Sometimes items are sold in simple containers that require you to "open" them up to get the contents. If you purchase clothing that comes in a box, you will have to extract the clothing objects from the box container and put them into your inventory before wearing them.
A window will open (it may take a minute or two if the box has a long list of items in it) and you can either
Click on Copy To Inventory' in order to store a copy of the objects in your inventory, or
Click on Copy And Wear in order to store a copy of the objects in your inventory and wear them right away, or
Drag and drop items from the window into your inventory.
