- [12:05] Alexa Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Monday_Agenda
- [12:05] Squirrel Wood: Avatars and the UI really bog down the frame rate
- [12:05] Aric Linden: Squirrel have you reported this to the BSI thread?
- [12:06] Squirrel Wood: nope
- [12:06] Squirrel Wood: It's the 2nd day I am on this graphics card
- [12:06] Aric Linden: um, might you?
- [12:06] Squirrel Wood: got an url for me?
- [12:06] Aric Linden: Squirrel, send me your issue and I'll get it to the right person
- [12:08] Aric Linden: alexa, would you like to drive?
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: we ready to roll?
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: sure!
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: VWR-1740[c
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1740
- [12:09] Squirrel Wood: With RC14 I have noticed that it makes excessive use of the swap file even when there is plenty of ram free.
- [12:09] Squirrel Wood: and by excessive I mean 25% of a 4GB swap file
- [12:10] Nya Linden: Squirrel - is this just with the new video card?
- [12:10] Erinyse Planer: nya ive noticed that on both my systems as well regardless of my card
- [12:11] Nya Linden: hm.. is this logged anywhere?
- [12:11] Squirrel Wood: regardless of the video card used
- [12:12] Aric Linden: squirrel, if you can create a pjira item and send me the number, i'll get it looked at for you. I have a feeling this is a card that we need to do some special config for
- [12:12] Squirrel Wood: 270mb in ram, 250mb in swapfile is the current usage on my system
- [12:12] Aric Linden: I need the details and the configuration (is this on your linux box?)
- [12:14] Squirrel Wood: k
- [12:14] Aric Linden: with regard to 1740, I'm curious to know if Dolfke is running the native German or Dutch OS
- [12:15] Squirrel Wood: I'm running the german winXP
- [12:15] Aric Linden: dolfke is on a mac
- [12:15] Aric Linden: part of the problem for dolfke could be the video card itself. there are known heating problems with that card on that machine
- [12:16] Aric Linden: regardless, however, I think Chalice has given a lovely reply to Alexa
- [12:17] Aric Linden: Alexa - can you ping Steve at some point and ask him if this issue contains any useful additional information to what we already know about this issue.
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: I will :)
- [12:17] Aric Linden: if so, it should be imported as a viewer thang
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: will do
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: next up
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: MISC-165[c
- [12:18] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-165
- [12:19] Harleen Gretzky: Sounds like redmapping
- [12:19] Gellan Glenelg: hmmm. it was resolved as cannot repro.. then reopened w/o any further info on how to repro (except the suggestion that "releasing and renewing my IP address" might cause problems)
- [12:20] Aric Linden: lovely note from bonham
- [12:20] Erinyse Planer: unfortuneately theres only two ways ive foudn to fix that. upgrade my net connection ad periodically have my connection "cleaned"
- [12:20] Aric Linden: except it doesn't go quite far enough
- [12:21] Aric Linden: it may not be the router. it might be a dynamically granted IP address that's changing mid-session
- [12:21] Bri Gufler: Basically bonham seems to be saying they think its a connectivity issue.
- [12:21] Erinyse Planer: i think it is
- [12:22] Aric Linden: my read is that it's not so much connectivity as the shift in the IP address
- [12:22] Aric Linden: but i don't know if SL looks at IP address specifically
- [12:22] Bri Gufler: Well the second sentence says that he/she thinks the connection is dropping and then getting a new IP when reconnecting.
- [12:23] Gellan Glenelg: [1] seems very similar / more info
- [12:23] Bri Gufler: and then talked about a renew/release - which I would think would kill a connection
- [12:23] Aric Linden: bri, right
- [12:23] Squirrel Wood: wireless ?
- [12:23] Aric Linden: i just don't know if that matters
- [12:23] Bri Gufler: Right
- [12:23] Viridian Exonar: Well.. if the IP was renewed mid-session then the information would not know where to travel to as the previous IP is no longer valid to that client
- [12:24] Aric Linden: squirrel, yeah, wireless is a total bleh for us
- [12:24] Erinyse Planer: yep. and even if you get the same address back, the client once it detects a drop wont recconect
- [12:24] Gellan Glenelg: I find it hard to belive that all the people with this issue are changin IP addresses mid-session
- [12:24] Aric Linden: Viridian, that assumes we care about IP address as part of our handshake
- [12:24] Aric Linden: agrees with Gellan
- [12:24] Bri Gufler: Yeah it seems unlikely.
- [12:25] Aric Linden: Let's import and pass to server
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: on to patches
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: VWR-5917[c
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-5917
- [12:26] Aric Linden: let's take this and pass to viewer
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: got it
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: VWR-8194[c
- [12:27] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8194
- [12:27] Aric Linden: I don't think we're supporting 64 bit yet
- [12:27] Gellan Glenelg: note the "i certainly don't recommend this being imported into the main line viewer code..." in the last comment
- [12:28] Aric Linden: nice catch
- [12:29] Aric Linden: alexa, import for viewer
- [12:29] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:29] Alexa Linden: and now we dip our toes into the Misc Pool
- [12:29] Alexa Linden: * WEB-708[c
- [12:30] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-708
- [12:32] Harleen Gretzky: Don't know javascript at all but I think I got the right part that is causing this
- [12:32] Aric Linden: import, give to jeff
- [12:32] Squirrel Wood: not a number ....
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: SVC-2663[c
- [12:33] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2663
- [12:33] Aimee Trescothick: that sounds like a "yes, it does that" :D
- [12:33] Gellan Glenelg: agreed
- [12:34] Harleen Gretzky: Don't know if it is by design or not, but it i listed as a caveat in the wiki
- [12:34] Bri Gufler: I can see why someone could want it to work the way they describe but I guess this really comes down to a design decision.
- [12:34] Aimee Trescothick: hmm, if it's always been like that it would be bound to break something that relies on it now
- [12:35] Aimee Trescothick: if changed
- [12:35] Harleen Gretzky: BamBam Sachertorte added the caveat 5/31/2007
- [12:35] Harleen Gretzky: So it has been that way for more than a year at least
- [12:36] Aric Linden: i think this is NAAB
- [12:36] Aric Linden: erm
- [12:36] Aric Linden: NAB
- [12:37] Aric Linden: shall we go on?
- [12:37] Alexa Linden: VWR-8183[c
- [12:38] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8183
- [12:39] Aric Linden: wow. nice bug
- [12:39] Aimee Trescothick: solution "roll another joint"
- [12:39] Aric Linden: import -> viewer
- [12:39] Aric Linden: giggles
- [12:39] Aric Linden: Don't bogart
- [12:40] Nya Linden: laughs.
- [12:41] Aric Linden: let's smuggle this one in
- [12:41] Erinyse Planer: just shakes her head
- [12:41] Alexa Linden: assign to?
- [12:41] Aric Linden: i'd see if viewer wants to front it
- [12:41] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: VWR-8125[c
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8125
- [12:42] Squirrel Wood: has been asked to try latest rc
- [12:42] Gellan Glenelg: 10/Jul/08:" I'll try the new RC when I get home tonight." Nothing since then... re-chase?
- [12:42] Erinyse Planer: didnt we have that one or a dupe a couple of wednesdays ago?
- [12:42] Squirrel Wood: and report if problem persists
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: NMI?
- [12:42] Alexa Linden: since we haven't heard bacK?
- [12:43] Alexa Linden: *Needs More Info
- [12:43] Alexa Linden: up next is VWR-8195[c
- [12:44] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8195
- [12:44] Gellan Glenelg: I think Sammytha is saying she used a transparent texture for skin, but it didnt show as transparent.....
- [12:44] Squirrel Wood: I smell a GTX-260
- [12:44] Gellan Glenelg: But I don't think it's supposed to : transparent skin isn't supported
- [12:44] Squirrel Wood: The transparent effects not work, but cant modify the Lips color, eyebrows color, freckless... Only show in WHITE!.
- [12:45] Aric Linden: cool bug
- [12:45] Aric Linden: This should go to QA for a repro - I have a sneaky feeling this is card/OS related
- [12:45] Aric Linden: lotta good issues today
- [12:45] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:45] Erinyse Planer: might be. might also be the format of the textures they are importing
- [12:45] Alexa Linden: very true
- [12:46] Alexa Linden: VWR-5319[c
- [12:46] Aimee Trescothick: yeah, be good if they could attach the file
- [12:46] Erinyse Planer: if i import .tga's transparancy isnt supported. pngs on the other hand are
- [12:46] Squirrel Wood: png with alpha channel even though its all opaque ?
- [12:46] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-5319
- [12:46] Alexa Linden: trans. prims?
- [12:47] Aric Linden: yeah maybe
- [12:47] Erinyse Planer: thinking maybe..
- [12:47] Squirrel Wood: old system
- [12:47] Aric Linden: I think 5319 is card specific
- [12:47] Alexa Linden: I'm not sure the difference between mouse and camera
- [12:47] Squirrel Wood: see system specs. SL barely runs on that one
- [12:47] Aric Linden: I don't think we support that card
- [12:47] Aric Linden: jinx
- [12:47] Aric Linden: belgian ale
- [12:48] Alexa Linden: ok - I can post the system req. link
- [12:48] Squirrel Wood: 384mb ram....
- [12:48] Aimee Trescothick: replaced graphics card with a Ouija board?
- [12:48] Alexa Linden: hahahaha
- [12:48] Aric Linden: grins at Aimee
- [12:48] Aimee Trescothick: ;)
- [12:48] Aric Linden: i think this is mom and dad's old computer
- [12:48] Squirrel Wood: My suggestion: Upgrade system.
- [12:48] Alexa Linden: VWR-4164[c
- [12:48] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4164
- [12:48] Erinyse Planer: i hate to say it but i think solution would be "time to shop dell's clearance"
- [12:49] Aric Linden: nods at Erinyse
- [12:49] Erinyse Planer: cause i dotn think that thing -can- be upgraded.
- [12:49] Alexa Linden: NMI ?
- [12:49] Squirrel Wood: slow textures: definitely the case.
- [12:49] Alexa Linden: nothing since may
- [12:50] Squirrel Wood: I've had 25 128x128 textures that stuck at 32x32 for an eternity and would not complete loading
- [12:50] Squirrel Wood: So its definitely an issue
- [12:50] Erinyse Planer: as for 4164 i have that issue but i cant repo it consistantly
- [12:51] Squirrel Wood: in a busy sim you see it happen more frequently
- [12:51] Aric Linden: I think Harleen has asked a good question on this one
- [12:51] Bri Gufler: could this be related to asset/inventory server issues? or does it happen all the time with that texture/prim?
- [12:51] Harleen Gretzky: Texture is showing 0x0 also
- [12:51] Squirrel Wood: clearing cache will not fix it
- [12:52] Bri Gufler: I have seen textures not load and say 0x0 during asset server issues. But the problem goes away.
- [12:52] Bri Gufler: (after the server issues are resolved)
- [12:53] Aric Linden: sorry to be dense, where do you see that Squirrel?
- [12:53] Squirrel Wood: ctrl-shift-3
- [12:53] Squirrel Wood: textures load fine in this sim as its not very busy
- [12:54] Squirrel Wood: where it says WxH
- [12:54] Aric Linden: right, thanks
- [12:54] Aric Linden: this could be a bunch of things - not all of which are fixable
- [12:55] Viridian Exonar: sledgehammer and duct tape?
- [12:55] Alexa Linden: mark with last triaged date?
- [12:55] Aric Linden: yes please
- [12:55] Aric Linden: One more?
- [12:55] Alexa Linden: Hi Eata Kitty!
- [12:55] Alexa Linden: sure
- [12:55] Eata Kitty: Yo
- [12:55] Alexa Linden: SVC-1570[c
- [12:56] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1570
- [12:56] Squirrel Wood: camera shift in and out is caused by object behind avatar.
- [12:56] Squirrel Wood: where the object is close to the avatar
- [12:56] Squirrel Wood: solution: turn or step away from object.
- [12:56] Aric Linden: import for server
- [12:56] Bri Gufler: Wasnt there a bug when H4 first came out where this was happening for transparent objects too - but it was fixed?
- [12:56] Erinyse Planer: yep and we've seen this on more then a few wednessdays so im betting this is already imported
- [12:57] Gellan Glenelg: hmmm. I see this a lot... even when completely in the open / no objects near
- [12:57] Alexa Linden: ok - nya, let's se if we can find a dup?
- [12:57] Alexa Linden: after the meeting?
- [12:57] Nya Linden: sounds good to me.
- [12:57] Alexa Linden: and that's it for the day friends
- [12:57] Alexa Linden: a reminder that Bridies' Triage is cancelled on Weds.
- [12:57] Squirrel Wood: Be OSSM and have a good afternoon ^^
- [12:58] Alexa Linden: She's off on a vacation :)
- [12:58] Erinyse Planer: what happened?
- [12:58] Erinyse Planer: oh
- [12:58] Alexa Linden: so I'll see you all here next Monday
- [12:58] Bri Gufler: Take care everyone
- [12:58] Harleen Gretzky: ttfn
- [12:58] Alexa Linden: Thanks, as always for all your help, wonderful pointers and suggestions
