Questions

Your email on your Userpage

Hi, i noticed you had your email posted directly on your page. This is a bad idea because it is easily harvested by spam bots. See here where i googled it. In order you prevent this, you have two options. One, you can add your email address to your preferences, then if a user wishes to email you, they can click on E-mail this user located in the leftmost column under the Toolbox Heading. This keeps your email safe to only those who are logged in and wish to email you, in that is the down side. Alternatively one can encode their email address using HTML Character References. Your email address would display as such:

dirk@dirktalamasca.com
edit This page to see the source
This is what Geobytes.com had to say about HTML Character References:
Use this page to "character reference" encode the email addresses on your website to make
it more difficult for spam bots to harvest them. While the smarter Spam bots will decode any HTML
character reference encoding, the majority of the bots are not yet that sophisticated and will pass
by without seeing your email address.

I hope this helps! Have a great day and Happy Editing! :) ✬Azerial Andric✬ (talkcontribs) 17:21, 1 November 2007 (PDT)
