[8:07] Dessie Linden: ....... Happy Tuesday!
[8:07] Cummere Mayo waits fro things to rez and prays she doesnt freeze up again.....
[8:07] Close Range: ..... Darren Oates [39m]
[8:07] Aargle Zymurgy: .. No Lamorna today... she's off galavanting around the world.
[8:08] Morgaine Dinova: .... Hiya Dessie :-)
[8:08] Dessie Linden: ....... Hi Morgaine!
[8:08] Tanath Seelowe: ........ hi Dessie
[8:08] Dessie Linden: ....... Hey Cummere
[8:08] Aargle Zymurgy checks this week's update to Dessie's av. :-)
[8:08] CG Linden is catching up on email...
[8:08] Dessie Linden: ....... hey Tanath!
[8:08] Aargle Zymurgy: .. did most of LL have yesterday off?
[8:08] Soen Eber: ... Sorry about my av, Mistress thought I needed to focus more
[8:09] Dessie Linden: ....... I took it off... it was one of our available floating holidays
[8:09] Ellla McMahon: ......... hello everyone :))
[8:09] CG Linden: . I don't have much for today unfortunately...
[8:09] Dessie Linden: ....... hey Ellla!
[8:09] CG Linden: . Hi Elllla :)
[8:09] Morgaine Dinova: .... Hi Ellla :-)
[8:09] Aargle Zymurgy: .. hi Ella
[8:10] CG Linden: . I also took yesterday off, so did most everyone else it seemed....
[8:10] Tanath Seelowe sidles up to darren:)
[8:10] Aargle Zymurgy: .. yeah... my short list of linden friends stayed empty
[8:10] Darren Oates: .......... :}
[8:10] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... here in the states it was a national holiday
[8:10] Dessie Linden: ....... that's so sad...
[8:10] Cummere Mayo: ........... only ones i saw on yesterday were all from support
[8:10] Aargle Zymurgy: .. it was then I realized it was a holiday. shows how alert *I* have been.
[8:10] Dessie Linden: ....... lol
[8:10] CG Linden: . usually, we decide on Monday what we'll do this week releasewise, but this week we'll have that meeting and the preparations today...
[8:10] CG Linden: . later today ...
[8:11] Dessie Linden: ....... I think "save the world" is on this week's agenda, isn't it CG? ;o)
[8:11] CG Linden: . so I can only speculate to some extent...
[8:11] Cummere Mayo hopes a new nightly with fixes for the freezing will be on that meetings agenda
[8:11] CG Linden: . that's a permanent item, so yes, we'll do that too :)
[8:11] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... the gridstatus shows the there is a rolling restart that will take a litle longer than normal due to complete server revamps
[8:12] Morgaine Dinova: .... "Save the world" does sound like a useful piece of work ;-)
[8:12] CG Linden: . yes, that was the plan as of last week
[8:12] CG Linden: . it is likely that we'll stick to it
[8:12] Soen Eber: ... Yeah but its Sev 5 so it always gets kicked back ... save the world
[8:12] CG Linden: . this is to upgrade the OS running the simulators
[8:13] Dessie Linden: ....... which will no doubt lead to whirled peas... um, I mean world peace
[8:13] CG Linden: . hehe
[8:13] Aargle Zymurgy: .. :-)
[8:13] CG Linden: . Dessie, what do you know about viewer side?
[8:13] Dessie Linden: ....... sorry... horrible chat lag
[8:13] CG Linden: . We'd like to finalize, but we're still analyzing incoming reports
[8:13] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... one thing i have notice in the public nightly's is that right now sculpty textures take a little longer than normal to load up and show right
[8:14] CG Linden: . One thing I've noticed is my voice icon is yellow all the time... :(
[8:14] Dessie Linden: ....... we're hoping to ship very soon (possibly even this week), but there were a couple of repro-able crashes reported
[8:14] Dessie Linden: ....... we're investigating those issues
[8:15] Cummere Mayo: ........... newest nightly has been freezing up for some users this weekend..... and .... if you have less then 2 gigs of memory forget running two instances on the xp version
[8:15] CG Linden: . well, running two instances was never an officially supported feature
[8:15] Dessie Linden: ....... is there a VWR issue for it?
[8:15] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... what is the lates version of the public?
[8:15] Close Range: ..... Aric Linden [34m]
[8:15] Cummere Mayo: ........... theres ones on both issues dessie others made them before me
[8:16] Dessie Linden: ....... 1.22.9.110071 I think
[8:16] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... ok im on that one now
[8:16] Dessie Linden: ....... kk... thanks cummere
[8:16] CG Linden: . 1.22.9 (110075) I have on mine
[8:16] Dessie Linden: ....... 110075 was the official RC9
[8:16] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... dont have 75 have 71 though
[8:16] Dessie Linden: ....... 110071 was the public nightly released just beforehand
[8:16] CG Linden: . ah :)
[8:17] Cummere Mayo: ........... 71 is the nightly 75 the rc
[8:17] Dessie Linden: ....... yup
[8:17] Cummere Mayo: ........... the rc seems to have the same issues too
[8:17] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... oh i have that installed as well but i tend to run more in the nightly
[8:17] Dessie Linden: ....... anyway... I think we're going to take some time to look into the crash issues and figure out where we go from there
[8:18] CG Linden: . server side, it seems we had a good weekend
[8:18] Aargle Zymurgy: .. any new records?
[8:18] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ just shy of your concurrency high, I think
[8:18] Cummere Mayo: ........... so no rushing this one through then? i'd say taking the time to really clean up the crashes and freezes would be a good thing dessie :)
[8:18] CG Linden: . we didn't break any records this time, but I think total usage was up quite a bit, jusy more spread out
[8:18] CG Linden: . yes, 200 short I think
[8:18] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... i got overloaded the other day with audible gestures and crashed and it sent a crash report
[8:19] Aargle Zymurgy: .. I didn't see any performance problems yesterday. one complaint of product non-delivery, but I think I get that once a week
[8:19] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... where i was hosting this morning we had a payment failure
[8:20] Cummere Mayo: ........... slx delivery failed for many residents sunday :-/
[8:20] CG Linden: . yeah, there is work in the pipeline to get into payments and improve the reliability and scalability
[8:20] CG Linden: . slx was quite busy on Saturday and Sunday
[8:20] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ which linden's office hours talks about that kind of thing, I beleive
[8:21] CG Linden: . Especially Saturday :)
[8:21] Cummere Mayo shrugs and laments the passing of onrez
[8:22] CG Linden: . On a personal note, I will not be holding office hours this Friday
[8:22] Ewan Mureaux: ............. do you mind if I ask a question about releases and versions etc?
[8:22] CG Linden: . Next Tuesday, I'll be reporting in from Brighton, UK :)
[8:22] CG Linden: . sure
[8:22] Ozzy Wozniak: .............. /hiya :)
[8:22] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ fun. not sure I ever visited there
[8:22] CG Linden: . Hi Ozzy
[8:23] CG Linden: . ask away Ewan
[8:23] Ewan Mureaux: ............. I was just wondering if there was a plan to get everyone on the same page regarding which client they are using, its becoming a pain to be held back not using all of our new touch features etc when scripting
[8:23] Aargle Zymurgy: .. you can sleep in before THAT meeting, CG
[8:23] CG Linden: . We are considering phasing out 1.20, but haven't decided on a plan yet
[8:24] Ewan Mureaux: ............. I would really like that :)
[8:24] Morgaine Dinova: .... Next week, everyone bring an umbrella to express sympathy with CG ;-)
[8:24] Dessie Linden: ....... Even when we do, we'
[8:24] Dessie Linden: ....... ll still support (probably) two versions
[8:24] Dessie Linden: ....... 1.21 & 1.22
[8:25] CG Linden: . I think we decided that at minimum, we'll always try to support two cncurrent production versions + the next RC
[8:25] Close Range: ..... armando Emor [35m]
[8:25] CG Linden: . where "always" is a technical term :)
[8:25] Soen Eber: ... so is "try" :P
[8:26] Cummere Mayo: ........... I will miss 1.20 becuase its more stable in certain circumstances, but i rarely use it anymore. asside from the crashing and freezing 1.22 has so much more to offer.
[8:26] CG Linden: . but as you can see in the chart, viewer adoption follows a rathe typical looking curve
[8:26] Arawn Spitteler wonders that he sat backwards
[8:26] Dessie Linden: ....... yippee!!
[8:26] Aargle Zymurgy: .. looks like the DOS/Windows timeline from the 80's and 90's
[8:27] CG Linden: . It's essentially attrition
[8:27] CG Linden: . people actually don't upgrade, it's peopel leaving and new people coming in
[8:27] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ The orange is for any RC right?
[8:28] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... i keep ming up to date
[8:28] Aargle Zymurgy: .. from my viewpoint, I like it. I tend to build a lot of products dependent on UV touch. it's nice not to have to re-explain things to someone with an old version
[8:28] Ewan Mureaux: ............. it's trying to convince people that there are new features that will lessen load on the grid, on their client etc with the sculpty mirroring and the touch features we can cut a lot of work
[8:28] CG Linden: . the chart is a little old, and yes, it's all RCs
[8:28] CG Linden: . Yep, we get that... :)
[8:29] CG Linden: . so... Oh yes, I checked around what the deal was with "oblong sculpties"
[8:30] CG Linden: . another tribute to resident ingenuity :)
[8:30] Cummere Mayo: ........... do share?
[8:30] CG Linden: . I'm not sure they were intended to work, but work they do
[8:30] Aargle Zymurgy: .. apparently only work with recent clients, but I can see how they can be handy
[8:30] CG Linden: . and I believe we'll be trying to ensure that they will continue to do so....
[8:31] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... they can be interesting
[8:31] CG Linden: . I can't guarantee that, but the effort is being made
[8:31] Arawn Spitteler wonders what the Oblingations do
[8:31] Aargle Zymurgy: .. I think i'ts a cool idea
[8:31] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... i recently made a ball joined cube useing an oblong sculpty
[8:32] Aargle Zymurgy: .. you can get more detail out of certain shapes, Arawn
[8:32] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ This is probably the most striking example of what oblongs can do
[8:32] CG Linden: . well, sculpties are essentially based on a grid resembling the latitude and longitude grid
[8:32] CG Linden: . and someone discuvered that we don't check for the number of latitudes
[8:32] Aargle Zymurgy turns to look at Saijanai
[8:32] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ though unfortunately it can take a while to rez
[8:33] CG Linden: . sees grey toilet paper
[8:33] Soen Eber: ... it looks like a paper lantern with a lot of folds
[8:33] Aargle Zymurgy: .. that's funky looking.
[8:33] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ you may need to zoom in and out to set the LOD
[8:33] Ewan Mureaux: ............. oh wow
[8:34] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ Ewan sees it I thinkl
[8:34] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... here is my ball jointed cube
[8:34] Ewan Mureaux: ............. yep lots o cubes
[8:34] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ 1 prim
[8:34] Aargle Zymurgy: .. 1 prim?
[8:34] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ oblong sculpty
[8:34] Aargle Zymurgy: .. that part mystifies me... how do you get separated shapes using ANY sculpty?
[8:34] CG Linden: . ah finally
[8:34] CG Linden: . wow
[8:34] Aargle Zymurgy: .. or holes through?
[8:34] Cummere Mayo: ........... looks like an almost cube of cubes though for me it appears to be missing a couple boxes
[8:35] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ long syclinder pinched off to zero width then expanded into cubes
[8:35] Aargle Zymurgy: .. oh.... got it.
[8:35] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ I want to see how llTouch works with it but don't have a modable version to add scripts to
[8:35] CG Linden: . yeah, as I said, we forgot to bound the number of latitudes you can put into the sculpty texture, and any number will work
[8:35] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ and this thing make sme dizzy
[8:36] Dessie Linden: ....... that's pretty cool...
[8:36] Cummere Mayo: ........... so um how do you change the number of latitudes?
[8:36] Aargle Zymurgy: .. some accidents work well.
[8:36] CG Linden: . you just upload a rectangular sculpty texture
[8:36] Aargle Zymurgy: .. just use a different dimension for the image.
[8:36] Arawn Spitteler doesn't know sculpty lattitudes from the Longine Symphonettes
[8:36] Ewan Mureaux: ............. thats what my mum said Aargle
[8:36] Aargle Zymurgy: .. rather than 64x64, use 32x128
[8:36] Aargle Zymurgy: .. or whatever.
[8:36] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... i only have one problem due to texture upload issue
[8:37] Soen Eber: ... Since we're a bit distracted ... I'm getting a new system with a 9800 GTX card; any thing tricky I should know about? I've read SL doesn't support SLI and I gotta do something in my card setup
[8:37] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ well its a exture where every pixel defines a mesh
[8:37] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ a vertex of the mesh
[8:37] CG Linden: . Soen, sorry, I really don't know about that.... I recommend googling or filing a support ticket
[8:37] CG Linden: . I;'d have to do the same :)
[8:38] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ Wolfpup your thing is taking even longer than the cubes to rez
[8:38] Arawn Spitteler'd simply ask such questions, where the people know more than the lindens, such as here.
[8:38] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... for me it is fully rezed but i guess it is because i have rezed it befor
[8:38] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ there it goes. Neat
[8:39] CG Linden: . I stilldon't see it... but then again...
[8:39] Soen Eber: ... looks like a crystalline molecue
[8:39] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ I could see vehicles like that being popular
[8:39] Aargle Zymurgy: .. is that 1 prim or 2?
[8:39] CG Linden: . ah
[8:39] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... we all know different things thats why we are all better together
[8:39] CG Linden: . nice
[8:39] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ Zha Ewry would have a blast with it. You should send a copy to her
[8:39] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... and i made it inworls with a demo sculpty maker
[8:39] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ she did IBM's vision molecule model
[8:39] Aargle Zymurgy: .. which one, wolfpup?
[8:39] CG Linden: . it does have artifacts
[8:39] Aargle Zymurgy: .. I want to find something better than the one i have
[8:40] Ellla McMahon: ......... Main SLI issue Soen, http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7964 Add SLI and Crossfire support please add your vote :)
[8:40] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... sculptie-omatic
[8:40] CG Linden: . Yay, thanks Ellla
[8:40] CG Linden: . Or in Linden speak:
[8:40] CG Linden: . love ellla Jira awsomeness
[8:40] Jeffbot 2.3: ................ http://osiris.lindenlab.com/love/ellla/Jira%20awsomeness
[8:41] Ellla McMahon: ......... hehehe thank you :))
[8:41] Arawn Spitteler: ................. Bagua?
[8:41] Soen Eber: ... thanks Ellla :-)
[8:41] CG Linden: . Anything else you'd like to know about?
[8:42] Aargle Zymurgy resists asking someting silly
[8:42] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... it has a couple of 'spikes' due to a slight bug in textur uploading
[8:42] CG Linden: . ah, even on lossless upload?
[8:42] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... yes
[8:42] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ PSA: the AWG is having its weekly meeting at 9:30. We're likely talking about the upcoming meeting at the Internet Engineering Task FOrce next month
[8:43] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... how is the change to 64 bit OS going
[8:43] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ IM me for a Groupies invite to get authorized for the meeting
[8:43] Arawn Spitteler thought the 64 bit rollover wa last week
[8:43] CG Linden: . xlr8rrick, I think the server side builds and is working. Viewer side is still being examined
[8:44] CG Linden: . we switched over to a 64 bit OS, but the code is still running 32bit as far as i know
[8:44] CG Linden: . but I will verify that.
[8:44] Ellla McMahon: ......... not sure its your dsepartment CG but I don;t think the new ATI Catalyst 9.1 is 'playing very nicely' with SL .. I started a Meta Issue to see if there's any pattern
[8:45] Arawn Spitteler: ................. I think Andrew's working on that, in the next office, from CG; his ofice hour will be at 11, up in Denby
[8:45] CG Linden: . that's the way to do it.. If you can tell me the jira number, I'll make sure people are seeing it
[8:45] CG Linden: . I know Andrew was working on it, just wasn't sure about the status
[8:46] Ellla McMahon: ......... its multiple issues atm, crashes, lag, low FPS http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-12080
[8:46] CG Linden: . Great, thanks
[8:46] Ellla McMahon: ......... could just be usual stuff but some of the crashes are prelogin .. with existing residents that's quite unusual
[8:46] Soen Eber: ... What is ATI Catalyst 9.1?
[8:47] Ellla McMahon: ......... latest Graphics drivers from ATI
[8:47] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... will that cure the VBO problem with ATI cards
[8:48] CG Linden: . VBO = Vertex Buffer Oveerflow?
[8:48] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... yes
[8:48] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... Vertex Buffer Objects
[8:48] Ellla McMahon: ......... not from the latest comment on http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258
[8:48] Cummere Mayo: ........... maybe we could invite joppa or twilight as well as andrew soemtime cg for an ati/sli q/a session?
[8:48] CG Linden: . that's when you see a bunch of random polygons appear
[8:48] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... yes
[8:49] Saijanai Kuhn: ............ I must run all. See some of you at the groupies meeting later. CG thanks for hosting this
[8:49] Cummere Mayo gives cg a hopeful look
[8:49] CG Linden: . you're welcome...
[8:49] Morgaine Dinova: .... Cya Sai
[8:50] CG Linden: . and I think we'll call it :)
[8:50] CG Linden: . I'll see you all next Tuesday I hope
[8:50] WolfPup Lowenhar: ...... tc cg
[8:50] Aargle Zymurgy: .. bye CG
[8:50] Dessie Linden: ....... See y'all later!
[8:50] Ewan Mureaux: ............. thanks cg
[8:50] Aargle Zymurgy: .. bye Dessie
[8:50] Morgaine Dinova: .... Have a good trip CG :-)
[8:50] Aargle Zymurgy: .. have a safe trip, CG.
[8:50] Ellla McMahon: ......... byee CG & Dessie :)
[8:50] CG Linden: . Thx
[8:50] Morgaine Dinova: .... Cyu Dessie :-)
[8:51] Soen Eber: ... *waves*
[8:51] XLR8RRICK Hudson: ............... Ellla is 9.1 fixind the VBO clitch
