How to grant the ability to host an event

To give someone the ability to host an event on group-owned land, first create an "event host" role for the group, and then add the person to that role. NOTE: You can also add this ability to an existing group role. To create an "event host" role, follow these steps: Click to display People tab in the Sidebar. Click the MY GROUPS tab. Mouse over your group name, and then click to display details for the group. Click the ROLES tab. Click New Role to create a new role, as shown at right.
Enter A Role Name A Role Title (for example, "Event host") A Description (optional)
Under Allowed Abilities in the Parcel Powers section, check the Allow Event Hosting on group land checkbox. Click Save

Important: Download Viewer 2.3 and make this change today! We will be enforcing this restriction on December 1st, 2010!

Other events features

Several new features are coming for events, including:

• Extending the length of an event.
• Blocking duplicate event spamming, so that your event isn't lost in a sea of spam postings.
• Introducing the ability to add formatting to your event posts.
