Open Grid Public Beta/Map Locations

From Second Life Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

OpenSim regions cannot be placed directly adjacent to existing regions on aditi or vaak.

Zha Ewry: "Setup as a very basic stand alone opensim. set the default location and the location of your region to be the same value, and run only one region on the server. (ie. in OpenSim.ini, make sure you set default_loc_x and default_loc_y, and make them match the ones in the default.xml in the Regions subdirectory of you r bin directory in your install."

All units are in reference OpenSim's coordinate system.

We have found that there is difficultly in teleporting to OpenSim regions at coordinates greater than 4096. See SVC-2941. Please select new map x/y coordinates for your regions.

If you set regions adjacent to one another, you will see some odd effects, depending on if you had visited the adjacent region. If you haven't visited the adjacent region, it will not appear in your map or camera view. And you will be unable to cross over to it by walking or flying.

To avoid the effect, select an offset of at least one unit from other sims. On the other hand, it's an interesting effect.

Non-Linden Lab OpenSims should use default_loc_x and default_loc_y values greater than 2304 (Note Change).

Map claims should be unique. Otherwise teleport failures will occur if you try to jump between regions at the same X/Y coordinates.

Main region (start location) is 🌐 Beta Technologies, located at:

  • 3650/3650

There are several other regions, but not all are open to the public (they are ongoing projects for clients). You can see a full list of all current regions at our prototype grid management web server.

Uptime ought to be close to 100%, except for upgrades and the odd reconfiguration. Some sims or parcels might be closed as this is being used for some internal testing.

The mini-grid supports both OGP and Hypergrid v3.

Currently running OpenSim 0.9.2.2 Yeti Dev.
