Simon Kline: Hey! torley i saved u a seat
Lyndsey Forager: cool av torrley
Torley Linden: good to see you all!
Torley Linden: Aww I am blushing! I'm just me, really.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: we tried to beat the rush and made one
Torley Linden: Thanks for saving me a seat too. :) Hehe.
Angsty Rossini: G'DAY MATE !!
Torley Linden: GDAY!
Lyndsey Forager: g'day m8
Chase Marellan: Simon jumped in the watermelon just for you
Simon Kline smirks at the aussies sitting in the watermelon couch
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: Aussies in the watermelon couch? :D Hehe.
Tinsel Silvera: hello paolo
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ahh haa, wow, is it always this booked?
Paolo Bade: Hello
Torley Linden: That sounds like a striking coupling!
Lyndsey Forager: hey torley - do you like my shiney hair?
Torley Linden: Amon26: Usually yes!
Laetizia Coronet: lol
Simon Kline: hehehehe
Tinsel Silvera: it is shiney
Torley Linden: Everything is still rezzing, ooh glad to hear you tried that Lyndsey... sec...
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Oh yes, looks great! How was it done?
DJ Jenns: she looks like something from Terminator 4
Torley Linden zooms camera in...
DJ Jenns: hehe
Angsty Rossini: 'scuse my legs hitting you Shinee :)
Torley Linden: Welcome to my office hour everyone, and thanks for coming...
Lyndsey Forager: i just clicked edit mand made it med shiney
Amon26 Yellowjacket: thanks for having us ^,^
DJ Jenns: T-1337
Torley Linden: Oh Lyndsey that works great with the pink streaks!
Torley Linden: Awwwe.
Lyndsey Forager: omg - i am not here to kill ya
Lyndsey Forager: do you recognise the texture torly
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Laetizia Coronet: yeah if you want to make Torley hapy - add pink :)
DJ Jenns: and neon green
DJ Jenns: hehe
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hrm, torley is there any way SL could implement a "turn into liquid chrome" command for lindsey?
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Torley Linden: Haha I see stuff that's green and stuff that's pink but difficult to find both...
Tinsel Silvera: lol
Lyndsey Forager: omg omg
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe
Torley Linden: Hahaha that'd be like the T-1000...
Torley Linden: Yeah, that's what it reminds me of... ;)
Torley Linden: That polymimetic metal alloy!
Daedalus Young: llSetChrome()
Lyndsey Forager: im a good girl - honnest
Simon Kline: lol dae
Amon26 Yellowjacket: chrome hair and shiney shoes do not a villianess make
DJ Jenns: Torley - is it true due to global climate change that watermelons will be extinct by 2014?
Laetizia Coronet: lol
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Really?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: *raises eyebrow*
Lyndsey Forager: lmao
Tinsel Silvera: don't say that {:o)
Torley Linden: Haha... well I do know... to give a heads-up... that the new Glow build setting (to make objects glow, heh)... will be scriptable, so stuff can pulse and glow on and off.
Chase Marellan: Yeah, you'd also have to implement llSetEvil(true);
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i hear something about how bananas are all imbred..
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: I think watermelons like warm weather
Daedalus Young: I would think they'd grow in Siberia then
Torley Linden: DJ: I hope that's not true! Where did you hear that?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oooh that sounds like fun, glows that is.
Torley Linden: I heard about the banana thing too awhile ago...
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: probably we will be growing them in Finaldn
Laetizia Coronet: can't the UN implement llSetClimate?
Lyndsey Forager: he is such a kidder
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Finland
DJ Jenns: Torley: my head...
Torley Linden: I imagine you could have a pretty badass energon sword with the pulsing glow...
Chase Marellan: Very cool.
DJ Jenns: :D
Daedalus Young: yeah, the UN needs a JIRA too
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Laetizia Coronet: the world needs one, yes
Lyndsey Forager: thats a good one daed
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i can actually making some pretty ominous looking stuff if i could throw glow on it ^,^
Torley Linden: Transformers and melee weapons are kind of an odd match but I like it.
Laetizia Coronet: llErasePresident
Chase Marellan: That would be a cool website, actually.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oh lordy, and you know lightsabers will come back bigtime
Torley Linden: Oooh Amon26, yeah, that's totally what it's for... sci-fi effects, including OMINOUS...
Chase Marellan: Just thinking that.
Torley Linden: OMG, yes, lightsabers, totally -- good thought.
Laetizia Coronet: neon signs
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oh ive been meaning to ask, do you still talk with Lex Neva much?
Torley Linden: Yeah...
Lyndsey Forager: guess what torley - DJ nad myself have been experimenting with renderglow - very pretty - http://www.flickr.com/photos/9828337@N05/828945171/
Torley Linden: Amon26 -- time to time on the Issue Tracker we discuss stuff in comments.
Torley Linden: Sometimes he emails me about specific issues. :)
Torley Linden: Oooh Lyndsey, lemme see...
Laetizia Coronet hears Neva and feels her hairs stand up in her neck
Daedalus Young: I noticed RenderGlow in the Starry Night video
Amon26 Yellowjacket: aah good, i cut my teeth in SL at suffugium
DJ Jenns: yes Renderglow with mouse move sun - is just incredible - it passes the time until WindLight
Torley Linden: Yes, Robbie Dingo made a good precursor...
Torley Linden: of course RenderGlow will be per-texture eventually...
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: when is Windlight coming to SL?
Lyndsey Forager: really - that will be so amazing
Laetizia Coronet: oh my graphics card is already running red hot...
Daedalus Young: and Oyster Bay's blog has a new masthead, here's what Morris wrote:
Amon26 Yellowjacket: eek ok im back, with a sore hand.. i stepped away to smash a spider >.<
Daedalus Young: For a little extra pizazz, I indulged my inner Torley and flipped the RenderGlow on to light the piece up.
Torley Linden: So combine that with WindLight... and to answer that, we hope to get the next First Look: WindLight out in a month or so, maybe more, maybe less -- depends on some other things like availability of Voice in the main viewer.
Torley Linden: We will generally want to get First Look: Voice done first...
Tinsel Silvera: cool
Torley Linden: although we can be flexible with that, if need be.
Torley Linden: Lyndsey that's a great shot of Tableau, is that the disco sushi bar?
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: will it demand a better graphics card, I wonder
Angsty Rossini: Is there really such a demand for Voice??
Lyndsey Forager: i am using voice all the time now - cant imagine the grid without it
DJ Jenns: How is that going - seems to be a big success from most eyes
Lyndsey Forager: yes! it is!
Chase Marellan: Any word on Browser-on-a-prim -- or at least web-loaded textures?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: will voice chats have a fall off effect depending on distance from the speaker?
Lyndsey Forager: well spotted torley
Torley Linden: Wilhelmina: WindLight requires graphics cards with a certain level of vertex shader support -- in short, if your system meets our System Recommendations, it shoudl work.
Shinee Jewell: lol it's not that hard
DJ Jenns: Amon26 - i think they do have a fall off effect - they definatly have a positional effect
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: ok, thanks
Torley Linden: And about "browser-on-a-prim", I think Callum's (our Mozilla guru) been working on "parcel-based HTML" this quarter but I don't have more details about that.
Laetizia Coronet: sys recs keep changing, aren't they?
Torley Linden: We really haven't changed our System Recommendations in a long time...
Lyndsey Forager: i think i cant see chat anymore
Torley Linden: When I last looked (yesterday) it was the same as last year I believe.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: im imagining it would be fun to make a car engine noise in the mic while running/flying by someone... "vrrrreeEEEEoorrmmnnn!"
Laetizia Coronet: oh ok... at least my system isn't up to the task anymore I fear
DJ Jenns: I just upgraded my processor yesterday and the SL experience is just so much better
Chase Marellan: Gotcha, so it's media based, then, I assume.
Torley Linden: Hahah Amon26 I had a funny idea about cyber-buskering, playing mobile guitar and walking around...
Torley Linden: but even weird ambience would be fun.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehehe
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Vivienne Graves, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oh and are you planning to attend the convention?
Laetizia Coronet: yes I had ideas about that too, real buskering instead of just an anim
Torley Linden: Also remember that Intel has a big quad-core price drop on Jul 22... not that it will benefit SL particularly (since SL isn't fully multi-core optimized) but it helps when running SL and other apps at the same time... tech keeps getting cheaper.
Torley Linden: Oh, SLCC? Sorry no I won't be there, but I hope everyone who goes has a lovely time.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: nice, intel's been making some good things lately
Laetizia Coronet: but I have a laptop
Torley Linden: Laetizia: What are the specs on your laptop?
Laetizia Coronet: and it runs on AMD anyway
Laetizia Coronet: pfffff beats me Torley
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ive been up in the air about going. its nearby me but chicago is soo big
Shinee Jewell: check your help | about
Shinee Jewell: it tells you
Shinee Jewell: lol
Laetizia Coronet: ok
Torley Linden: There are so many variations of what you can have in a system...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i could easily get lost or abducted by ninjas
Laetizia Coronet: no tekkie here
Torley Linden: my current computer is a dual-core Opteron 170.
Daedalus Young: yeah, that's a good feature in SL, that it tells you your specs
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oo
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i'm running a pimped out e-machine
Torley Linden: Yeah, I highly recommend About menu > Help... I have a page explaining it too.
DJ Jenns: oooh nice Torley - Im on the Core2Duo E6300 :D
Shinee Jewell smiles
Torley Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Debug_Help
Torley Linden: :)
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Vivienne Graves, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Shinee Jewell: I went to that website once
Torley Linden: I found dual-core to be a necessity when multitasking... e.g., running Photoshop and Second Life at the same time.
Torley Linden: Oh kewl.
Shinee Jewell: lol
Torley Linden: Amon26 that's a pretty big tie!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: btw i saw how you can enable glows using the debug menu from your blog a while ago torley, super fun stuff for screenshot art
Laetizia Coronet: well I am on an AMD Turion 64 Mobile w/ ATI Radeon Express 200 graph card
DJ Jenns: well i just installed it yesterday so im still reinstalling applications left right and centre heh
Torley Linden: Chase, out of curiosity, what/who do you coordinate tutorials for?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: wee its a double-tie and a lap-tie
Laetizia Coronet: but the rest... no idea :P
Torley Linden: Amon26: Yah totally. :)
Tinsel Silvera: wb lyndsey
DJ Jenns: Laetizia - thats a very good mobile processor you have there :-)
DJ Jenns: wb lyndsey
Amon26 Yellowjacket: old matrasian military surplus stuff
Lyndsey Forager: hiya
Laetizia Coronet: yes DJ it is
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: Matrasian? I'm not familiar with that word.
Chase Marellan: I coordinate tutorials for InterSection Unlimited; we're a spinoff of Backstop Media, which was a content company doing totorials and such, like the SL/Sametime tutorial in may.
DJ Jenns: over here in the UK they are starting to give laptops away now lol - utter crazyness
Amon26 Yellowjacket: me (my av) came from a planet called Matroz, most of my products are either culturally themed around it, or old military relics
Tinsel Silvera: how do i get one dj?
Laetizia Coronet: DJ but not HP Pavilion I hope, I'd feel like a right fool to have bought one lol
Amon26 Yellowjacket: thus, matrasian ^-^
Chase Marellan: We've got a video university you gave permission for your videos to be run at -- in fact, I'm hereby inviting you to stop by and see them, as you asked :) -- and we want to do more SL related content now that we're set up.
Torley Linden: Oh neat... I like created inworld narrative and culture.
Chase Marellan: So anybody who wants to see their content run at the university, ask me. :)
DJ Jenns: oh goodness no - these things are quite low spec but not too bad - you goto pc world and sign upto orange broadband for 24 months lol
Torley Linden: Chase: Ahhh! OK, LOL, that totally makes sense then.
DJ Jenns: so theres the good old catch
Torley Linden: :)
Laetizia Coronet: well in-world, and in this avatar, I am from Philly so yall bettah step back :P
Tinsel Silvera: ah
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ^,,^ im actually just a tiny piece of this huge fiction universe my friend and i have cobbled together. a space epic of sorts thats like a hybrid between tank girl and hitch-hiker's guide.
Torley Linden: Thanks Chase.
Torley Linden: Amon26: Sounds like a lot of fashion and style is involved!
Lyndsey Forager: he he
Tinsel Silvera: good combo amon
Torley Linden: Rest in peace Douglas Adams.
Tinsel Silvera: yes
Laetizia Coronet: Douglas Adams?
Chase Marellan: Amon: very cool.
Lyndsey Forager: torley - does you avatar have a name? its so cute?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: its sexy and combative, makes totally no sense but our plot shards we've thrown together are hilarious
Torley Linden: Douglas Adams, author of Hitchhiker's Guide.
Torley Linden: Lyndsey: Yes, currently I am "Tollie the Collie". :)
Laetizia Coronet: ah!
Lyndsey Forager: douglas adams = writing god
Tinsel Silvera: he influenced my childhood
Laetizia Coronet: not my genre
Torley Linden: With mecha-wings by Chase Unknown.
Chase Marellan: agreed
Torley Linden: Sometimes I carry around a cat...
Torley Linden: And pet the cat!
Lyndsey Forager: so cute
Tinsel Silvera: hey wolfie
Tinsel Silvera: lol
Torley Linden: Sometimes I wear a ridiculously big HAT while petting the CAT!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: haha took the pic JUST before you put the giant hat on
Lyndsey Forager: my first dog was a border collie - loved him
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: hehe, funny
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Grazel Cosmo, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Wolfie Rankin: hello, sorry, rezzing in
Torley Linden: I like collie smiles... awwwe!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hio wolfie ^,^
Wolfie Rankin: hope I don't step on anyone
Lyndsey Forager: lol, torley - you have many job "hats" too - thats very funny
Wolfie Rankin: hello
Amon26 Yellowjacket: my fingers are durable, no worries to stand on them ^,^
Tinsel Silvera: toley - any more pages from dune?
Torley Linden: Hahaha Lyndsey maybe some of it is symbolic...
Torley Linden: Hmm I'd actually like to be a Guild Navigator avatar...
Torley Linden: I got a Guild Navigator build awhile ago but it didn't work too well as an avatar.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hm? did i miss something?
DJ Jenns: thats the last time i go afk
DJ Jenns: look at the hat !
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Laetizia Coronet: I found myself looking for a tiny avi the other day - just out of curiosity
Amon26 Yellowjacket: dune, then gild navigator
DJ Jenns: lolol
Torley Linden: Not that I know of Amon26 aside from lots of topic-transitioning.
Torley Linden: Guild Navigators are from Dunes...
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Torley, I saw some pics you took where there are giant sandwormns (like from dune). Where are they from (in SL)?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe youll have to bare with me a bit, im not used to being involved in such big chats
Evangeline Wind: hi everyone :-)
Torley Linden: they, at least in the movies, are these big aquatic-looking things that are high on melange all the time and speak in warbly voices.
Evangeline Wind: wow watermelons
Daedalus Young: hi
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hi evangeline ^_^
Laetizia Coronet: Wilhelmina there's one right outside the office too
Simon Kline: tiny's are fun but i find when i sit on stuff i don't sit right as a tiny
Torley Linden: Wilhelmina: AHHH THOSE! They originate from Lemon Yellow, thanks to Waghorne Truss for building them.
Torley Linden: Hi hi all who just arrived!
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Yes, I know that one close by.
Evangeline Wind: :-)
Wolfie Rankin: Hello :)
Vermus Dryke: hi
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Lemon Yellow? Thanks! I will look for it.
Torley Linden: Lemon Yellow is a Dune roleplay region... of course I was curious about it... it looks great with WindLight too.
Laetizia Coronet: Wilhelmina you can click on them, select 'inspect' the find out who made it (and trace back to the shop)
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Yes it does.
Torley Linden: Some pictures I've taken of Lemon Yellow -- http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=70285332%40N00&q=lemon%20yellow&m=text
Amon26 Yellowjacket: grr, photoshop cramped up on me and now its dead
Evangeline Wind: wow this is pretty
Wolfie Rankin: oh there you are simon and angsty
Torley Linden: Thanks Evangeline.
Evangeline Wind: yvw :-)
Angsty Rossini: Waves to Wlfie & Eva & Vermus
Torley Linden: Sometimes on my computer, it's like "battle of the RAM hogs"... because I have Firefox, Photoshop, and SL all running at once.
Paolo Bade gave you torley_001 copy.
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: I saw the colection of pics you put on your blog, the new ones. Very beautiful!
Torley Linden: Thanks for the photo Paolo. *looks*
Evangeline Wind: hi ang, hi sime :-)
Torley Linden: Oh thanks a lot Wilhelmina!
Tinsel Silvera: yes they are beautiful
Simon Kline: hi eva, wolfie :D
Torley Linden: I had a lot of fun taking them while debugging and stuff...
Laetizia Coronet: I can barely do that Tor, and only with SL in background
DJ Jenns: heheh Torley, it's the good old lottery of which app dies first...
Torley Linden: Wow Paolo that was pretty fast.
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Torley Linden: Haha DJ I usually look in Windows Task Manager...
Tinsel Silvera: i like the hate
Torley Linden: for bloats and excessive memory usage...
Tinsel Silvera: hat
Torley Linden: Thanks!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: im working on kind of a fun project. i printed a screenshot from SL onto paper, then used tracing paper to go over the print, thrown the traced image back into photshop and now im digitally shading/coloring the line art
Torley Linden: This hat was originally made by Blue Linden... so I refashioned the colors from monochrome and made it jumbo.
Daedalus Young: nice
Lyndsey Forager: lol, its usuallt the cat in the hat not the dog in the hat
Torley Linden: Amon26: Oooh that sounds pretty elaborate, I'd like to see that!
DJ Jenns: yeah same here Torley *points at SL*
Wolfie Rankin: a certain friend who shall remain nameless, gave me a watch which rezzes mental cows, for my rezday :)
Laetizia Coronet: Blue makes some nice stuff
DJ Jenns: half my ram on that alone hehe
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i have a snapshot of it if youd like to see
Torley Linden: Haha Lyndsey, I wonder if Dr. Seuss would roll over in his grave.
Tinsel Silvera: yes blue does
Torley Linden: Mental cows?! Like, mad cow disease?
Lyndsey Forager: he he
Amon26 Yellowjacket: its pretty rough at the moment, but here tis.
Paolo Bade: I tried for some days to invite you to the exhibit about Helmut Newton photos done in SL :-) So I decided to try to convince you live :-)
Torley Linden: Blue is really great with Photoshop...
Evangeline Wind: lol
Simon Kline: ll
Chase Marellan: hehehehe....
Wolfie Rankin: big bulging eyes and skinny legs
Lyndsey Forager: do many people have rezz day parties on sl ?
Torley Linden: Paolo: Oh! Thanks!
Amon26 Yellowjacket gave you digianalogital_preview.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: tadah ^,^
Tinsel Silvera: they talk about rez days in the blogs all the time
Torley Linden: AFAIK yes there are many rezday parties and other kinds of parties...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: not even really coloured yet tho
Wolfie Rankin: two of us had our rez day together
Torley Linden: I like how the term "rezday" has a special meaning to Second Life.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: rezday parties?
Laetizia Coronet: I haven't had my first rezday yet
Evangeline Wind: i do too torley
Amon26 Yellowjacket: what is rezday?
Daedalus Young: me neither
Lyndsey Forager: its nearly dj jenns rezz day
Tinsel Silvera: i am half way to my first one
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: what is a rezday party?
DJ Jenns: Torley have you visited the Greenies sim, i'm always the last to know about cools sims like that heh
Laetizia Coronet: Amon, it is when you first came into SL
Tinsel Silvera: your birthday
Amon26 Yellowjacket: like a SL birthday?
Daedalus Young: rezday is the day your avatar was born
Torley Linden: Amon26 that looks like great art... I'd like to see a wider-angle one with buildings and stuff too, some of the scenery... but this is neat.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oo gotcha, thanks
Chase Marellan: Is there a way to find out what your rezday is?
Torley Linden: Yes, "SL birthday" = "rezday"!
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: cool
Torley Linden: Chase, if you check your own profile...
Wolfie Rankin: so I'm an old wolfie now
Torley Linden: it says in there... :)
Daedalus Young: open your profile
Laetizia Coronet: mine is november somewhere
Amon26 Yellowjacket: wee! thx for the input
Chase Marellan: Oh sure, the easy way. :)
Torley Linden: Edit menu > Profile and look it up.
Lyndsey Forager: im not till november
Simon Kline: look on your profile, that tells you the date u were created in sl
Paolo Bade: Torley I'm not saying it as advertising, but I would really love if someone from Linden could take a look at the exhibit. I think it is the first time Black and White is used like in RL in Second Life
Amon26 Yellowjacket: heh, my rezday is close to my b-day i think
Daedalus Young: 12 Dec mine, easy to remember
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: well. sorta close.. *just checked*
Paolo Bade: now you can mute me :-)
Torley Linden: Paolo: Ah! Hmmm you mean the exhibit itself is monochrome? Like, the builds used to present it? =)
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Thomas Shikami, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Particle Control: Couldn't find script blood
Particle Control: Couldn't find script cloud
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oh no, the set was in colour
Torley Linden: No worries... I wish I could attend more events but often can't, I really need clones (I make mention of this on https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden )
Amon26 Yellowjacket: im just using a monochrome layer for shading first
DJ Jenns gave you Snapshot.
Torley Linden: Load textures load!
Laetizia Coronet: Torely and the Torlettes :P
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Thomas Shikami, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Torley Linden: Amon26: Oh I was referring to Paolo. Sorry for any confusion.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: getting all the peliminary shading down right, and then adding colour, fixing the shading and maybe texture
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ooo ok
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Thomas Shikami, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Torley Linden: DJ those Greenies look like they're not indulging in healthy habits.
DJ Jenns: Torley and the marching melons!
Torley Linden: (I keep getting sent pictures, hehe.)
Tinsel Silvera: lol
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Amon26 Yellowjacket: haha
Tinsel Silvera: those greenies are showing up everywhere
Paolo Bade: the photos are Helmut Newton photos recreated in SL, and "developed" in BW using a special photoshop plugin. SO textures and light have been studied for the BW contrast
DJ Jenns: heh yes but they are adorable - and you can buy the av's too
Laetizia Coronet: yeah they are great
Daedalus Young: ohh, he should make a Greenie bathing in a watermelon!
Simon Kline: lol i was looking at the laptop wondering why there was so many xxxxxxxxxxx on the screen
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: the greenies are great
Tinsel Silvera: you can - where dj?
Simon Kline: then i looked where the greenie was stnding
Lyndsey Forager: the picture i am most impressed with is the one im my profile the DJ took - i love it
Torley Linden: In the yonder days when things were much quieter (noticeably) I used to hang out at a lot of events... nowadays with few exceptions, I am usually interrupted back and forth. It can get so crazy but at least I know there's a lot happening. :)
Vivienne Graves: b&w is easier to do using rendering fx on the graphics card
DJ Jenns: look for the sim called greenies and explore
Torley Linden: Ohh there's Greenie avatars? Didn't know that.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: mrah, it looks like im going to have to cut out early. i just got a call from the salon down the street and they want me for something. ^-^ i might be a guinnea pig today!
DJ Jenns: im not going to tell you where because you have to find it - its part of the fun
Torley Linden: I wonder if anyone will make Greenies collectible dolls... like posable figures offline or something.
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: yes, they have a shop
Laetizia Coronet: but Torey - no Greenie/Pinkie ones ;)
Tinsel Silvera: great pix lyndsey
Torley Linden: Haha Greenies, meet the Pinkies!???
Lyndsey Forager: thanks tinsel - all djs work though
Torley Linden: Maybe that's the other half of the equation?
Tinsel Silvera: ah
Tinsel Silvera: i see - a game in a game
Tinsel Silvera: cool
Amon26 Yellowjacket: taa for now everyone. Torley, it was a blast meeting you finally ^,^
Chase Marellan: Bye, Amon!
DJ Jenns: take care Amon26 nice meeting you
Torley Linden: Oh and you too, thanks for coming Amon26!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: baibai chase
Daedalus Young: bye
Tinsel Silvera: bye amon
Amon26 Yellowjacket: take care jennis
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: bye Amon26
Evangeline Wind: take care amon
Torley Linden: Heheh... I like alternative spellings, "bai" is fun. :D
Amon26 Yellowjacket: quick someone claim my seat!!!
Laetizia Coronet: Isn't that Hindi, bhai?
Damani Roadster 0.50 - watermelon: You are not the owner...
Paolo Bade gave you book12northby.
Lyndsey Forager: i also bought my first rl thing inworl using L$this week - i bought a moodbeam from iwoot
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oh
Amon26 Yellowjacket: *pewf!*
Torley Linden: Oh, what's a moodbeam do?
Paolo Bade gave you book13bunnygirl.
Torley Linden: Sounds fancy.
Lyndsey Forager: they light up and look cute
DJ Jenns: me too ! they light up in different patterns etc
Lyndsey Forager: only L$5000
DJ Jenns: and react to music
Chase Marellan: Lyndsey -- how dot that work?
DJ Jenns: well $7000 including delivery
Lyndsey Forager: and L$2000 for delivery
Simon Kline: at my flickr there's pics of the greenie av's and pics from wolfies rez day party yesterday http://www.flickr.com/photos/56587713@N00/
Chase Marellan: the RL/SL thing I mean
Laetizia Coronet: *only* L$ 5000 - that's all I own in this world!
Wolfie Rankin: take a seat, eva
Torley Linden: Paolo: I like the texture you sent me with a plane... that reminds me of a movie... Alfred Hitchcock?
Torley Linden: Ahhh... fun stuff.
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Paolo Bade: yes
DJ Jenns: ahh you register on a website from a link in here which presumably ties your web account to your av
Vivienne Graves: but how much are you losing on the exchange rate?
DJ Jenns: Vivienne its scarilly cheap
Torley Linden: Simon: Cool!
Tinsel Silvera: does it fluctuate with the exchange rate
Laetizia Coronet: actually the Euro is very well opposite the dollar
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Chase Marellan: Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Torley Linden: OK, I gotta look up iwoot... not familiar with them... yet...
Lyndsey Forager: not much - the retail price works out MORE than the L$ price
Evangeline Wind: ty wolfie :-)
DJ Jenns: products for £19.99 = around l$10,000
Vivienne Graves: ah...okay
Tinsel Silvera: ah
Lyndsey Forager: its so cool - and they have huge robot sculptures
Lyndsey Forager: and shopping trolleys
Torley Linden: These moodbeams look so cute!
DJ Jenns: hehe <3 the shopping trolleys
DJ Jenns: they have a seat so you can have a passnger
Torley Linden: http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/mood-beams/index.html
Vivienne Graves: no huge robot shopping trolleys though? :(
Lyndsey Forager: lol, no
DJ Jenns: we worked out the passenger can have their own trolley to
Torley Linden: Hahaha Lyndsey, sounds really eclectic... I like neat stuff like that...
Torley Linden: HAHA Transformer that turns into a trolley!
Simon Kline: hehe i love that website torley
Lyndsey Forager: its just so cool to buy real stuff with L$
DJ Jenns: i think we had 4 of us linked up
Laetizia Coronet: or armed and dangerous shopping trolleys lke you wish you had before Xmas?
Torley Linden: OK I gotta check out the website more after work *makes a bookmark*
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Haha to protect your gifts?
DJ Jenns: It's definatly a pleasant way of shopping
Angsty Rossini: Can I ask a newbie question - any plans or vague thoughts abouty making bits of SL available offline - eg building and Inventory management?
Laetizia Coronet: no to get htrough the shops faster :P
Lyndsey Forager: can you check out the region @ work - research purposes lol
Wolfie Rankin: I wanted a mathmos space projector, didn't get one though, but they look cool
Torley Linden: Angsty: Yes, definitely, we've thought about that for long times, even inventory backup -- fraught with complications and it's a long road but it's those things we'd eventually love to see happen.
DJ Jenns: mathmos space projector ?
Laetizia Coronet: offline inventory management would be good, yes
Daedalus Young: building would be nice
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: backups would be WONDERFUL :-)
Angsty Rossini: I'd love to able to practise building offline
DJ Jenns: its a mathmos candle and a space projector ;)
Vivienne Graves: an offline sandbox WOULD be a lovely thing to have...the inventory thing seems trickier, since it's currently fetched from the asset server
Angsty Rossini: ability to export a copy of my inventory, then clean it up!!
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: me too, building offline would be great
Tinsel Silvera: torley - i noticed in JIRA that not too many people seem to have voted for the awards yet
Torley Linden: We are at the point where some open source innovators are making strides of making SL more portable and light (e.g., AJAX Life by Katherine Berry), so it's open to possibility.
DJ Jenns: Wouldnt that be possible with an open source server ?
Daedalus Young: you can run OpenSim on your own machine
Tinsel Silvera: everyone needs to vote
Daedalus Young: then you have your private sandbox
Daedalus Young: but you can't take those stuff onto the Main Grid
Laetizia Coronet: or go to the beta grid
DJ Jenns: yes but you cant transfer items between worlds
Torley Linden: Yeah there are interesting experiments right now, OpenSim is definitely notable for that, I know the peeps working on that have wowed our devs...
Angsty Rossini: At this point, I'd be happy be offline Sandbox and thumbnails of my inventory
DJ Jenns: but its a fascinating idea
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: oh, another thing, if we could preview inventory items without wearing that, that would be great
Daedalus Young: but you can write a script that reads all your prim settings
Laetizia Coronet: usually I build 500m above sandboxes for no grief
Chase Marellan: Yeah, but once you've got something built you can take the specs and build much more quickly onthe MG.
DJ Jenns: theres already another reference "grid" up
Daedalus Young: and write a script on the main grid that builds your stuff from that info
Grazel Cosmo: there's at least one offline building tool out there, lets you build in the app, it writes out a file, which you cut/past into a notecard and use a script in SL and it recreates teh prims
DJ Jenns: with multiple opensim servers
Daedalus Young: DeepGrid
Angsty Rossini: exaclt, work it all out offline, then come inworld and zap through it
Torley Linden: A lot of these are great and very "Hey, that'd be the best thing since sliced bread!" features. Some are very difficult to do unless we change major parts of our system, but until they happen (if they do), I know they'll continue to be asked for.
DJ Jenns: thats the one
Wolfie Rankin: an offline inventory would be awesome, I notice it's more difficul to find new stuff in the one we have, as it was recently changed
Daedalus Young: 425 regions, last I checked
Torley Linden: I'd like to preview clothes before wearing too... too often I put on the wrong stuff.
Laetizia Coronet: sliced bread - that's what we need
Wolfie Rankin: I can't do the "find objects 2 days old" thing now
DJ Jenns: Torley - where will lindenlabs go after opensource ?
Laetizia Coronet: TOrley, yes!
Vivienne Graves: Maybe a right click with a preview thumbnail for inventory items?
Torley Linden: Some people like Jeffrey Gomez have crafted offline builders that can import into SL... they aren't the easiest to use but things like that need to be done, the pioneering steps, in order for further progress to happen.
Lyndsey Forager: omg - yes torley - or you replace and outfit by accident and stand there just wearing a blouse!
DJ Jenns: as a buisness
Angsty Rossini: yes please
Laetizia Coronet: previewing clothes - it is hard to buy clothes for a black avi
Angsty Rossini: and a way of finding duplicates in invetory would help!
Laetizia Coronet: all models are white
Torley Linden: I wish we could have holograms of stuff, since SL is a 3D world, and to see inventory without actually rezzing it would be nice -- I'm informed this is isn't practical with the current system tho.
Daedalus Young: that's a shame
DJ Jenns: there are so many items - i think that would put critical load on the asset server
Chase Marellan: Well, experiments are important. They move things forward.
Torley Linden: Because your inventory is kind of "dumb" in that it can't actually tell, for example, how many prims are in an object until you rez it...
Laetizia Coronet: I guess it would be possible for vendors like me to offer 1L previews marked DEMO
Angsty Rossini: instead of a sandbox, we'd go to the holodeck to check out clothing items :)
Torley Linden: Chase: Yes totally, experiments are necessary to determine what *will* be stable...
Lyndsey Forager: i think there are a few more people making sking from different ethnecities now - there was a preview on the fashion victem blog today - swirly was wearing them
Torley Linden: Lyndsey do you have an URL?
Lyndsey Forager: yes, just 1 sec
Lyndsey Forager: ie is taking a wee sec to open
Grazel Cosmo: hmm I'd think with some server side additions you could do an inventory preview where it rezzes a temp-on-rez copy with scripts disabled (to avoid potential self-replicators)
Chase Marellan: Right; I've alwasy felt that it's people experimenting -- and knowing HOW to experiment -- is what let the web survive the crash.
Torley Linden: I think it's pretty cool to see such an array of skins for many tastes, some quite affordable, esp. for newcomers... but there's such a gamut. Skins run an amazingly wide price range.
Lyndsey Forager: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9828337@N05/828945171/
Laetizia Coronet: Torey SL NEEDS to offer a black avi before AL Sharpton gets on the case, seriously
Lyndsey Forager: opps wrong one
Wolfie Rankin: heh, verm found something funny in ABC sandbox
Angsty Rossini: Well, 4 months in SL and I have not spent 1 cent on clothing - it CAN be done :)
Laetizia Coronet: I mean for newbs
Vivienne Graves: There are quite a few people making Asian skins now, anyway...black and Asian Indian, not so much, though )and...overall, SL is amazingly white, it seems, considering the number of users)
Lyndsey Forager: http://slfashionvictim.blogspot.com/ - thats more like it
Torley Linden: OK thanks *looks*
Torley Linden: Laetizia: How do you mean? :)
Torley Linden: Angsty: That's pretty resourceful!
Thomas Shikami: everyone can be what they like
Laetizia Coronet: Vivienne, I am trying to change it but I am just one... and my black-modelled clothing doesn't sell at all
Grazel Cosmo: I've seen quite a few black/dark skins, its just a matter of finding the right shop
Angsty Rossini: I'm always surprised how much new residents stress about getting "?money"
Simon Kline: heheh yes i get that question from them alot too ang
Laetizia Coronet: Torley, imagine this quote: "SL lets you be white or an animal" coming from Sharpton, that would be a huge stink
Torley Linden: I know some of the new gateway communities have been offering more cultural and themed experiences (with corresponding avs I think)... we have the likes of Kaizen from Brazil, MeltingDots from Japan... there will be more.
DJ Jenns: heh angsty - i love being pestered with "how do i make money"
Vivienne Graves: THere seem to be some interesting sociological questions raised by the ability to choose one's outward appearance...apparently a majority of black users of SL actually have white avatars
Lyndsey Forager: but it the skin and shape together that gets things looking good - some skins just look wrong on certain body shapes
Angsty Rossini: tsk! :)
Grazel Cosmo: and the skin I have is tintable, so I could be black if I wanted, but its not often you find skin makers who make the texture partially transparent so you can tweak the tone
DJ Jenns: to which i reply "telling new people how to make money..."
DJ Jenns: lolol
Tinsel Silvera: that is always the first question i get
Shinee Jewell: Torley.... sorry I'm behind the conversation
Simon Kline: and the second question "what's the aim"
Shinee Jewell: but about being able to see inventory without rezzing it
Tinsel Silvera: i need to put it in a notecard
Torley Linden: Laetizia: I've seen African and African-American (and generally "black" or "dark-skinned") avatars but there aren't that many I've seen. More people who want to be that are free to choose... one of the greatest pioneers of SL, Bel Muse, is a black woman.
Wolfie Rankin: My Rezday Party... http://www.sloz.info/
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Yes, I think some Celestial Skins are tintable, but it would be better to offer black models as well
Wolfie Rankin: did you see Simon?
Chase Marellan: Grazel -- probably because they don't know that they can do it, much less how.
Shinee Jewell: can youincorporate the logic used when trying to upload something from your pc to SL to make that happen?
Simon Kline: *checks*
Torley Linden: There are definitely holes in the market.
Laetizia Coronet: Tor, yes, but for newbs there is no real choice
Wolfie Rankin: wow, new hair
Angsty Rossini: Wlofie, I've gor snapshots up on my Flickr acct too :)
Shinee Jewell: you get a rpeview of the texture to upload
Torley Linden: Bel Muse is one of the founders of Nexus Prime in Gibson, which was like, the first cyberpunk city... I haven't seen her in ages but she kicked ass at Tringo too.
Wolfie Rankin: Thankyou :)
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Oh, you mean at the Linden signup process on the website? Or inworld?
Laetizia Coronet: I should go there then
Torley Linden: Or both?
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: actually the skins are quite cheap, 1000 lindens is only 5 dollars
Tinsel Silvera: tringo is coming back strong
Laetizia Coronet: the signup process Tor
Lyndsey Forager: torley - i loved the making of starry night video - so well done
Tinsel Silvera: thanks to jelly and friends
Wolfie Rankin: Angsty, what's your flick addy?
Grazel Cosmo: of course I have a lot of skins, and full AVs heh, though my human stuff tends to be pale (though still darker than I am RL lol)
Tinsel Silvera: yes that video was beautiful
Laetizia Coronet: 12 avi's, 2 furries, some "asian" and the rest is white
Angsty Rossini: Angsty Rossini :)
Daedalus Young: well, there is this bug where newbs arrive on OI completely black...
Shirley Marquez: For us that's cheap... for the international users who can't buy L$ (yes, there are some), it's a LOT
Angsty Rossini: is gthat a bug?? the black skin??
Torley Linden: Ahhh yes. Yeah -- in the longer-term, there will be many people with many diverse interests asking for more choices, in part why we've expanded the signup with new points of entry. LL can't cover all the bases (and those avatars, most of them, came from Resident creators).
Daedalus Young: yes
Laetizia Coronet: I can't buy L$ myseld
Wolfie Rankin: got it, ta
Angsty Rossini: I sent over 1 hour trying to help someone fix it, with no success!
Torley Linden: I like hybrid-looking avatars...
Torley Linden: that you can't tie to a single "ethnicity".
Lyndsey Forager: i just got my payment info on file last week - now that my paypay is behaving!
Chase Marellan: Angsty -- same experience here; turned out to be a conflict in HIS video card, solved by going back to an older SL version.
Thomas Shikami: how have you managed that?
Tinsel Silvera: paypal can be a pain
Torley Linden: Lyndsey: Glad you liked that, I was just happy to share it, Robbie Dingo is an amazing creator.
Shirley Marquez: too many of the black skins I've seen have very Caucasian-looking faces -- they're just tinted dark
Vivienne Graves: Paypal is a bugger to set up if you're in Europe
Angsty Rossini: oh, I felt so bad I couldn't help :(
Grazel Cosmo: at least there's more options for a starting AV now, when I joined there was just male/female and you had to go from there on your own heh
Torley Linden: Choice is an interesting thing...
Laetizia Coronet: I did my best on this face, although some would perhaps call it a caricature
Thomas Shikami: how have you made paypal working with SL?
Lyndsey Forager: do new noobies get prim hair now?
Shirley Marquez: they do at some of the third-party portals
Laetizia Coronet: Lyndsey, depends on their choice of avi
Shirley Marquez: and complete skins too
Torley Linden: more choices, more diversity -- but also more confusion for some. Streamlining those choices can be very effective (as what Apple's done with their product lines)...
Torley Linden: But yeah, re: the totally black avatar graphics glitches...
Daedalus Young: Laetizia, I think that's a great avatar
Torley Linden: I've seen a number of Issue Tracker reports on that...
Laetizia Coronet: thanks Daedalus :)
Wolfie Rankin: I was thinking of something, you know how they don't let "no paids" enter some sims?
Laetizia Coronet: yes Wolfie, it is a setting for landowners
Wolfie Rankin: what if it was adjusted to "age of avatars"
Torley Linden: In some cases "totally black avatars" are related to dual monitors.
Wolfie Rankin: as much older residents are highly unlikely to grief
Grazel Cosmo: witht he new points of entry, is that once the AV is done with (or skips) the tutorial sim, or does that replace the tutorial sim entirely?
Vivienne Graves: that might change once this 'age verification' thing comes online, since that won't require payment info
Torley Linden: Wolfie: Hmmm well I know some griefers have used "slumber accounts"...
Torley Linden: Like they sign up for a bunch...
Lyndsey Forager: torley - are there any updates on when age verification will be happening?
Torley Linden: and then log in later...
Wolfie Rankin: oh dear
Vivienne Graves: it's not done because of grief as much as to keep out underage users in some instances
Tinsel Silvera: slumber accounts?
Torley Linden: Lyndsey: I don't know, sorry -- I haven't heard updates on that front from our Governance Team yet.
Laetizia Coronet: I know griefers with payment info
Angsty Rossini: all that effort, just to grief??
Shirley Marquez: still, it would slow them down -- nothing is a COMPLETE bar to griefers
Torley Linden: Angsty: Sadly so.
Chase Marellan: What baffles me is why video specs on the client side would affect how we see somone inworld, but it's true.
Chase Marellan: Sorry, I'm running on internal lag. :(
Lyndsey Forager: life is too short to grief - i get enough grief rl
Torley Linden: Chase: Good question, it's because your avatar textures are baked through your own graphics card.
Tinsel Silvera: i agree lyndsey
Chase Marellan: AH!
Thomas Shikami: texture rebake for characters should work without involving OpenGL and gfx
Chase Marellan: OK, then THAT makes sense.
DJ Jenns: pfftt you never moan about me any other time lyndsey :p lmfao
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Torley Linden: OpenGL has a number of curious limitations which I don't know the finer details of...
Wolfie Rankin: it would be lovely if us officer types could just switch off those mario poofer things immediately, rather than hunt in a laggy sim
Angsty Rossini: So, the fact that Wolfie isn't wearing pants - is that my computer, or wolfies??
Shirley Marquez: Thomas, baking the textures in software without using the graphics cards would be a LOT slower
Wolfie Rankin: haha I have pants
DJ Jenns: has there ever been any news on the move to Havok IV ?
Tinsel Silvera: wolfie has the no texture pants on
Grazel Cosmo: yeah Wolfie's still got the MI pants for me too
Thomas Shikami: Shirley,How often are textures rebaked?
Chase Marellan: Wolfie -- you do, but we don't see them
Wolfie Rankin: weird
Torley Linden: Havok 4... Andrew and the Havok team are continuing to work on that...
Shirley Marquez: every time you enter a new sim, or if you force it in the Client menu
Tinsel Silvera: there you go wolfie
Torley Linden: it *should* be entering QA testing soon but, aside from that, I see regular reports of all the little details that get fixed...
Angsty Rossini: You're wearing the white 'missing' pants to me Wolfie :)
Grazel Cosmo: now I'm seeing them
Laetizia Coronet: could be a success to sell MI clothes and grey prim hair ;)
Thomas Shikami: the rebaking of textures is a one time action. Not an every fram one
Wolfie Rankin: better?
Tinsel Silvera: yes
Torley Linden: There are long lists of action items for every big project we've got.
Thomas Shikami: that can be done in software only
Grazel Cosmo: until you closed appearance edit heh, I don't think we'll ever get rid of that bug
Evangeline Wind: at least he has them on now, he didnt earlier :-)
Lyndsey Forager gave you Hand Held scottish flag with waving Gesture.
DJ Jenns: Torley - lyndsey tells me you know about Forfar Bridies ?
Simon Kline: i can't wait not to drive *into* roads anymore
Wolfie Rankin: glad I had my spiderman undies on
Tinsel Silvera: lol
Torley Linden: Hahah Spider-Man undies?
Wolfie Rankin: just a joke :)
Torley Linden: That cracks me up... makes me think of... Tony the Tiger T-shirts!
Torley Linden: Hahah!
Shirley Marquez: I have to agree with Nicholaz, though, that the client is getting better
Wolfie Rankin: I'll say anything for a laugh ;)
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Tony the Tiger, from Kellogs?
Thomas Shikami: I'm using the Nicholaz edition
Torley Linden: Nicholaz sure has been such a helpful contributors...
Simon Kline: lol
Angsty Rossini: Don't belive the Wolf's sweet words!!!
Thomas Shikami: that's how the client should be
Torley Linden: THEY'RE GRRRRRREAT
Grazel Cosmo: yep, been ehre a bit over 2 years, its almost a totally different enviroment now between UI and feature changes heh
Wolfie Rankin: I know some furries who think Tony the Tiger is a hunk and a half :)
Torley Linden: I notice Open Source contributors, some of them anyway, are getting more ambitious... as we get more responsive... I hope we can all keep it up.
Torley Linden: Grazel: it's so cool to see what grows...
Lyndsey Forager: have you got a tiger in your tank - oh no, thats esso petrol
Daedalus Young: I uploaded a patch for an SL wiki page, haha
Chase Marellan: Does anybody know how hard it si to make a "custom" viewer?
Shirley Marquez: they're also getting more ambitious because they've learned the code base... that took a while
Tinsel Silvera: lyndsey - i know that one
Chase Marellan: basically a modified version of the standard one?
Torley Linden: Daedalus: Oh really? Were was that? I haven't seen it yet.
Angsty Rossini: I just wish they included the current SL time in the web page !
Grazel Cosmo: yeah, and I've seen a few of my suggestions get implemented, even some within a week of commenting on the blog heh
Daedalus Young: WEB-237
Torley Linden: Shirley: So true, it's so rewarding too... the whole process of learning...
Daedalus Young: typo on the General disclaimer page
Shirley Marquez: Chase -- building the viewer isn't too hard, just time-consuming, and you have to have a reasonably fast computer
Lyndsey Forager: is bridie linder holding her own office hours now?
Vivienne Graves: er...current SL time isn't hard
Vivienne Graves: GMT -8 or 9
Angsty Rossini: So, put it on there??
Lyndsey Forager gave you Hand Held scottish flag with waving Gesture.
Thomas Shikami: it's about an hour to compile
Angsty Rossini: on the secondlife.com page??
Laetizia Coronet: and Cyn? Never seen her, she's always announced
Angsty Rossini: WEB-190
Thomas Shikami: much faster than building a Mozilla, though
Torley Linden: I haven't built my own viewer yet (devs have been providing me with latest internal builds) but would eventually learn to.
Tinsel Silvera: cyn hasn't in a while i think
DJ Jenns: as long as you dont try and patent it lmfao
Torley Linden: What about Cyn? :)
Laetizia Coronet: se never has her announced office hr
Daedalus Young: I tried reading the walkthrough for compiling a viewer, but that's all waay beyond me
Chase Marellan: Torley: Same here. Maybe I'll make that my next tutorial. :)
Wolfie Rankin: wow, angsty re-did my logo, I love it
Torley Linden: Ahh, was Cyn going to have office hours? I didn't know; she's sometimes at Linden Estate Services inworld I think tho.
Grazel Cosmo: I've not tried compiling the viewer yet, but I monitor the SLDev mailing list. My time is spent learning java right now
Torley Linden: Chase: HEYY that sounds like a great idea.
Daedalus Young: I'm used to simpler languages, like lsl2
Torley Linden: Tutorials can make such a big difference.
Torley Linden: It sounds so obvious, but so true...
Torley Linden: some people who find too much friction without assistance, when they get the help they need, it empowers them to do much greater things...
DJ Jenns: The same could be said for inspiration as well heh
Angsty Rossini: I like tutorials that show you what to do
Chase Marellan: Yes, the more people know how things work, the cooler stuff they can do.
Torley Linden: of course patience is important... but someone wants to have a clear idea of what they hope to accomplish, and get something out of it.
Angsty Rossini: or very user0friendly written ones
Tinsel Silvera: this is true
Torley Linden: Hehe. I like fun tutorials that are memorable... I mean, if they're not memorable, then you forget 'em (and what good is that?).
Lyndsey Forager: i love natalia zelmanovs tutorials - just amazing - and she is making haor now as well
Chase Marellan: ABsolutely!
Lyndsey Forager: *hair
Angsty Rossini: Natalia s BRILLIANT
Torley Linden: Yes, Natalia is a great Grid explorer and tutorial-maker...
Daedalus Young: yeah, Natalia also did great Sculptie tuts
DJ Jenns: you mean like your mouse move sun and midnight tweak tutorial
Grazel Cosmo: the trick to writing a tutorial is to keep in mind the audience. Too many either write over or below their target audience.
Torley Linden: her blog is so prolific.
Angsty Rossini: I can foloow all her tutes and get the same result as she does!!
DJ Jenns: :-)
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Oh I love Natalia's tutorials
Torley Linden: http://slnatalia.blogspot.com/ <-- Natalia's page if you haven't been there yet!
Lyndsey Forager: and her shop is amazing
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: I always recommend her blog to new people who ask me for help
Thomas Shikami: I'd like to show a prim shape
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: I recommend the travel guide and the guide for new people
Angsty Rossini: I'm working on her Flexi-prims skirtst tutorial right now
Torley Linden: At least partial proof is found in recommendations. "If you like this, pass it on."
Laetizia Coronet: I did a tutorial on FLickr but it is highly unpopular lol
Laetizia Coronet: I can't do machinima
Lyndsey Forager: awwww
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: unpopular? why?
Laetizia Coronet: noone watches it
Shinee Jewell: need a good publicist
Torley Linden: Awwwe! Well sometimes it just hasn't been discovered yet!
Tinsel Silvera: put the link out here laetizia and we will go watch it
Laetizia Coronet: it's a small trick to find out where someone got their hair
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: maybe they haven't found it
Daedalus Young: you don't need machinima, there are SlidTuts too: http://slidtuts.wordpress.com/
Torley Linden: I see a lot of diamonds... so to speak... that haven't been noticed...
Tinsel Silvera: i have watched those daedalus
Torley Linden: SlidTuts, I ike that word. :D
Laetizia Coronet: I can't do that now, the browser would kill me lol
Tinsel Silvera: ah
Laetizia Coronet: SLidTuts... ooohy that's asking for typos :
Tinsel Silvera: yes it is
Lyndsey Forager: DJ has crashed - and there was him boasting about his new fast ram in his computer - lol
Shinee Jewell: that's a big problem
Torley Linden: Oh dear!
Laetizia Coronet: lol
Shinee Jewell: so many people trying to get noticed and don't know how to
Daedalus Young: freudian typos, you mean
Torley Linden: I hope DJ will be back safely... it is surreal seeing an avatar still around after they crash.
Lyndsey Forager: guess it happens to us all
Torley Linden: Freudian slips are funny.
Torley Linden: Sometimes embarrassing!
Laetizia Coronet: Shinee, my blog is quite succesful so I am not complaining
Torley Linden: I saw a ghosted avatar the other day, it's been a long time since I saw that.
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Tinsel Silvera: laetizia i need to add you to my blogroll - send me in IM later
Laetizia Coronet: yes Tor like when Daniel spoke of 'bogs' instead of 'blogs':P
Torley Linden: Laetizia has a nice range of topics.
Shinee Jewell: not referring to u directly - sorry if you took it that way
Torley Linden: HAHAH "bogs"!??!
Grazel Cosmo: hmm something to add to JIRA I think, the ability to right-click a URL in the client and save the link to a 'bookmarks' location (maybe configurable pref or just a HTML page like oldfashioned Netscape bookmarks)
Lyndsey Forager: yes, i have seen more and more ghosted avatars lately
Torley Linden: I missed that.
Torley Linden: Bogs make me think of swamps!
Laetizia Coronet: thank you Torley :)
Wolfie Rankin: I thought once, imagine if someone died in RL and kept coming back in sl months later to build
Vivienne Graves: 'bog roll'? er...
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: what are ghosted avatars?
Daedalus Young: makes me think of that movie "Labyrinth"
Torley Linden: Ghosted avatar is... when you see someone, they aren't there, but you can walk through 'em...
Torley Linden: like a ghost!
Daedalus Young: bog of eternal stench
Lyndsey Forager: Ohhhhh
Daedalus Young: with David Bowie
Lyndsey Forager: call in most haunted - lol
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: oh, I see
Wolfie Rankin: would be weird if bits of sl were actually haunted.
Torley Linden: Labyrinth was a great movie, David Bowie as Jareth... and that maze... so trippy.
Jocelyn Sands gave you About Bid for a Cure.
Daedalus Young: yeah, I love that movie too
Lyndsey Forager: wb jenns
Torley Linden: Sometimes there are jokes about hauntedness...
DJ Jenns: ty
Torley Linden: like prims drifting by themselves... sometimes scripts got awry constitutes some sort of digital "paranormal behavior".
Torley Linden: Woot welcome back Jenns.
Grazel Cosmo: yeah, used to see ghosted AVs a lot, often tied to people crossing sim borders or getting dropped in certain ways, they'd be offline or in another sim but you'd still see them nearby (though usually they don't show up as green dots on teh minimap)
Tinsel Silvera: there are some cool haunted houses in here
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: LOL
Laetizia Coronet: Tor you might want to add to the Italian newspaper action to send a picture of you and your avatar - it's on my blog
Thomas Shikami: sometimes, everything goes phantom
Torley Linden: I remember this guy who freaked out and told me his house in SL was haunted, it turns out it was one of those, that you click, and it changes altitude, so every time he'd click on it, it'd "run away" from him.
Thomas Shikami: and you can walk through walls
Wolfie Rankin: I was working on a glass insulator once, and it spontaniously just floted up and away
DJ Jenns: Ty Torley.. SL just won the multi-app which crashes first lottery
Torley Linden: Laetizia: Oh I'll check that soon.
Damani Roadster 0.50 - watermelon: You are not the owner...
Simon Kline: lol dj
Lyndsey Forager: lol!
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: I read once about a case of a female avatar that was at someone's backyard and wouldn't go
Torley Linden: Yeah I definitely am in need of a better URL catcher...
Damani Roadster 0.50 - watermelon: You are not the owner...
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: a ghost, I guess
Torley Linden: so much stuff I like to check out later...
Shirley Marquez: I built a house at one point that kept going phantom whenever I used the teleporters
Daedalus Young: I experienced 0 gravity this week
Shirley Marquez: (it was a bug in the script, I fixed it)
DJ Jenns: its my pc begging for more Ram when SL takes up 500meg alone
Torley Linden: Wilhelmina: That sounds familiar... sometimes people log in and idle and they don't time out... so they're just motionless...
Tinsel Silvera: zero?
Lyndsey Forager: omg - yes - i just floated away as well - last weekend
Daedalus Young: well, or less than zero
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Just think, it sometime might happen that one of us logout, but the avatar stays in SL anb the others see it as a ghost
Tinsel Silvera: good movie
Angsty Rossini: sounds like fun - floating away!
Daedalus Young: I couldn't stay on the ground, while others were
Torley Linden: But as long as we can find solid repros for these bugs, hopefully they can be fixed. It's kind alike the X-Files!
Tinsel Silvera: {:o)
Wolfie Rankin: a friend was in our mall for a couple of days in the one spot, I wondered how he did it, but it was a glitch, he hadn't been on for a couple of days
Shirley Marquez: it's a good thing RAM is cheap now!
Thomas Shikami: and I had the effect of everything going phantom inside a sim
Torley Linden: Wilhelmina: Yes, that happens on rare occasion, or, presence info -- that you log out but the system doesn't recognize it...
Daedalus Young: yeah, couldn't repro after it was fixed
Torley Linden: so people can still see you inworld... and push you around...
Torley Linden: it's nuts!
Daedalus Young: was fun too
Vivienne Graves: Presence hasn't been working properly at all since...um
Laetizia Coronet: We had some fun with that, making goofy pictures
Vivienne Graves: three updates ago at least
DJ Jenns: Its only within the past month for me sim crossings have been really bad
Lyndsey Forager: i wish i could see online status in search
Laetizia Coronet: putting coconuts over ghosted peoples' heads
Wolfie Rankin: have you seen the one where you can see people on another sim, like close, and can speak to them [talking about am island sim]
Torley Linden: Smoother region crossings would go a long away towards comfortable linear travel.
Thomas Shikami: I see no problem in making online status visible in search again
Lyndsey Forager: yes - very true
Shirley Marquez: I can't remember the last time presence was fully reliable -- certainly not any time this year
Vivienne Graves: yes, but that would be difficult considering the data transitioning between servers, no?
Laetizia Coronet: some people just don't want it to be visible
Grazel Cosmo: I still get random (but not frequent enough to figure out enough to bug report) 'silent drops' where I see myself connected and its not until I try to type in chat that I realize I'm not actually connected. IMs don't work as they appear to go through though the recepient never sees them
Thomas Shikami: I'm confident, there's a way to do it, without database stress
Torley Linden: Online status in Search was removed due to load issues... caused too much duress on our systems. We'd want to add it back but change it to be less taxing.
Vivienne Graves: Would the solution to that be to host adjacent sims on networked servers in the same colocation facility?
Tinsel Silvera: that happens to me grazel
Thomas Shikami: should be really low stress if done right
Laetizia Coronet: Tor coulsdn't they just remove Search and all that to a Web base?
Thomas Shikami: most important thing, do not index the online status column
Shirley Marquez: Vivienne, I think it's a code problem, it would happen even if the sims were running on the same box
Grazel Cosmo: funny thing is it seems to happen a lot less now that I've turned off the auto-afk
Daedalus Young: make a good deal with Google
Tinsel Silvera: i will try that as well
Thomas Shikami: sometimes not indicing a column does wonders
Lyndsey Forager: Torly - have you heard of an avatar called Doktor Dolittle - he was onlince since 11/17/2005
Torley Linden: Vivienne: I'm not absolutely sure of that, but there are a number of larger problems too; and the fact that regardless of physical location, since Second Life is so worldwide, there are bound to be multiple points of possible failure we need to consider.
Daedalus Young: Google integrated SL Search
Torley Linden: Network routing seems like magic when it works, but when it doesn't, oh so painful!
Torley Linden: Lyndsey: I haven't, no.
Lyndsey Forager: ah - it was just incase you had
Torley Linden: We do have a team working on Search this quarter too...
Lyndsey Forager: unfortunatly the rl him dies this week
Torley Linden: I check in with them every now and then...
Lyndsey Forager: *died
Laetizia Coronet: someone bought a jacket from mee, called Whata Fool lol
Torley Linden: Lyndsey: :(
Wolfie Rankin: damn'
Lyndsey Forager: thanks
Torley Linden: I remember the first time I attended a funeral in Second Life.
Simon Kline: lol lae
Grazel Cosmo: yep, its fun when its a single lost packet somewhere in between the user and the servers that causes the problem. Most don't realize just how much the data between them and SL (or other locations) changes 'hands'
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: funeral?
Chase Marellan: Lyndsey: sorry ot hear that.
Tinsel Silvera: they have funerals in here?
Shinee Jewell: if you are in a group with someone or you check their profile for groups...... the list of members in the group displays whether they are online
Vivienne Graves: There's a cemetery here
Lyndsey Forager: i just am a bit confused - its not like i really knew him - kinds wierd
Wolfie Rankin: Eva and I discussed that at one point, we made arrangements if it should happen
Tinsel Silvera: for avs or real ?
Vivienne Graves: in the Memoris sim
Torley Linden: There are some memorials on the Grid today... and yes, there are funerals. To complement the "RL" ones for people who can't make it there in person.
Tinsel Silvera: ah
Evangeline Wind: yes we did
Torley Linden: For the real people behind the avatars...
Torley Linden: *makes a note to check out Memoris*
Tinsel Silvera: like Jesse malthus?
Angsty Rossini: so, in my will I'm suposed to mention the disposal/dispersal of my SL assets??
Torley Linden: Sadly yes, Jesse.
Angsty Rossini: :)
Tinsel Silvera: i voted for jesses in JIRA
Tinsel Silvera: he was from my home state
Tinsel Silvera: and a good kid apparently
Torley Linden: Angsty: We can bequeath a Resident's assets per their will if we get the proper legal documentation.
Laetizia Coronet: Prok had actually a good tip on his blog, about a Japanese memorial site
Wolfie Rankin: I'd like that
Vivienne Graves: That was Memoris
Tinsel Silvera: i saw that laetizia
Laetizia Coronet: ah ok
Angsty Rossini: my family would keel over in shock :)
Vivienne Graves: Sort of a commercial thing
Wolfie Rankin: I'd also like it if... If the person died, their friends caould, "bury" his actual avatar
Vivienne Graves: rent a memorial space for a RL or SL person who's died
Laetizia Coronet: oy Wolfie
Lyndsey Forager: its so sad - like - seeing his profile still there
Laetizia Coronet: I would have to specify what I'd like to wear and everything - not sure if I'd be ready for that
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: how long SL keeps someone's profile + account if the person stops logging in?
Tinsel Silvera: his profile is still out there?
Torley Linden: If someone has an object inworld, you can check their profile...
Thomas Shikami: for now, it stays forever till changed some day
Laetizia Coronet: profiles seem to last forever, if someone has built something, you can get to their profile
Angsty Rossini: oh no - a pre-planned SL funeral - all filed in my FUNERAL folder in inventory
Tinsel Silvera: so then in a way our avs do live on without us
Tinsel Silvera: as long as our profile still exists at least
Vivienne Graves: Ghosts in the machine
Torley Linden: Wilhelmina: Depends on several things. For example, if someone is a delinquent account (not paying for land), they get their account on hold about a few weeks after they enter that delinquent status.
Thomas Shikami: and you can be found in search
Jocelyn Sands gave you Why Diabetes.
Wolfie Rankin: a body with no soul
Torley Linden: Deep thoughts for sure.
Laetizia Coronet: come on people, this gives me the creeps!
Torley Linden: But if you're in good status and your account is being paid for, then you don't have to log in for years, theoretically.
Lyndsey Forager: on my rl parents headston - i had them put on it "memories are a gif to treasure, our of you will last forever"
Daedalus Young: in several decades, you may have avatars that have been in the family for many generations
Wolfie Rankin: A horse walks into a bar...
Torley Linden: Although if you're paying, I'd hope you come into Second Life to get value for your money. :)
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: what about free accounts?
Wolfie Rankin: yes
Wolfie Rankin: handed down
DJ Jenns: lyndsey if i pass away - as my rl friend i demand you somehow morph my av into a set of decks lolol
Shirley Marquez: so far as I know, profiles never get removed, even for deleted users -- deleted users don't show up in Search though
Torley Linden: Daedalus: That's a very curious thing to think about... very sci-fi... like robots.
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Lyndsey Forager: decks - i will remember
Torley Linden: "This avatar has belonged to the McChang clan for 143 years and then some!"
DJ Jenns: dEcks
Vivienne Graves: That's a kind of odd immortality in a way, too
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Torley Linden: Reminds me of Bicentennial Man.
Vivienne Graves: VERY odd
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: LOL
DJ Jenns: the e is important ;)
DJ Jenns: lol
Torley Linden: Shirley: Yup, that's how it is.
Laetizia Coronet: lol McChang? Must be Hong Kong :P
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Tinsel Silvera: torley! lol
Daedalus Young: yes, can be fun to think about new things way into the future
Lyndsey Forager: sorry - dogey finger
Torley Linden: McChang is a funny last name I use sometimes... because I like Scottish + Chinese. Like, uh, Tommy Chong!
Angsty Rossini: but, the inheriter of my AV, is nt me - hw can they represent me in SL??
Tinsel Silvera: up in smoke
Chase Marellan: Depends on how you define identity, I guess
Laetizia Coronet: but Torley, the rolling Scottish R and Chinese people... bad combo ;)
Angsty Rossini: they might wear clothes I hated!!
Torley Linden: Hahaha Laetizia, I'd love to hear the combo accent tho...
Lyndsey Forager: there is a great chinese restaurant in inverness called "jimmy chungs" - and there is "donald chongs" as well
Torley Linden: Hahaha Lyndsey.
Vivienne Graves: The idea of a unified 'self' is an illusion brought on by the continuity of consciousness and memory, anyway...you aren't the same person from day to day or year to year either, in many ways
Wolfie Rankin: perhaps in 20 years, we can personalise our avatars with similar likes and dislikes, and they will be self governing
Torley Linden: Angsty: Oh gosh, bad fashion sense!
Grazel Cosmo: well my AV is just the SL representation of my online persona that I've had since my first appearance online, back in 95 on FurryMUCK heh
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: May I take a picture and place it on snapzilla, would you guys mind?
Torley Linden: Sentient avatars that do the shopping even when you're not around?
DJ Jenns: hahahahaha
Lyndsey Forager: no probs
Laetizia Coronet: Wilhelmina, everyone does
DJ Jenns: Lyndsey
DJ Jenns: Im
Wolfie Rankin: he, I was on furrymuck too
Torley Linden: Tommy Chong is apparently the "mixed-race child of a Chinese father and a Scottish-Irish mother in Western Canada".
Lyndsey Forager: i like getting snapped
Chase Marellan: Wil: no problem
Shirley Marquez: go ahead, snap away
Torley Linden: Go ahead an' take a picture!
Angsty Rossini: Hmmm, my RL and SL personas are things I deliberatley keep apart Wolfie
Torley Linden: I like pictures. :)
Laetizia Coronet: I even have a combined RL/SL shot :)
Wolfie Rankin: Wolfie is the real me, I'm just a fake me behind the keyboard ;)
Tinsel Silvera: on your blog laetizia?
Shirley Marquez: I think Linden office hours count as a "public location", so there isn't any expectation of privacy anyway
Torley Linden: I like that one as it was linked to from New World Notes, Laetizia.
Laetizia Coronet: took an RL picture, recreated the lighting conditions in SL and merged them
Angsty Rossini: darn - every time I type my face falls into the cushions!!
Laetizia Coronet: yes Tor
Torley Linden: Hahahaha... *type type type* "AGRHRHRHR CUSHIONS!"
Tinsel Silvera: oh i saw that one
Simon Kline: lolol
Wolfie Rankin: nostrils full of cat hair
Torley Linden: By the way if you don't like the typing anim you can turn it off...
Laetizia Coronet: how?
Shinee Jewell: how?
Angsty Rossini: noooo - I LOVE the typing anim!!!
Tinsel Silvera: i like it cause it shows my someone is talking to me
Shirley Marquez: I know you can block it with an AO -- is there another way?
Wolfie Rankin: yes I like it too
Angsty Rossini: yes Tinsel
Torley Linden: Ohhh curiosity!
Daedalus Young: I've seen it in the window where you can set RenderGlow and stuff
Lyndsey Forager: i like it - but the sounds can get annoying
Torley Linden: Daedalus: Indeed.
Grazel Cosmo: or replace it with something else, like the people that do mystic gestures, tap on PDAs, etc. :)
Thomas Shikami: blocking it client side
Tinsel Silvera: now the sound is another issue
Thomas Shikami: you can either temporarely starting your line with / or /0
Laetizia Coronet: Lyndsey, you can stop the sound by starting with /
Torley Linden: Client menu (Ctrl-Alt-D) > Debug Settings and PlayTypingAnim = FALSE.
Thomas Shikami: or permanently
Wolfie Rankin: oh dear, katie, my doggie, says it's late and I should go to bed
Daedalus Young: that too
Tinsel Silvera: but our hands will still air type?
Shirley Marquez: good night, Wolfie
Tinsel Silvera: just the sound goes off?
Shinee Jewell: ty Torley ((files that away))
Torley Linden: If you do that Debug Setting, no air typing, no sound.
DJ Jenns: Torley - what IS cheesy beacon effects ?
Chase Marellan: Is there any way to set your chat to be on a certain channel without specifying for each line?
Angsty Rossini: its only 12:15 am Wolfie - go and howl at the moon!
Torley Linden: It's like... silent!
Laetizia Coronet: with / it's just the sound
Wolfie Rankin: I'm not going
Tinsel Silvera: ah
Vivienne Graves: SOme of the type replacement AOs replace the sound...I've seen some where your av is wrioting in a journal with a quill pen and you can hear the bnib scratching on paper
Wolfie Rankin: I'm a bad owner
Angsty Rossini: good :)
Torley Linden: Cheesy beacon effects means the locator beacon when you have a place on the map selected will be KEWL GRAPHIX!!!
Torley Linden: It looks more vibrant and animated.
Grazel Cosmo: yeah unless you type it all out then remove the /
Thomas Shikami: Chase, yes, using // instead of the /channel to use the last types channel number
Torley Linden: And it has sort of a shockwave pulse.
Laetizia Coronet: I should recreate my 1930 Naumann typewriter for use with the typing anim, complete with bell :)
Chase Marellan: Thanks!
Simon Kline: wahoo must try that
Torley Linden: I like keeping cheesy beacon on, and if you like it, send an IM to Runitai Linden, he made it.
Tinsel Silvera: that would be cool laetizia
Wolfie Rankin: it's a big red, throbbing pole
Torley Linden: Runitai also made ripple water... factoids!
Lyndsey Forager: lol, cheesy bacon
Tinsel Silvera: that ching ching sound
Torley Linden: Hahah Wolfie that sounds kinda... !!!!
Daedalus Young: Runitai did many good things
Shirley Marquez: lots of big red throbbing poles in SL ;)
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: ops, how did I end up here?
Vivienne Graves: I have a typewriter AO...a Smith-Corona manual model, it is
Torley Linden: Runitai is currently working on WindLight with our team from Windward Mark, now part of Linden Lab.
Wolfie Rankin: I channeled you
Torley Linden: I like classic typewriters and their fonts.
DJ Jenns: omg
Tinsel Silvera: i do as well
DJ Jenns: thats awesome
DJ Jenns: lolol
Torley Linden: Such style...
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Angsty Rossini: Its the pants Wolfie :)
DJ Jenns: like a radar blip!
Torley Linden: http://www.vintagetype.com I reckon.
Laetizia Coronet: yes me too, I have one here on display
Shirley Marquez: I'm looking forward to seeing a new version of Windlight
Tinsel Silvera: cool link torley
Wolfie Rankin: my pants channeled her?
Torley Linden: Shirley: Me too and I hope it'll be out soon for you to enjoy. :)
Angsty Rossini: couldn't help heself :)
Vivienne Graves: I have an ancient Remingron desk model from the '30's
Vivienne Graves: crackle-finish grey enamel
Tinsel Silvera: wolfie {:o)
Shirley Marquez: hope the new one isn't a frame rate killer like the original was!
Vivienne Graves: weighs about 60 pounds
Chase Marellan: Viv: me too!
Chase Marellan: My wife made me stop collecting them. :(
Tinsel Silvera: no way viv
Laetizia Coronet: mine is a "portable" but that's portable for a porter lol
Torley Linden: Ahh ahhhh and how the time has flown! Well folks I have got to go. I'd like to thank you for joining me for this vibrant discussion across a multitude of topics... I will be back at 2 PM PDT for my next office hour if you'd like to chat some more... :)
Torley Linden: Shirley Marquez: Me too, some of the lag bugs were fixed.
Thomas Shikami: Torley
Chase Marellan: Thanks, Torley!
Tinsel Silvera: thank you torley
Shirley Marquez: bye, Torley!
Daedalus Young: thanks Torley
Lyndsey Forager: windlight was so pretty - but i was confused by the settings - myine looked a bit foggy
Tinsel Silvera: have a great day
Angsty Rossini: Thanks
Thomas Shikami: want to see that parallel prim in world?
Laetizia Coronet: bye Torley, always a pleasure, thanks!
Vivienne Graves: thanks, Torley...g'bye
Evangeline Wind: nice to meet you torley :-) take care
Angsty Rossini: G'DAY MATE !!
Wolfie Rankin: :0
Lyndsey Forager: see ya torly
DJ Jenns: hoooray! - thanks alot Torley absolute privelage finally meeting you :D
Wilhelmina Yoshikawa: Thank you Torley
Simon Kline: bye torley!
Shirley Marquez: the default settings were rather roggy, Lyndsey
Wolfie Rankin: night
Shirley Marquez: foggy
DJ Jenns sends Torley some bridies
Torley Linden: Bye for now, have lovely days! Thomas I have the SLURL right? :) Feel free to send me landmarks, I check out stuff in batches on the weekend when I relax... =o)
Torley Linden: So thrilled to see you all! Byeeeee. *waves and smiles*

Torley Linden: I'd better have a seat.
Al Sonic: *nods* great to be here.

Blogland Oh: :D
Taja Beatty: yes it is wonderful to see the happy torley
Squirrel Wood: Woof ^^
Wyn Galbraith: So can I download your piano music Torley, whole pieces?
Blogland Oh: exstatic really
Torley Linden: Oh, re: my piano music, yes, you sure can...
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Amon26 Yellowjacket, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Wyn Galbraith flies dual line stunt kites in RL and needs some good music to ballet to.
Torley Linden: OK, so on the left side of http://torley.com there's that music section... click the piano link.
Daedalus Young: my fav is solo piano 4
Torley Linden: Let me know if you can't find it.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: eekers, hiya all
Wyn Galbraith: I'm on firefox, that might be a problem?
Blogland Oh: what's with your whole new look going on?
Alexandra Rucker: More importantly, where did it come from? :)
Blogland Oh: yes firefox has a built in player
Alexandra Rucker: I like the wings
Blogland Oh: choose IE7 i used
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Jumpman Lane, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: thought i'd come back to seeya again torley ^_^
Blogland Oh: delete after if not happy
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Jumpman Lane, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Wyn Galbraith likes watermellon Furry.
Blogland Oh: so torley what's with the furry look?
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Saijanai Kuhn, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Torley Linden: I have many avatars. Sometimes I am a fur.
Al Sonic: Yep, Tollie looks positively scrumptious!
Squirrel Wood: It's genuine Torley? XD
Torley Linden: Today, I'm a collie named Tollie!
Wyn Galbraith starting a collection.
Blogland Oh: *reaches inside my screen to eat him*
Arkhanis Starostin: Poet n didn't know-it, eh? >_>
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Jumpman Lane, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: whats that tollie? yimmy's fallen down the well!?
Blogland Oh: haha
Carduccis Sticky Green: puff puff pass... the air is full of weed smoke
Torley Linden: Hahahaha that sounds like I could or should be a sitcom.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehehe yes
Amphithetre Andalso: Lassie jokes NEVER get old
Squirrel Wood: So what's todays topic of doom? XD
Wyn Galbraith: Love the shade of the hair, love green.
Blogland Oh: you've got the muic to go with it
Blogland Oh: :p
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Bridie Linden, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: a bit of a personal question torley: but how exactly has your hearing been affected in RL?
Torley Linden: Thanks, yeah, it's either pink or green for me...
Torley Linden: Heyhey Bridie!
Saijanai Kuhn: want a good tpic?
Squirrel Wood: Hello Alexa :)
Daedalus Young: hi Bridie
Blogland Oh: Torley what's your favourite song you have composed?
Wyn Galbraith: It's a day for Lindens, Meta's meeting had more Lindens then residents.
Alexa Linden: Hi All :D
Torley Linden: Amon26: Ah OK, so I have hyperacusis. Which means I can't listen to loud sounds for long. But I wear unobtrusive earplugs and I've grown more resilient over the years.
Torley Linden: Haha Wyn, that's so fun to hear.
Blogland Oh: Hi Alexa
Alexa Linden waves
Torley Linden: I don't have a fave song, they are like children, but I do have special moments that my children have done that I liked... if I were to go with melody, "The Snob Song" cracks me up.
Blogland Oh: ah that's what it is!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ooo thats got to be tough >.<
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Blogland Oh: I heard you mention it before on your video's
Saijanai Kuhn gots a great topic
Wyn Galbraith needs a piece that changes tempo.
Torley Linden: Life always has challenges but gotta keep going...
Torley Linden: "The Snob Song" can be downloaded from http://www.archive.org/downloadspopup.php?identifier=Torley_Wong_-_The_Final_Selection
Squirrel Wood: Ooo! Time for the multi seat ring XD
Wyn Galbraith will have to listen to them all then.
Blogland Oh: you really are inspiration in a box pal
Torley Linden: And it's kinda like a drum 'n' bass mixed with ice skater music mixed with crazy candyland stuff.
Torley Linden: Ha ha ha.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oooo
Wyn Galbraith: Oh my, so many!
Amphithetre Andalso: that's crak-licious :O
Blogland Oh: :d
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i dont really use anything other than a very old copy of FL studio to write music with
Torley Linden: It's a strange dilemma Squirrel, I love having people but this place is meant to be small! I appreciate your attention to our attendance, no doubt 'bout that tho. =)
Blogland Oh: :D grr typos!
Torley Linden: Ah I remember when FL Studio was known as... "Fruity Loops"!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe yep!
Torley Linden: VST plugins are the bomb...
Torley Linden: I used to play with so many of them.
Wyn Galbraith: Might have to remodel or build balconys
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Thomas Shikami, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Squirrel Wood: ^^
Torley Linden: I think there are far more VST plugins than Photoshop plugins.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: mine doesnt even have an arpegiator in it
Wyn Galbraith: I remember Fruity Loops, had a copy.
Torley Linden: How can you be without an arpeggiator? They RAWK!
Blogland Oh: VST? Inspire me
Al Sonic: Hi there Thomas!
Torley Linden: *holds down chords and feels the notes oscillate*
Thomas Shikami: hello
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe oh they do, but i have a good ear for hooks/riffs and stuff so its not too bad.. just tedious
Torley Linden: VST = Virtual Studio Instrument.
Amphithetre Andalso: I heard about that in highschool o_o
Thomas Shikami: I'm back
Torley Linden: Steinberg started them in... 1995 was it? Around that time.
Thomas Shikami: because of the parallel prim
Torley Linden: So as a part of making "computer music" more serious, VSTs got more popular as computer power increased.
Blogland Oh: around the same time of the windows 95 internet multimedia BOOOM
Saijanai Kuhn: what you think of Garageband?
Torley Linden: As a result, we are now able to model very simultaneous and complex sounds on a typical home computer, and even moreso on dedicated workstations.
Carduccis Sticky Green: puff puff pass... the air is full of weed smoke
Amon26 Yellowjacket: id love to play with garageband
Torley Linden: Garageband is a great example of dedicated virtual studio technology.
Wyn Galbraith: My son got pretty good with Fruity loops.
Blogland Oh: ah wow
Torley Linden: Apple again has shown how easy they can make something which is otherwise intimidating.
Daedalus Young: I do like Garageband, but I've never been able to actually do anythiing with it :P
Squirrel Wood: procedural textures. XD Just like music you need a sense for them. ^^
Torley Linden: Garageband isn't as powerful as, say, Apple Logic, but it's entry-level and fine for what it is.
Saijanai Kuhn: speaking of ease-of-use. Have you ever logged into Orientation Island and lurked?
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Thomas Shikami, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i came across a few editable versions of new nin songs in garage band format. made me actually think about trying to buy a mac even though i had no way to afford one
Torley Linden: Yes, procedural textures are another domain of interest... it cracks me up watching Perlin noise formations, they make great clouds (see: WindLight).
Saijanai Kuhn: check out Quartz Composer, Torely
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oo someone's using procedural textures?
Wyn Galbraith only recently turned on shine and bump. See SL in a whole new light.
Torley Linden: I like Core Video realtime effects... I haven't used Quartz Composer yet. Intriguing.
Torley Linden: Yes sooo true Wyn!
Torley Linden: Robots in SL look so dang flat without the shine.
Saijanai Kuhn: QC allows one to point and click program the Video Card
Wyn Galbraith: Was wonderful, like suddenly being able to see. I mean SL is wonderful without them.
Amphithetre Andalso: I'm excited about seeing reflective water
Blogland Oh: amazing, I've been thinking of spending £300 on a 84 or 70 odd key keyboard after watching you, I mean movies, graphics it's all good mbt when you can compose music through your computer now that's something else
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hmm im not too familiar with videocard stuff.. but ive caught the youtube bug and ive been using windows movie maker
Blogland Oh: something about a grand piano lol
Amon26 Yellowjacket: agreed blogland
Blogland Oh: :D
Torley Linden: Yes, reflective water is a great achievement. You can customize it, depending on your graphics card's power... so it reflects EVERYTHING, or just static objects. (E.g., not avatars.)
Torley Linden: Windows Movie Maker is fun... the important thing is to get started and stick with it, and learn more.
Amphithetre Andalso: That's got me drooling now
Squirrel Wood: http://www.xoxide.com/lib/xoxide/das-keyboard-ii-2.jpg
Torley Linden: I have a Geforce 7800 GT so I have it set to "Everything", it's a fair mid-range card, getting old in today's world of 8800GTXs tho... ;) but that's how tech is!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: im working on a film called "Twitch: cryptozooligist" right now. about a victorian/steampunk era monster hunter.
Saijanai Kuhn: realtime video filtering: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1324451781263529820&q=quartz+composer&total=91&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1
Blogland Oh: I have one of those ^_^
Blogland Oh: not boasting!
Torley Linden: Amon26: That sounds pretty rich, you crafting a unique mythology for it, sort of a "story bible"?
Blogland Oh: but I do love it!
Torley Linden: Haha Das Keyboard!
Blogland Oh: first pc I built
Torley Linden: Who mentioned that the other day... someone did...
Bridie Linden: Back in a sec
Torley Linden: Saijanai: I'll clip that link to watch soon!
Torley Linden: Kk Bridie!
Carduccis Sticky Green: puff puff pass... the air is full of weed smoke
Torley Linden: Oh my... who's... tokin'?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i love trying to weave universes that are so much larger than the stories that take place in them. so viewers kind of see something and can go 'what is that!?" then i can give tem another peek of it from a totally different angle later on
Torley Linden: :O
Torley Linden: Amon26, yes, that's so true. Tell me, who are your fave writers?
You have offered a calling card to Alexandra Rucker
Celierra Darling waves to Torley :)
Your calling card was accepted.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hmmm, well i like Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), Chuck Palahaniuk, Ray Bradbury, Quentin Tarantino,
Torley Linden waves to Celierra! Oh nice to see you inworld!
Hank Rucker: I have an issue. I'm at the $125/month level, and my bank is denying the payments to GlobalCollect every month. It was fine before SL switched to them. I worked my way up the food chain, and found out that it is because GlobalCollect is on VISA's "suspect vendor" list. Is there any chance we could get a processor based in the US for folks with US accounts? It's getting tedious to have to spend a half-hour talking to the fraud department every month.
Torley Linden: Amon26: That's a pretty cool mix.
Blogland Oh: ;)
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i like to think so ^,,^
Wyn Galbraith: Asimov, Burroughs (Martian series and Moon series, Bradbury, all the one around Asimov's time.
Wyn Galbraith: Ellison
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oh and i cant forget Phillip K. Dick
Torley Linden: Hank, sorry I'm not sure about that, something best to ask Support/Billing about.
Torley Linden: Philip K. Dick is FREAKIN' BRILLIANT.
Wyn Galbraith: Nope, can't forget him.
Celierra Darling: Nice to see you too, Torley! :)
Torley Linden: He's my top author for wanting to read more of his work, but I know his themes are so influential.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i picked up a book called Valis a month ago, and it got too far into my head too quick so i had to put it down
Wyn Galbraith: I'm not into any of the new writers, haven't had time to really read.
Hank Rucker: Aha. I have. Alex thought I should mention it here. Thanks anyway.
Torley Linden: Thomas thanks for rezzing that shape too.
Amphithetre Andalso: Willaim Gibson, and Philip K. are both very high on my list
Torley Linden: NP.
Torley Linden: I like Neal Stephenson a lot too in terms of creating worlds... very rich tapestry.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: I havent had much of a chance to read anything by william gibson yet
Torley Linden: I like the Dickian concepts of "What is real?"
Wyn Galbraith currently listening to Princess of Mars from Audible.
Free Radar HUD v1.1 by Crystal Gadgets
Torley Linden: Those can really do your head in... and many of his themes are infused with such confusing iconography in various modes and forms.
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: "Why do I have my fingers in this monkey's ears?" -- Kate
Wyn Galbraith: Gibson wrote the cyberpunk stuff and didn't even own a computer.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: yeah, some of the subjects hit too close to home
Amon26 Yellowjacket: in valis, that is
Wyn Galbraith: Hey typed on a typewriter.
Amphithetre Andalso: I know! <3
Torley Linden: Wyn: That's how the legend goes.
Torley Linden: Hey, isn't William Gibson coming to Second Life?
Torley Linden: I read that in New World Notes.
Amphithetre Andalso: I get gibson's feed through my blog
Amphithetre Andalso: Yeah, so I hear >_>
Amon26 Yellowjacket: that would be fun
Wyn Galbraith: Autodesk actually made a Cyberspace Studio package years and years go.
Amphithetre Andalso: full circle, in a way
Wyn Galbraith: *ago.
Torley Linden: William Gibson lives in Canada I think... Vancouver?
Amphithetre Andalso: Ya
Wyn Galbraith: That's where I first walked through a VR, was all wireframe and a demo.
Torley Linden: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2007/07/william-gibson-.html
Amon26 Yellowjacket: do they have internet in canada yet!? o.o *poking fun!*
Torley Linden: Wyn: Wow... I used to play with early VRML stuff. That is the basis for my current experiences.
Torley Linden: Ha ha, yes we have broadband even in some of the boonies up here in Canuckland.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i remember using a program called the palace
Torley Linden: It isn't very fast at times, but it's good enough for the moose, eh?
Wyn Galbraith: Autodesk dropped that and the Xanadu project.
Carduccis Sticky Green: puff puff pass... the air is full of weed smoke
Jumpman Lane: oh sorry that's me
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... JayR Cela, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: and always wanting it to be more like this
Amphithetre Andalso: !
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... JayR Cela, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Jumpman Lane: i always forget it is attached
Amphithetre Andalso: palace. Oh man. Memories of time wasted
Torley Linden: I used The Palace too, that 2D graphical chat...
Torley Linden: Ha ha ha!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehehe
Blogland Oh: haha!
Blogland Oh: NO way!
Torley Linden: I had the silliest smiley face (and yes, predictable what color it was).
Amon26 Yellowjacket: all the sk8er avs, and chrono trigger sprites
Amphithetre Andalso: man
Torley Linden: Haha Chrono Trigger sprites crack me up...
Thomas Shikami: hehe
Torley Linden: I like Magus, but that's just me.
Torley Linden: :)
Wyn Galbraith: Gibson's in SL?
Amphithetre Andalso: Palace is still around, I played with it a few months ago
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i think i tried to make a sprite of lil me from a luca sprite way back then
Torley Linden: Wyn: Gibson is a cyberpunk region but apparently the author will appear in SL on Aug. 2.
Blogland Oh: o.O
Wyn Galbraith guesses he has a computer now.
Amphithetre Andalso: There's a Gibson sim
Torley Linden: I'm amazed how many old things are still with us -- well, IRC lives on...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hangon, i got to threaten itunes at gunpoint for a second.
Wyn Galbraith: I'd love to meet him
Torley Linden: The Palace had funny sounds too as I recall.
Thomas Shikami: so will secondlife
Torley Linden: I was also on *gasp* America Online!
Torley Linden: And before that, Q-Link on Commodore 64... but I didn't try Habitat.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: did you remember prodigy??
Torley Linden: Habitat is like the distant grandfather to Second Life.
Alexandra Rucker: how about GEnie
Wyn Galbraith: Rogue
Torley Linden: I do remember Prodigy, and Compuserve, and GEnie...
Torley Linden: Ha ha ha!
Torley Linden: Rogue, like the game?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hahaha
Alexandra Rucker: blast from the past :)
Blogland Oh: hardcore commmodore 64
Al Sonic: Habitat. 'Twas an interesting thing to read about. Never heard about it 'til so recently.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i should try and re-install windows 3.1 on my machine
Blogland Oh: my granddad used to let me play on those when I was a kid
Wyn Galbraith: Yes
Wyn Galbraith: On Unix.
Torley Linden: I played Rogue, also... Nethack... it cracked me up so much when some dude said, "Diablo is just a 3D Nethack!"
Wyn Galbraith has a copy for CPM
Daedalus Young: will it finally run smooth now?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hahaha
Torley Linden: Haha you can prolly try emulating some of the older stuff...
Torley Linden: I use DOSbox, works well for DOS games.
Daedalus Young: yes, I have that too
Wyn Galbraith: One company I worked for had to put a lock on rogue cause the programmers were playing instead of programming.
Torley Linden: On YouTube they have all these vids of people playing old video games...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i got wolfenstein 3d to work in dosbox i think. thats about it tho
Torley Linden: Haha Wyn! I'm not surprised.
Daedalus Young: some are 1000x too fast though
Wyn Galbraith still loves textbased games.
Torley Linden: I like Zork too, to a certain extent.
Torley Linden: I played many of those Infocom games...
Daedalus Young: oh, I actually uploaded 2 old game videos to youtube
Thomas Shikami: Uhm
Thomas Shikami: I have zork in my inventory
Torley Linden: Oh, funniest thing, Q Linden, one of our new devs, he did his company intro email like an Infocom game, it was so profound.
Torley Linden: Daedalus: Which ones?
Wyn Galbraith: I have a CD full of Infocom games somewhere.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ok im back
Alexandra Rucker: Q or Qarl?
Torley Linden: Q, different.
Alexandra Rucker: ok
Thomas Shikami: In my SL inventory
Daedalus Young: oh, MSX games, Konami Tennis and Konami Magical Tree
Alexandra Rucker: wow, didn't know there was just a Q linden :)
Torley Linden: :D
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe, i want to get an old vectrex machine
Thomas Shikami: MSX :p~
Torley Linden: Vectrex, ahhh vector graphic games...
Thomas Shikami: Kings Quest
Amphithetre Andalso: star trek flashbacks
Torley Linden: I have so many Konami classics I enjoyed...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: just to play asteroids with
Torley Linden: GRADIUS!
Daedalus Young: still use my MSX often
Al Sonic: The confusing part there is that Qarl is located in the Q sim...
JayR Cela: Vextrex / wow there is a blast from the past / LOL
Torley Linden: I liked the early King's Quest series too.
Daedalus Young: it has a great sound addition
Torley Linden: Al: True true, what a puzzle-ation.
Arkhanis Starostin hides his tape copy of Elite. vector whut? >_>
Alexandra Rucker: hehehe, that's part of why I got confused :) but only part...
Wyn Galbraith has a CP/M system in storage with two 8" floppy drives and one 14" single platter harddrive
Daedalus Young: you can use it as a sort of synth now
Amphithetre Andalso: wow, that huge maze is Quarl's fault?
Torley Linden: Haha, Elite was great too, all those worlds to explore.
Torley Linden: It was pretty vast.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hmm, its looking like duty calls for me again, i gota come back next friday to spend more time hanging out with everyone
Thomas Shikami: I just haven't programmed the infocom interpreter in LSL yet, else we could play Zork her3
Torley Linden: I liked Dungeon Master...
Torley Linden: OK Amon26, take care!
Arkhanis Starostin: Elite, Frontier, First Encounters. Got 'em all :)
Blogland Oh: I can't see how you people found the time to play and experiment
Wyn Galbraith played Kings Quest and Ultima.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: you too torley hon ^,^ thanks for talking
Torley Linden: I wonder Thomas, that'd be fun... I know CrystalShard Foo once did a copy of the Zork mailbox.
Torley Linden: With the leaflet... the freakin' leaflet!
Torley Linden: You're welcome!
Torley Linden: A GRUE HAS EATEN YOU.
Torley Linden: That was badass.
Thomas Shikami: btw
Wyn Galbraith is an Ultima Dragon, Elwyndas Dragon.
Torley Linden: Ooooh.
Thomas Shikami: do you see my parallel prim?
JayR Cela: anyone remember ALternate Reality by Phillip Price for the old Atari 800 and commodore 64
Torley Linden: I do Thomas!
Torley Linden: I never played that JayR.
Torley Linden: What was that all about?
Al Sonic: Yeah. I'm familiar with the twist trick.
JayR Cela: Hi Torley
Torley Linden: The name intrigues me, of course.
Wyn Galbraith has a vague memory of such.
Thomas Shikami gave you Parallelogram.
JayR Cela: Alternate Reality was one of the early RPG's
Blogland Oh: (played alot of games but can't remember their names)
JayR Cela: that was visual as opposed to text
Torley Linden: I also remember, Oregon Trail.
Wyn Galbraith loves Myst too.
Torley Linden: Myst is CLASSIC.
Thomas Shikami: Myst!
Torley Linden: One of my alltime faves because of what it instilled in me.
Thomas Shikami: there's an Uru Live sim here
Thomas Shikami: in SL
Wyn Galbraith: Myst series are a work of art. I worked with one of the programmers from RIven.
Torley Linden: Yeah I dig that region Thomas! I made a panorama of it.
Thomas Shikami: somehow part of Myst series
Torley Linden: Myst Online Uru in Second Life - http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/538101429/
JayR Cela: hey I still have one of the greatest flop consoles of all time / The 3DO
Wyn Galbraith: Really? I haven't played Uru yet, it's here, still shrinkwrapped, but now I have time I can't find it.
Blogland Oh: HAHA!
Torley Linden: JayR: I remember the 3DO!
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Amphithetre Andalso: Oh man
Blogland Oh: I had one too!
Torley Linden: Hahah! Trip... what was his name...
Amphithetre Andalso: I played that all the time in my first computer class
JayR Cela: and I still have all the Games
Al Sonic: Awkwardly I only have memories of being a little kid trying to find his way through the Myst game and failing.
JayR Cela: yeay 3DO was created by Trip Hawkins
Blogland Oh: did anyone find if they played the 3do for too long it would make them feel sick?
Blogland Oh: red eye big time?
Torley Linden: Trip Hawkins, that's it!
Wyn Galbraith: No, but Doom would do that to me
Amphithetre Andalso grouches, is swamped with lag
Torley Linden: Hmmm Blogland, I don't remember that with the 3DO, but I did with the Virtual Boy.
Blogland Oh: yes!!
Wyn Galbraith: Motion sickness, something I don't have in RL much.
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/11399
Blogland Oh: I remember some weird game called soccer kid
Torley Linden: I have this gorgeous old book, it's outdated, but it's about the history of interactive entertainment.
Daedalus Young: ohh, cool
JayR Cela: yeah Trip Hawkins was going to revolutionize the gameing world
JayR Cela: LOL
Torley Linden: The book came with a CD-ROM and 3D glasses.
Blogland Oh: do you get alot of books torley?
Torley Linden: Blogland: Not really, only once in awhile.
Torley Linden: The last book I bought was Revolutionary Wealth by Alvin + Heidi Toffler.
Torley Linden: Must-read for futurist fans.
Wyn Galbraith: I use to, now I get audible books so I can listen while driving or doing other must do things.
Torley Linden: About the importance of knowledge and its role in transforming our informatin-based society.
Blogland Oh: have you ever been into your programming?
Torley Linden: *information
Torley Linden: Books on tape!
JayR Cela: the 3do machine its self was at the time quite advanced / but the Games offered were not all that good
Torley Linden: Blogland: Which programming?
Leyla Firefly gave you Snapshot.
Wyn Galbraith: Books in files more like ;)
Blogland Oh: well depends, inspire me tell me your history if you could
Blogland Oh: :D
Torley Linden: Haha Wyn. :)
Blogland Oh: what did you start on?
Torley Linden: I remember seeing sticker shock with 3DO, US$700.
Wyn Galbraith loves then and her little Zen.
Wyn Galbraith: *them
Torley Linden: Blogland: I haven't really programmed a lot in computer languages but musically I began with sequencers like Musicshop.
Torley Linden: I wish I had more time to learn LSL tho.
Blogland Oh: aha!!
Torley Linden: My technical background is mainly in music.
Blogland Oh: so you are guilty of that too!!
Wyn Galbraith: I once thought I would write a music program in BASIC.
Blogland Oh: :D
Torley Linden: Electronic music. Heh heh.
Blogland Oh: ;)
Wyn Galbraith: Then Rowland came out with theirs and I said why bother ;)
Torley Linden: Rowland? Roland?
Blogland Oh: I love it, your heaven raiser im addicted to lately
JayR Cela: I still use my 3DO sometimes I beleave I have most of the titls ever produced for it the best one I can remember was an Arena Fighrer named BALLZ
JayR Cela: I still play that game
Torley Linden: Thanks Blogland, "Heavenraiser" was nicely used by Doc Boffin for his Combat Cards trailer in SL... it was inspired by horror movies.
Amphithetre Andalso wonders which movies those were
Torley Linden: But I wanted to make sort of an uplifting side of it. I used those chimes, and played through a breath controller to get the weird echo-flute effects.
Torley Linden: Ha ha Amphithetre, for one, Hellraiser.
Amphithetre Andalso: ;)
Torley Linden: I laughed so hard when I saw some Lament Configuration cubes in Second Life.
JayR Cela: Alone in the Dark was pretty Kool
Torley Linden: I saw a transforming one once too, that was pretty awesome.
Amphithetre Andalso: Isn't pinhead like a sex idol in japan?
Torley Linden: Amphithetre: He may be. Doug Bradley is such a great actor.
Blogland Oh: lol wtf?
Torley Linden: Alone in the Dark was a childhood fave of mine too...
Amphithetre Andalso: Yeah
Torley Linden: Alone in the Dark inspired Resident Evil. :)
Saijanai Kuhn: Bungie rulez
Torley Linden: The 3D characters walking around 2D backgrounds.
Saijanai Kuhn: or did until they went PC
Torley Linden: Bungie? Oh totally, Marathon...
Blogland Oh: resident evil now you're talking!!
Amphithetre Andalso: Noo, Silent Hill
Wyn Galbraith: Isn't that what's sitting on Pathfinder's desk?
JayR Cela: heck I still play the origional Zelda useing an emulator named Zelda Classic
Torley Linden: I remember when they were on Mac... and then it was very surprising, "Marathon 2's coming out for Windows"... and later "We've been bought by Microsoft!"
Amphithetre Andalso: It is!
Torley Linden: Wyn: What's sitting on Path's desk?
Saijanai Kuhn: bah. Marathon was so far ahead of its time that no-one has caught up yet
Wyn Galbraith: One of those cubes.
Torley Linden: I haven't seen Path's desk in awhile.
Torley Linden: Marathon was amazing with its weapon design...
Wyn Galbraith got sucked into it.
Torley Linden: anyone who played it can attest to the quality of the fusion pistol.
Amphithetre Andalso: I tried to, nothing happened
JayR Cela: and how about Golden Axe on the Gennesis
Torley Linden: Yeah, Golden Axe, I LIKED BEATING UP DWARVES FOR PORTIONS.
Torley Linden: Er, POTIONS.
Torley Linden: <.<
Blogland Oh: lol
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
JayR Cela: Golden axe was so kool
Squirrel Wood: Torley.. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1839 ^^
Torley Linden: A lot of these sorts of things, it trips me out when I see classic video game-ish stuff in Second Life.
Saijanai Kuhn: some games DO have hobbit protions at least
Torley Linden: Squirrel thanks! *makes a note*
JayR Cela: anyone remember Styrder for the Gennises
Torley Linden: Stryder was great too, the whole plotline...
Torley Linden: And how you could do those fancy jumps...
Torley Linden: Strider I think it was spelled.
Blogland Oh: the link broke for me
Saijanai Kuhn: yep I've been having that also
Al Sonic: Yep... so I just love how that Sonic Freaks club is starting to look now.
Torley Linden: Did everyone hear they're making a game with Mario and Sonic in it?
Torley Linden: For the Olympics?
Al Sonic: Truly strange concept.
Al Sonic: At least in how they word it.
Amphithetre Andalso: ouch
Torley Linden: BTW if anyone wants to see a cool video game-ish place, go here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/842319400/
Jackio Asano: hii
JayR Cela: I actually came so close to beating Golden Axe one time and a RL thunder Storm created a power outage / I was fit to be tied up and put into a straight jacket
Torley Linden: Hi Jackio!
Jackio Asano: hello torley
Torley Linden: JayR: Agrhrhr awful timing.
Al Sonic: I'm hoping they at least give it a catchy name.
Blogland Oh: haha that's rude it looks like mario
Blogland Oh: but 3d
Torley Linden: Apparently there's a new Pac-man: Championship Edition out too.
Torley Linden: Gameplay is similar to the classic version.
Taja Beatty: Jackio!
Jackio Asano: hi
Blogland Oh: who would have thought encouraging kids to eat mushrooms and jump on turtles would be encouraged
Torley Linden: I like any game where you collect fruits...
Thomas Shikami: does it crash when playing through?
Blogland Oh: :p
Blogland Oh: hehe
Simon Kline: lol blog
Torley Linden: Haha Blogland, yeah, speak of the effects on our children!
Al Sonic: I saw that mode... looked fun.
Simon Kline: there should be one that collects watermelons
Taja Beatty plays Guild wars and Wow and SimCity
Wyn Galbraith introduced her children to gaming.
Torley Linden: Simon: Imagine my eyes when I was playing Bubble Bobble and saw this GIANT WATERMELON fall from the sky.
Wyn Galbraith: Even RP'd with them in some textbased MU*s.
Blogland Oh: LOL!!
Torley Linden: Wyn: Sounds like you are a cool Mom!
Al Sonic: XD
Simon Kline: lololl i cn imagine!!
JayR Cela: jeeze o peetes I have a CD laying around here somewhere with a genesis and nintendo emelulator and about 50 games for each
Thomas Shikami: watermelons
Thomas Shikami: should buy one
Torley Linden: Wow...
Wyn Galbraith smiles, "Thanks. Bad when a player says, 'you're older than my mom!'.
Torley Linden: Mmmm I am eating watermelon. I have eaten many this summer and I intend to consume many more.
Torley Linden: Wyn: Awwwe!
Thomas Shikami: you are what you eat
Amphithetre Andalso is sad she hasn't had watermelon in a long time
Daedalus Young: we had Galia melons last week
Arkhanis Starostin shall fetch some? >_>
Daedalus Young: not quite the same
Amphithetre Andalso: Pls

Wyn Galbraith mouths Meeeeloooon
Thomas Shikami: I have chop sticks
Thomas Shikami: for NEDM
Simon Kline: i have a friend called Suey
Torley Linden: What's NEDM?
sculpt test: Blå bär rööda
Arkhanis Starostin: Reminds me of Hong-Kong-Phooey
Amphithetre Andalso: D:
Thomas Shikami: :o
Al Sonic: Well... it's a YTMND fad.
Torley Linden: Haha, Hong-Kong-Phooey, that dirty dog.
Wyn Galbraith: Can't eat watermelon with chopsticks.
Thomas Shikami: not even doom music
Saijanai Kuhn: jira is down ATM
Torley Linden: I like a lot of YTMND stuff but I haven't seen NEDM.
Wyn Galbraith: WEll you can try.
Arkhanis Starostin: Mild-mannered janitor, thankyou :o
Amphithetre Andalso: NEDM ...scary
Taja Beatty: oh I used to watch that...

Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Squirrel Wood: Ha! This bug is reproducable ^^
Torley Linden: There was a banner announcing the downtime, and of course, you can't see the banner when the site is down.
JayR Cela: darn it I crashed
Daedalus Young: I was just saying that, but the crash ate my chat
Wyn Galbraith: Sent me homeish.
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Alexandra Rucker, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Alexandra Rucker, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Torley Linden: Oh well that's good to know Squirrel.
Blogland Oh: did you get shot out too Torley?
Daedalus Young: jira and wiki had a maintenance message on it today
Thomas Shikami: this was odd
Daedalus Young: until 4pm
Torley Linden: Blogland: Sure did.
Thomas Shikami: has the sim crashed?
Blogland Oh: nooooooooooooo
Blogland Oh: lol!!
Torley Linden: Yes, Grasmere burped, it's brought us back.
Alexandra Rucker: btw, torley, do you know your welcome mat gives out the notecard twice? :)
Blogland Oh: and I sent you an IM
Torley Linden: WindLight guys joked that... when we have rolling restart... there should be thunder and lightning...
Al Sonic: So, Torley there's a quick issue I decided to bring up after Dalarian Dyrssen agreed... as nice as Zuzi Martinez's guide is, it's very outdated and thus a bit tricky to find info in so...
JayR Cela: http://zeldaclassic.com/ is the download site for the old Zela Classic game / it still is fun
Blogland Oh: evil
Daedalus Young: that would be cool
Torley Linden: Alexandra: I saw the message but it should only do it on first collision, I wish it could be smarter to not give it again if you've already got it.
Torley Linden: Thanks for the heads-up.
Thomas Shikami: I have a system, that can make objects give out notecards to each avatar once in life
Daedalus Young: and when the storm really starts kicking in, the region goes down
Torley Linden: Al: Which issue?
Alexandra Rucker: there's a script with a timer option, want me to pry that apart and send it to you later?
Al Sonic: The tiny prims thread.
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Al Sonic: The old outdated one is stickied...
Torley Linden: Alexandra: Please do! I haven't really explored what can be done with notecard givers.
Alexandra Rucker: Ok, no problem... I'll have that off to you tonight :)
Simon Kline: lol lightning hits the sim's power station
Simon Kline: before the region restarts
Torley Linden: Standing in a power station is weird.
Torley Linden: Haha, yeah, it's like you definitely know when a region's going down... weather communicates emotions.
Daedalus Young: one giant blinding bolt of lightning and just at that moment
Torley Linden: Or rather, facilitates it... like tears in r ain!
Daedalus Young: "you have been logged out!"
Torley Linden: Haha, YOUR AVATAR IS CRISPY.
Al Sonic: I've plainly linked to the old one in my new one for anyone who'd like to look back to the old discussion.
Wyn Galbraith: I love the idea of thunder and lightening Torley.
Torley Linden: Al: Ah, so what do you wish done?
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Wyn Galbraith: Rolling restarts should look like a storm rolling in, they give you what five minute warning?
Blogland Oh: I was born in a thunderstorm
JayR Cela: heck I was krispy 20 years ago from Vidie Game overload / LOL
Torley Linden: Wyn: Yeah something like that, two minute warning.
Blogland Oh: bosh... feel the hairs stick up on the back of your neck
Al Sonic: So... quoting Dalarian, "Now pretty please dear lindens unstick and restick!"
Torley Linden: "Bosh" is a word I need to use more.
Wyn Galbraith loves thunderstorms, "Don't have many in the Bay Area."
Torley Linden: Al: Unstick old one, restick new one?
Al Sonic: Yes, please?
Torley Linden: Al: What's URL of new forum thread? I'll make a note.
Daedalus Young: Thunder and Lightning I tell you it's frightening It's thunder and lightning And you're in control
Al Sonic: Mhm.
Wyn Galbraith: Can windlight really do that?
Daedalus Young: Chi Coltrane
Al Sonic: http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=191989
Torley Linden: WindLight currently can't but future generations might be able to.
Torley Linden: Thanks Al. I'll have a look later.
Bridie Linden smiles
Torley Linden: Bridie and I are so excited about it. =D
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
JayR Cela: what exactly is WindLight supposed to do for SL as far as Game Play is concearned
Wyn Galbraith: That's like at safeway before they water the veggies, lightening flashes and thunder rolls.
Torley Linden: By the way, on the topic of WindLight... we're in the planning phases of making share-able assets, e.g., you can trade sky settings like other inventory types. Any specific wishes or feature requests or needs you have for that?
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Amphithetre Andalso, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
Welcome Mat: Hello and YAYZERAMA... Amphithetre Andalso, welcome to Watermelinden Land in the Linden Village!
JayR Cela: Ahhh
Wyn Galbraith: Not sure what you mean.
Torley Linden: OK — I'll explain further.
Torley Linden: Content creation examples...
Torley Linden: like, you should be able to embed a sky into a notecard...
Wyn Galbraith: Interesting idea.
Torley Linden: So you can give it out easily with accompanying explanation.
Torley Linden: Just like you can embed fully-permissive clothes or objects right now.
Celierra Darling: Oooh, sounds neat... Same sort of previewing interface, I guess?
Al Sonic: Yep, they'll be exchangeable just like customized avatar shapes.
Torley Linden: Yes Al, that's the idea...
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
JayR Cela: oh wow that sound kool
Bridie Linden nods
Daedalus Young: oh, I'd like embedded textures in notecards to be thumbnails
Wyn Galbraith likes it.
Torley Linden: And I reckon some people who make clothes or houses or whatever may create custom skies that compliment their look well. After all, sky settings have such a dramatic effect on how you see the world.
Wyn Galbraith: That is true.
Torley Linden: So that's one example of how it might be used creatively.
Al Sonic: Yeah... especially because the sky really does light the world here.
Torley Linden: We're studying various use cases. E.g., "Resident needs to be able to put skies in boxes like other inventory asset types."
Daedalus Young: that's quite natural
Torley Linden: There's some other context (and pictures of WindLight if you're not familiar) @ http://torley.com/windlight-wonders-bleep-yeah
Daedalus Young: those are great shots
Blogland Oh: yes the pictures of windlight I saw earlier
Amphithetre Andalso: Nimble coming to second life too?
Blogland Oh: that was FANTASTIC
Daedalus Young: saw them on flickr
JayR Cela: sound as if LL is restarting to embrace the creative community again with the WindLight Project
Al Sonic: Someday it is.
Amphithetre Andalso: Oboyoboy
Blogland Oh: the composition in light it was almost breathtaking
Torley Linden: I hope that Residents will surpass those photos of course, I was just noodling around... setting the tone for greatness to come... but gotta set a good example.
Wyn Galbraith: One step at a time, first voice and then the next.
Torley Linden: Amphithetre: Yes, we hope — Nimble is for a future phase.
Torley Linden: JayR: We're most certainly delighted to.
Wyn Galbraith gets so excited.
Amphithetre Andalso: I can wait ^_^
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: I remember stepping into WindLight the first time as my panda av with Bridie...
Alexandra Rucker gave you Auto-Notecarder (50).
JayR Cela: Voice / I need a Voice Morph /I wish they would build that INTO SL
Torley Linden: All these things become memories.
Torley Linden: JayR: Have you tried stuff like MorphVox?
Alexandra Rucker gave you Auto-Notecarder (50).
Al Sonic: Yeah I understand the feeling JayR.
Daedalus Young: nothing can morph my accent out :/
Torley Linden: I understand concerns about "My RL voice doesn't match my avatar's intended voice"... that applies to me too most of the time.
JayR Cela: Torley I have tried but is does not really sound female
Amphithetre Andalso: I want to remain anonymous
Torley Linden: *nod* I haven't really found an easy desktop solution to make me sound convincingly female either.
Al Sonic: Funny they don't actually even let us modify our text, to make it italic or whatever.
Alexandra Rucker: sometimes it's "people's ears would bleed if they heard my RL squeaking" *grins*
Wyn Galbraith tends to chuckle a lot.
Torley Linden: Al: I like rich text too.
Arkhanis Starostin: But y'have such a nice accent Amphi! ;p
Torley Linden: I have speech impediments but I don't let that hold me back.
Amphithetre Andalso: Sh!
Daedalus Young: I'd like a Stephen Hawking computer doing my talking
Celierra Darling: I wish Voice was implemented as text-to-speech/speech-to-text, so we could have voice assets :P
Torley Linden: Haha Daedalus, there's an idea...
Blogland Oh: too right!
Wyn Galbraith: Hawkings is so great.
Al Sonic: I don't think I speak nearly so well IRL as I do in text myself.
Daedalus Young: genius he is
JayR Cela: personally I just want to be able to sound like a woman this Voice thing is going to be a trip
Alexandra Rucker: Ooo, text to speech, that would be great for deaf people talking to a bunch of voice users :0
Torley Linden: I had an idea of holding a screen projecting the RL me into SL... or something... like an extended typing overrider, but for voice gestures.
JayR Cela: I dont like it
Torley Linden: I think problems can create desperation, desire, and passion for solutions, so some people may be more eager to come up with convincing voice-morph solutions when Voice is used more widespread...
Torley Linden: there is no shortage of a market there, I think.
Torley Linden: Hawking is such an inspiration. Despite all the blows he's been dealt, he's contributed to humanity so much.
sculpt test: Blå bär rööda
Blogland Oh: really?
Torley Linden: And have you all seen MC Hawking? Hehe.
Blogland Oh: I never looked into his work much
Blogland Oh: HAHA YES!
Amphithetre Andalso: MC Hawking? Oh my
Saijanai Kuhn: hmmmm
Blogland Oh: well heard
Wyn Galbraith: Just knowing one can be active when one cannot move. I wonder if he could come into SL.
Squirrel Wood: MorphVOX <= Voice Morphing software. you can sound like anything with it. even barking dogs if you desire ^^
Celierra Darling: Oh yeah, I heard of that :P
Torley Linden: Advancing understanding of science helps us comprehend our world better.
Saijanai Kuhn: anyone besides me get kicked off the sim?
Torley Linden: Saijanai, all of us.
Torley Linden: :)
Wyn Galbraith: Everyone Sai.
Torley Linden: Good to see you back, heh.
Saijanai Kuhn: jira and wiki are down...
Amphithetre Andalso: I did D:
Torley Linden: I know there are some avatars with wheelchairs in SL...
Celierra Darling: When'd that happen? o.o I crashed...
Arkhanis Starostin: And being such an incredible example of personal drive despite ills. If that doesn't inspire you, nothing will ;p
Wyn Galbraith: I saw the tape on Wheelers.
Torley Linden: but when we think of people who are really in wheelchairs who come in SL, I've met a few, and what I've noticed in common is they feel vicarious through their avatars, they love to dance.
Wyn Galbraith: But Hawkins is really chair bound, more so than some.
Wyn Galbraith would love to see him in SL.
Torley Linden: Arkhanis: Totally! It was very sad when I read he used to like to row... and then his condition affected his mobility and degenerated his ability to do that...
Amphithetre Andalso: Me too
Wyn Galbraith: It would be amazing to see what avatar he came up with
Laetizia Coronet: I see the usual suspects lined up again ;)
Torley Linden: Yeah, Wyn, I wonder what he'd choose.
Torley Linden: I'd say a floating black hole but that might be too obvious.
Laetizia Coronet: hi all
Blogland Oh: a wheelchair rocket man lol
Torley Linden: Hehe Laetizia, this place could be a bar. ;)
Arkhanis Starostin: The lil' docu-drama movie they did of his story moved me nearly to tears. Nearly ;p
Amphithetre Andalso: i was going to say 'bloack hole' too
Wyn Galbraith: One of my son's avatar looks like him in RL.
Laetizia Coronet: lol Tor, there is almost always osmeone here
Torley Linden: Wheelchair rocket man? Wheelchair dudes with power remind me of The End from Metal Gear solid, formidable boss.
Amphithetre Andalso: *black
Torley Linden: Hahah Laetizia.
JayR Cela: Oh speaking of Wheelchairs my SL partner was born with SpinoPhelia / something or other / she loves to go surfing / skiing / danceing / walking / you name it / SL is the best therapy in the world for her
Torley Linden: Aww JayR, that is really so amazing to hear.
Torley Linden: I love how we can show new strengths in Second Life despite, insecurities we may have.
Wyn Galbraith can't dance in RL, but can dance here perfectly ;)
Celierra Darling: I saw the video of Hawkins in the zero-grav simulation plane... Pretty amazing, he looked so amazingly happy.
JayR Cela: Torley it is Amazeing
Wyn Galbraith: I saw that.
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
Bridie Linden: I gotta scoot!
Blogland Oh: insecurity pfft, life's too short for that ;)
Torley Linden: I have been compelled to do things offline because I did them in SL first.
Torley Linden: Blogland: That's a great attitude.
Wyn Galbraith: I think he got 8 tries.
Torley Linden: Thanks for coming Bridie!
Bridie Linden: cya!
Torley Linden: Take care!
Al Sonic: *nods* Seeya Bridie!
Daedalus Young: bye Bri
Blogland Oh: Bye Bridie!
Wyn Galbraith: Bye bye Bridie.
Celierra Darling waves to Bridie
Torley Linden: I wonder what it feels like to be in zero-grav...
Wyn Galbraith: B-bye!!! :D
Bridie Linden: Hey, I'm planning on starting my office hours next week
Torley Linden: Oh yeah, Bridie, tell us all about them! :D
Wyn Galbraith: Don't overlap!
Bridie Linden: Weds @ 3pm Linden time
Laetizia Coronet: Bridie, post them in Google
Alexandra Rucker: Yayy!! More office hours!
Torley Linden: Noone else is doing theirs on Wednesday I think!
Wyn Galbraith: Ah that's Blue's time.
Bridie Linden: Focus: bug triage for viewer crashes
Laetizia Coronet: Weds!
Amphithetre Andalso: You can get close, Torley. When you go over bumps for a short time you float a bit
JayR Cela: I had a RL Stroke 2 years ago / lost most of the use of right side of my body and saw someting on TV about SL and I started comeing here / has been great for me
Bridie Linden: is it/
Torley Linden: Bridie fills the gap!
Daedalus Young: I don't see any hours on Wed
Daedalus Young: and only one on Mon
Blogland Oh: you get more people here than some people do an actual class
Laetizia Coronet: but Bridie that's update day
Bridie Linden: I'll be the first! :)
Wyn Galbraith: You have to check the wiki list too.
Bridie Linden: I know
Bridie Linden: I'm brave
Alexandra Rucker: JayR > My gf just had a stroke last month
Torley Linden: Bridie's got moxie.
Bridie Linden: or crazy! :)
Laetizia Coronet: lol Bridie
Wyn Galbraith: In the afternoon is pretty safe, that's Blue's
Torley Linden: JayR: I'm so happy to hear that... thanks for sharing with us.
Bridie Linden: we'll see how it goes...take care all!
Torley Linden: Bai bai Bridie!
Laetizia Coronet: bye
Wyn Galbraith: Oh Blue is 4-5
Torley Linden: The adventures continue!
Wyn Galbraith: Wednesday.
Torley Linden: Yeah, it's like filling up the schedule of Linden programming...
Torley Linden: Linden TV or something.
Torley Linden: "And on prime time Fridays..."
Torley Linden: LOLEX.
Al Sonic: XD
Blogland Oh: Torley I have a question if I may ask
Amphithetre Andalso thinks more like LindenCon
Laetizia Coronet: You'll soon need half hour Officer Hours to give you all a spot
Celierra Darling: Well, this sim is all Linden, all the time. :P
Wyn Galbraith: Qarl overlaps someone too. Who is it.
Blogland Oh: its of teen second life
Torley Linden: Blogland: Go ahead!
Alexandra Rucker: I'm sure there's some lindens on different times frames, perfect for catching night shifters :)
Blogland Oh: my little brother he's 11
Blogland Oh: at first he joined this one
Wyn Galbraith has seen Blue, "Not just for teens."
Blogland Oh: crafty bugger put 1986 instead of 96
Torley Linden: Blogland: Oh dear!
Blogland Oh: so I got him to delete it any who
Wyn Galbraith: Crafty
Blogland Oh: how comes when he searches for educational events
Laetizia Coronet: good show Blogland
Blogland Oh: he gets the same feeds we do
Blogland Oh: do you know how that works?
Torley Linden: Blogland: You mean on the blog? The website?
Blogland Oh: well actually in the metaverse
Wyn Galbraith: Search I think.
Blogland Oh: when you click search
Squirrel Wood: I dare y'all to go to https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1839 and vote for it XD
Blogland Oh: then the drop down menu
Blogland Oh: educational...blah blah blah
Torley Linden: Blogland: Hmmm well, 11 years old is too young for even Teen Second Life, alas. He shouldn't be inworld if he's that young. Teen SL is for 13-17 years old.
Blogland Oh: can he goto tat class or what happens
Wyn Galbraith: Search>events> pulldown education
Blogland Oh: is it
Torley Linden: Yes.
Blogland Oh: well I'll be watching him anywho
Torley Linden: But if you're on the Teen Grid and try to teleport to a Main Grid event, it'll say you can't teleport, or at least, it should.
Wyn Galbraith: Ah.
Blogland Oh: if you don't mind
Alexandra Rucker: why do main grid events even SHOW UP on teen grid??
Blogland Oh: ah right
Alexandra Rucker: that only encourages some of them to sneak into MG
Torley Linden: Blogland: Sadly I do mind. :( I wouldn't want him to get into trouble.
Torley Linden: Alexandra: They shouldn't, and that's what sounds odd to me!
Wyn Galbraith: They shouldn't show up.
Blogland Oh: ok
Wyn Galbraith: Is he almost 12?
Saijanai Kuhn: Frist!
Blogland Oh: he just turned 11
Blogland Oh: he saw me on it
Blogland Oh: and he just loved it so much
Laetizia Coronet: Gosh kids should play with Lego blocks at that age ;)
Blogland Oh: haha! Not my Daniel
Wyn Galbraith: Oh, then tell him that all good things come to those who wait and by the time he gets here it will be Great!
Amphithetre Andalso: SL is one big lego set
Amphithetre Andalso: >_>;
Torley Linden: It's cool he loves Second Life, tho, I hope in the future we can expand more to encompass more ages... if that's possible, I don't know from a legal standpoint if it is.
Saijanai Kuhn: get him into squeak smalltalk and Croquet
Torley Linden: Great advice Wyn.
Laetizia Coronet: Amphi, I have seen things Lego doesn't begin t cover ;)
Daedalus Young: I played in offline virtual words when I was that age
Amphithetre Andalso: I know ^_^
Torley Linden: Second Life is kinda like hyper-Legos sometimes.
Daedalus Young: Duke Nukem 2
Saijanai Kuhn: http://www.squeakland.org
Wyn Galbraith has 6 kids and four grandchildren and raised gamers.
Torley Linden: When's Duke Nukem Forever coming out?
Torley Linden: Wyn, that sounds like such a great family.
Daedalus Young: I think never
Torley Linden: Lots of love.
Laetizia Coronet: Torley did you respray your Legos to be green and pink?
Wyn Galbraith: They're good kids, came out great.
Daedalus Young: but you can have 3D with hi-res textures now
Al Sonic: I remember loving playing with some virtual lego blocks once...
Torley Linden: Laetizia: I almost did but didn't have the paint colors to do it.
Arkhanis Starostin: It's time to kick ass & chew gum... sigh. Who thought of that as a one-liner?
Laetizia Coronet: I always wanted army green legos lol
Daedalus Young: ...and I'm all out of gum
Amphithetre Andalso: Just don't swallow the gum!
Arkhanis Starostin: You know, I have done a few times? Doesn't seem to have done me any ill
Arkhanis Starostin twitches slightly
Torley Linden: Haha, well that "kick ass & chew gum" is actually taken from Evil Dead. :D
Laetizia Coronet: and don't say 'chew ass' by mistake either
Torley Linden: Army of Darkness, specifically.
Arkhanis Starostin: Is that the third one?
Alexandra Rucker: yes
Al Sonic: *can't help but chuckle*
Torley Linden: Yeah.
Arkhanis Starostin: Not seen it yet <_<
Celierra Darling: It's more like legos with play-doh and duct tape and telekinesis >.> :P
Torley Linden: Shop smart! Shop S-Mart!
Celierra Darling: [lag...]
JayR Cela: oh we all seem to be avid video gamers gathered here
Torley Linden: I often find it funny when people take those kinds of interests into Second Life...
Torley Linden: The Games We Played!
Daedalus Young: oh! the blacktextured avatar bug!
Amphithetre Andalso: Yeah it's awsome, we all have superpowers, but no one cares
Blogland Oh: I gotta go im late for my friends class oops nice meeting you torley HAHA bye!!
Daedalus Young: right in front of me now
Laetizia Coronet: not me, never gamed much
Torley Linden: Daedalus: I detest those ones!
Torley Linden: Take care Blogland! Bye!
Arkhanis Starostin: I care. Where's my mindbullets? D:
Wyn Galbraith has been dreaming of a vr enviroment since she started reading scifi at 12.
Celierra Darling: Daedalus - who?
JayR Cela: eeeeekkkkkk run away the sky is falling / LOL
Amphithetre Andalso: In the weapons sims
Daedalus Young: Inara is full black for me
Torley Linden: Some things begin to take grip as reality... and here we are.
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." -- Richard P. Feynman
Torley Linden: Inara, I see you as black too, is that intentional?
Torley Linden: Feynman is another genius.
Daedalus Young: and Laetizia, but that's a different black (heehee)
JayR Cela: I live in SL about 12 hours a day 6 days a week
Amphithetre Andalso is intentionally black skinned
Wyn Galbraith: There is a question about what Reality really is.
Torley Linden: Wow JayR. :) That's pretty devoted.
Wyn Galbraith is here a lot too, until she gets an RL job.
JayR Cela: well day seve I spend with my parents :_)
Daedalus Young: even her pretty blue eyes are black :/
Wyn Galbraith: Or figures out how to make SL her job.
Laetizia Coronet: Wyn I'd hire you but I have no money lol
JayR Cela: SL is my Job
Inara Juran: Inara is full black for Inara as well. Not my intent.
Torley Linden: Inara, try Client menu (Ctrl-Alt-D) > Character > Rebake Textures ?
Amphithetre Andalso: I'm trying to earn some money through selling my art here. So far, nothing much
Wyn Galbraith loves to build, "Want to take over the Linden roads job. :)
Inara Juran: Having problems.
Laetizia Coronet: Ah, they made me a Mentor now the fools *evil laughter*
Inara Juran: Been there, done that, lost my eyes as well.
Wyn Galbraith: Mia said I should apply as SL Mentor
JayR Cela: is to bad I not really making any money from SL YET!!! but I Will , just have to give it some time
Torley Linden: Oh no Inara. :( I hope you're able to get your textures back, I've seen the problem (and related ones) several times on the Issue Tracker.
Laetizia Coronet: I did and about a lifetime later, I am now a Mentor
Torley Linden: How events happen in the course of the timestream.
Inara Juran: Not yet. Don't know how to resolve the problem.
Torley Linden: Inara, changing skins didn't work either? Trying on the default avatars?
Wyn Galbraith: If I could make a couple of 1000US a month I'd be happy ;)
Laetizia Coronet: Robin will fire those who decided to allow me for sur lol
Alexandra Rucker: lol
Inara Juran: Nope, even default avator has the problem.
Torley Linden: LOL nah Robin is way cool that way.
Amphithetre Andalso: Arkh, didn't you have a similar problem? I asked you to rebake, that helped
Arkhanis Starostin: Hmm, I've only had one glitch in SL so far. However, since that glitch involved every modded part of an av getting parse failures.. gah
Wyn Galbraith: Robin's ok.
Arkhanis Starostin: Oh, and that rebake thing, for one skin. Yes, that worked
Laetizia Coronet: Torley, I actually like her... but well you know the story
Torley Linden: *nod*
Wyn Galbraith: You can like people and not always agree with them.
Torley Linden: Yeah, I do that all the time. :)
Torley Linden: Hehehe.
Laetizia Coronet has never met a Linden she realy disliked
Torley Linden: It's been super-fun visiting with all of ya... alas, I've got to go again for now. Thanks for coming and being with me!
Amphithetre Andalso: o/
Daedalus Young: thanks Torley!
Alexandra Rucker: I've met a lot of lindens who've thought processes have totally mystified me :)
Laetizia Coronet: see you again Torley!
Wyn Galbraith: Me either Laetizia.
Arkhanis Starostin: \o
Squirrel Wood: Thanks for spending time with us ^^
Amphithetre Andalso: o/`
Torley Linden: Have awesome weekends... dun dun dun...
Thomas Shikami: I'll go, see if I can meet Michael
Torley Linden: LOL I like that wave!
Thomas Shikami: :p
Laetizia Coronet: Alex lol yeah
Thomas Shikami: Thanks
Celierra Darling: See you soon, Torley :)
Torley Linden: T'care all, see you soon! =D
