- [15:20] Monty Linden: we push some deferrable rezzing work into a thread
- [15:20] Maestro Linden: if you're trying to rez continuously like that...
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: the basic idea is parallel code instead of sequential
- [15:20] Monty Linden: rezzing objects have three states then: not existing, in trasition, rezzed
- [15:20] Latif Khalifa: I have urged Simon to take into account de-rezzing too, they cause big sim freezes too. So far I have not managed to convice him it was needed.
- [15:20] Monty Linden: and by squeezing the middle time is saved
- [15:20] Sigma Avro: and a 4 one: gosted
- [15:21] Rex Cronon: i am aware what threads r. the thing is that the viewer doesn't tell u if the objects u rez r threaded or not

- [15:22] Latif Khalifa: No, what people call ghosted prims are prims that get removed from simulation, but not from the physics engine, so you end up bumping into invisible walls.

- [15:23] Oskar Linden: and he can't do a lot until he can see how they get made
- [15:23] Latif Khalifa: Oskar, it seems to be the care when derez (talking to inventory server) takes a long time. There seem to be some timing issues when inventory db/asset server are slow to respond.

- [15:23] Oskar Linden: if you guys can ask around and see if anyone knows a set of reliable repro steps for creating ghosted prims I can get Falcon to look at it

- [15:24] Oskar Linden: the issue sounds humorous but actually was a pretty deep issue
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: linden homes are unique in how they use the sim
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: the root prim is off the users parcel but the entire home is on their parcel
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: so they can use full prim allotmens and still have a house
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: encroachment brought a bug though
- [15:25] Sigma Avro: haha
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: the bug overrode root prims parcel script settings

- [15:25] RedMokum Bravin: people cleverly do the same with abandoned main land. so not that unique.

- [15:26] Homeless: they: put a lot of house makers out of business
- [15:26] Sigma Avro: well, am hapy of having a free land, but not the house on it, lol
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: and it affected a lot more than just linden homes for sure

- [15:26] Oskar Linden: people whose scripts were set to everyone would still work of course

- [15:27] Oskar Linden: it was more than doors it was everything scripted in the house

- [15:27] Oskar Linden: the issue was pretty widespread but we got a fix into two of the RC's

- [15:27] Oskar Linden: and moved most of the linden homes to those spares

- [15:28] Oskar Linden: we put it into two rc's so that it would for sure go out next week.

- [15:28] Oskar Linden: and I like this approach better
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: so if you've noticed weridness in that regard now you know the issue
- [15:28] Maestro Linden: There's a separate issue with Linden Homes as well
- [15:29] Latif Khalifa: I never notice those, my whole sim is one parcel
- [15:29] Maestro Linden: which is distinct from the 'broken doors' bug
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: yeah the LH houses do some weird stuff
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: we're working on that too
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: or rather the land team is
- [15:29] Maestro Linden: there are some connectivity issues between the LSL scripts in certain homes and the control panel in the website
- [15:29] Maestro Linden: we're still investigating that bug
- [15:29] Maestro Linden: or rather the land team is
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: besides that the releases this week went fairly well
- [15:30] Monty LindenMonty: Linden suggests that the website code get a code review
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: the megaprimloss issue was not related to any server deploys
- [15:30] Sigma Avro: and that is provides more options to these LHs
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: just a matter of poor timing
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: I'm always pretty open with you guys about causes and technical details but on this issue it wasn't my call so I dont have much more I can divulge
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: it was unintentional and unrelated to server rolls
- [15:31] Homeless: I'll: be glad when the 64m limit is live... will be able to get rid of megaprims
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: individual cases can request a rollback if sims are affected.
