Events: What is changing?
The events team is working hard to make event listings more useful to Residents and event hosts. Therefore, we are introducing a number of new features and controls. To ensure that hosts can continue to post great events without interruption, we wanted to ensure you know about upcoming changes.
Warning: If you currently host events on group-owned land, please be aware that you may have to make a change in order continue to post events. |
Starting with Viewer 2.3, it can now be used to manage the new group-owned land permissions. To post events, you must be an owner of the group OR a group owner must grant you that ability via a role.
How to grant the ability to host an event
To give someone the ability to host an event on group-owned land, first create an "event host" role for the group, and then add the person to that role. NOTE: You can also add this ability to an existing group role.

Important: Download Viewer 2.3 Beta and make this change today! We will be enforcing this restriction after Viewer 2.23 becomes the production stable release, on December 1st! |
Other events features
Several new features are coming for events, including:
- Extending the length of an event.
- Blocking duplicate event spamming, so that your event isn't lost in a sea of spam postings.
- Introducing the ability to add formatting to your event posts.
We're really excited about the changes and we hope you will be, too. Look for a blog post soon from the Events Team!
