[11:01] | Xaria Mistwallow: | how have you been morg? |
[11:01] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hey enk :) |
[11:01] | Morgaine Dinova: | Jeez, WW-I attire? |
[11:01] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol, new av i see enk :p |
[11:01] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | totally Morg |
[11:01] | Enkidu Linden: | hey there! |
[11:02] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | heya Enkidu |
[11:02] | Enkidu Linden: | one of dozens in my collection |
[11:02] | Morgaine Dinova: | Fine thanks Xaria, you? |
[11:02] | Xaria Mistwallow: | fine here as well :p |
[11:02] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hiya Enki! |
[11:02] | Enkidu Linden: | nice to see you all :) |
[11:02] | Enkidu Linden: | let's wait two more for stragglers |
[11:03] | Morgaine Dinova: | Ugh, a bug. Do you turn into a pretty butterfly sometime? ;-) |
[11:03] | Enkidu Linden: | doubtful! |
[11:03] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hehe |
[11:03] | Morgaine Dinova: | Well it's a virtual world, you could turn into .... anything! |
[11:04] | Enkidu Linden: | i could switch to my zombie av |
[11:04] | Morgaine Dinova: | Ew, lol |
[11:04] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | that means chances to turn into a butterfly approximate zero Morg ;) |
[11:04] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hehe |
[11:04] | Enkidu Linden: | actually a metamorphosis animation would be pretty awesome |
[11:04] | Morgaine Dinova: | Yeah! |
[11:05] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | for sure |
[11:05] | Enkidu Linden: | i should find one on Second Life Marketplace(TM) |
[11:05] | Morgaine Dinova: | People have been wanting morphs for a long time. It's even come up in Nyx's OH |
[11:05] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | hulk smash! |
[11:06] | Xaria Mistwallow: | i rather find a way to get my darned pc work properly again without messing up :o |
[11:06] | Morgaine Dinova: | Visions are kinda narrow for new features in LL currently though. If it weren't for meshes, things would be depressing as hell, after a year+ in which progress has been backwards, with M, V2, etc |
[11:06] | Morgaine Dinova: | Thank goodness for meshes |
[11:07] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | I'm sucking up every available tutorial on Youtube at the moment |
[11:07] | Morgaine Dinova: | In which areas, Mel? |
[11:07] | Xaria Mistwallow: | ugh, my avi looks awefull on my laptop :( |
[11:08] | Morgaine DinovaMorgaine | Dinova looks |
[11:08] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | I'll soon be able to lecture about meshes without ever having made one |
[11:08] | Xaria Mistwallow: | looks like a toothpick |
[11:08] | Morgaine Dinova: | Seems OK to me Xaria |
[11:08] | Enkidu Linden: | ok let's begin |
[11:08] | Xaria Mistwallow: | yeah, its the settings of my laptop i guess |
[11:08] | Enkidu Linden: | it's very cold here again so pardon my typos |
[11:08] | Xaria Mistwallow: | it looks compressed to me |
[11:09] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | looks fine to me too |
[11:09] | Xaria Mistwallow: | you guys look okay to me |
[11:09] | Xaria Mistwallow: | just my avi looks awefully thin to me |
[11:09] | Enkidu Linden: | we had an openid release this morning |
[11:09] | Enkidu Linden: | did anyone notice? |
[11:09] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | oh? |
[11:09] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | I didn't, no |
[11:09] | Morgaine DinovaMorgaine | Dinova perks up |
[11:09] | Xaria Mistwallow: | just logged in a few mins ago :p |
[11:10] | Enkidu Linden: | so much for fishing for compliments |
[11:10] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol |
[11:10] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | :) |
[11:10] | Xaria Mistwallow: | I'm Sorry! enk, kinda been away from SL for months |
[11:10] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hehe. Compliments for the stuff we don't know about, Enki! It's great! :P |
[11:10] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hi pepe |
[11:10] | pepe Ixxel: | helllo |
[11:11] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | hey you've got a complete techie dilettant showing up at your OH, that has to count for cuteness points |
[11:11] | pepe Ixxel: | do you speak spanish? |
[11:11] | Xaria Mistwallow: | nope |
[11:11] | Xaria Mistwallow: | none of us do so far i know |
[11:11] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | not me Pepe, I'm sorry |
[11:11] | Xaria Mistwallow: | welcome to SL though! |
[11:12] | Xaria Mistwallow: | oh enk, due to my pc problems as i said, i havnt been able to work on the temple i showede you |
[11:13] | Morgaine Dinova: | I know Spanish, although it's faded through disuse now. But I didn't want to encourage a support convo. |
[11:13] | Xaria Mistwallow: | i could not connect to SL or login without too much lag for months, so could not do that much unfortunately |
[11:13] | Enkidu Linden: | so we had a release of openid this morning that included a change to a single username field and the addition of 'remember me' |
[11:14] | Enkidu Linden: | we are bringing fanciness one step at a time |
[11:14] | Morgaine Dinova: | So does this mean I can authenticate my login using my Google Account as OpenID Provider, Enki? |
[11:14] | Enkidu Linden: | goodness no! |
[11:14] | Xaria Mistwallow: | getting google account on it isnt smart |
[11:14] | Xaria Mistwallow: | google stuff may be okay, but not to mix with things like SL |
[11:15] | Morgaine Dinova: | That's for each person to decide. Google Accounts offer a perfectly compliant OpenID Provider. |
[11:15] | Xaria Mistwallow: | google has the odd behavior of keeping the gained info for potential use for military and police etc |
[11:15] | Xaria Mistwallow: | so best not to mix that up too much |
[11:15] | Morgaine Dinova: | It's for each person to decide. |
[11:16] | Morgaine Dinova: | You can use a different OpenID provider if you want. Or even run your own. |
[11:16] | Xaria Mistwallow: | think LL has a duty to keep their customers save from such things, not give them the option to get fcked up |
[11:16] | Xaria Mistwallow: | I'm Sorry! for the language use :p |
[11:17] | Morgaine Dinova: | Xaria: you decide for yourself. Don't decide for others please. |
[11:17] | Enkidu Linden: | well |
[11:17] | Enkidu Linden: | ok |
[11:17] | Xaria Mistwallow: | i just try to make sure peopel are save :p |
[11:17] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hi paulie, welcome! |
[11:17] | Morgaine Dinova: | Techies will prolly be runnign their own OpenID anyway, if they have a server. |
[11:17] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | What are the consequences of today's improvement Enki? |
[11:17] | paulie Femto: | Howdeh. :) |
[11:17] | Xaria Mistwallow: | come join us! |
[11:18] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | Can we for instance use the username to log different alts? |
[11:18] | paulie Femto: | Hey, web peeps. |
[11:18] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | heya Paulie |
[11:18] | Enkidu Linden: | pretty minor impact i'd say |
[11:18] | Xaria Mistwallow: | melchi, thats more OL style |
[11:18] | paulie Femto: | :) |
[11:18] | Xaria Mistwallow: | think LL wont do that |
[11:18] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hiya paulie |
[11:18] | Xaria Mistwallow: | good idea though |
[11:18] | paulie Femto: | Hey, Morgaine. :) |
[11:18] | Xaria Mistwallow: | sure makes it a hell lot saver, can easily kick out the griefers like that |
[11:19] | Xaria Mistwallow: | also other nice security things can be installed that way |
[11:20] | Morgaine Dinova: | So what does the new feature allow, Enki? |
[11:21] | Enkidu Linden: | the single username field is in support of display names |
[11:21] | Enkidu Linden: | so you can enter Enkidu Linden or enkidu.linden |
[11:21] | Morgaine Dinova: | Yes, but what's the OpenID angle? |
[11:22] | Xaria Mistwallow: | i noticed that on the test viewer yeah |
[11:23] | Enkidu Linden: | i'm not sure it advances our standardization of openid |
[11:23] | Xaria Mistwallow: | the test viewer also shows you can change display names i noticed |
[11:23] | Enkidu Linden: | but we still want to move toward the standard |
[11:23] | Morgaine Dinova: | But what does it do with OpenID at all? After all, you said it was an OpenID release. |
[11:23] | Xaria Mistwallow: | I heared yesterday, not sure if Nyx or Jeremy said so, but that this will not be used |
[11:24] | Xaria Mistwallow: | and peopel should be fast if they wanted to have that viewer version |
[11:24] | Xaria Mistwallow: | so, new version coming up soon then i guess |
[11:25] | Enkidu Linden: | ah, right, so, one of our deviations from the openid standard has been to ask for usernames rather than openid ID urls |
[11:25] | Morgaine Dinova: | It's not much to do with viewer version, except initially. It's a web service, and once it's available, all TPVs will use it too. |
[11:25] | paulie Femto: | Do HUDs not work on noscript land or is it just my malfunction? heh |
[11:25] | Xaria Mistwallow: | no they dont |
[11:25] | paulie Femto: | sorry, OT I realize. :) |
[11:26] | Xaria Mistwallow: | they are using scripts, so wont work :p |
[11:26] | paulie Femto: | i figured so |
[11:26] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol |
[11:26] | Xaria Mistwallow: | enk, thought about getting your own land yet? |
[11:27] | Enkidu Linden: | not too much |
[11:27] | Enkidu Linden: | i've always liked it here |
[11:27] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol |
[11:27] | Morgaine Dinova: | NoScript is a Firefox browser plugin. Neither MoaP nor the built-in browser allow client-side scripted plugins, so no, NoScript will not run, not anything similar. |
[11:27] | Morgaine Dinova: | nor* |
[11:27] | paulie Femto: | oh sorry, I meant that my scripted anim HUD wasnt running |
[11:27] | Xaria Mistwallow: | well i asked since you wanted that temple i made as meeting area, remember? |
[11:28] | Xaria Mistwallow: | you said it around start summer vacation |
[11:28] | Enkidu Linden: | oh, totally, but i was going to put it in my linden-only space for meetings |
[11:28] | Xaria Mistwallow: | oh lol |
[11:28] | Morgaine Dinova: | That's just here, scripts are disabled because we;'re near the newbie island and get griefed with scripts on. (Happened a lot when Which's OH was here) |
[11:28] | Xaria Mistwallow: | okay, no worries, was already wondering :p |
[11:28] | Enkidu Linden: | i don't think my little nook here is big enough for it |
[11:28] | Xaria Mistwallow: | im sure it aint :p |
[11:28] | Xaria Mistwallow: | it takes nearly the entire island :p |
[11:29] | paulie Femto: | this is a comfy lil spot, tho. |
[11:29] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hope i can finish its next version soon, just want to get SL working on my pc again so i can get working. |
[11:30] | Xaria Mistwallow: | darned ATI drivers are messed up once again |
[11:30] | Morgaine Dinova: | ATI+GL is a bad combination, generally. |
[11:30] | Xaria Mistwallow: | morg? |
[11:31] | Morgaine Dinova: | Yup? |
[11:31] | Enkidu Linden: | not much else to discuss regarding openid this week |
[11:31] | paulie Femto: | I dunno if this is OT, but will QTWebkit ever support JAVA in SL? |
[11:31] | Xaria Mistwallow: | what you mean? |
[11:31] | Enkidu Linden: | except that i am pushing for definition on an open communication policy around openid |
[11:31] | Morgaine Dinova: | Probably never, paulie. Only Javascript, not Java. |
[11:31] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | What's in stall for next week Enkidu? |
[11:31] | Xaria Mistwallow: | java is too unsave |
[11:31] | paulie Femto: | JAVA would be nice. Security risk, tho, yeah |
[11:32] | Xaria Mistwallow: | well, to many grievers already, wont need to feed em with yet another thing they can hack eassily |
[11:33] | paulie Femto: | Any news on new features coming in our webkit? |
[11:33] | Morgaine Dinova: | Xaria: ATI has never played very well with OpenGL, they just never seemed to get their GL act together like they have for DirectX. It's always been so. Cory used to rail against ATI's "support" for GL years back, and not much has changed. |
[11:33] | Xaria Mistwallow: | morg, they dont do drivers well at all, period :p |
[11:34] | Enkidu Linden: | no news on webkit except that i'll be trying to attend planning meetings for it soon |
[11:34] | Enkidu Linden: | just so i know what's going on there |
[11:34] | Xaria Mistwallow: | saving for a new pc though, and this time back to NVIDIA |
[11:34] | paulie Femto: | Eki: thx. :) |
[11:34] | Morgaine Dinova: | There is one huge change with ATI now, and that is that when they merged with AMD, AMD got all the ATI documentation released as open source. However, it's taking forever for the community to make open drivers, because 3D is so complex. |
[11:35] | Morgaine Dinova: | So what we have now is an open source ATI that doesn't work well with GL, and a closed source nVidia that works well but is closed and ebil :P |
[11:35] | paulie Femto: | heh |
[11:36] | Xaria Mistwallow: | ATI = AMD |
[11:36] | Morgaine Dinova: | And an open source Intel that works well but is not very powerful for 3D |
[11:36] | Xaria Mistwallow: | they were boughed years ago |
[11:36] | Xaria Mistwallow: | just kept the name |
[11:36] | Morgaine Dinova: | Yep |
[11:36] | paulie Femto: | INtel graphics hardware. snort. |
[11:37] | Xaria Mistwallow: | they just need to kick out the idiots thinking they can script and hire good ones |
[11:37] | Enkidu Linden: | has anyone tried out mesh? |
[11:37] | Xaria Mistwallow: | i just got back on yesterday, so no |
[11:37] | paulie Femto: | yea. looks nice when it works, but seems crashy and buggy yet. |
[11:37] | paulie Femto: | still, amazing possibilities. |
[11:38] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | I haven't yet, still learning the basics |
[11:38] | Morgaine Dinova: | I'm on Imprudence, so not tried mesh. |
[11:38] | Morgaine Dinova: | Ie. can't. |
[11:38] | paulie Femto: | ive tried it using Mesh project viewer and Kirsten's s21(1). |
[11:39] | Xaria Mistwallow: | dont really have the time untill januari anyways, so most likely wont be trying it out untill then |
[11:39] | Enkidu Linden: | how'd it look? |
[11:39] | paulie Femto: | looks stunning on well made models. |
[11:39] | Xaria Mistwallow: | too much going on last few months |
[11:40] | paulie Femto: | u can make crap with mesh just as wiht any other technology. or yyou can make awesom elooking stuff. |
[11:40] | Enkidu Linden: | the screenshots i've seen are wonderful |
[11:40] | Xaria Mistwallow: | did nyx finally update the skeletons as well? |
[11:40] | paulie Femto: | when will we get an updated mesh project viewer? dowe know? |
[11:40] | Enkidu Linden: | i don't know on both counts |
[11:40] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hi atomic |
[11:41] | paulie Femto: | mesh also seems amazingly light on sims. |
[11:41] | paulie Femto: | not much slowdown or lag with lotsa meshes. |
[11:41] | atomic4 Hoof: | hii |
[11:41] | Enkidu Linden: | that's lovely to hear |
[11:42] | Enkidu Linden: | that project has very much been on my periphery but i'm excited about it |
[11:42] | Xaria Mistwallow: | think we all were waiting for it :p |
[11:42] | Morgaine Dinova: | I think it's exciting everyone. Very good for SL, after a period of depression. |
[11:42] | Xaria Mistwallow: | it sure adds a lot to SL |
[11:42] | Xaria Mistwallow: | indeed morg |
[11:42] | Xaria Mistwallow: | we all could use some good news for a change :) |
[11:43] | Enkidu Linden: | i don't think i need to complain about our build tools to anyone here |
[11:43] | Morgaine Dinova: | <3 love good news |
[11:43] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol, if its still the same as a few months back, then please do complain! |
[11:43] | Enkidu Linden: | i learned some maya back in the day and never got much further than making teapots |
[11:43] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hi angelina :) |
[11:44] | Morgaine Dinova: | But Linden could still scupper mesh, if the prim-equivalent cost is made high. |
[11:44] | Enkidu Linden: | with our build tools i can make boxes and balls |
[11:44] | paulie Femto: | nyx seems to say we will be going the custom bones route, instead of using morph targets. |
[11:44] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hi brinda |
[11:44] | Angelina Iridescent: | hi Enkidu |
[11:44] | paulie Femto: | Howdeh, Brinda. :) |
[11:44] | brinda Allen: | hello :-) |
[11:44] | Enkidu Linden: | hello angelinia, and brinda |
[11:44] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lots more peopel coming in for you enk :p |
[11:44] | paulie Femto: | Howdeh, Angelina. :) |
[11:44] | Xaria Mistwallow: | you getting famous yet! |
[11:44] | Angelina Iridescent: | hi paulie! |
[11:44] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hi Angelina's dress and hair. Is the body coming too? :P |
[11:45] | paulie Femto: | hehheh |
[11:45] | Angelina Iridescent: | haha yes |
[11:45] | Morgaine Dinova: | Ah, appeared when zoomed in. |
[11:45] | Xaria Mistwallow: | i see her properly |
[11:45] | Xaria Mistwallow: | no need to zoom in :p |
[11:45] | Morgaine Dinova: | Nice colours |
[11:45] | Angelina Iridescent: | thanks |
[11:45] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | you reached the tipping point Enki, soon the sim will be full |
[11:45] | Enkidu Linden: | it matches your name :) |
[11:46] | Enkidu Linden: | it's only a matter of time before my OH crashes Beaumont |
[11:46] | Angelina Iridescent: | hahaha |
[11:46] | paulie Femto: | :0 |
[11:46] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol |
[11:46] | Xaria Mistwallow: | nice, chat lag again :p |
[11:46] | Xaria Mistwallow: | someone must be coming in |
[11:47] | paulie Femto: | havent we got that multithreaded login code now? |
[11:47] | Enkidu Linden: | ok, there's about 15 minutes left |
[11:47] | Enkidu Linden: | any other technical things to discuss? |
[11:47] | Xaria Mistwallow: | you want to get rid of us that bad enk :p |
[11:47] | Enkidu Linden: | no way |
[11:47] | paulie Femto: | hypergrid? :) |
[11:47] | Xaria Mistwallow: | lol |
[11:48] | Morgaine Dinova: | According to Fast Timers, the main load here is processing Alpha. |
[11:48] | Enkidu Linden: | i will serve until i die or you replace me |
[11:48] | Xaria Mistwallow: | no worries my friend, was just joking a bit ;) |
[11:48] | paulie Femto: | Enki, heh. |
[11:49] | paulie Femto: | hmmm. most of my questions are webkit related. Ill look forward to future news on that. |
[11:49] | Xaria Mistwallow: | ask him :p |
[11:49] | Morgaine Dinova: | Main Alpha is paulie's fur, Angelina's dress, and Xaria's hair |
[11:49] | Enkidu Linden: | not sure if anyone working on webkit has OH |
[11:49] | Enkidu Linden: | so maybe you're stuck with me |
[11:49] | Xaria Mistwallow: | he is the one that most likely knows :p |
[11:49] | paulie Femto: | oh. what aboout web sockets uaing html5? are we into those? |
[11:49] | Xaria Mistwallow: | what about my hair? |
[11:50] | Enkidu Linden: | i like websockets quite a lot |
[11:50] | paulie Femto: | yeah, my fur may be killin the place. is my arc like 5 milllion? |
[11:50] | Morgaine Dinova: | Main load in viewer is processing Alpha. Those 3 are the main alpha here. |
[11:50] | Xaria Mistwallow: | oh, reminds me. I dropping my webspace. So my blog will also be offline |
[11:51] | paulie Femto: | Enk: do we use ws now or are we looking at usin em? |
[11:51] | Enkidu Linden: | i'm not a fan of the handshake to create a websocket |
[11:51] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hardly have the time for it, so most likely will be a waste of time and money |
[11:51] | Enkidu Linden: | well, we won't be able to use them for front ends intended for general browsers for awhile |
[11:52] | paulie Femto: | i remember thye talk of reverse http and such back in the day. are websockets the new answer to that question? |
[11:52] | Xaria Mistwallow: | without being able to do much on SL, I turned to Fallout 3 and New Vegas for modding, so mostly putting in time to that |
[11:52] | Enkidu Linden: | we could probably use them for in-viewer webkit front ends |
[11:52] | Enkidu Linden: | yeah, zero did some work on create a reverse http standard |
[11:52] | Morgaine Dinova: | Hey, Which's old bamboo is alive!!!! When I turn off Character rendering, it's not only we that disappear, but also the bamboo!!! :P |
[11:52] | Enkidu Linden: | the industry appears to have adopted websockets instead |
[11:53] | paulie Femto: | i was wondering if the client used ws for http tex fetching orother things? |
[11:53] | Xaria Mistwallow: | wouldn't it be a idea to allow every user to create their own blog/profile page? just needs to be 1 page big and peopel can add what ever they need |
[11:53] | paulie Femto: | the industry exept for Microsoft who has NO! plans to support em in any future version of IE. lol |
[11:53] | Xaria Mistwallow: | wether its for their shop, personal, or what ever they decide |
[11:54] | Xaria Mistwallow: | microsoft only works for themselfs :p |
[11:54] | paulie Femto: | </snark> |
[11:54] | Enkidu Linden: | i don't think microsoft has the market share to be a leader on that point |
[11:54] | paulie Femto: | IE is still the market leader, but shrinking I believe. |
[11:55] | Xaria Mistwallow: | with the profile/blog idea i was reffering to a extended/better wiki page so to speak, could be fun for some to make great creations on that side as well, within a specific space limit of course |
[11:55] | paulie Femto: | but I didnt mean to derail the convo into snark. heh. |
[11:55] | Xaria Mistwallow: | going above it is possible, but for a price |
[11:55] | Xaria Mistwallow: | could be a nice way for LL to earn some additional money and for us residents to get a nice website/blog/personal thingy |
[11:56] | paulie Femto: | do we use websockets for thinhs like http tex fetching? |
[11:56] | Enkidu Linden: | no i don't think so |
[11:56] | paulie Femto: | juat wondering |
[11:56] | Enkidu Linden: | i could be mistken but i think we use libcurl for that |
[11:56] | paulie Femto: | prolly, yeah |
[11:56] | Morgaine Dinova: | Don't think the viewer uses websockets for anything. What context are we talking about for websockets? |
[11:57] | Enkidu Linden: | here's zero's now-expired reverse http draft: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-lentczner-rhttp-00 |
[11:57] | paulie Femto: | Morgaine, IM just interested in websockets. Just wondering if we used em or had plans to use em for anything. |
[11:57] | paulie Femto: | sorry. accidental caps. not shaouting. heh |
[11:57] | Morgaine Dinova: | Viewer predates websockets anyway, and textures use plain HTTP now. |
[11:57] | Enkidu Linden: | we don't have any immediate plans |
[11:57] | Xaria Mistwallow: | thought zero was booted? |
[11:58] | paulie Femto: | Enki: are we moving other asset fetches to http? |
[11:58] | Morgaine Dinova: | "was lost in the cutbacks", is the diplomatic phrase |
[11:58] | Enkidu Linden: | no idea |
[11:58] | paulie Femto: | k |
[11:58] | paulie Femto: | just curious |
[11:58] | Xaria Mistwallow: | zero was dropped months ago |
[11:59] | Xaria Mistwallow: | along with a lot of the other famous lindens |
[11:59] | paulie Femto: | :( |
[11:59] | Enkidu Linden: | in any case, i like rhttp better than websockets, but i'd take either |
[11:59] | paulie Femto: | same end result, eh |
[12:00] | Enkidu Linden: | rhttp lends itself to event driven development, which javascript is good at |
[12:00] | Enkidu Linden: | websockets don't support most typical socket operations |
[12:00] | Morgaine Dinova: | I'm intrigued by how much processing Alpha requires. If that could be optimized, it woudl have a major effect. |
[12:00] | paulie Femto: | is much (any) of the vieer built on javascript? |
[12:00] | paulie Femto: | *viewer |
[12:01] | Enkidu Linden: | so it's hard for me to see the argument that websockets are better |
[12:01] | Enkidu Linden: | particularly when rhttp is still http |
[12:01] | Enkidu Linden: | but like i said, i will take websockets |
[12:01] | Enkidu Linden: | i do like it |
[12:02] | Morgaine Dinova: | Don't need any of it. You'd think TCP connections weren't bidirectional, lol. |
[12:02] | Enkidu Linden: | as for the viewer, i don't think anything in the binary contains javascript |
[12:02] | paulie Femto: | NO! push afaik, Morgaine. Correct me if Im wrong. |
[12:02] | paulie Femto: | sorry, accidental caps. not shouting. |
[12:02] | Xaria Mistwallow: | omg, time already? :( |
[12:03] | Enkidu Linden: | but the viewer does run webkit for some things, which hits pages that can include javascript |
[12:03] | Morgaine Dinova: | TCP is bidirectional, you can push from either end, there is no actual server and client after the connection is established. |
[12:03] | paulie Femto: | Enki: so far my experiments with javascript pages in the inworld browser have all worked. :) |
[12:04] | paulie Femto: | Morgaine, yeah, but http isnt. |
[12:04] | paulie Femto: | right? |
[12:04] | Enkidu Linden: | right |
[12:04] | paulie Femto: | rhttp and websoclkets solve http issues, if I unersatnd it correctly. |
[12:04] | Enkidu Linden: | http is an app layer protocol, and that's what browsers worry about |
[12:04] | Morgaine Dinova: | HTTP is not bidirectional, which is why rhttp was invented to invert the relationship. But only a webbie who can't work with TCP would feel a need to do that. |
[12:04] | Xaria Mistwallow: | hmm.... few hours and I have a meeting about disabilities, been asked to join in since I have 2 of the wanted subjects |
[12:05] | paulie Femto: | Morgaine: hehheh |
[12:05] | Enkidu Linden: | ok guys |
[12:05] | Enkidu Linden: | time is up |
[12:05] | Morgaine Dinova: | Have fun Enki :-) |
[12:05] | Xaria Mistwallow: | thank you for having us enk! :) |
[12:05] | paulie Femto: | apps are insulated from the tcp layer on purpose. :) |
[12:05] | Xaria Mistwallow: | been fun again :) |
[12:05] | brinda Allen: | partys over :-( |
[12:05] | Enkidu Linden: | but i'm going to the SL Go Center for lunch so if anyone plays Go, feel free to join |
[12:05] | paulie Femto: | Enki: thx. :) |
[12:05] | Xaria Mistwallow: | yeah, way to soon as usually :( |
[12:06] | Melchizedek Blauvelt: | thanks for having us Enki :) |
[12:06] | Xaria Mistwallow: | oh please, do tp :p |
