[2013/04/25 15:00] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): Ave Maestro
[2013/04/25 15:01] MartinRJ Fayray: Hello Maestro!
[2013/04/25 15:01] Lucia Nightfire: this is teh selection thing?
[2013/04/25 15:01] Maestro Linden: Hi guys
[2013/04/25 15:01] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Maestro.
[2013/04/25 15:01] Kennylex Luckless: Hello self.
[2013/04/25 15:01] Whirly Fizzle: Heya Marestro
[2013/04/25 15:01] Rex Cronon: hi maestro
[2013/04/25 15:01] Rex Cronon: hello everybody
[2013/04/25 15:01] Lucia Nightfire: oh nvm, read teh behaviour, lol
[2013/04/25 15:01] MartinRJ Fayray: No Lucia
[2013/04/25 15:02] Duckie Dickins: glad to see you survived vacation. :)
[2013/04/25 15:02] Lucia Nightfire: the script code sort of took focus over the desc, lol
[2013/04/25 15:02] Object: Hello, Avatar!
[2013/04/25 15:03] Maestro Linden: let's get started https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group#Agenda
[2013/04/25 15:04] Maestro Linden: We updated the main channel on tuesday, and also got 2 new projects in RC
[2013/04/25 15:04] Lucia Nightfire: ty, Whirls, I'll have a looks after the meeting
[2013/04/25 15:04] Maestro Linden: The main channel got the server maintenance project that had been on the RC channels last week
[2013/04/25 15:05] Maestro Linden: that release has the new LSL goodies like the new AO system
[2013/04/25 15:05] Maestro Linden: and some other popular changes like 'Slight region performance improvement when there are no pathfinding characters present'
[2013/04/25 15:06] Kennylex Luckless: Hello Baker and welcome
[2013/04/25 15:06] Baker Linden: Hello
[2013/04/25 15:06] Rex Cronon: hello baker
[2013/04/25 15:06] Script & Memory Use Scale Counter: Total Scripts: 0
 Total Memory: 0k
[2013/04/25 15:06] Script & Memory Use Scale Counter: Congratulations! Script weight under 3 mb.
[2013/04/25 15:06] Maestro Linden: nice weight baker
[2013/04/25 15:06] Whirly Fizzle: Heya baker
[2013/04/25 15:06] Baker Linden: lol, thanks.
[2013/04/25 15:07] YuNi Workout Bench2 (1.1): whispers: Add all 3 weights to your outfit. They will only be visible for the suiting workouts
[2013/04/25 15:07] Baker Linden: Heya Whirly
[2013/04/25 15:07] Maestro Linden: BlueSteel and LeTigre got a new 'experience tools' project
[2013/04/25 15:07] Lucia Nightfire: top secrets
[2013/04/25 15:07] Maestro Linden: yeah
[2013/04/25 15:07] Maestro Linden: the team doesn't want to announce the features yet, so I can't give many details there
[2013/04/25 15:08] Maestro Linden: some other parts need to be released for the new features to be usuable
[2013/04/25 15:08] Lucia Nightfire: I'll be happy if its a fix for SCR-382
[2013/04/25 15:08] Maestro Linden: so ideally, nothing visible should change there
[2013/04/25 15:09] Maestro Linden: Finally, Magnum got a new server maintenance project,
[2013/04/25 15:09] Maestro Linden: which has some crash fixes and also some LSL goodies for HTTP communications
[2013/04/25 15:09] Maestro Linden: mostly adding support for new content types
[2013/04/25 15:10] Rex Cronon: what http goodies?
[2013/04/25 15:10] Maestro Linden: listed here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_Magnum/13#13.04.19.274352
[2013/04/25 15:11] Lucia Nightfire: you can make fancy internal help or instruction pages for your products
[2013/04/25 15:11] Maestro Linden: also, there's a change to make the server smarter about how it throttles certain messaging types,
[2013/04/25 15:12] Lucia Nightfire: can you elaborate the formula? heh
[2013/04/25 15:12] Maestro Linden: to prevent certain types of 'DoS' attacks, where a 'bad' object could prevent your avatar from getting llDialog notifications from other objects
[2013/04/25 15:12] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): Ahhh
[2013/04/25 15:12] Tarzikaf (miguael.liamano): I had mixed experience with the latest code on the Release channel... My router dropped a few times when trying to load an account with a big inventory.
[2013/04/25 15:13] Maestro Linden: All objects owned by UserA share the same throttle for sending llDialog() messages to UserB
[2013/04/25 15:13] Maestro Linden: but objects owned by anybody else would have a separate throttle pool
[2013/04/25 15:13] Lucia Nightfire: dual throtlle, by sender and target
[2013/04/25 15:14] Maestro Linden: yes
[2013/04/25 15:14] Lucia Nightfire: I see the angle
[2013/04/25 15:14] Rex Cronon: what if i want to spam myself with lldialogs?
[2013/04/25 15:15] Lucia Nightfire: you can't
[2013/04/25 15:15] Lucia Nightfire: theres another thottle for that too
[2013/04/25 15:15] Lucia Nightfire: liek 3 a sec or something
[2013/04/25 15:15] Jenna Felton: i once ago tried to crash myself with dialogs- had no luck with it
[2013/04/25 15:15] Maestro Linden: historically I think that was possible, Jenna
[2013/04/25 15:15] Maestro Linden: or at least you could make the viewer really slow
[2013/04/25 15:16] Lucia Nightfire: bottom line, I'm just glad some idiots dialog sapm isn't killing everyone else's dialog usage
[2013/04/25 15:16] Jenna Felton: yes. because of that i tried.
[2013/04/25 15:16] Tarzikaf (miguael.liamano): My experience says it's related to the CPU power. I can survive a dialog spam-based crash, but other people I know can'T
[2013/04/25 15:17] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): /me quickly puts on her sunglasses a Kelly blings into sight
[2013/04/25 15:17] Jenna Felton: however, i am glad about the trottle idea
[2013/04/25 15:17] Lucia Nightfire: imo, dialog spam is the weakest spam method
[2013/04/25 15:17] Maestro Linden: we were just talking about the new throttling of llDialog etc. on Magnum, kelly
[2013/04/25 15:17] tehKellz (kelly.linden): okay
[2013/04/25 15:17] Lucia Nightfire: its mainly an annoyance factor than offlining
[2013/04/25 15:18] Maestro Linden: any more questions about that?
[2013/04/25 15:18] Jenna Felton: when a scruptor would get a proper response about if the open dialog is ignored away or not shown because of any reason, i thing very many scriptors would be happy
[2013/04/25 15:19] Jenna Felton: think*
[2013/04/25 15:19] Lucia Nightfire: the crash fixes, are any to fix SEC-1204?
[2013/04/25 15:19] Jenna Felton: and "when a scrupt would get a proper response" even
[2013/04/25 15:19] tehKellz (kelly.linden): Lucia: maybe. Every time I look at a crash in that jira it is a different cause.
[2013/04/25 15:20] Lucia Nightfire: its one of two things in genreal, add someone to a parcel's banlist while their in progress of ejection or sending home
[2013/04/25 15:21] Lucia Nightfire: then theres other issues that I have only guesses on
[2013/04/25 15:21] Rex Cronon: it could be that there are two threads that try to access the same file at the same time:)
[2013/04/25 15:21] tehKellz (kelly.linden): If you have a reliable repro with steps to repro in a controlled case - including concise LSL scripts, please include that in the jira.
[2013/04/25 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: I have tried to repro it 100% of teh time, I am unsuccessful, part of the problem I think is if the agent has never been to the region he's beign sent to before
[2013/04/25 15:22] Jenna Felton: yes Rex, and when the system is made good, the accessed source is exclusive, so both are waiting on each others :)
[2013/04/25 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: as once the region crashes I cannot crash it again with the same agent
[2013/04/25 15:23] tehKellz (kelly.linden): The cause is not consistent in the crashes in that jira.
[2013/04/25 15:23] Lucia Nightfire: oh also, if teh agent is beign sent away for the first time since the region was restarted, sorry
[2013/04/25 15:23] Lucia Nightfire: so its doubled edge guessing,
[2013/04/25 15:23] tehKellz (kelly.linden): The biggest fix for crashes relating to TPing agents is not in this release, but in a pending one.
[2013/04/25 15:23] Lucia Nightfire: but everytime I get a crash its from what mentioned about ban and moderation
[2013/04/25 15:24] Lucia Nightfire: hopefuly it will come soon
[2013/04/25 15:26] Maestro Linden: so somebody asked, "What's the status of the Experience Tools?" in the agenda
[2013/04/25 15:26] Maestro Linden: the answer is that a phase of it is in server RC, but there are some other changes required to actually use it
[2013/04/25 15:27] Jenna Felton: this is in agenda two or three weeks already
[2013/04/25 15:27] Rex Cronon: this might be a little related to a small problem i have with a scripts that starts a another script in same object. first time i rez in sim it says the scripts to be started doesn't exist
[2013/04/25 15:27] Maestro Linden: oh, okay. I was out last week. Let's clear that out.
[2013/04/25 15:27] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, Rex, been meaning to file a jira on that, lol
[2013/04/25 15:27] Whirly Fizzle: Viewer changes that are needed Maestro?
[2013/04/25 15:27] Lucia Nightfire: if you rez the object that has the script taht needs to be started first it won't do that
[2013/04/25 15:28] Maestro Linden: Whirly: For creating/managing experiences, I believe
[2013/04/25 15:28] Rex Cronon: both scripts r in same object
[2013/04/25 15:28] Whirly Fizzle: Will that be dropping into V-dev soon or is it stuck behind materials in the queue?
[2013/04/25 15:28] Maestro Linden: so llSetScriptState(other_script, TRUE) fails on the first time, and it says it can't find the other script?
[2013/04/25 15:28] Lucia Nightfire: I have it happen with a object that gets rezzed and tries to start a script if that object hasn't been rezzed since last restart
[2013/04/25 15:29] Maestro Linden: That I'm not sure of, Whirly
[2013/04/25 15:29] Rex Cronon: yes maestro. only first time u rez it in a sim. the script to be started is off.
[2013/04/25 15:29] Jenna Felton: the script is not 'existent' until it deserializes?
[2013/04/25 15:29] Whirly Fizzle: Im sure thats been JIRA'd. Hmm..looking....
[2013/04/25 15:30] Jenna Felton: perhaps it explains that bug when teleports via new TP function crash scipt in an attachment
[2013/04/25 15:30] Rex Cronon: there r some old jras that haven't made it over to the new jira...
[2013/04/25 15:30] Maestro Linden: This one? https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SCR-98
[2013/04/25 15:30] Whirly Fizzle: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SCR-98 uep lol
[2013/04/25 15:30] Whirly Fizzle: **yep
[2013/04/25 15:31] Maestro Linden: speaking of whirly being too slow in chat,
[2013/04/25 15:31] Maestro Linden: have any of you in europe (or elsewhere) experienced bad chat lag lately?
[2013/04/25 15:31] Margithe: YES
[2013/04/25 15:31] Margithe: OMg yes yes
[2013/04/25 15:31] Jenna Felton: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SCR-382
[2013/04/25 15:31] I didn't, I'm in Germany
[2013/04/25 15:31] Maestro Linden: there was a recent bug report about that, but some have claimed that it's fixed now
[2013/04/25 15:31] Tarzikaf (miguael.liamano): friends in europe experience bad LAG, period.
[2013/04/25 15:32] Margithe: yesterday and the day before was so bad, that local chat didn't respond for 15 seconds
[2013/04/25 15:32] Maestro Linden: but it's okay today?
[2013/04/25 15:32] Whirly Fizzle: No trouble in the UK but I have friends who were having the problem with that above.net. It seems fixed now
[2013/04/25 15:32] Margithe: i did traceroute, trying to find a culprit somewhere, nothing. no packet loss either
[2013/04/25 15:33] Rex Cronon: the sim has indigestion:)
[2013/04/25 15:33] Margithe: I don't really know yet, haven't been out so much, but i haven't noticed any chat lag yet
[2013/04/25 15:33] Maestro Linden: ok
[2013/04/25 15:33] Motor Loon: I'm not really sure of the jira, but thats the status on the super annoying "various stuff not rendering until rightclicked" bug?
[2013/04/25 15:33] Whirly Fizzle: Its still super annoying :P
[2013/04/25 15:34] Motor Loon: indeed lol
[2013/04/25 15:34] Maestro Linden: Motor no, this is more like..
[2013/04/25 15:34] Jenna Felton: perhaps it is vorth to have a button in the viewer to back up a segment of the viewr og or the full log even, in case one want report something
[2013/04/25 15:34] MartinRJ Fayray: Yeah I first complained about it back in September, I think
[2013/04/25 15:34] Maestro Linden: you say something in local chat, and it doesn't appear for 15 seconds
[2013/04/25 15:34] Jenna Felton: *viewer log*
[2013/04/25 15:34] Maestro Linden: even though other in-world actions seem relatively low-latency
[2013/04/25 15:34] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): toggling show alpha also makes everything appear
[2013/04/25 15:34] Margithe: btw, i'm insweden and my connection in general was good.
[2013/04/25 15:34] Sovereign Engineer: I was experieincing an interesting issue with CHUI where as the toast would appear but it wouldnt show up in the actual chat window for a good 10-15 seconds
[2013/04/25 15:34] Sovereign Engineer: :P
[2013/04/25 15:35] Sovereign Engineer: Could that be related?
[2013/04/25 15:35] Rex Cronon: so that is why there r pockets of silince that last 15-30 seconds/
[2013/04/25 15:35] Rex Cronon: ?
[2013/04/25 15:35] Maestro Linden: might be - that was llSay() chat from the toaster?
[2013/04/25 15:35] Margithe: well, i had other types of lag, like inventory taking a moment to open, unsitting from objects being delayed(or not happening at all) etc.
[2013/04/25 15:35] Rex Cronon: silence*
[2013/04/25 15:35] Sovereign Engineer: Just random IM toasts from people :o
[2013/04/25 15:35] Motor Loon: I'm a euro, and I normally dont experience local chat lag... groupchat though... is quite another matter...
[2013/04/25 15:36] Sovereign Engineer: And I'm in america/DC area
[2013/04/25 15:36] Inusaito Kanya: I get local chat lag frequently.
[2013/04/25 15:36] Margithe: I usually don't expirience chat lag unless it's in a sim with 40+ avs
[2013/04/25 15:36] Rex Cronon: and after 15-30 seconds i get like 5-20 chats at once
[2013/04/25 15:36] Inusaito Kanya: And group chat lag as much as everyone else, prolly.
[2013/04/25 15:36] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): I occasionally get local chat lag perhaps once a week, usually in the late afternoon
[2013/04/25 15:36] Maestro Linden: Rex: I haven't experienced that firsthand, so I can't say if that's typical of the issue..
[2013/04/25 15:37] Lucia Nightfire: go to a sim with a minimum of 10 avatars wearing complete head to toe mesh attachments while other mesh equiped av's enter at intervals of less than 7 seconds and you'll get chat lag as well as lag with everything else, lol
[2013/04/25 15:37] Margithe: Also the posts sometimes come in reverse order.
[2013/04/25 15:37] Lucia Nightfire: ie, a busy sandbox or info hub or mall
[2013/04/25 15:38] Rex Cronon: the reverse order thing usually happens with group chat
[2013/04/25 15:38] Margithe: The sim we expirienced chatlag in is not overly occupied, and there were just 2 avatars in it- nothing really that would attribute to lag.
[2013/04/25 15:39] Margithe: My american partner also had chatlag, but not to the same extent.
[2013/04/25 15:39] Lucia Nightfire: did the timings in stats look ok?
[2013/04/25 15:39] Margithe: Everything looked normal.
[2013/04/25 15:40] Lucia Nightfire: hmmm..
[2013/04/25 15:40] Margithe: I'm guessing Maestro knows what was up, since heasked :P
[2013/04/25 15:40] Maestro Linden: well, hopefully the problem is mostly gone
[2013/04/25 15:41] Rex Cronon: i am not sure if i heard right, but it seems that now in the usa communications r checked to see if it contains copyrighted material. maybe i heard wrong
[2013/04/25 15:41] Lucia Nightfire: Maestro , who is working on web bugs these days, can we get BUG-2007 looked at soon? It sucks that I can't get in-world notifcations when I have products sales from marketplace like I did with magic boxes
[2013/04/25 15:41] Maestro Linden: it may have been some router between the simulators and europe that was acting up
[2013/04/25 15:41] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): Rex, seriously small strings of text?
[2013/04/25 15:41] Margithe: well, it did take 19 jumps between me and the servers, but, nothing really stuck out
[2013/04/25 15:42] Rex Cronon: esperially for torent streams
[2013/04/25 15:42] Rex Cronon: especially*
[2013/04/25 15:42] Maestro Linden: I can show that to the marketplace team, Lucia
[2013/04/25 15:42] Motor Loon: "Land of the free" °͜°
[2013/04/25 15:42] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): Sl traffic hardly looks like torrent streams
[2013/04/25 15:42] Lucia Nightfire: ty
[2013/04/25 15:43] Motor Loon: Was good to see LL jumping on the "Oculus Rift wagon" btw, I had just been whining to my ol' lady the day before that I couldn't belive you were not all over it... and voila... then you were ,-)
[2013/04/25 15:43] Tarzikaf (miguael.liamano): Well, I looked ANS up for marketplace in the past and recently, the informations are rare, especially when it comes to how to script our own side of the system. Caspervend, as example, has it working, but... For others who has their own system, it's hard to have a lead on how to do it.
[2013/04/25 15:44] Maestro Linden: I'm looking forward to trying out the Rift, Motor
[2013/04/25 15:44] Motor Loon: me too... very much me too
[2013/04/25 15:45] MartinRJ Fayray: they are, Motor?
[2013/04/25 15:45] Lucia Nightfire: ANS has no direct in-world contacting method
[2013/04/25 15:45] Lucia Nightfire: it can't email your in-world servers
[2013/04/25 15:45] Rex Cronon: what is ANS?
[2013/04/25 15:45] Lucia Nightfire: a static url is all that is offered
[2013/04/25 15:46] Motor Loon: Martin: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2013/04/oculus-rift-coming-to-second-life.html#more
[2013/04/25 15:46] Jenna Felton: perhaps create a scripted server and register it as ANS and than buy something on MP to see what is sent to the server :)
[2013/04/25 15:47] Lucia Nightfire: you can onyl use a static url
[2013/04/25 15:47] Lucia Nightfire: plus a key/salt is required
[2013/04/25 15:47] Jenna Felton: ok, than oyu need an external server or register it every time
[2013/04/25 15:48] Blake Burger: Any estimated dates we could see the ban lists come to groups yet?
[2013/04/25 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: ie, taht will change if your in-wolrd url is lost or closed or the region restarts
[2013/04/25 15:48] Rex Cronon: where can i find more info about this ANS thing?
[2013/04/25 15:48] Jenna Felton: or spam the marketplace team with hanging out the hiformations
[2013/04/25 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: log into mp, Rex
[2013/04/25 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, what about them group banlists, heh
[2013/04/25 15:49] MartinRJ Fayray: Oh nice
[2013/04/25 15:49] Rex Cronon: ok. thanks. i will try.
[2013/04/25 15:49] Jenna Felton: i had also a question about the serverside backing
[2013/04/25 15:49] Lucia Nightfire: projected d-day?
[2013/04/25 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: the day of infinite whining
[2013/04/25 15:50] Sovereign Engineer: OH question for simon about how the object caching work is going?
[2013/04/25 15:50] Sovereign Engineer: :o
[2013/04/25 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: and teh day support all take vacation
[2013/04/25 15:50] Blake Burger: hmm... looks like we dont get an answer Lucia -lol
[2013/04/25 15:50] Sovereign Engineer: And any ideas when we'll start to see viewer/server changes roll out in that regard?
[2013/04/25 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: Baker might be busy working on that code too, heh
[2013/04/25 15:51] Blake Burger: * Hehehe *
[2013/04/25 15:51] Lucia Nightfire: it'll come when it comes like many thigns
[2013/04/25 15:51] Blake Burger: /me throws a paper ball at maestro and baker linden
[2013/04/25 15:51] Margithe: ..please alt-tab back from reading the article.
[2013/04/25 15:51] Maestro Linden: Sovereign, do you mean aggressive viewer caching of objects?
[2013/04/25 15:51] Sovereign Engineer: Yeah.
[2013/04/25 15:52] Latif Khalifa: and "cache hints" to simulator
[2013/04/25 15:52] Maestro Linden: I believe Andrew is working on that now (or at least stuff related to it)
[2013/04/25 15:52] Rex Cronon: interest list:)
[2013/04/25 15:52] MartinRJ Fayray: I'm curious how you edit builds with the oculus rift.
[2013/04/25 15:52] Motor Loon: looking forward to better working cache - and fixes for interestlist bugs °͜°
[2013/04/25 15:53] Inusaito Kanya: I was wondering that too, Martin.
[2013/04/25 15:53] Rex Cronon: i heard that the resolution of this oculus rift is not that great
[2013/04/25 15:53] Motor Loon: I would imagine Rift use would be like a new "mouselook" mode, with limited controls, but I'd seriously be quite happy with that
[2013/04/25 15:54] Rex Cronon: and it has specilized software/libraries that u need to interface your program with
[2013/04/25 15:54] Margithe: maybe they'll introduce gloves eventually.
[2013/04/25 15:54] Baker Linden: I'm still working on group bans, but I decided to fix a couple small bugs first. They both relate to searching people using the choose resident floater
[2013/04/25 15:54] MartinRJ Fayray: Simon uploaded a video to youtube where he used a gesture controller (Leap)
[2013/04/25 15:54] MartinRJ Fayray: With SEcond Life
[2013/04/25 15:54] Motor Loon: yeah that looked pretty nice
[2013/04/25 15:54] Blake Burger: awesome! -not the bugs, but that its still in the works :)
[2013/04/25 15:55] Baker Linden: they're in the system where I'll be adding group ban stuff, and now that I can test the changes, I can get them pushed to an RC.
[2013/04/25 15:55] Motor Loon: though a bit latency issues and I'd imagine after 4 hours you're arms will get somewhat tired °͜°
[2013/04/25 15:55] Margithe: markerplace could use bans too...
[2013/04/25 15:55] Rex Cronon: btw. i don't know how busy u r kelly, but if u have time do take a look at the "correct" llXorBase64StringsCorrect, because it needs correctin:)
[2013/04/25 15:55] Rex Cronon: correcting*

[2013/04/25 15:56] Baker Linden: and blake -- it's going to be a while before Group ban stuff is ready. And yes, that's all you're getting ;P

[2013/04/25 15:58] Rex Cronon: btw. is this the reason some people come to sl? http://www.flickr.com/photos/76967966@N06/8681275358/in/pool-51035802764@N01/
