[12:00] Simon Linden: Let's see, we can get started ...

[12:00] Lexbot Sinister: Whirly

[12:00] Lexbot Sinister: and lucia

[12:00] Kallista Destiny: Yes

[12:01] Lexbot Sinister: ah lucia is here ;)

[12:01] Kallista Destiny: Ave Simon

[12:01] Simon Linden: Earlier today the main servers were updated with the code that's been in RC for 2 weeks

[12:01] Simon Linden: and tomorrow the release channels will be getting another minor maintenance project

[12:02] Simon Linden: The forum post is here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Deploys-for-the-week-of-2014-09-29/td-p/2833738

[12:02] Simon Linden: There really isn't anything interesting in the new update, just one visible fix for an obscure bug that only happens on skilled gaming regions

[12:03] Simon Linden: On the viewer side, we have a project viewer release you might find interesting

[12:03] Simon Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Project_Benchmark/3.7.17.294710

[12:04] Simon Linden: This removes the "GPU table" code in the viewer that decides what kind of graphics settings to use

[12:04] Tankmaster Finesmith: glad no more gpu table :D

[12:04] Lucia Nightfire: Tank won't have a reason to file jira's anymore, heh

[12:04] Tankmaster Finesmith: other than "this defaults wrong"

[12:04] Simon Linden: It should be better for both high and low end machines ... and we would love for people to try it out and report any problems

[12:05] Simon Linden: please file BUG jiras if you see any issues with it

[12:05] Kennylex Luckless: Are it some server problems just now?

[12:05] Lucia Nightfire: does that only setup gfx setting if the settings file doesn't exist or every time the user logs on?

[12:05] Simon Linden: I don't understand your question, Kenny, but I'm sure there are a few viewer bugs left to fix ;)

[12:05] Tankmaster Finesmith: whirly noted her geforce 750 GTX defaults to ultra-high, and thought that was a bit high for that gpu

[12:06] Kennylex Luckless: Natoma is very slow, so I did wounder if LL do something or if update is done

[12:06] Tankmaster Finesmith: lucia - only if it doesnt exsist, or you press reset from the graphics preferences

[12:06] Lucia Nightfire: great

[12:07] Tankmaster Finesmith: if you change it, that takes prescience

[12:07] Simon Linden: I would try restarting it, Kennylex We updated the main channel servers this morning but the code change shouldn't cause anything like that

[12:07] Lucia Nightfire: isn't Natoma that region that gets crashed and lagged and spammed all the time?

[12:08] Simon Linden: one of many, Lucy :)

[12:08] Lucia Nightfire: well, Kenny lives next door, heh

[12:08] Kennylex Luckless: Yes.

[12:08] Lucia Nightfire: he has a front row seat

[12:08] Simon Linden: the frame rate over the last hour looks normal

[12:08] Kennylex Luckless: But I use Natoma as a livingroom :-)

[12:09] Kitto Flora: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-7314 Any progress in finding the cause of this problem?

[12:09] Simon Linden: No Kitto, I haven't been able to dig into that

[12:09] Kitto Flora: Opportunity lost.

[12:09] Rex Cronon: greetings all. oops. i am late:(

[12:10] Kitto Flora: Since the update this am All the problem borders are OK again

[12:10] Kitto Flora: and of course all the problem sim numbers have changed

[12:10] rcdsQueChatLog: State changed.{click me to get the url}

[12:10] Lucia Nightfire: isn't that a good thing?

[12:11] Kitto Flora: Not if you are interested in fixing problems

[12:11] Lucia Nightfire: so the crossing problem only happens after a sim has been up for days?

[12:11] Kitto Flora: Lucy - that *may* be true

[12:11] Simon Linden: unfortunately I need to focus mostly on problems that can't be fixed with restarts

[12:12] Kitto Flora: I have just a little evidence that it appears and develops slowly

[12:12] Lexbot Sinister: "fixed with restart" is rarely an option on mainland

[12:13] Adamburp Adamczyk: without a grumble, support are gettign better now

[12:13] Adamburp Adamczyk: for gettign mainland regions restarted

[12:13] Rex Cronon: "fixed with crash" is more likely;)

[12:13] Gibson Firehawk: ive never had problems with getting a sim restart on mainland after requesting it in support

[12:13] Kitto Flora: Lex - the grid monkey usually does a mainland restart for me within 24 hours

[12:13] Kitto Flora: Sometimes within 2 hours

[12:13] Lucia Nightfire: Gibson you're lucky

[12:13] Adamburp Adamczyk: depemds if you get a scout or not

[12:13] Lucia Nightfire: theres politics involved with mainland region restart requests

[12:14] Kallista Destiny: Why?

[12:14] Adamburp Adamczyk: i disagree Lucy - it's more who you get in suppot

[12:14] Kitto Flora: ... and everything else, it seems.

[12:14] Lucia Nightfire: thats one part of the big equation

[12:14] Lucia Nightfire: esp if its a Scout

[12:14] Adamburp Adamczyk: but that's a conversation for another venue

[12:14] Simon Linden: all the requests need to be checked ... like if there's really a reason to do it, if it will disturb a bunch of people, things like that. They don't blindly hit "restart" when a request comes in

[12:15] Lexbot Sinister: 24 h is a long time, but you still have to have someone monitor the region, come to the conclusion that it needs a restart, have premium account, and then request the restart. that is many hoops for the regular mainlander. i'm not kidding if i say that there is maybe *one* resident in the span of 25 regions wide at least where we live, that would recognize the necessity for a restart.

[12:15] Tankmaster Finesmith: "restart full grid? ok/yes"

[12:15] Adamburp Adamczyk: funny simon , you remember Joppa?

[12:15] Simon Linden whispers: yes?

[12:15] Simon Linden: yes?

[12:16] Adamburp Adamczyk: aka the bot hater

[12:16] Adamburp Adamczyk: lawl, the good old days

[12:16] Adamburp Adamczyk: Get to the Joppa!

[12:16] Adamburp Adamczyk: fastest guy i ever knew on he restartts

[12:16] Kitto Flora: What I am wondersing right now is if BUG-7314 is actually hardware related.

[12:17] Kitto Flora: As it develops again across the gris, it will be interesting to compare new-problem sim #s with problems from last week.

[12:17] Adamburp Adamczyk: {{{ahem}}} oh whirlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

[12:17] Adamburp Adamczyk: !hug whirly fizzle

[12:18] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Awwwwww

[12:18] Gibson Firehawk: there is the wizard

[12:18] Adamburp Adamczyk: no bugs to hug, so a huggy mosnter hug instead

[12:20] Lucia Nightfire: Simon, do you know why https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SH-2642 was closed years ago?

[12:21] Simon Linden looks

[12:22] Lucia Nightfire: imo, being able to create a faux body that rezzed rigged mesh could conform too would be a kill feature

[12:22] Lucia Nightfire: it would alow for realistic pets

[12:22] Lucia Nightfire: or npc's or monsters, etc

[12:22] Martinrj Fayray: yeah

[12:23] Lucia Nightfire: they could use inventory animation files to animate and rigged mesh

[12:23] Lucia Nightfire: would be 100x better than moving link limbs or cycling alphas on 30,40 plus mesh prims

[12:23] Simon Linden: I agree there's a need for better non-AV animations in SL, but I'm not a good judge of the details on how to do it or how difficult it would be.

[12:24] Simon Linden: I'm not going to get specific about anything, but The New Thing that's been discussed will be a lot better than SL for this

[12:24] Lucia Nightfire: lol, The New Thing, huh

[12:24] Boronk (boronk.hammerer): when it comes...

[12:24] Lexbot Sinister: 1. new bones. We have lagtails. 2. Then animated rigged objects.

[12:25] Simon Linden: right, and I'm not close to that work as I focus on SL

[12:25] Kitto Flora: Well anything that replaces Puppeteer script would be good. That thing's a huge CPU hog.

[12:25] Rex Cronon: inventory animation files 4 mesh? that would be "fun" to use on attachments:)

[12:25] Lexbot Sinister: well, i couldn't care less about The New Thing before i know what the policies are on adult content. if it's a disneyland, no NPCS or custom bones will bring me there.

[12:25] Lucia Nightfire: not sure you understand the feature, Rex

[12:26] Lucia Nightfire: unless you mean attached animated shoulder pets

[12:26] Qie Niangao: Kitto: Yes, Puppeteer is really outdated, but still common. But with The New Thing coming, kinda hard to get up steam to replace it.

[12:27] Rex Cronon: i mean an atached tongues that can take different shapes. like roll in an out of your mout

[12:27] Rex Cronon: mouth*

[12:27] Lexbot Sinister: Rex- that would be better solved with a custom bone

[12:27] Simon Linden: as a feature, I can imagine this would be a nice thing to have but a lot of work ... probably a new asset type or two, and deep modifications to the viewer to run them

[12:28] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, I'm not sure that would fall into this category as what Lex said should be enough

[12:28] Kennylex Luckless: Question: I has see some users have bad links in profiles like "Klick here to see a RL image of me" and when users click there it links to a Inventory folder that do bad tings, is it possible for LL to block those kind of links?

[12:28] Simon Linden: I'm sure there would be some new and interesting griefer usage too

[12:28] Oz Linden: My understanding is that at present the animation system is tied to the avatar skeleton

[12:28] Kitto Flora: New Thing, you make my head spin, you'll make everything goovy, New Thing!

[12:28] Oz Linden: I'm sure this isn't impossible, but I believe it's probably Very Hard

[12:28] Cinder Roxley: kenny, that's already fixed upstream.

[12:28] Lucia Nightfire: I would not let what griefers may or may not do deter beneficial features

[12:29] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): They are blocked kenny. They should be blocked in default official viewer and latest release of Firestorm

[12:29] Kennylex Luckless: kk

[12:29] Lexbot Sinister: There are imo three thigs we need if SL is to continue another 10 years. 1 new avatar mesh. for serious. 2. Custom bones already 3. NPC's, both movement and scripting that they need.

[12:30] Mona Eberhardt: On an unrelated note, how're things with SEC-1376?

[12:30] Eddie Stallion: one thing that would be nice if there was possible to make mesh with the toolbox in build in the viewer

[12:30] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Kenny, try clicking on this and see what happens secondlife:///app/wear_folder/?folder_id=1a6cda66-d7b5-6a83-ed63-31a06a9345ac

[12:30] Cinder Roxley: whirly is a griefer.

[12:30] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): You should get "[12:30] [Second Life: A SLurl was received from an untrusted browser and has been blocked for your security.]"

[12:30] Simon Linden: Retrofitting tech onto SL is a lot of work ... Ebbe has explained that's a big consideration for The New Thing and why we're approaching it as we are

[12:30] Adamburp Adamczyk: secondlife:///app/wear_folder/?folder_id=bedd047e-a3d7-23e6-57bc-1ef367d848e7

[12:30] Adamburp Adamczyk: how about this one?

[12:31] Cinder Roxley: whirly, i clicked it and it said

[12:31] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Its blocked lol

[12:31] Rex Cronon: do these links send u to p0rn sites?

[12:31] Adamburp Adamczyk: turn you int oa bunnmy

[12:31] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): The fix is here https://bitbucket.org/lindenlab/viewer-release/commits/afaf26767704a94b05d210bbda23571c7ce22754

[12:31] Adamburp Adamczyk: bunny8

[12:31] Cinder Roxley: "[12:30] [Second Life: A SLurl was received from an untrusted whirly grief thing and has been blocked and whirly has been spnaked for your security.]"

[12:31] Lexbot Sinister: awww.. is the black bunny bait blocked now??

[12:31] Lucia Nightfire: they make you wear library avatar folders

[12:31] Lucia Nightfire: if you're on an outdated viewer

[12:31] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Yeah they broke deh bunny lol

[12:31] Lexbot Sinister: and i just made it under my RL tab... how dissapoint.

[12:31] Oz Linden: Mona ... we've got a viewer change to address that coming out in the next few days

[12:32] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): If you want to run the command, right click the SLURL -> Run

[12:32] Lexbot Sinister: that explains why nobody turned into a bunny yesterday :((

[12:32] Kennylex Luckless: IK-links for objects? I think if objects can have bones/links you can control with a animation then there is no need for a new secleton.

[12:32] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): lol Lex

[12:32] Mona Eberhardt: Oh great. Because I know this exploit has been used again, Oz.

[12:32] Lexbot Sinister: i even went to neva naughty <.<

[12:33] Cinder Roxley: i never got my bounty for SEC-1460 :O

[12:34] Lucia Nightfire: I never got my bounty for any of my sim crash SEC's

[12:35] Rex Cronon: its good that the library doesn't have any XXX avatar folders:)

[12:35] Lucia Nightfire: that would generate customers if they were any good, heh

[12:35] Oz Linden: Those bounties are not something we can deal with

[12:35] Simon Linden: lol Rex - yes indeed

[12:35] Jenna Felton: (i got to go, have a good evening please and a good week, too)

[12:35] Rex Cronon: tc jenna

[12:35] Nalates Urriah: bye

[12:35] Lexbot Sinister: hmm.... why did mah link still turn Duckie to a bunny then? if it's disabled?

[12:36] Yuzuru Jewell: See you, Jenna.

[12:36] Oz Linden: Lucy ... any feedback about your region being in the CDN trial?

[12:36] Gibson Firehawk: maybe his viewer doesnt have the fix yet?

[12:36] Lucia Nightfire: maybe he's on a self compile on older code

[12:36] Duckie Dickins: bunneh

[12:36] Lucia Nightfire: yeah Oz, I'm not seeing a huge improvement, maybe 1.5x at best, heh

[12:36] Lucia Nightfire: net timing and simulator timing seem less though

[12:36] Lexbot Sinister: i think both me and him are on the same version

[12:37] Duckie Dickins: Firestorm 4.6.7 (42398) Aug 12 2014 02:06:18 (Firestorm-Releasex64) with OpenSimulator support

[12:37] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): It shouldn't have worked o.O

[12:37] Gibson Firehawk: way behind LL :P

[12:37] Nalates Urriah: I think map tiles are faster...

[12:37] CmdrCupcake (sovereign.engineer): way-way behind LL

[12:37] CmdrCupcake (sovereign.engineer): <.<

[12:37] Lexbot Sinister: whirly's links don't turn me though

[12:37] Lucia Nightfire: I notice if I dl all textures and mesh fully, then use an alt on a different comp to do the same theres not a huge difference in wait time

[12:37] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Unless he right cliked it -> Run

[12:37] Lucia Nightfire: like a saids, its liek 1.5x at best

[12:37] Lucia Nightfire: 1.5x quicker

[12:38] Lexbot Sinister: Feel free to click my RL link ;)

[12:38] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): OOOh!

[12:38] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Ugh ohs

[12:38] Lexbot Sinister cackles

[12:38] Lucia Nightfire: I assume the server I'm rx from is located in Dallas

[12:38] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Can someone on V3 click her link?

[12:39] Lucia Nightfire: Whirls got bunneh'd

[12:39] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Oh wait... its only gonna work on legacy profiles I think

[12:39] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Gah

[12:39] Qie Niangao: on my V3 beta it seems not even clickable... just stuff is square brackets?

[12:39] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Yeah

[12:39] Cinder Roxley: not on alchemy ones. ;)

[12:39] Gibson Firehawk: blocked when i click

[12:39] Lexbot Sinister: yes, web profiles do nothing. But the link you showed here in chat was blocked for me still though.

[12:39] Kennylex Luckless: It is a link, I do not click it :-)

[12:39] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Yeah

[12:39] Adamburp Adamczyk: YEEHAW!!!!

[12:40] Adamburp Adamczyk: latest firestoem, and im a bunneh

[12:40] Adamburp Adamczyk: *CENSORED*

[12:40] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Hahaah I need to JIRA that :D

[12:40] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Thnaks Lex

[12:40] Lexbot Sinister: Nuuuu...

[12:40] Adamburp Adamczyk: YEEHAW!!!!

[12:40] Adamburp Adamczyk: wd lex

[12:40] Lucia Nightfire: so whats teh problem? url's in legacy profiles?

[12:40] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Yeah, it will still run the command

[12:41] Lucia Nightfire: I have a habit of pasting a url before anything

[12:41] Lexbot Sinister: it's not aimed at normal, decent people. it's for those that actually ask for naughty rl photos. So it all works out nicely.

[12:42] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): lol

[12:42] Lexbot Sinister: I mean, if there was a cookiemonster av with hands in the cookiejar, i'd use that instead.

[12:42] Lucia Nightfire: Family Guy didi ti

[12:42] Lucia Nightfire: *did it

[12:43] Lucia Nightfire: also, Simon, how far up the priority chain is SEC-1352?

[12:43] Lucia Nightfire: every single day a bunch of peopel bomb the RC testing regions, Vortex or WT

[12:44] Lucia Nightfire: only been goign on now for over a year

[12:44] Lucia Nightfire: isn't it time someone fixed it? heh

[12:45] Lucia Nightfire: for those that don't know, by bomb I mean stack asset requests to where nothing will rez or attach

[12:45] Lucia Nightfire: for hours

[12:45] Lucia Nightfire: doesn't even take scripts to achieve the result even though there are several ways of doing it

[12:46] Simon Linden: yeah, that thing is pretty ugly

[12:46] Lucia Nightfire: if you know what you are doing you can breaka region w/i a second and move on to the next

[12:47] Lucia Nightfire: which is what one particular unbannable griefer does every damn day

[12:47] Qie Niangao: unbannable?

[12:47] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, he won't be IP banned or hardware banned at least

[12:47] Lucia Nightfire: he's already stated that

[12:47] Cinder Roxley: she means whirly.

[12:48] Lucia Nightfire: no, Whirls is nice, lay off, heh

[12:48] Adamburp Adamczyk: on a side note, Happy birthday Whirly

[12:48] Duckie Dickins: I think LL should jump on board with optional two factor authentication. I'm sure there's still people who make quite a bit of L$ and 2FA would be a nice added touch.... google authenticator or something along that line.

[12:48] Rex Cronon: is your birthday in rl whirly?

[12:49] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Nooo lol

[12:49] Adamburp Adamczyk: yes it is, she told me in im

[12:49] Oz Linden: It's been discussed, Duckie

[12:49] Adamburp Adamczyk: soo, Happy Birthday Whirly

[12:50] Gibson Firehawk: yesh...happy birthday Whirly

[12:50] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Its not my B'day, but thank you :D

[12:50] Simon Linden: Happy Tuesday, then

[12:51] Gibson Firehawk: happy bonk someone on the head for spreading b.s. day

[12:51] Kallista Destiny: A veru merry unbirthday to you.

[12:52] Bear Hunt Start: Bear Quest Start touched by Eddie Stallion

[12:52] Duckie Dickins: So for Whirly's actual birthday I bet we can get baker to jump out of a cake. :)

[12:52] Gibson Firehawk: thats nightmare material, Duckie

[12:52] Lucia Nightfire: as long as he's not on a wrecking ball

[12:52] Rex Cronon: in his birthday suit?

[12:52] Duckie Dickins: it would be a twerking baker.

[12:52] Lexbot Sinister: it's been nice to meet you all again, now i got some stolen apples to cook. See you again next week!

[12:52] Kallista Destiny: TMI

[12:53] Kennylex Luckless: No birds in the cake

[12:53] Simon Linden: we'll keep things appropriate for our "G" region, lol

[12:53] Rex Cronon: i mean he is a chicken ave. u will seem him without feathers on:)

[12:53] Rex Cronon: tc lex

[12:53] Simon Linden: I really don't want to see a plucked Baker

[12:53] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): I have photograhic evidence of Baker twerking!

[12:53] Mona Eberhardt: Without feathers? What next? Are we going to see Baker roasted?

[12:53] Gibson Firehawk: his ankle cuff is some lols

[12:55] Kennylex Luckless: Take care and have fun, I need to go now.

[12:55] Rex Cronon: tc kennylex

[12:55] Kennylex Luckless: By by Siwo

[12:56] Simon Linden: Since it's gotten very quiet ... any last questions or chat before we wrap up?

[12:56] Lucia Nightfire: what big projects are you guys currently working on

[12:56] Adamburp Adamczyk: yeah, is it baker's birthday today?

[12:56] Lucia Nightfire: other than The New Thing

[12:56] Mona Eberhardt: Yes. Is Baker related to El Pollo Diablo?

[12:56] Simon Linden: My big project is "Keep SL Going" :)

[12:57] Nalates Urriah: Worthy project

[12:57] Lucia Nightfire: is there anyhting that isn't sensitive you can spill thats coming down the pipe?

[12:57] Gibson Firehawk: is the number of CDN regions going to expand any time soon?

[12:57] Kallista Destiny: it's all SEKRET

[12:57] Duckie Dickins: ^^ what Gibon said

[12:57] Lucia Nightfire: it expanded yesterday

[12:57] Nalates Urriah: How many now?

[12:58] Lucia Nightfire: btw is ther a url of what regions are using CDN?

[12:58] Eddie Stallion: cdn

[12:58] Simon Linden: It should, yes ... I'm not sure what numbers are needed before that goes into a full RC release

[12:58] Oz Linden: no, we don't have a public list at the moment

[12:59] Lucia Nightfire: would be nice to see a report of traffic figures by geographic location as well, lol

[12:59] Oz Linden: We're taking that change slowly ... we have not made a decision yet about how soon it will go to one of the full RC channels

[12:59] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Has anyone reported any problems on a CDN region yet?

[12:59] Oz Linden: yes, it would, but if we had it I don't think we'd share it :-)

[12:59] Oz Linden: I have not heard any reports of problems

[12:59] Lucia Nightfire: figures

[12:59] Kallista Destiny: Does one need a special viewer to use CDN?

[12:59] Oz Linden: no

[13:00] Oz Linden: you're using it now

[13:00] Kallista Destiny: Woot

[13:00] Gibson Firehawk: the CDN regions also seem to be working good with the pipelining viewer...ive been using that code lately

[13:00] Gibson Firehawk: awesome fast

[13:00] Cinder Roxley: insilico is getting cdn today, isn't it?

[13:00] Oz Linden: yes, the two changes are very complimentary

[13:00] Lucia Nightfire: I should trial that too I guess

[13:00] Cinder Roxley: skills said something like that.

[13:00] Adamburp Adamczyk: cdn?

[13:00] Adamburp Adamczyk: wassat?

[13:01] Kallista Destiny: Distributed Content like textures

[13:01] Lucia Nightfire: textures and mesh atm

[13:01] Adamburp Adamczyk: ahhhh, ty

[13:01] Kallista Destiny: Form a place on the coud near you

[13:01] Oz Linden: Yes, Insilico is in the trial now

[13:01] Lucia Nightfire: will be glad to see sounds too

[13:01] Cinder Roxley: that will be a good test one. :) lots of people, lots of textures.

[13:01] Oz Linden: Sounds will require a viewer change

[13:01] CmdrCupcake (sovereign.engineer): How exactly do you get regions in the cdn trial? :o

[13:01] Duckie Dickins: Field trip to Insilico!

[13:01] Rex Cronon: search wikipedia for cdn...

[13:01] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Tank was having problems with CDN. He was going to email you Oz

[13:01] Gibson Firehawk: bare rose...would love to test that on CDN

[13:01] MISSING STRING (whirly.fizzle): Dunno if he did

[13:01] Kallista Destiny: for a variable and ever changing value of near.

[13:02] Cinder Roxley: e-mail maestro

[13:02] Oz Linden: email cdn-test@lindenlab.com
