Explanation

Sometimes items are sold in simple containers that require you to "open" them up to get the contents. If you purchase clothing that comes in a box, you will have to extract the clothing objects from the box container and put them into your inventory before wearing them.

How to open a box

To unpack the box, you need to

  1. Open your inventory (CTRL-I)
  2. Drag and drop the box to the ground
  3. Right click on it
  4. Choose Open from the pie menu
  5. A window will open (it may take a minute or two if the box has a long list of items in it) and you can either
    1. Click on Copy To Inventory' in order to store a copy of the objects in your inventory, or
    2. Click on Copy And Wear in order to store a copy of the objects in your inventory and wear them right away, or
    3. Drag and drop items from the window into your inventory.

Once you've copied the items, you can find them in your inventory. They will be in a folder which got the same name as the box you just unpacked. Check your Recent Items tab if you don't see it right away.

Caveats

  • You will need to be on a parcel where building is allowed. It is allowed in case the no-build iconStatus no build.pngis not shown on top of your Second Life window.
