Revision as of 10:04, 26 June 2008
- [15:04] Aric Linden: hi all
- [15:04] Cummere Mayo: hey aric!
- [15:05] Torley Linden: quick tangent question before we get started: go to [1] -- is some of the text layout wrong (e.g., outside the white "dialog bubble")?
- [15:05] Johan Laurasia: Hi Aric
- [15:05] Bridie Linden: havea seat aric
- [15:05] Aric Linden: lagalicious today
- [15:05] Torley Linden: (it seems like in Firefox 3, the first loading of the slurl page always looks borked)
- [15:05] Bridie Linden: Sooo...
- [15:05] Bridie Linden: Some announcements before we get started...
- [15:05] Alexa Linden: it loaded fine for me
- [15:05] Cummere Mayo: its doing that in all firefox versions
- [15:05] Cummere Mayo: for me at least
- [15:05] Bridie Linden: Big news! 1.20 RC11 is available for download!
- [15:05] Torley Linden: thanks Alexa, which browser?
- [15:06] Torley Linden: OH SWEEET *goes to download*
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: [2]
- [15:06] Alexa Linden: the newest one
- [15:06] Squirrel Wood: already downloaded. :p
- [15:06] Johan Laurasia: looks ok in Firefox version 2
- [15:06] Squirrel Wood: not installed yet though
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: xlnt!
- [15:06] Torley Linden: kk thx
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: For those that haven't had a chance to read the blog...
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: A showstopper was found last week that prevented us from shipping. RC11 has 4 more crash fixes and an important fix to a major source of memory leaks.
- [15:06] Cummere Mayo: i downlaed rc 11 to my laptop. if its as good as ten ill be putting it on this machine too
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: also...
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: We've been listening to the feedback on Dazzle — specifically, the request that the Dazzle UI be optional (See VWR-5059). We've decided to take the next several weeks to implement the ability to toggle between pre-installed skins (Classic look vs. Dazzle) via a preference in the Viewer UI and thus extend the 1.20 RC cycle further.
- [15:06] Bridie Linden: welcome nya
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: We had originally included skin-switching in our plans, but upped the priority after taking a look @ all of the feedback we've received. We want everyone to be able to benefit from the many bug/crash fixes in 1.20 rather than have the fans of the "Classic" viewer look continue to use the 1.19.1 viewer.
- [15:07] Nya Linden: hi!
- [15:07] Aric Linden: Hi Nya
- [15:07] Aric Linden: long time no see
- [15:07] Cummere Mayo: nods "that should make several people happy"
- [15:07] Torley Linden: that'll help with the transition
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: and...
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: The work required to do this is shared across Dev, Rx and the QA teams. While the complexity is fairly small, it will take time to update the UI and confirm the changes. We expect to do at least 2 more iterations of the 1.20 Release Candidate before we call it Final, likely early August. Please continue to report any new issues in PJIRA and set "Affects Version/s" to "1.20 Release Candidate". We appreciate your patience and help making 1.20 as solid as possible!
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: continues...
- [15:07] Torley Linden: wow, most epic RC evar
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: Heads up for Mono fans, 1.20 RC12 is planned to include the Viewer UI changes for Mono! Note, the Mono-viewer UI will be greyed out until the Mono simulators are deployed in late July. See below for details on when Mono will be rolling out in production. For now, this capability can be tested by logging on to the Preview Grid.
- [15:07] Bridie Linden: wipes brow
- [15:07] Cummere Mayo: hello bambers and nya and any other linen i missed
- [15:08] Cummere Mayo: *linden
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: missing linens?
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: :)
- [15:08] Bambers Linden: hi Cummere, and everyone :)
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: Any questions or should we dive in?
- [15:08] Alexa Linden: short sheeted ;)
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: [3]
- [15:08] Cummere Mayo: goes red and shushes
- [15:08] Bridie Linden: Mucho gracias to Alexa for agenda help
- [15:08] Alexa Linden: anytime :)
- [15:09] Bridie Linden: gold sarts for all!
- [15:09] Squirrel Wood: Wooo!
- [15:09] Bridie Linden: Ok then...
- [15:09] Bridie Linden: first up...
- [15:09] Bridie Linden: VWR-7816[c
- [15:09] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7816
- [15:10] Alexa Linden: I get offlines all the time still
- [15:10] Johan Laurasia: me too
- [15:10] Cummere Mayo: i dotn always
- [15:10] Alexa Linden: is there a pattern Cummers?
- [15:10] Alexa Linden: Cummere*
- [15:10] Torley Linden: hmmm *checks my email queue*
- [15:10] Gellan Glenelg: I've been getting them
- [15:10] Alexa Linden: such as a time of day
- [15:10] Cummere Mayo: not that i found
- [15:10] Torley Linden: i've been getting min
- [15:10] Torley Linden: *mine
- [15:10] Bridie Linden: me too
- [15:10] Cummere Mayo: i get msot of mine but not all
- [15:11] Alexa Linden: 1.19.1.4, 1.20 Release Candidate
- [15:11] Johan Laurasia: I see emaiils that show up as if it were sent by the creator, shown as the owner
- [15:11] Torley Linden: wow, i've had almost 12,000 IMs-to-email since i started SL
- [15:11] Gellan Glenelg: there was someone ranting on the Rolling Restart blog comments about emails being malformed / classified as spam.. I wonder if that's relatedf
- [15:11] Torley Linden: i wonder which email client they're using too... and if they can test by rotating their email through several different ones (i am on Gmail)
- [15:11] Light: off:
- [15:12] Light: on:
- [15:12] Gellan Glenelg: oh - and should this be VWR? or SVCV?
- [15:12] Bridie Linden: [4]
- [15:12] Torley Linden: SVC makes more sense
- [15:12] Alexa Linden: ok - will move it
- [15:13] Bridie Linden: I'm not sure what else to do with this one though...aric?
- [15:13] Cummere Mayo: well half mine are always miscategorized as spam, but thats a filter issue not an sl thing. but yeah jsut soemtimes maybe 1 in 50 offline ims wont hit my email. and now maybe 1 in ten offline notices
- [15:13] Torley Linden: in the past with these sorts of troubles, i've sent full headers to Operations...
- [15:14] Torley Linden: e.g., with a comment like https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7816?focusedCommentId=66377#action_66377 perhaps if Axienne could send the full email headers, that'd help pinpoint the prob
- [15:14] Bridie Linden: I can try and follow up w/resi and/or ops
- [15:14] Torley Linden: in those cases where "i sent a bunch but only some got through"
- [15:14] Gellan Glenelg: but if she's not receiving emails......
- [15:14] Gellan Glenelg: ok
- [15:14] Torley Linden: Gellan, i know... =) that's why i emphasized focusing on those cases where some (not all) make it
- [15:14] Cummere Mayo: i kinda think this is important to import
- [15:15] Bridie Linden: but i'm not sure we can do much w/o more info
- [15:15] Bridie Linden: Torley could you comment?
- [15:15] Torley Linden: yes Bridie
- [15:15] Bridie Linden: Ty
- [15:15] Cummere Mayo: one thing maybe ask people WHAT the email provider is?
- [15:15] Bridie Linden: yes
- [15:16] Cummere Mayo: see if maybe someplace like aol or comcast is blocking ?
- [15:16] Bridie Linden: next up, VWR-7178[c
- [15:16] Gellan Glenelg: yeah - could be an isp-level "spam" blocker
- [15:16] Gellan Glenelg: is this another SVC?
- [15:16] Viridian Exonar: yahoo has a spam filter agaisnt it..
- [15:16] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7178
- [15:16] Squirrel Wood: square images.... sounds familiar
- [15:16] Viridian Exonar: Wasn't this in last weeks?
- [15:16] Gellan Glenelg: sorry - i'm reading from webpage - different issue
- [15:16] Torley Linden: i remember looking at this before...
- [15:16] Torley Linden: yeah it seems like a repeat Viridian
- [15:16] Battery Street: Irregulars whispers: Thanks for your interest in the Battery Street Irregulars. We'll be contacting you soon!
- [15:17] Cummere Mayo: it was I cut it out
- [15:17] Cummere Mayo: aparently the change didnt take :(
- [15:18] Bridie Linden: who's testing? results?
- [15:18] Bridie Linden: :)
- [15:18] Alexa Linden: square
- [15:18] Alexa Linden: even if I go and choose current window
- [15:18] Alexa Linden: upload inworld is square
- [15:18] Viridian Exonar: And custom won't let you adjust.. just 512 x 512 right?
- [15:18] Squirrel Wood: always is
- [15:18] Bridie Linden: Let's import...
- [15:18] Cummere Mayo: well that is not a bug. its suppsoed to be that way now at least thats what i was told
- [15:19] Squirrel Wood: 511x127 will be downscaled to 256x64
- [15:19] Alexa Linden: ya, that's what I keep hearing too
- [15:19] Bridie Linden: I know that some work has been done on the snapshot tool recently
- [15:19] Gellan Glenelg: but it's a change to previous behaviour... used to be able to take snapshot of whole screen.. which was squished to 512x512
- [15:19] Alexa Linden: yes Gellan
- [15:19] Alexa Linden: I miss that :(
- [15:19] Gellan Glenelg: me too
- [15:19] Viridian Exonar: I don't think this is a bug but.. I can see where it would be annoying..
- [15:19] Alexa Linden: it's good for bug reporting
- [15:19] Bambers Linden: I think it needs to be imported and looked at
- [15:19] Gellan Glenelg: tho from bao's comment, the change was intended
- [15:19] Alexa Linden: noted
- [15:20] Cummere Mayo: i think that this is jsut a new feature tht needs reversed *Shrugs*
- [15:20] Torley Linden: yes, there's misunderstanding about "powers of 2" textures...
- [15:20] Torley Linden: before this happened, people complained "why is my snapshot 512x512 if my screen is a different resolution? now it looks squashed!"
- [15:20] Viridian Exonar: Sorta hard to get good scenery picks with a square when you want panarama
- [15:21] Dirk Talamasca: The aspect ratio of the images is correct at least and that is what counts
- [15:21] Alexa Linden: true Dirk
- [15:21] Bridie Linden: let's import and continue on :)
- [15:21] Bridie Linden: NExt up
- [15:21] Bridie Linden: # VWR-7722[c
- [15:21] Alexa Linden: will do
- [15:22] Gellan Glenelg: this should be SVC?
- [15:22] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7722
- [15:22] Bridie Linden: looks like Gellan
- [15:22] Cummere Mayo: hmms
- [15:23] Alexa Linden: I can move to svc
- [15:23] Aric Linden: I hate to say it, cuz I know you'll all miss me, but I need to disappear
- [15:23] Aric Linden: waves and blows kisses
- [15:23] Alexa Linden: lol
- [15:23] Bridie Linden: I'm not sure I understand the repro in 7722
- [15:23] Gellan Glenelg: cya aric
- [15:23] Cummere Mayo: well what happens for someone not on the rc though?
- [15:23] Alexa Linden: bye Aric :)
- [15:23] Zen Linden: adios
- [15:23] Bridie Linden: bye aric
- [15:23] Cummere Mayo: tc aric
- [15:23] Cummere Mayo: does it still do the same?
- [15:24] Gellan Glenelg: I've seen similar - more like that mentioned inVWR-7721 ... If you log on INSIDE a prim, that prim is phantom
- [15:24] Bridie Linden: sinking avs is in this issue https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2013
- [15:24] Gellan Glenelg: also, if someone rezzes a prim on top of you, you no longer "float to the top"
- [15:25] Harleen Gretzky: 2013 has been fixed hasn't it?
- [15:26] Bridie Linden: Harleen another hover issue was fixed, but i'm not sure about 2013
- [15:26] Bridie Linden: Alexa, let's ping Sidewinder about these issues, pls
- [15:26] Alexa Linden: ok
- [15:27] Bridie Linden: Ty
- [15:27] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:27] Bridie Linden: VWR-7566[c
- [15:27] Cummere Mayo: always thinks whenever she hears "lets ping sidewinder" that soemone si about to attempt to shoto him down
- [15:27] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7566
- [15:27] Bridie Linden: lol Cummere
- [15:27] Alexa Linden: lol
- [15:28] Gellan Glenelg: I think he wants it to say WHY voice isn't avaiable... but as it's due to use of -multiple, which I don't believe is officially suppported, I guess it's not going to be high iority
- [15:28] Viridian Exonar: Wasn't this in last week's as well or am I having deja vu?
- [15:28] Gellan Glenelg: yes it was
- [15:28] Cummere Mayo: yes we resolved as needing mroe info
- [15:28] Cummere Mayo: he provided hence why its back
- [15:29] Bambers Linden: this is deja vu all over again
- [15:29] Bridie Linden: nods
- [15:29] Bambers Linden: aah
- [15:29] Torley Linden: yeah hence why this is "Low"
- [15:29] Bridie Linden: let's leave as is
- [15:29] Alexa Linden: LT date?
- [15:29] Bridie Linden: sure
- [15:30] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:30] Bridie Linden: VWR-7809[c
- [15:30] Dirk Talamasca: gasp
- [15:30] Cummere Mayo: i havent seent that so much lately, but god was that annoying
- [15:30] Alexa Linden: hahaha
- [15:30] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7809
- [15:30] Alexa Linden: so much for attaching them
- [15:30] Viridian Exonar: I use to have this issue.. but not anymore..
- [15:30] Johan Laurasia: I was having an issue with that for quite some time, then George Linden suggested I update my video drivers, which cured the problem for me.
- [15:30] Torley Linden: i used to have this a lot of Windows, haven't experienced it recently
- [15:30] Dirk Talamasca: Me either Torley
- [15:31] Gellan Glenelg: both are Mac (for this issue)
- [15:31] Torley Linden: it's like "my gosh, i just want to quit! don't indignify me by... CRASHING!"
- [15:31] Squirrel Wood: could the SL client check the driver version and notify the user if the drivers are outdated ?
- [15:31] Dirk Talamasca: lol
- [15:31] Torley Linden: Squirrel, i've long wished for a more automatic/painless/smooth way to do that
- [15:31] Squirrel Wood: "Enhance your SL performance by updating your video card drivers today!"
- [15:31] Zen Linden: the problem is that the revision numbers often change
- [15:31] Alexa Linden: hahaha
- [15:31] Alexa Linden: awesome
- [15:31] Cummere Mayo: lol
- [15:31] Johan Laurasia: I think the majority of people crashing on exit might just need a driver update
- [15:31] Bridie Linden: Unclear if this happens everytime or ?
- [15:32] Zen Linden: so we need to setup a web service that checks the driver number
- [15:32] Bridie Linden: oooh zen!
- [15:32] Cummere Mayo: theres also two cases where sl doesnt support the msot currant drivers
- [15:32] Viridian Exonar: Well.. maybe ask them if it still happens? Or if it is fixed?
- [15:32] Dirk Talamasca: sart for Zen
- [15:32] Zen Linden: driver checking is on my todo list.
- [15:32] Copy failed: because you lack permission to copy the object 'light ball'.
- [15:32] Bambers Linden: I'm not sure whether SL should be responsible for monitoring a user's driver version
- [15:33] Cummere Mayo: well these are both macs so anyone here have a mac?
- [15:33] Zen Linden: it would be a win ultimately
- [15:33] Viridian Exonar: Yeah.. driver issue.. but OSX updates automatically doesn't it?
- [15:33] Squirrel Wood: doesn't have to do it on revision level... I think major and minor version is good enough
- [15:33] Zen Linden: they just change the driver numbering schemes at times
- [15:33] Bridie Linden: that's what i was just wondering Viridian
- [15:33] Bridie Linden: Zen do you know?
- [15:33] Zen Linden: mac, yeah, it auto updates
- [15:34] Squirrel Wood: It shouldn't be responsible but you cannot be wrong in suggesting an update when the drivers are hopelessly outdated ^^
- [15:34] Zen Linden: exactly
- [15:34] Zen Linden: squirrel, i'm in violent agreement
- [15:34] Ellla McMahon: 10.5.2 is not the latest mac update
- [15:34] Alexa Linden: want me to suggest that i nthis?
- [15:34] Bridie Linden: nods
- [15:34] Torley Linden: hehe, i like that, "violent agreement"
- [15:34] Alexa Linden: k
- [15:34] Johan Laurasia: well, it can be offered as a solution if the user is crashing on exit
- [15:34] Zen Linden: but we used to have a hard coded check for driver version a few years back
- [15:35] Viridian Exonar: Yeah.. offer the update as a solution.. if that doesn't work..
- [15:35] Bambers Linden: is there a reason it was removed?
- [15:35] Squirrel Wood: check the creation date of the main driver dlls? if older than six months... update!
- [15:35] Zen Linden: and problems came when the manufacturers changed how things were numbered
- [15:35] Bridie Linden: oi
- [15:35] Zen Linden: hehehe
- [15:36] Cummere Mayo: at the risk of sounding hethen I say we suggest a manual updating of the mac os and drivers and see if that helps?
- [15:36] Alexa Linden: Zen, can you comment on this one?
- [15:36] Alexa Linden: and I'll mark as needs more info
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: +1 Cummere
- [15:36] Zen Linden: shore
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: VWR-7132[c
- [15:36] Alexa Linden: thanks :)
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7132
- [15:36] Cummere Mayo: -i- no longer ahve that issue but here are some that do
- [15:36] Bridie Linden: looks @ Cummere
- [15:37] Gellan Glenelg: I've seen this in rc10 (not before, as I rarely use private voice)
- [15:37] Bridie Linden: it's been good for me...
- [15:37] Bridie Linden: try w/RC11?
- [15:37] Johan Laurasia: my voice cuts out alot on non private voice
- [15:37] Torley Linden: i haven't had this experience either
- [15:37] Gellan Glenelg: I will - not installed it yet
- [15:38] Squirrel Wood: voice has been particularly nice to me and not dared failing in a long time ^^
- [15:38] Dirk Talamasca: 6 never worked for me.. I used it constantly in 10 with no issue
- [15:38] Bridie Linden: Let's resolve as 'try w/latest RC
- [15:38] Alexa Linden: ok
- [15:39] Bridie Linden: Next
- [15:39] Bridie Linden: VWR-7797[c
- [15:39] Gellan Glenelg: should VWR-7755 (dupe) get the same?
- [15:39] Cummere Mayo: voice usually works for me now but *Shrugs* havent tried in 11 yet (jsut now opened 11 first time)
- [15:39] Bridie Linden: I think so Gellan
- [15:39] Viridian Exonar: Hmm.. was this last week.. did we mark as more info?
- [15:39] Bridie Linden: Cummere, if you do have voice issues, not the time of day, location etc
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: Ah, this one is closed
- [15:40] Zen Linden: griefer tool
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: "Closing per resident - this was not a viewer glitch - Molly"
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: Did we talk about this one last week too?
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: VWR-7868[c
- [15:40] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7868
- [15:41] Bridie Linden: i guess not if it was created on Saturday
- [15:41] Alexa Linden: I don't remember this one
- [15:41] Alexa Linden: oh
- [15:41] Alexa Linden: lol
- [15:41] Cummere Mayo: of course iw ill bridie. at the time i made hat one it was an issue of vc NEVER worked ><
- [15:41] Torley Linden: *notes the issues this is related to*
- [15:41] Gellan Glenelg: it's a probably dupe of VWR-7812
- [15:41] Bridie Linden: Was just about to say that Gellan
- [15:41] Bridie Linden: :)
- [15:41] Torley Linden: my wife sometimes get the "black snapshots" too but it's intermittent
- [15:41] Torley Linden: she has antialiasing on
- [15:42] Bridie Linden: Let's resolve this one as a dupe, but ask for results from RC11
- [15:42] Squirrel Wood: I usually just hit PrintScreen and use IrfanView to save the clipboard contents ^^
- [15:42] Gellan Glenelg: but if I'm not SURE it's a dupe, I mark as related (as I did here)
- [15:42] Viridian Exonar: Excellent blackscreen shot "Yeah, it's suppose to be a puppy"
- [15:42] Squirrel Wood: no black screens, no square images
- [15:43] Alexa Linden: smiles at Garn
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: Ok, mark as related and ask for results from RC11 in both :)
- [15:43] Garn Conover: closing eyes in bliss to the scritch
- [15:43] Garn Conover: Mrewp Mrewp! ^_^
- [15:43] Gellan Glenelg: yeah - but using your method, VWR-7614 (UI showing) will return, squirrel ;P
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: VWR-7926[c
- [15:43] Torley Linden: oh yeah, i do miss that functionality :\
- [15:43] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7926
- [15:44] Cummere Mayo: testing now since i have an rc11 open
- [15:44] Torley Linden: i wonder if that's possible with Google Search Appliance
- [15:44] Torley Linden: new search replaced the old-style, and i found it difficult to do some social networking research due to this limitation
- [15:44] Viridian Exonar: Umm.. don't think it is possible.. but.. I'll try
- [15:45] Cummere Mayo: its till not possible and um not sure why classifieds are also showing up on a gorup search?
- [15:45] Alexa Linden: ya, I liked that functionality a lot
- [15:45] Torley Linden: i suggest importing this and showing to search team
- [15:45] Bambers Linden: was it intentionally designed out?
- [15:45] Bambers Linden: Or overlooked?
- [15:45] Torley Linden: Bambers, i don't think consciously so... likely overlooked
- [15:45] Viridian Exonar: Good idea.. poorly applied?
- [15:45] Bridie Linden: Let's import and give to James
- [15:45] Alexa Linden: ok
- [15:45] Torley Linden: yeah sounds good :)
- [15:45] Bambers Linden: then it should be imported
- [15:45] Bridie Linden: or planned for later?
- [15:46] Torley Linden: this issue is still fresh but i bet it would catch on if more people saw this was missing
- [15:46] Bambers Linden: lol - sorry - my typing seems to be way behind the conversation! :~)
- [15:46] Bridie Linden: Of course, if you agree, vote for that issue!
- [15:46] Bridie Linden: what's new Bambers?
- [15:46] Torley Linden: i didn't hear any mention of this being planned for later, better to make sure it's brought to attention soon
- [15:46] Bridie Linden: :)
- [15:46] Alexa Linden: yup
- [15:47] Bridie Linden: Next
- [15:47] Bridie Linden: VWR-7845[c
- [15:47] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7845
- [15:47] Viridian Exonar: Never had that issue personally..
- [15:47] Johan Laurasia: running makes vista hang randomly
- [15:47] Cummere Mayo: cant repo, i dont use vista :P
- [15:47] Torley Linden: downgrade from Showstopper as it's not confirmed widespread
- [15:47] Bambers Linden: I think I've seen it before
- [15:47] Bridie Linden: we've heard that some folks are having issues when running as user.
- [ Show » ]]
- aric linden - 24/Jun/08 01:23 PM Hi, are you running as administrator or user? we've heard that some folks are having issues when running as user.
- [15:47] Viridian Exonar: I think SP1 just came out not long ago.. fixed ALOT of issues
- [15:47] Johan Laurasia: me either, but I have alot of experience with Microsoft, and that's always been an issue with their software
- [15:48] Bambers Linden: but I've never experienced it enough to get usable data re: frequency, etc
- [15:48] Bridie Linden: Next up
- [15:48] Bambers Linden: bridie - I'm running as a user on Vista now
- [15:48] Viridian Exonar: There was a window update for memory leakage too.. so..
- [15:48] Bambers Linden: so it could be user plus x-issue
- [15:49] Bridie Linden: Any random badness Bambers?
- [15:49] Bambers Linden: yes
- [15:49] Bridie Linden: :(
- [15:49] Bridie Linden: as admin?
- [15:49] Bambers Linden: but infrequently random to be untraceable so far
- [15:49] Bambers Linden: sorry - never noticed as admin
- [15:49] Bambers Linden: 1.19. seems fine though
- [15:49] Bambers Linden: never had trouble ther
- [15:49] Bridie Linden: never tried as admin?
- [15:49] Bambers Linden: e
- [15:50] Bambers Linden: not on this machine
- [15:50] Bridie Linden: well, let us know what you find
- [15:50] Bridie Linden: :)
- [15:50] Garn Conover: muches quietly
- [15:50] Bridie Linden: next up
- [15:50] Bridie Linden: VWR-7929[c
- [15:50] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7929
- [15:50] Torley Linden: hmmm... odd... i wonder how often the map tiles update nowadays
- [15:51] Johan Laurasia: was just going to ask that
- [15:51] Viridian Exonar: Seems to be good to me.. I dunno though..
- [15:51] Bambers Linden: I asked Milo about this ages ago and got a valid response
- [15:51] Bambers Linden: I just can't recall what it was...
- [15:51] Gellan Glenelg: not very often :9
- [15:51] Alexa Linden: lol
- [15:51] Torley Linden: i see desert too... this may be self-resolving eventually but it'd be useful to know
- [15:51] Alexa Linden: ya, it's pretty slow
- [15:51] Torley Linden: the map used to update every night
- [15:51] Johan Laurasia: once, twice a month or so?
- [15:51] Garn Conover: i dont see that
- [15:51] Torley Linden: but as the world got bigger...
- [15:51] Johan Laurasia: yeah
- [15:51] Alexa Linden: it took over a month for a friends sim map to update
- [15:51] Garn Conover: this from 10 im guessing?
- [15:52] Garn Conover: brb
- [15:52] Bambers Linden: is that desert?
- [15:52] Johan Laurasia: alot of overhead to update the whole 9 yards anymore
- [15:52] Bambers Linden: (is that a relevant question? Sorry)
- [15:53] Bridie Linden: I'm not sure how often the map is updated...
- [15:53] Garn Conover: map still renders wrong
- [15:53] Bridie Linden: Alexa let's see if we can find out
- [15:53] Alexa Linden: ok
- [15:53] Garn Conover: minimap shows grass, world map shoes sand
- [15:53] Alexa Linden: thank you :)
- [15:53] Dirk Talamasca: Anyway to update it in chunks?
- [15:53] Garn Conover: still remembers Torley getting lost there
- [15:53] Johan Laurasia: lately, I've seen it take about 2 weeks or so, sometimes longer
- [15:54] Cummere Mayo: nods... "seen allot mroe map errors lately.. doesnt even always correctly show if a sim is up or down"
- [15:54] Johan Laurasia: I think they just say, well, load is low at the moment, let's run a map update
- [15:54] Johan Laurasia: and do it manually, whenever
- [15:54] Gellan Glenelg: really, johan? the sims I'm familiar with have had 2 updates since Janoary!
- [15:54] Johan Laurasia: I'm guessing
- [15:54] Garn Conover: the entire map w/o zooming was sand
- [15:54] Dirk Talamasca: Global Warming
- [15:54] Johan Laurasia: Well, I had about 3 updates in the last 2 months
- [15:55] Torley Linden: it'd be useful to get an answer on this and include in the KB too; Bridie and Alexa, if you find out the update frequency, can you please lemme know?
- [15:55] Cummere Mayo: well shall we import it and tag it internally as "check on map updation frequency and reliability?"
- [15:55] Bridie Linden: Yes, Torley
- [15:55] Alexa Linden: sure Torley!
- [15:55] Torley Linden: thanx =)
- [15:55] Torley Linden: last time i checked was... over a year ago and i had asked Joshua Linden about it
- [15:56] Garn Conover: tilts head and thumps foot softly
- [15:56] Johan Laurasia: it also seems to update differently on the viewer compared to the web pages
- [15:56] Bridie Linden: Sure, let's import and assign to triage - that way i'll be sure to follow up!
- [15:56] Bridie Linden: ;)
- [15:56] Torley Linden: yeah, the Google webmap has its own strengths (quicker to load) and weaknesses
- [15:57] Bridie Linden: Should we try for one more or ??
- [15:57] Zen Linden: go for it!
- [15:57] Zen Linden: :)
- [15:57] Torley Linden: one mooore
- [15:57] Johan Laurasia: opps, see what happens when u hit the wrong button
- [15:57] Dirk Talamasca: Wonder if there is anyway to update the map along with the rolling restarts
- [15:57] Bridie Linden: 1.20.10 fails to compile with gcc 4.1
- [15:57] Bridie Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7831
- [15:57] Bambers Linden: as long as you didn't hit Alt-F4 you're fine
- [15:57] Bridie Linden: let's import and assign to soft, pls
- [15:58] Garn Conover: hey Bridie when u got a sec between jira i wanan throw up one bout an error on RC DL if u havent heard ot it yet
- [15:58] Bridie Linden: Sure Garn
- [15:58] Bridie Linden: what's up?
- [15:58] Garn Conover: [5]
- [15:59] Garn Conover: get that error after i finish dl'ing the RC client- everything works fine tho- its happeend b4 i just assumed it was a 1 time mistake
- [15:59] Bambers Linden: I hate that error
- [15:59] Cummere Mayo: that happened for me first time i tired to get ten
- [15:59] Bridie Linden: x(
- [16:00] Bridie Linden: Bambers hav eyou seen that?
- [16:00] Bambers Linden: could be anything - do you get another message after hitting OK?
- [16:00] Bambers Linden: yup
- [16:00] Bambers Linden: seen it in many apps
- [16:00] Bambers Linden: it could possibly be us
- [16:00] Viridian Exonar: Windows error?
- [16:00] Garn Conover: its only after i install the new rc and everything is fine
- [16:00] Bridie Linden: hmms
- [16:00] Bambers Linden: but if that was just after downloading us I would suspect your browser or dl manager first
- [16:00] Dirk Talamasca: I think skinning firefox in a glossy lipstick red causes that error
- [16:01] Garn Conover: never had rc running with it tho- so i dont know if it would kill it
- [16:01] Bambers Linden: oh, after INSTALL
- [16:01] Gellan Glenelg: lol dirk
