  • [13:10 SLT] xstorm Radek: it has a tick
  • [13:10 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: A nervous tic
  • [13:10 SLT] Youri Ashton: its alright xstorm
  • [13:10 SLT] Torley Linden: so -- any particular questions about Documentation in Second Life, or tips & tricks you want to share?
  • [13:10 SLT] Youri Ashton: thats my first try
  • [13:10 SLT] Youri Ashton: of a animation
  • [13:10 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Torley, you look suspiciously like Zoe Castillo.
  • [13:10 SLT] xstorm Radek: yes
  • [13:10 SLT] Youri Ashton: just given it to torley
  • [13:10 SLT] Torley Linden: i'm using Youri's pose; could benefit from a smoother loop but
  • [13:10 SLT] Torley Linden: YES THAT'S IT JEREMY
  • [13:10 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): Torley Linden has pinged you.
  • [13:10 SLT] Youri Ashton: hey jeremy
  • [13:10 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): Youri Ashton has pinged you.
  • [13:10 SLT] Torley Linden: Jeremy called it, i heart Dreamfall. Ragnar Tornquist is like, genius.
  • [13:10 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): Torley Linden has pinged you.
  • [13:11 SLT] Youri Ashton: yeah i noticed :p
  • [13:11 SLT] Youri Ashton: i just installed it about 1 hour ago
  • [13:11 SLT] Torley Linden: oh really?
  • [13:11 SLT] xstorm Radek: Need to find a way to take textures from a outside website and auto update textures on a inworld prim
  • [13:11 SLT] Youri Ashton: was at nyx's meeting aswell, so not that much time in it yet
  • [13:11 SLT] Torley Linden: i'm waiting for the next installment in the saga
  • [13:11 SLT] Gordon Wendt: Torley, oddly enough I have a quick one, more of a comment and that is the listings for the office hours need to be synched to the right locations, Jon and Jeremy's link to one location, Doc Team's listing links to another
  • [13:11 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): Gordon Wendt has pinged you.
  • [13:11 SLT] Youri Ashton: ow ill be happy to give you the new ones!
  • [13:11 SLT] Jon Linden: really?
  • [13:12 SLT] Torley Linden: Gordon, which pages? we should fix those all.
  • [13:12 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: oh what honor, its torley himself :)
  • [13:12 SLT] Gordon Wendt: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours
  • [13:12 SLT] Torley Linden: friendly greetings JaneD :)
  • [13:12 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Wuh oh. I'm not sure I've ever had office hours anywhere but here.
  • [13:12 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: Hello Torley
  • [13:12 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: And the office hours page says it has a calendar link, but it doesnt seem to work for me
  • [13:12 SLT] Youri Ashton: i usually go to almost all meetings
  • [13:12 SLT] Jon Linden: i, too, only remember ever having had office hours here
  • [13:12 SLT] Youri Ashton: as i said some time ago, i like helping
  • [13:12 SLT] Jon Linden: where does the erroneous location point?
  • [13:12 SLT] Gordon Wendt: the google calendar link seems to be down lately as well but I think only Zai Lynch knows how that works so I'll have to bug him about it
  • [13:12 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: did you know that you are really funny, Torley
  • [13:13 SLT] Torley Linden: i had better be, better to make people laugh than cry (most of the time ;) )
  • [13:13 SLT] Gordon Wendt: Mojito, it did work but it's been down for at least the last week
  • [13:13 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I am using Evolution, the GNOME email/calendar thingy
  • [13:13 SLT] Torley Linden: Gordon, yes, i believe that since Jon and Jeremy's listings are... well, Doc Team's listings, the individual ones don't need to be there?
  • [13:13 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): Torley Linden has pinged you.
  • [13:13 SLT] Torley Linden: does that sound right, J&J?
  • [13:13 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: It says it subscribed, but no meetings show up
  • [13:14 SLT] Banana @+ Oz whispers: Courtesy of Realm Developement Casino
  • [13:14 SLT] Gordon Wendt: Up to you guys how you want to format but the ones that are up should be synced at least I think
  • [13:14 SLT] Gordon Wendt: Mojito, it giving you errors only for this calendar, that's what it does for me now
  • [13:14 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Fair enough, Torley. Those are kind of from before we were really a full team.
  • [13:14 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: thats true torley, your contributions have given some laughs
  • [13:14 SLT] Jon Linden: both of them point roughly to the same place
  • [13:14 SLT] Torley Linden: hm, Mojito, i believe SignpostMarv was last updating that calendar (he offered to help provide it after the old Linden-maintained calendar went stale)
  • [13:14 SLT] Jon Linden: there's about a 10m difference at most
  • [13:14 SLT] Jeremy Linden: I think Nyx made an updated calendar as well, but I don't have details.
  • [13:15 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: ok, thanks. Ill check again in a week or so
  • [13:15 SLT] Gordon Wendt: Torley, there was another third party google calendar for awhile but that fell behind Signpost and/or Zai put in the new system which admittedly is over my head
  • [13:15 SLT] Gordon Wendt: it actually pulls right from the wiki
  • [13:15 SLT] Youri Ashton: lol, torley, you are inside the couch ;)
  • [13:15 SLT] xstorm Radek: drats work call on building job
  • [13:15 SLT] Torley Linden: the new system is kinda confusing, i agree, when approaching it aft first
  • [13:15 SLT] xstorm Radek: bye
  • [13:15 SLT] Torley Linden: *escapes from the couch*
  • [13:15 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: who is mading pics here?
  • [13:15 SLT] Jon Linden: be well xstorm
  • [13:15 SLT] Youri Ashton: no, who is that next to lnie
  • [13:15 SLT] Torley Linden: i'm taking some pics :) okay let's see if i can clean up the Office Hours page for that...
  • [13:15 SLT] Youri Ashton: lanie*
  • [13:16 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: Torley, once you told us in a video how to remove all perms when we create prims. How's to do that because i cant find it again?
  • [13:17 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: when i remember well it was a keyboard combination or something...
  • [13:17 SLT] Torley Linden: JaneD, you mean, checking its properties and then unchecking those permissions? describe more please?
  • [13:17 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I just wish perms would stay the way I set them.
  • [13:17 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: to uncheck all permissions
  • [13:17 SLT] Torley Linden: they should Mojito, what problems are you referring to?
  • [13:18 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: When taking stuff into Inventory then rezzing again, some perms change
  • [13:18 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: and whats the topic?
  • [13:18 SLT] Torley Linden: JaneD, yes: right-click an object in inventory, then Properties, then uncheck under "Next owner can".
  • [13:18 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I notice it when packaging up my products into a box
  • [13:18 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I have to go thru each thing checking again
  • [13:18 SLT] Torley Linden: Mojito, that may be because of http://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&questionID=4107 it's confusing, i agree.
  • [13:18 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i know but it usually let the copy or the transfer check but i cant remove all 3 checkmarks
  • [13:19 SLT] Torley Linden: yes, that's intended behavior, JaneD.
  • [13:19 SLT] Torley Linden: you can make something no-copy OR no-transfer, but not both.
  • [13:19 SLT] Jeremy Linden notices that he's stuck between two jellos.
  • [13:19 SLT] Youri Ashton: hey tech
  • [13:19 SLT] Jon Linden: hahaha
  • [13:19 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Yes, #4107 is the problem I have.
  • [13:20 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i want to make no copy no mod no transfer, sometimes i see some prims where are unchecked all 3 boxes
  • [13:20 SLT] Torley Linden: so yeah Mojito, it's safest to (1) set permissions when objects are rezzed inworld or (2) if you do it in inventory, then rez and re-take.
  • [13:20 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Ok.
  • [13:20 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: im shure you maded a video about that
  • [13:21 SLT] Trunkz Tomorrow: howdy!
  • [13:21 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: What about objects inside another object? Like the product box?
  • [13:21 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Same rule applies?
  • [13:21 SLT] Torley Linden: JaneD, there have been some odd permissions glitches in the past. but the general rule is meant to work this way so that the creator has some control over distribution, but it's balanced reasonably.
  • [13:21 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: anyway, its always funny to see your work Torley
  • [13:21 SLT] Torley Linden: Mojito, it should. although i know it can be painful to rez nested contents.
  • [13:21 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: big compliments from here
  • [13:21 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Have to round trip into inv first.
  • [13:22 SLT] Kate Linden gave you Jeremy and the Jello twins.
  • [13:22 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: That is why I have learned to check casrefully with each new release, left I give a customer a NOMOD thing when I meant it to be MOD, or vice versa
  • [13:22 SLT] Youri Ashton: I actually recieved someting in my lost and found folder that was not mine at all, it seemed to be from another resident according to the Linden that created it, not sure who it was tho. but that was in 2007
  • [13:22 SLT] Torley Linden: by the way, there is Tools menu > Save Object Back to My Inventory which can help with that.
  • [13:22 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i want to remove all perms, its far better
  • [13:22 SLT] JaneD DeCuir sighs
  • [13:23 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: save back is disabled?
  • [13:23 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Hmm, nevcer noticed those Save Object commands
  • [13:23 SLT] Youri Ashton: true jane, usually some funny guy with copybot will copy your things even if that wasnt ment to be done
  • [13:23 SLT] Torley Linden: Mojito, they're kind of underrated and have had some problems in the past. but, they can be handy when they do work.
  • [13:23 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: lol
  • [13:23 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Where is doc for them?
  • [13:23 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i use a temprezzer who is against copybots and otherwise....
  • [13:24 SLT] Youri Ashton: even things that are not owned by them are copied, so privat things also get copied easily
  • [13:24 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: when i find a copy of my stuff its like a compliment for my work
  • [13:24 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I believe a copybot can not copy the scripts in an object. True?
  • [13:24 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: yes
  • [13:24 SLT] Youri Ashton: temprezzers may be nice, but dont try to filla complete sim with it, since it will lagg up everything :p
  • [13:24 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Good. Because all my products are basically scripts in side a very simple object.
  • [13:24 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: they save prims and rest i spelled before
  • [13:25 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: Torley, whats your next project?
  • [13:25 SLT] Youri Ashton: if no one else is using it, no problem aint it? :p
  • [13:25 SLT] Torley Linden: JaneD, multiple. Doc Team has some very awesome stuff we'll be announcing on http://tr.im/sltnt when the time is right.
  • [13:26 SLT] Kate Linden: A good best practice when using temp rezzers is to open the statistics bar guide and watch the Region stats while the rezzer scripts are active. That gives you an idea if your rezzer has an affect on Region performance.
  • [13:26 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: and what they do? writing memories about sl?
  • [13:26 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Hmm, JIRA SVC-3947 says Save Object to Inv is broken
  • [13:26 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: ctrl+shift+1, right?
  • [13:26 SLT] Jon Linden: hooray, someone uses the PJIRA!
  • [13:26 SLT] Torley Linden: we've certainly shared memories but Documentation Team are the guardians of the Knowledge Base! http://secondlife.com/kb
  • [13:27 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: ah
  • [13:27 SLT] Torley Linden: and our Tips & Tricks blog i mentioned, and other related resources
  • [13:27 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: fine
  • [13:27 SLT] Torley Linden: Mojito, oh darnit, is it still problematic? :| that's too bad.
  • [13:27 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Well, it is enabled in my menu, so I am not sure.
  • [13:28 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i guess that the perfomance with or without temprezzers is far lower on islands then on estates when i can try my stats bar...
  • [13:28 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: We aer at 1.26.3 here, so maybe it is on again
  • [13:28 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: mainland= around 500 islands= around 80
  • [13:28 SLT] Youri Ashton: temprezzers best work on private islands
  • [13:28 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i hate them
  • [13:29 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: my crashs are more often on islands then on mainland
  • [13:29 SLT] Youri Ashton: specially if there is no bad things around like clubs, casino's, etc
  • [13:29 SLT] JaneD DeCuir votes for melt together all estates
  • [13:30 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: clubs
  • [13:30 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: yes
  • [13:30 SLT] Torley Linden: temp rezzers in moderate amounts can be innovative and helpful; in abundance, yes, they do stress regions (regardless of whether they're on the mainland or private regions) heavily.
  • [13:30 SLT] Youri Ashton: temprezzers usage is actually cheating on the prim limit aswell
  • [13:30 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: or a cage place with poor scripted stuff
  • [13:30 SLT] Torley Linden: it's very context-specific: what else is happening in this (and neighboring, to some extent) region?
  • [13:30 SLT] Dougy Undercroft: sorry, i must go now, greetings to all....
  • [13:30 SLT] Torley Linden: i'm sorry i need to go! have fun sharing, all. thanks for being with us. :)
  • [13:30 SLT] Youri Ashton: temp prims are not counted, so you can go far over the prim limit that way
  • [13:30 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Yes. Exploiting a loophole in the prim limit accounting
  • [13:30 SLT] Jon Linden: be well, dougy
  • [13:30 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: on mainland, Torley?
  • [13:31 SLT] Techwolf Lupindo: I've only encounter one temp rezzer. And it was soly being used t get around the pacel prim limit.
  • [13:31 SLT] Youri Ashton: torley either poofed or crashed :p
  • [13:31 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Temps were intended just for things like weapons, weren't they?
  • [13:31 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: he is joking i guess
  • [13:31 SLT] Youri Ashton: think crash
  • [13:31 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: like usual
  • [13:31 SLT] Lanie Weiser: He could only stay for a little while
  • [13:31 SLT] Jon Linden: torley has a meeting to attend
  • [13:32 SLT] Jeremy Linden: For any sort of application where you might need to rez something you won't care about after a few seconds... In many cases, those could be bullets, pies, special effects, and more creative things.
  • [13:32 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: he is funny
  • [13:32 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: So re-rezing the same thing to get around the limit is cheating
  • [13:33 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: its saving of prims
  • [13:33 SLT] Jeremy Linden: It's not really in the spirit of the feature, but part of what makes Second Life special is that people find unexpected new uses for our tools.
  • [13:33 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Uh huh. Like Open Space sims
  • [13:33 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: lol sl is still chaotic
  • [13:34 SLT] Jeremy Linden: However, using a temp rezzer to do something like keep a house rezzed can be bad, for a number of social and technical reasons.
  • [13:34 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: and why must be the stuff we made less chaotic then the company who runs it?
  • [13:34 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I have seen it done mostly for gardens. The plants keep coming and going
  • [13:34 SLT] Kate Linden: It's taxing on the Region. The asset info is read every 30 seconds. With temp rezzers, the info is read 2-3 times more than a non-temp object.
  • [13:35 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: It would be taxing on the asset server too I would think
  • [13:35 SLT] Kate Linden: The temp rezzer rezzes one object, then a second before the first one de-rezzes, to give the impression of the object staying inworld.
  • [13:35 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i guess the perfomance from sl for anyone is also depending which viewer they use
  • [13:36 SLT] Becky Pippen: this is more of a sim perforamnce issues than viewer
  • [13:36 SLT] Jeremy Linden: That's partially true, JaneD, but enough prim and script activity in a region can be taxing on our servers, which affects everyone in that region.
  • [13:36 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I worry about asset server effects though
  • [13:36 SLT] Youri Ashton: sounds like it yeah
  • [13:36 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: with the usual viewers i crash any 10 minutes and with strange viewers i can run sl for some hours, intersting
  • [13:36 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Asset server load affects a lot more than one region
  • [13:37 SLT] Youri Ashton: the better your pc and connection is, the better performance you will get from SL. do note that you not suppost to keep everything on maximum ;)
  • [13:37 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: Jeremy, thats why i use to test my new rezzable creations always on empty sims
  • [13:37 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): JaneD DeCuir has pinged you.
  • [13:37 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: The better my connection, also the more load I put on the infrastructure too
  • [13:37 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: on laggy sims the rezzer made partially errors in the positioning
  • [13:38 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: In combat sims we are told to throttle back the bandwidth intentionally.
  • [13:38 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: and my upload speed does concern the performance also?
  • [13:38 SLT] Youri Ashton: it only loads what you can see, you can change that setting, but usually its around 250 - 300
  • [13:39 SLT] Youri Ashton: upload is what you send to the person/computer/server you try to reach
  • [13:39 SLT] JaneD DeCuir knows but in similar countries the upload is strongly limited
  • [13:39 SLT] Youri Ashton: everything you type for example will be uploaded as data to the server in this case, your responce is downloaded by others
  • [13:39 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: like a delay
  • [13:39 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Depends on network implementation. upload often quite a bit slower than down
  • [13:39 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: right?
  • [13:40 SLT] Youri Ashton: yeah, there are a lot of countries that limit the up and download speeds
  • [13:40 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: yes, sadly
  • [13:40 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: It is more a technology limitation. Like on DSL
  • [13:40 SLT] Bio Swindlehurst: my upload is 1.2meg
  • [13:40 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: a sdsl is unpayable expensive
  • [13:40 SLT] Youri Ashton: most cases its financially, but some try to keep the money for other things
  • [13:40 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: lol
  • [13:40 SLT] Youri Ashton: 20mb p/s
  • [13:40 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I typically get 800-1200kb up, but 8000kb dowb
  • [13:40 SLT] JaneD DeCuir whines
  • [13:41 SLT] Jon Linden: DSL, in my experience, is much more lopsided in terms of its up/download speeds
  • [13:41 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: yes
  • [13:41 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Does anyone have any questions or stories about the Knowledge Base or wiki this week?
  • [13:41 SLT] Jon Linden: suggestions for things we could include?
  • [13:42 SLT] Youri Ashton: download: 1389.3 KByte/sec
  • (=11114 kbps)
  • [13:42 SLT] Jon Linden: articles that might need some checkin'?
  • [13:42 SLT] JaneD DeCuir whines
  • [13:42 SLT] Youri Ashton: upload: 145.5 KByte/sec
  • (=1164 kbps)
  • [13:42 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Maybe looking for obsolete stuff and removing it or updating?
  • [13:42 SLT] Youri Ashton: just checked
  • [13:42 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Mojito, do you have any particular articles in mind?
  • [13:42 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I remember one of Torley's videos about converting YouTube videos to MP4 that was obsolete.
  • [13:43 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Of course, that was itself on YouTube... so maybe not your fault
  • [13:43 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: only for the jira but thats not your responsibility..
  • [13:43 SLT] Jon Linden: we tried to phase out all the youtube-based videos a while ago
  • [13:43 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Good catch, though. Have you noticed any others?
  • [13:43 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: None come immediately to mind
  • [13:44 SLT] Lanie Weiser: Questions, Questions.
  • [13:44 SLT] Lanie Weiser: I have a about filing Abuse reports. As a club manager I have had to file some. There is very limited space on the report for explaination. Is there a way of sending notecard attachments to the reports?
  • [13:44 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Other than this latest tjhing about Save Object to Inventory, but that was just today
  • [13:44 SLT] Youri Ashton: people always will find a way to play youtube video's on SL unless youtube gets blocked from the servers
  • [13:44 SLT] Lanie Weiser: ooops sorry for the gesture. lol
  • [13:44 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: a good suggestion Lanie
  • [13:44 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Actually, my SL TV just plays them fine right form YouTube
  • [13:44 SLT] Jon Linden: do you typically find that your abuse reports require a lot of explanation?
  • [13:45 SLT] Lanie Weiser: on some, Yuuuuuuuus! i have
  • [13:45 SLT] Lanie Weiser: AAAk
  • [13:45 SLT] Kate Linden: Lanie, if there if you have additional info to go with an AR, you can submit a ticket and reference the AR.
  • [13:45 SLT] Lanie Weiser: the main thing is trying to include chat logs, (proof) of incident
  • [13:45 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Yeah, abuse reports can get pretty detailed. Is it a matter of how much text you're allowed to put in the report, or is the size of the window just too small?
  • [13:45 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: what you do when a griefer was around and putted lots of repeating prims on the sim and all what you see is a unsharp pic? what you try to do when some additional info are not present?
  • [13:45 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Ahh...
  • [13:46 SLT] Lanie Weiser: okay where would i go to open a ticket?
  • [13:46 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: good suggestion, Lanie
  • [13:46 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Support page I think
  • [13:46 SLT] Lanie Weiser: ok i will have to look there. ty
  • [13:47 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I have only filed one AR, and it was about language - would have been nice to include the chat log
  • [13:47 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: the total number of letters is too short on AR
  • [13:47 SLT] Jeremy Linden: If you include an accurate time and the avatars involved, our support staff should be able to take care of the chat logs using their own methods. Maybe we could update our KB article to include some better tips for what to include in a report.
  • [13:47 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Ah, good idea
  • [13:48 SLT] Lanie Weiser: Yes. The window and the alotted allowance for text is too limited
  • [13:48 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: and put the feature back to check who has putted the cubes or whatever on the sim
  • [13:48 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: How long do you keep the central chat logs?
  • [13:48 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: its far more helpful to find its creator when we can read who created them
  • [13:48 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: this ability has been removed a few months ago
  • [13:49 SLT] JaneD DeCuir sadly
  • [13:49 SLT] JaneD DeCuir meant unfortunately
  • [13:49 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Sorry, I can't really talk about how long we keep our logs; that's something I don't really know enough about, and if I give the wrong answer some really bad stuff could happen :-)
  • [13:50 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Just wondering about "discovery" in a court case.
  • [13:50 SLT] Jon Linden: i haven't got any visibility into that, either, unfortunately
  • [13:50 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: The issue came up in one of the discussions about the Adults Only stuff.
  • [13:51 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Interesting. Were any of the Lindens on that project able to provide an answer?
  • [13:51 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: acs? its really embarassing
  • [13:51 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: No - in fact they EVADED answering the question
  • [13:51 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Dont know if that was intentional
  • [13:51 SLT] Jon Linden: there are transcripts of all the public brown bag meetings in the knowledge base
  • [13:51 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: i guess not Jeremy
  • [13:51 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): JaneD DeCuir has pinged you.
  • [13:51 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: The question was, "Will you start logging which people go to the Adult continent"
  • [13:51 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: The answer was "We will not change ourt logging"
  • [13:51 SLT] Jon Linden: look in the "Legal Matters > Policies" folder
  • [13:52 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: it seems nobody likes to handle this big brown bag
  • [13:52 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: anyway
  • [13:52 SLT] Jeremy Linden: It may be. We have to be very careful about what we say in public, especially about our policies regarding fraud, security, abuse, etc.
  • [13:52 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I think of the case of say, a public school teacher, who is discovered to visit the Adult continents in SL.
  • [13:53 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: In some small-minded communities, that becoming public knowlegde could get her fired
  • [13:53 SLT] Jeremy Linden: If one of us says something based on a guess, many Residents will believe it's the absolute truth. That's how all kinds of rumors get started, and then we have to spend a lot of extra effort clearing things up :-)
  • [13:53 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Yes, I understand completely
  • [13:53 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: That is why I sat thru 4 hours of the AO-brown bag audio, to hear LL lawyers explaining what the knew policies meant
  • [13:54 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: better you put upcoming causes in advance to the public then to hear the rumors after about
  • [13:54 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: and its easier
  • [13:54 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: or: think before you do
  • [13:54 SLT] Jeremy Linden: We try, JaneD. In recent months, we have been trying to communicate new policies on the blog long before they actually go into effect.
  • [13:55 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: sounds good
  • [13:55 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: ive told my position
  • [13:55 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Yes, the AO thing (and PLEASE change the name) is much better explained than OpenSpace was.
  • [13:55 SLT] Jon Linden: we're trying to figure out a better name, believe me
  • [13:55 SLT] Youri Ashton: aight, thanks for the meeting everyone! i'm heading over to Bamers Linden's meeting now
  • [13:55 SLT] JaneD DeCuir guesses how long it does need until the brown bag comes to a solution
  • [13:55 SLT] Youri Ashton: bye bye all
  • [13:55 SLT] Kara Spengler: jon: how about 'adult content'?
  • [13:56 SLT] Kate Linden: Thanks for joining us Youri
  • [13:56 SLT] Youri Ashton: always a pleasure!
  • [13:56 SLT] Adorabella Felisimo: when will there be another anouncement about the adults only stuff?
  • [13:56 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: move all the pg stuff to ursula and its done, lindens
  • [13:57 SLT] Jon Linden: what kind of announcement are you looking for?
  • [13:57 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: They already announced the schedule
  • [13:57 SLT] Adorabella Felisimo: anything at all really
  • [13:57 SLT] Adorabella Felisimo: where may I find that at?
  • [13:57 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: you have a link?
  • [13:57 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I learned stuff from those audio files that was not covered in the FAQ.
  • [13:57 SLT] Kara Spengler: tell ppl who do not read the blog, answer the questions of ppl who do, anything, really
  • [13:57 SLT] JaneD DeCuir: a cute avatar
  • [13:58 SLT] Lanie Weiser: i have a question about age verification. Is it going to become mandatory for people to age verified? There have been cases of guests admitting that they were 14 when in a club. If they had not said anything, noone would have known.
  • [13:58 SLT] Adorabella Felisimo: we were promised more info last Friday but did not get it
  • [13:58 SLT] Jon Linden: lanie, i'm not on that team, but i would make a guess that the only people who are going to have to age-verify are the people who want to access adult content
  • [13:58 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: Viewer 1.23 has the hooks in it already for AO
  • [13:58 SLT] Jeremy Linden: My understanding right now is that you only need to be age verified in order to access Adult-rated regions.
  • [13:59 SLT] Kara Spengler: Mojito: why do you need hooks for animation overrides?
  • [13:59 SLT] Lanie Weiser: okay, so on a PG sim, then there are Noooooo! age restrictions?
  • [13:59 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: And having done any financial transaction with SL or Xstreet is enough
  • [13:59 SLT] Jon Linden: and again, you can find transcripts of the public brown bag meetings in the KB under the Legal Matters > Policies folder
  • [13:59 SLT] Jeremy Linden: That's not necessarily the case, Lanie.
  • [13:59 SLT] Jeremy Linden: As of right now, you still need to be at least 18 years old to access Second Life.
  • [14:00 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: But they dobnt check that
  • [14:00 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I think the question was, will that actually be checked at some point?
  • [14:00 SLT] Jon Linden: https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&folderID=253
  • [14:00 SLT] Jeremy Linden: I haven't heard any indication they we'll be changing that policy with the release of AO functionality.
  • [14:00 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: That is what I thought
  • [14:00 SLT] Mojito Sorbet: I have to go. Thank you for a most educational meeting.
  • [14:01 SLT] Jon Linden: you're welcome!
  • [14:01 SLT] Jon Linden: actually, we do appear to have run out the hour
  • [14:01 SLT] Jon Linden: thank you all for coming; we'll be here next week at the same time!
  • [14:01 SLT] Becky Pippen: Thanks guys!
  • [14:01 SLT] Lanie Weiser: Thank you so much for your time. :)
