Vint Falken's artist's statement for SL4B

Audio Version of this statement.

Disclaimer that comes with any interaction with Vint Falken:

Vint Falken realizes all too well she is not 'real' in the way any human is. She can not feel pain, she shall never starve or die of old age. Yet she can blush when complimented, she shall swear when someone steps on her tail, she sobs when she doesn't get what she wants and she purrrrs when someone bites her ears. Thus, nowhere near 'perfect machinised android' she travels the grid, trying to photograph the metaverse residents in their digitalised perfection. Each and every day, she is surprised by the fact that although we can be perfect in this virtual world, most prefer uniqueness above perfect looks, creating and sharing knowledge above big profits and social interaction and emotions above perfect reason. In her own urge to create, for, in and about this virtual world she is not scared to alter this meta-reality in Photoshop if that is what she needs to do to depict her view on the grid. By doing that, her friends become even more beautiful, SLpolitics even more dirty and the difference between first life reality and second life reality even more vague.

She hopes that by expositioning at SL4B she will meet some new like-minded people, meet again some long time no-see avies and get some other avies to think about their 'meta existence'. As we should not take that for granted, neither should we blindly obey the government/Linden Labs.

She's planning on importing into Second Life a lot visual of material (photographs, comics, ...) about her SL experiences and SL in general that was still on her web 2.0 blog vintfalken.com, as well as showing off a new cross-over web 2.0 vs. metaverse project that includes using the Flickr API. At SL4B we should show off what we come for, we should show off what is possible in SL, we should show possible future paths and most of all, we should show that we, the residents, are not just the next best target for marketeers.
