Agenda list

February 28, 2011 Note: Linden is closed on Feb 21

  1. Where will the logs of these meetings go after the Jive forum is read-only?
  2. Can you give us an update on recent progress, what your priorities are right now, and what (if anything) you need us to test and report on right now?
  3. Are we there yet?
  4. Can we sell the skin and Mesh which were made from Avator Obj of CC BY-SA 3.0 in the second life?
  5. Can Linden Lab clarify the breadth of what constitutes re-use of the avatar mesh covered under the CC BY-SA 3.0? Please see forum post requested by Nyx earlier a couple of weeks ago for reference: http://blogs.secondlife.com/message/618204
  6. Is User Group in which Nyx joins only Mesh?
  7. What is the status on the Joint Positions not working? As per the JIRA here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/CTS-472
  8. Will there be a quick "right-click -> Detach" option for rigged mesh as there are for normal attached prims?
  9. Can the color of the skeleton and background in the upload mesh preview window be made configurable? It's difficult to see the black wireframe skeleton against the dark blue background.
  10. The 64m prim size limit is great, but are we going to see an even higher limit(sim-sized meshes/prims)? How does the current limit affect linkability rules?
  11. Maturity ratings in the mesh sandboxes
  12. Are we near/at final streaming and physics cost calculations?
  13. Could we possibly get a hotkey combo for mesh uploads? (and for that matter, is there a specific reason why only textures get this currently?
  14. If residents cannot make more and better expressions, will the Lindens revisit them and provide new ones? Present ones are downright scary.

  • [2011/02/28 11:07] Charlar Linden: OK, let's get startedWhere will the logs of these meetings go after the Jive forum is read-only?

Can you give us an update on recent progress, what your priorities are right now, and what (if anything) you need us to test and report on right now? Are we there yet?

  • [2011/02/28 11:07] Eleanora Newell: not if they bother you, sit with us
  • [2011/02/28 11:07] Charlar Linden: Can we sell the skin and Mesh which were made from Avator Obj of CC BY-SA 3.0 in the second life?

Can Linden Lab clarify the breadth of what constitutes re-use of the avatar mesh covered under the CC BY-SA 3.0? Please see forum post requested by Nyx earlier a couple of weeks ago for reference: http://blogs.secondlife.com/message/618204 Is User Group in which Nyx joins only Mesh? • [2011/02/28 11:08] Charlar Linden: First up: Where will the logs of these meetings go after the Jive forum is read-only?
  • [2011/02/28 11:08] Charlar Linden: Answer: A new forum will be available wednesday, existing will still be available for historical purposes. blogs.secondlife.com will redirect to the new site.
  • [2011/02/28 11:09] Charlar Linden: Effectively the same.
  • [2011/02/28 11:10] Charlar Linden: Moving to the next one...
  • [2011/02/28 11:10] Charlar Linden: Can you give us an update on recent progress, what your priorities are right now, and what (if anything) you need us to test and report on right now?
  • [2011/02/28 11:10] Charlar Linden: Our priorities right now are to merge the mesh code into our trunk. It won't be enabled, except on Aditi, but it'll allow us to find and work through regressions with current functionality.
  • [2011/02/28 11:11] Charlar Linden: prep, Runitai, Nyx, anythign you want them to test?
  • [2011/02/28 11:11] Vivienne Daguerre: that sounds promising and significant
  • [2011/02/28 11:12] Nyx Linden: everything
  • [2011/02/28 11:12] Drongle McMahon: apart from our patience, that is.
  • [2011/02/28 11:12] Rusalka Writer: Has the planned content breakage happened already, or is that still ahead?
  • [2011/02/28 11:12] davep (runitai.linden): anything specific to the mesh viewer that you think would make it a BAD main viewer, now's the time to bring that up
  • [2011/02/28 11:12] davep (runitai.linden): (in jira)
  • [2011/02/28 11:12] davep (runitai.linden): i.e. "regressions"
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Rusalka Writer: Crashing causing all your work to disappear.
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Vivienne Daguerre: I have been using this project mesh viewer on agni, and it works well.. graphics are great, things rez fast, fps is good.. I am liking it
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Could we ever get a hotkey combo for mesh uploads?
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Rusalka Writer: I would not like that on the main grid.
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Aki (aki.shichiroji):
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] F L I P (flip.idlemind): This is my first Mesh meeting..."planned content breakage"?
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Planned content breakage?
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Drongle McMahon: daveo...does that include non-,eash stuff now?
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Rusalka Writer: Something was going to change and anything you'd built a while ago would disappear.
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] Prep Linden: Help with testing new rig configurations would be great.
  • [2011/02/28 11:13] davep (runitai.linden): yes, ANY regression (viewer bug specific to the mesh viewer), we'd want to know about
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Rusalka Writer: One of the render metadata tools would show you what was going to go.
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Rusalka Writer: It was three or four weeks ago.
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Skygirl Kline: would like that blurry point of distance thing optional...although it probably is lol
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Don't Release (donot.release): yopu mean that i still float prep?:)
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Prep: What do you mean by new rigs? Joint positions?
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Prep Linden: Specifically anything with altered joit positions - feedback on failures would also be great.
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): ok gotcha
  • [2011/02/28 11:14] Phate Shepherd: Will test that ;-)
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Prep Linden: Asha/Do'not - if you float open up a new jira and provide me with the rig.
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Charlar Linden: We will be updating the sim to remove invalid assets - not so much 'planned content breakage' as removing broken content that we didn't know was broken.
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Ok will do
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Prep Linden: thanks
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Rusalka Writer: Groovy.
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Don't Release (donot.release): you can use my old jira and i mail you something.)
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Charlar Linden: It'll be in the next few weeks - we'll give you a heads up a week before (at least)
  • [2011/02/28 11:15] Vincent Nacon: I don't think the current beta viewer are assigned for Aditi, had to use Phoenix to get here
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Delicious Cake (ivanova.shostakovich): I have sometimes seen my attempts to rez a test mesh I have made not show up properly. Are the mesh sims sometimes not working properly?
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Nebadon Izumi: I just installed todays daily build and got right in
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] davep (runitai.linden): ctrl+shift+g will let you switch grids from the login screen
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Nebadon Izumi: woah
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Nebadon Izumi: did everything just disappear?
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Hey Rex
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Hi Rex
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] JR4201 Kruyschek: i am with the latest beta mesh viewer and i can`t see any seats
  • [2011/02/28 11:17] Don't Release (donot.release): yeah i also installed new and got in here, only graphics setting were adapted, to low on a hd69xx car,d great
  • [2011/02/28 11:18] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Not for me Neb
  • [2011/02/28 11:18] Nebadon Izumi: wierd everything just disppeared for me, then came back
  • [2011/02/28 11:18] davep (runitai.linden): HD69xx is new enough it's not in the GPU table yet
  • [2011/02/28 11:18] Don't Release (donot.release): oh it sin
  • [2011/02/28 11:18] Don't Release (donot.release): first it was dirdtectd as 6800 now as 6900
  • [2011/02/28 11:18] davep (runitai.linden): ah, crazy bug then
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] davep (runitai.linden): yay!
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] Don't Release (donot.release): np, but surprising:)
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] JR4201 Kruyschek: relogging for test
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] SMILE (sigma.avro): Is creative commons the new liscencing schem of SL ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] Charlar Linden: next agenda item: Are we There yet?
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] Charlar Linden: answer: No, although we certainly are somewhere. Remember, wherever you go, there you are.
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] Nebadon Izumi: hhehe
  • [2011/02/28 11:19] Vivienne Daguerre: grins... had to ask
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Skygirl Kline: giggles
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Nyx Linden: don't make me turn this viewer around!
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): lol
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Charlar Linden: ok, moving on...
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Nuuuuuu!
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Vivienne Daguerre: /me smiles...
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Vivienne Daguerre: give me a pony and I'll be good
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Charlar Linden: next one: Can we sell the skin and Mesh which were made from Avator Obj of CC BY-SA 3.0 in the second life?
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Rusalka Writer: Ponies...
  • [2011/02/28 11:20] Charlar Linden: Legal is looking into this, and I'm sorry they couldn't be here today. The referenced thread was very good, thanks for putting so much thought into this issue.
  • [2011/02/28 11:21] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Do you know when we might know for sure?
  • [2011/02/28 11:21] u«ùpuƒ±◊ü …π…ê ûso (oskar.linden): pony
  • [2011/02/28 11:21] Charlar Linden: I'm talking to them about this week. I don't know yet when I'll have an answer
  • [2011/02/28 11:21] Nebadon Izumi: I would think as long as it doesnt specifically state Non-Commercial then you can
  • [2011/02/28 11:21] Charlar Linden: I know it's important that we get this locked down.
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Aki (aki.shichiroji): There's an attached question to that point (which I added) because it's really not clear what constitutes reuse and 'building upon'
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Aki (aki.shichiroji): or whether the new policy will be retroactive
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Aki (aki.shichiroji): so clarification would be much appreciated
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Charlar Linden: yep, and that's got the same answer as the top one.
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Vincent Nacon: which gives another reason why SL need Avatar 2.0 to reduce data traffic over Mesh, btw
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Is it a new policy or was that always the license?
  • [2011/02/28 11:22] Aki (aki.shichiroji): it was new as of last user group meeting, if i recall correctly.
  • [2011/02/28 11:23] Nyx Linden: you guys asked for a specific license, and we updated the download. now we're trying to get clarity on the specific questions around the license
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] JR4201 Kruyschek: back, now i can see the things around
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I am waiting for good answer..
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] SMILE (sigma.avro): I suppose mesh upload cost is linked to lisecnce type ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): So, there was no license originally?
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Smile: no, we're discussing how the av mesh is licensed to us for use.
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] Mesh Release: wherre can we find the log from last week ?seewe in one OH a lawer, and he answer ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] Nyx Linden: the license was not provided in the same download as the rest of the files.
  • [2011/02/28 11:24] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): The license on the avatar Rex
  • [2011/02/28 11:25] Aki (aki.shichiroji): the Av mesh was given a CC BY-SA 3.0 license
  • [2011/02/28 11:25] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Ah so the license is the same but actually located where people can see it now
  • [2011/02/28 11:25] Nebadon Izumi: that license doesnt not restrict commercial use
  • [2011/02/28 11:25] Nebadon Izumi: so technically you can sell them without legal worries
  • [2011/02/28 11:25] SMILE (sigma.avro): different liscnecing concepts in sl may cause some troubles
  • [2011/02/28 11:25] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Nebadon, that's true, however it requires that you release your items under a similar or same license
  • [2011/02/28 11:26] Nebadon Izumi: there is a specifric CC license for non-commercial use
  • [2011/02/28 11:26] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): It's the share alike part people are concerned with Neb
  • [2011/02/28 11:26] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Please check SA of CC 3.0 Nebadon..
  • [2011/02/28 11:26] Nebadon Izumi: I think you only need to keep attribution
  • [2011/02/28 11:26] Charlar Linden: It's probably better to wait until I hear back from legal with some guidance.
  • [2011/02/28 11:26] Nebadon Izumi: oh absolutely
  • [2011/02/28 11:27] Nebadon Izumi: email Creative Commons
  • [2011/02/28 11:27] Nebadon Izumi: they will clarify it for you
  • [2011/02/28 11:27] SMILE (sigma.avro): Becomes interesting nif avat mesh is imporved
  • [2011/02/28 11:27] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
  • [2011/02/28 11:27] Aki (aki.shichiroji): They wouldn't have added the share alike part to 3.0 if it weren't to be included. We also don't know whether 'building upon' the mesh includes textures based off of its UV layout
  • [2011/02/28 11:28] Nebadon Izumi: even if it turns out its ok to sell it, its always good to give attribution i think
  • [2011/02/28 11:29] Aki (aki.shichiroji): /me does not disagree.
  • [2011/02/28 11:29] Rusalka Writer: Does the license cover the avi skin alone or the armature as well?
  • [2011/02/28 11:29] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): The whole avatar I think
  • [2011/02/28 11:29] Nyx Linden: it covers the files included in the zip on the wiki
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] Rusalka Writer: I can make a new armature but it will have to have the same names and be essentially identical, right?
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): I think selling on SL is OK, but selling on other metaverse is NG.
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] SMILE (sigma.avro): Is flex mesh conceivable ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): The license asctually doesn't address that.
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): *actually
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] Nebadon Izumi: I dont really think you can limit its usage with the standard CC license
  • [2011/02/28 11:30] Rusalka Writer: Back to the lack of plan for preventing mesh drift between grids, etc., and Intellectual Property Rights.
  • [2011/02/28 11:31] Mesh Release: retirn to agenda ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:31] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): That probably falls under your own license for your product.
  • [2011/02/28 11:32] Charlar Linden: next item?
  • [2011/02/28 11:32] Rusalka Writer: Which folks ignore all the time.
  • [2011/02/28 11:32] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Sure Charlar
  • [2011/02/28 11:32] Charlar Linden: next agenda item: Is User Group in which Nyx joins only Mesh?
  • [2011/02/28 11:32] Nyx Linden: sorry - having trouble parsing this one - could someone restate?
  • [2011/02/28 11:32] Vincent Nacon: either the sim or the group
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): O.o
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Vincent Nacon: but make no sense either
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Aki (aki.shichiroji): i think they may be asking whether 'Mesh Group' is the correct group to be in to be in touch with you, Nyx?
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Drongle McMahon: My guess .... are you still having your office hours under another name?
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): where is the Nyx's office hour?
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Nyx Linden: we've wrapped up office hours, just have usergroups now
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Vincent Nacon: I'd say... next question!
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Mesh Release: ihope its mesh only and not a User Right riles groupe
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] SMILE (sigma.avro): lol Rex
  • [2011/02/28 11:33] Charlar Linden: topic focused, not person focused
  • [2011/02/28 11:34] Drongle McMahon: So is there a small robot user group?
  • [2011/02/28 11:34] Nyx Linden: for all your tiny robot discussion needs?
  • [2011/02/28 11:34] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Rex: True, but it's the mesh we've been using for quite a while. even if a second av mesh comes around a license still needs to be in place for whatever is used... and i highly doubt older content will be abandoned.
  • [2011/02/28 11:34] Rusalka Writer: What are these toes you speak of?
  • [2011/02/28 11:35] Charlar Linden: Alrighty, moving on...
  • [2011/02/28 11:35] Vincent Nacon: like I said... next!
  • [2011/02/28 11:35] Charlar Linden: Next item: What is the status on the Joint Positions not working? As per the JIRA here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/CTS-472
  • [2011/02/28 11:35] JR4201 Kruyschek: if a new AV comes around please try get rid of triangles and make it all just quads
  • [2011/02/28 11:35] Prep Linden: status of joint positions: Joint positions should import correctly. The joint positions in cts-472 weren't importing correctly because it was missing some required joints.
  • [2011/02/28 11:36] Prep Linden: So what happened there was that the joints ended up being placed at the local origin (which is what the snapshot indicated).
  • [2011/02/28 11:36] Phate Shepherd: Yep... I commented that you needed 20, and I think Prep listed the ones needed.
  • [2011/02/28 11:36] Prep Linden: Hopefully sooner rather than later I'll be adding some better user-feedback. That should make it more transparent about any failures.
  • [2011/02/28 11:36] Prep Linden: phata: yup.
  • [2011/02/28 11:36] Vincent Nacon: like from 3Ds Max?
  • [2011/02/28 11:36] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Nah, you'll have several standards floating about.
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] Vincent Nacon: I mean other than Blender
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] SMILE (sigma.avro): hopfully meshes will not only be used to import acats !
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Where is the list of 20 bones posted?
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] SMILE (sigma.avro): *avats
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] Reed (reed.steamroller): wha
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] Prep Linden: posted in cts-472.
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Ok thanks
  • [2011/02/28 11:37] Prep Linden: np
  • [2011/02/28 11:38] Rex Cronon: why r the lindens so quiet?
  • [2011/02/28 11:38] Vincent Nacon: they're not?
  • [2011/02/28 11:38] Vivienne Daguerre: they are probably consulting each other in the office on how to best answer us...
  • [2011/02/28 11:38] Rusalka Writer: How about ARC?
  • [2011/02/28 11:38] Nyx Linden: I could switch to my avatar with sound effects if you prefer
  • [2011/02/28 11:38] Vincent Nacon: or looking forward to lunch
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Nyx Linden: Rusaika - thanks for the reminder, could you add that to the agenda
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Charlar Linden: lunch...
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Reed (reed.steamroller): they're probabbly eating unch

  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Rex Cronon: i thought u guys crashed:)
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Charlar Linden: next item: Will there be a quick "right-click -> Detach" option for rigged mesh as there are for normal attached prims?
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] u«ùpuƒ±◊ü …π…ê ûso (oskar.linden): my rl birthday lunch :-D
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Prep Linden: we never stop eating ;-)
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Reed (reed.steamroller): happy birthday
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] JR4201 Kruyschek: maybe they are in IM conference to discuss how many L$ should they asks us to lend them, 5L$, 10L$? (joke)
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Vivienne Daguerre: Happy Birthday!
  • [2011/02/28 11:39] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Happy Birthday

  • [2011/02/28 11:40] u«ùpuƒ±◊ü …π…ê ûso (oskar.linden):  :-D thanks. I mean unbirthday. The gregorains have stolen 3 of every 4 birthdays, this year included
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] davep (runitai.linden): yes, picking for rigged attachments is broken right now, but we'll get to work on it after the merge
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] JR4201 Kruyschek: happy birthday to who? sorry
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] Rusalka Writer: So you're eight?
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] Rex Cronon: u r a fish oskar:)
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] u«ùpuƒ±◊ü …π…ê ûso (oskar.linden): 8.75 tomorrow
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] Phate Shepherd: And aht would fix edit for attached meshes too?
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] Rusalka Writer: And it's the orbit of the Earth that done you wrong.
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] u«ùpuƒ±◊ü …π…ê ûso (oskar.linden): yup
  • [2011/02/28 11:40] Vincent Nacon: Phate, the edit for rigged mesh is a tricky deal
  • [2011/02/28 11:41] davep (runitai.linden): yes, it works "sometimes" now, it usually works better if you disable hardware skinning
  • [2011/02/28 11:41] Mesh Release: agenda ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:41] Rusalka Writer: ARC?
  • [2011/02/28 11:41] Charlar Linden: next one: Can the color of the skeleton and background in the upload mesh preview window be made configurable? It's difficult to see the black wireframe skeleton against the dark blue background.
  • [2011/02/28 11:41] Nyx Linden: Rusaika - please add it to the end of the agenda
  • [2011/02/28 11:41] Phate Shepherd: Yeh.... It is a bit of an art to "grab" yourself for editing ;-)
  • [2011/02/28 11:42] Vincent Nacon: Advanced > Setting Debug
  • [2011/02/28 11:42] Rusalka Writer: I was saving that spot for ponies.
  • [2011/02/28 11:42] davep (runitai.linden): the background is changing to some sort of grey -- I'll run it by leyla to make sure there's good contrast between the background and the skeleton render
  • [2011/02/28 11:42] Nyx Linden: you can add multiple topics
  • [2011/02/28 11:42] Charlar Linden: next: The 64m prim size limit is great, but are we going to see an even higher limit(sim-sized meshes/prims)? How does the current limit affect linkability rules?
  • [2011/02/28 11:43] Nyx Linden: 64m is our current goal for increasing prim size. We don't currently have plans for larger prims, but it is possible we'll reevaluate in the future
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Drongle McMahon: So, is that a definate 64m at release?
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Maygray Heron: 64 meters are great already, though sometimes splitting my terrains is very tricky hehe
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Nyx Linden: I do believe the linkability rules are unaffected for now. If that creates unreasonable constraints, let us know
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Phate Shepherd: Will there be similar lag issues with larger meshes that have been seen with Megaprims?
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Nyx Linden: Drongle - that's our current goal. no promises
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Vincent Nacon: what will I do without my 1024x1024x100 mega prim? :/
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Maygray Heron: not that i saw any unreasonable constraints yet
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Nyx Linden: Vincent - make more efficient prims?
  • [2011/02/28 11:44] Maygray Heron: just problems rezzing coalesced meshes bigger than a certain size
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] JR4201 Kruyschek: yes, some scripts do not work when too close to megaprims
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] Vincent Nacon: not for landscape outside of the sim's area
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] SMILE (sigma.avro): I have a * * . if you want Vincent
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] Drongle McMahon: Willlarger meshes still behave like megaprins?
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] Drongle McMahon: Or will they be shrunk on upload?
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] Mesh Release: change you the sim range 256x256 to meshprim ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] Rex Cronon: r the existing prims over 64m going to be nerfed?
  • [2011/02/28 11:45] Vincent Nacon: I even have my 2,000x2,000 mega prim for mountains and grand canyon sitting outside of a single island sim
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] Mesh Release: so we can load in a 256x256 mesh for a sim ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] u«ùpuƒ±◊ü …π…ê ûso (oskar.linden): Vincent we will have a megaprims for guns turnin program where you can turn in evil megaprims and are given a safe gun. then we toss the megaprims into /dev/null and recycle their bits
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] SMILE (sigma.avro): (I have a 64500 *64500)
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] Nyx Linden: 64m is the limit on upload or resize. we're not changing existing prims.
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] Vincent Nacon: over 2,000m is a overkill since that's the distance to the skybox/skydome
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] JR4201 Kruyschek: if megaprims are going to be forbidden many goodies that were sold will dispear
  • [2011/02/28 11:46] SMILE (sigma.avro): no usage of it
  • [2011/02/28 11:47] Maygray Heron: hm a sim sized meshes would have been great, but you can do a lot with the 64 m ones already
  • [2011/02/28 11:47] Charlar Linden: time to move on?
  • [2011/02/28 11:47] Charlar Linden: next item: Maturity ratings in the mesh sandboxes
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] SMILE (sigma.avro): Well, since it is nearly end , someone asked about Rendreing cost of meshes. How is it accounted for ? Polygons number ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Vincent Nacon: I think maybe prim should be allowed to go over 64m but only flagged as phantom?
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): was SIM Crashed?
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Nebadon Izumi: viewer crashed on me, was getting all blinky, then crashed when i moved
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Vivienne Daguerre: no Yuzuru
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Drongle McMahon: But now we can upload bigger ones >64m, just can't stretch them. Will that stay the same?
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Nyx Linden: we want a wider range of maturity settings in the sandboxes
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Nebadon Izumi: you crash to Yuzuru?
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Vincent Nacon: for mesh?
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Charlar Linden: SMILE: not quite there yet. One item at a time.
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): Good question Drongle
  • [2011/02/28 11:48] Rusalka Writer: I crashed.
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nebadon Izumi: ya wierd bunch of us crashed all at same time it seems
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Angel (angel.alphaville): crashed too
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nyx Linden: so we'll be changing some sims from mature to G
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): My viewer crashed two times in this meeting.
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Rex Cronon: what viewer were u guys using?
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nebadon Izumi: everything got all blinky
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Drongle McMahon:  :-) that's why I asked it twice, Asha.
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nebadon Izumi: then boom
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] JR4201 Kruyschek: that means no adult stuff for mesh tests, ahahah!
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): lol
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nyx Linden: so be warned if you have mature content out there you may want to keep an eye out on where its rezzed
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Vincent Nacon: Phoenix here
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nyx Linden: there will be some adult sandboxes as well
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Angel (angel.alphaville): 222037, newest
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] Nyx Linden: we want a better mix
  • [2011/02/28 11:49] JR4201 Kruyschek: lol
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Drongle McMahon: Are the Lindens all dead?
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Asha (ashasekayi.ra): I'm wondering.
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Nyx Linden: I'm not dead yet
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Charlar Linden: don't think so
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Œ•œÄŒ±œÑŒØŒ± ŒöŒ±ŒªŒªŒπœÉœÑœé (hypatia.callisto): yet
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Prep Linden: not quite yet.
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Nyx Linden: I feel happy......I feel happy.....
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Ardy (ardy.lay): Didn't crash: Second Life 2.7.0 (222169) Feb 28 2011 10:30:29 (Project Viewer - Mesh)
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Rex Cronon: i think they r eating cake;)
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Phate Shepherd: They short out when we go too far off topic
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Rusalka Writer: I'm on an older one. 218486
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Charlar Linden: ok, next item: Are we near/at final streaming and physics cost calculations?
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] JR4201 Kruyschek: they aren`t dead but they are loosing focus on some essential things
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Vincent Nacon: I think it's just Oskar that crashed
  • [2011/02/28 11:50] Drongle McMahon: Deciding where Lunch is?
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Nebadon Izumi: woah, everythign just disappeared again for me
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Vincent Nacon: you're having viewer stroke
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Nebadon Izumi: hehe
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Nyx Linden: streaming and physics cost calulations are not finalized yet :/
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Aki (aki.shichiroji): Mesh HQ 4 just redmapped
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Angel (angel.alphaville): hey I turn off "hardware skinning" and stuff appear that were invisible
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Nyx Linden: Render cost is getting closer though
  • [2011/02/28 11:51] Vivienne Daguerre: so it did
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] SMILE (sigma.avro): It would be nice that these meshes come into Agni. At least in a preliminar form.
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Nyx Linden: I'll post on the forums asking people to test the new render cost algorithm when it merges in
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Rusalka Writer: Not redmapped here...
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Vincent Nacon: too soon

  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Charlar Linden:  : Could we possibly get a hotkey combo for mesh uploads? (and for that matter, is there a specific reason why only textures get this currently?
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] JR4201 Kruyschek: what is the enw CEO position about mesh import? he nearly says nothing, does he really has a plan?
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Rusalka Writer: Well, I blame Gadaffi.
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Vincent Nacon: because there are other things to worry about
  • [2011/02/28 11:52] Mesh Release: ok mesh comes to sl9b ? or for eater eggs 2010 in main grid ?

  • [2011/02/28 11:53] Vincent Nacon: I remember 4 years ago :/
  • [2011/02/28 11:53] JR4201 Kruyschek: then we stopped growing when we reached 77000 users online
  • [2011/02/28 11:54] JR4201 Kruyschek: about 2 years ago, i think
  • [2011/02/28 11:54] Vincent Nacon: err... close to 5 now

  • [2011/02/28 11:56] Charlar Linden: another agenda just got added
  • [2011/02/28 11:56] Vincent Nacon: it would only result overkilling their network system as it happened before too many times
  • [2011/02/28 11:56] Charlar Linden: If residents cannot make more and better expressions, will the Lindens revisit them and provide new ones? Present ones are downright scary.
  • [2011/02/28 11:56] Phate Shepherd: Maybe they changing and burping the asset server.
  • [2011/02/28 11:57] Mesh Release: where is the log from last week ?
  • [2011/02/28 11:57] Charlar Linden: this doesn't seem like a mesh topic, at least it's pretty far afield
  • [2011/02/28 11:57] Vivienne Daguerre: There was no meeting last week.
  • [2011/02/28 11:57] Drongle McMahon: There was no meeting last week

  • [2011/02/28 11:57] Ardy (ardy.lay): Nyx, SH-959 fix is doing weird stuff to flexible prims. Makes them HUGE when they re-enter view.
  • [2011/02/28 11:57] Vincent Nacon: don't think anyone was keeping track of the logs
