Talk:Improving Region Performance

The section "Remove Top Scripts" says: "In the Statistics Bar, the Script Time line shows how many milliseconds each of the scripts in your region is taking to run. If this value is over 5 milliseconds, then it may be worth checking to see if it can be reduced."

I believe that this is inaccurate and misleading. We have been told several times by Lindens on the old forums that "script time" shows how much CPU time is allocated to processing scripts, and is NOT a function of script load. Rather, a minimum amount of script time is reserved and then physics et. al. are run. If, after this, there is time remaining, it is given to script processing.

So, if script time is over the minimum, that shows that the server is NOT lagging due to server CPU usage; it has spare CPU time to allocate to scripts.
