The Girl Friend Experience (GFE) refers to an escort service that minics the actual relationship that a man has with a girl friend rather than with a paid prostitute. In general, the girl will give her client the illusion that she is in love with him. She seeks to make the sexual act on her part appear to be in response to her warm feelings for the man himself rather than to his payment of Linden dollars.

Although the term is common to the professional escort industry in real life, it wasn't until User: Janice Mabellon and User: Mashie Burns established their GFE Freelance Escort Club [1] in 2009 that the term became a regular search engine keyword.

Since no actual sexual contact occurs, GFE (as well as all other forms of escorting) is legal in Second Life within the United States.
