A short PS: With the forced Update postponed in the last moment due to the massive negative feedback on the 1.19 clients it, at least for a little while, is still possible to log in with older clients of the 1.18 line (I just tried the realxtent client, not having the old install files anymore) that don't turn off movie support if you can't update to the latest XP oply QT-Patch.

Got it. --JetZep Zabelin 14:53, 11 December 2007 (PST)

re: L$ Marketplace

One one hand, I'd say no. The article isn't well written/coded, and seems too much of a non-neutral advertisement.

On the other hand, Zee Linden made an edit.

It looks like a directory of L$ resellers accepted by LL. --JetZep Zabelin 16:56, 21 February 2008 (PST)

Mentoring in the face of abuse

re: Win 2000

Hey there!

True, it sucks, especially since I was thrown out of the community I spent the last year in, the mst3k theater was more or less the only place in sl which still gave me some joy at the moment.

About the Update: Apple officially stopped all Win2000 support, the Quicktime update will never arrive for me.

LL, by making this a required update, simply cut off windows 2000 users from watching movies. Yes, I know, the new www-sl-interface from the release canditate will change that whole situation again. In time. If they get it to run.

But - hey - after all LL allready announced stopping win2000 support completely at some point in the not so far future too, so there's really not much reason to still care too much.

But keep in mind that the Quicktime patch is there for a reason - it fixes security leaks.

So, as a Win2000 user for now you still CAN watch movies in SL, as long as you keep in mind that this leaves one more security breach in your system. None is perfect, and I actually prefer a 2000 with the QT breach open to a Win XP or Vista, security-wise.

Maybe that's some info you and other mentors can use... :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added on 14:08, 13 March 2008 by Kruge Kubrick
