another nice goal - if a script causes a crash, stop the script engine, restart it, don't actually cause a 'crash' - do the same for physics too. :P
  • [15:43] Kelly Linden: seems like with ( a lot ) of server and viewer work you could handle a transition without a relog - essentially an in-place teleport to a mirror region running the new code on a new host. There would be an interruption still but minimal "hold on while we update your server version ...."
  • [15:44] Leonel Iceghost: only dinamic object has to cross, the rest can be made "cross" slowly
  • [15:44] Flip Idlemind: Imagine doing the weekly deploy, and no one even notices...
  • [15:44] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Or basically, make the sims modular and that each module can be restarted if it crashes without taking the entire sim down.
  • [15:44] Kelly Linden: The only interesting stuff I have is a couple maint server versions out.
  • [15:44] Latif Khalifa: how long does it take for a sim to start?
  • [15:45] Gypsy Paz: sim restarts take noticably longer than they did a few years ago
  • [15:45] WolfPup Lowenhar: i think thast depends on the complexity of the objects on the sim
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: maint-servers are good. that means bugs are getting fixed
  • [15:45] Latif Khalifa: loading simstate and stuff
  • [15:46] Kelly Linden: Yeah the one coming up that every one knows for llSetRegionPos has a few good memory leak and crash fixes I'm looking forward to seeing released as well.
  • [15:47] Theresa Tennyson: Does anyone know if the problem with SL gradually eating up memory until it crashes a server problem or a viewer problem?
  • [15:47] Leonel Iceghost: maybe there could be a way to auto restart behind the escenes when the viewer crash, so you don't have to try manually (almost always you log just fine back)
  • [15:47] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Theresa - that'll be viewer.
  • [15:47] Motor Loon: yeah
  • [15:47] Motor Loon: seems lots of the viewers do that
  • [15:48] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Mesh made the viewer's memory requirements higher.
  • [15:48] Maestro Linden: Theresa, the viewer team is looking into some internal reports of that, recently
  • [15:48] Motor Loon: probably not mesh, but the renderengine
  • [15:48] Theresa Tennyson: I saw. It hits me in crowded places.
  • [15:48] Flip Idlemind: The simplest solution, of course, is to have a minimum of 6gb of memory
  • [15:48] Leonel Iceghost: yes, in my old computer the fps drops to 5 after a half hour/two hours of use, you restart it goes back to ~20/30
  • [15:48] Motor Loon: hehe
  • [15:48] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Actually, Runitai fixed quite a big memory leak in the rendering engine - one I pointed out to him.
  • [15:49] Jonathan Yap: The viewer can't use more than 4Gb of memory though -- 32 bit limit
  • [15:49] WolfPup Lowenhar: yes the viewer had a bunch of different places that there was memory leaks but alot of those are fixed in the current V3 code bace for the viewer
  • [15:50] Motor Loon: I want my sidebar back
  • [15:50] Motor Loon: lol
  • [15:50] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: -.-
  • [15:50] Flip Idlemind: I still have my sidebar
  • [15:50] Motor Loon: its gone from the new code
  • [15:50] MartinRJ Fayray: yes we want the sidebar back, just let it pop out ... somehow :)
  • [15:50] Theresa Tennyson: Meetings like this for the viewer team would get... interesting.
  • [15:50] Motor Loon: I guess because Rod hated it too
  • [15:51] Motor Loon: lol
  • [15:51] Flip Idlemind: I have the new code and the sidebar, cuz Im magic!
  • [15:51] Flip Idlemind: Gyaahaahah ooooh
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: well that is all I have for you this week
  • [15:51] Motor Loon: riding the shortbus dont make you magic Flip hehehe
  • [15:51] WolfPup Lowenhar: Motor you can 'simulate' the sidebar by puting the buttons you use the most on the right side and ahave the loater associated with that button open on the right side of the viewer
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: there will probably be more next week as teams get ramped up on production
  • [15:51] Motor Loon: it makes you 'special'
  • [15:51] Flip Idlemind: Im both
  • [15:51] Motor Loon: hm.. ill give that a try wolf
  • [15:52] arton Rotaru: cool I'm at the top of the script list now^^
  • [15:52] arton Rotaru: no idea where I have 120 scripts attached though^^
  • [15:52] WolfPup LowenharWolfPup Lowenhar < has some of his floaters configured that way
  • [15:52] Theresa Tennyson: Motor, only make your menus take up the bottom 2/3 of the window though so you have room for the announcements in the upper right corner.
  • [15:53] Sahkolihaa ContepomiSahkolihaa Contepomi only just noticed Motor is using Exodus as he is.
  • [15:53] Flip Idlemind: And Im using the
  • [15:53] Leonel Iceghost: is there a way for you to make a say "50 faces prims" with the condition is has no more than say "four textures" on it, for rendering text?
  • [15:53] Flip Idlemind: Cookie Viewer!
  • [15:54] Leonel Iceghost: like you did new prims for meshes, it should be easier
  • [15:54] Vincent Nacon: sorry I was late
  • [15:54] Vincent Nacon: any big news I missed out?
  • [15:54] Flip Idlemind: They're gonna start doing 2 releases a week!
  • [15:54] Motor Loon: yes, Exodus is very impressive
  • [15:55] Vincent Nacon: that's not news, Flip... that's terrorism!
  • [15:55] Flip Idlemind: Im kidding, of course
  • [15:55] Flip Idlemind: It'll only be 1
  • [15:55] Flip Idlemind: EVERY DAY!
  • [15:55] Leonel Iceghost: hahahaha
  • [15:55] arton Rotaru: atomic border crossings, and Falcon added Havok Vehicles Nacon :p
  • [15:55] Vincent Nacon: no changes or progress?
  • [15:55] Vincent Nacon: err... wait what?
  • [15:56] Homeless: we were forced to choose between 1 a day and having the grid shut down on Wednesdays again for the release
  • [15:56] Vincent Nacon: already? what a clown!
  • [15:56] arton Rotaru: joke of course , sorry ^^
  • [15:56] Vincent Nacon: jumping the gun on vehicle, seriously?
  • [15:56] Vincent Nacon: oh ok
  • [15:56] Flip Idlemind: Seriously though we did talk about the possibility of doing releases without actually having to do restarts
  • [15:56] Flip Idlemind: But, we just "talked" about it
  • [15:56] arton Rotaru: but, anything about the upcoming Pathfinding System Rod Humble mentioned?
  • [15:57] Flip Idlemind: It's not "planned" or anything
  • [15:57] Flip Idlemind: Would be cool though
  • [15:57] Vincent Nacon: I doubt that'll happen, without restarts, that is
  • [15:57] Gypsy Paz: sadly, pathfinding is still under the NDA
  • [15:57] Maestro Linden: nothing public, arton :)
  • [15:57] Oskar Linden: as soon as we have pathfinding info we'll pass it on
  • [15:57] Flip Idlemind: New years resolution: no doubting that things will happen!
  • [15:57] Theresa Tennyson: Ooo, more sekrits. Iti's exciting here.
  • [15:57] Vincent Nacon: oh really? NDA? that tells me A LOT about it
  • [15:58] arton Rotaru: kk, I just had to ask :p
  • [15:58] Jonathan Yap: I bet you see an announcement about new last names before you see one about pathfinding
  • [15:58] Oskar Linden: I have recentlly put my best qa guy on it
  • [15:58] Vincent Nacon: :P
  • [15:58] Flip Idlemind: Oskar, you're not your best qa guy?
  • [15:58] Oskar Linden: I am not
  • [15:58] Vincent Nacon: if it's under NDA... you really shouldn't comment anything about it
  • [15:58] Vincent Nacon: but thanks for the "implied"
  • [15:59] Oskar Linden: so do any of you have an y resolutions for the new year?
  • [15:59] Leonel Iceghost: about the pathfinding, it would be great if you could say "I can jump 2 meters" or "I'm a flying thing"
  • [15:59] Vincent Nacon: yeah, take over Linden Lab with iron fists
  • [15:59] Homeless: I resolve to be more resolute about breaking resolutions
  • [15:59] Flip Idlemind: Learn new things and do new stuff!
  • [16:00] Rex Cronon: lets be serious how many resolution can sombody actually follow:)
  • [16:00] Vincent Nacon: no seriously... taking over LL has been my long term goal. even made a poster for it
  • [16:00] Vincent Nacon: http://vincent.blueforgefire.net//vincentlinden.jpg
  • [16:00] Vincent Nacon: :P
  • [16:01] Oskar LindenOskar Linden maps Vincent's login directory to /dev/null
  • [16:01] Rex Cronon: r u going to do it 1L$ at a time;)
  • [16:01] Vincent Nacon: no, one prim at a time
  • [16:01] Leonel Iceghost: if you take over it, would you add arrays Vincent? and I have 100 more features to ask
  • [16:01] Homeless: The Residents are slowly taking over SL
  • [16:02] arton Rotaru: time is up
  • [16:02] Oskar Linden: well here's to a happy new year!
  • [16:02] Homeless: cheers!
  • [16:02] Oskar Linden: to good bugs and amazing releases
  • [16:02] Vincent Nacon: arrays? I'd say... don't be lazy, rig yourself your own arrays with List
  • [16:02] Rex Cronon: list arrays soo slow
  • [16:04] Leonel Iceghost: happy new year, I whish you all the best
  • [16:04] Kelly Linden: I'm going to make llList2List ~100x faster and llDeleteSubList about 20x faster and llListInsertList ~10x faster for mono.
  • [16:04] Rex Cronon: happy new year:)
  • [16:04] Kelly Linden: not quite enough to help with arrays but still, better. :p
  • [16:04] Kelly Linden: o/
  • [16:04] Leonel Iceghost: you kidding..
  • [16:04] Leonel Iceghost: you can do that?
  • [16:04] Vincent Nacon: thought that was already tweaked, Kelly
  • [16:05] Kelly Linden: That is for maint after next.
  • [16:05] arton Rotaru: nice
  • [16:05] Oskar Linden: alright have a good week everyone
  • [16:05] Vincent Nacon: ahhh an arrow to the knee, Gypsy.... what did you used to be?
  • [16:05] Motor Loon: tc all
  • [16:05] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: See you, Lindens.
  • [16:05] arton Rotaru: thx u2
  • [16:05] Rex Cronon: u 2 oskar
  • [16:06] Maestro Linden: thanks for coming!
  • [16:06] Theresa Tennyson: Thanks for having us!
  • [16:06] Rex Cronon: tc oskar, maestro, kelly and everybody:)
