Sculpted Prims: Current JIRA Issues

It came to my attenion in the Sculpt Dev group that finding sculpted prim issues in the JIRA] bug tracking system is a bit tricky because the name for them hasn't been standardized (sculpt prims, sculpt maps, sculpties, etc. This page is intended to serve as a portal and a soapbox for sculpty related issues. If you're trying to get votes on your proposal, this can help you to get the word out.

- Summary: A quick one-liner describing the issue
- Status: Seeking Votes, LL has adknowledged (meaning they know it exists and a Linden has posted on it but no promise of anything being done), LL is Working on it, Resolved, Closed Without Resolution
Sculpties suffer HORRIBLY from JPEG artifacts
- Link: VWR-866
- Summary: Requests for better handling of compression on small textures such as those in sculpt maps
- Status: LL is working on it
Scuplted Prims: Ability to Import .OBJ Files
- Link: VWR-1110
- Summary: Ability to import files of the OBJ 3d file format directly into SL
- Status: LL has adknowledged
- Note: Dzonatas Sol has released a 3rd party client with this function. Download it here. Remember, only download 3rd party clients that you trust and use them at your own risk.
Scuplted Prims: Ability to Import .3DS Files

- Summary: Ability to import .3DS models (the primary export format of 3ds Max and common with other programs) directly into SL
- Status: LL has adknowledged
VWR-858 Scuplted Prims: Ability to Import .3DM Files

- Summary: Ability to import .3DM (OpenNURBS) format 3d files directly through the SL client
- Status: Needs Votes
Scuplted Prims: Ability to Import .JT Files
- Link: VWR-1387
- Summary: Ability to import JT format 3d files directly through the SL client. JT is the format used by most Mechanical CAD programs (Solid Edge, NX, Catia, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Status: Seeking votes. Needs dicussion of a general solution for loading of collections or assemblies of sculpties.
