- [13:32] Whump Linden: okay. shall we get started?
- [13:33] Pixel Gausman: go for it
- [13:33] Julie Wasserstrom: :)
- [13:33] Dahlia Trimble: cool ty :)
- [13:33] Stamo Stuer: lol same here wating till the last minute
- [13:34] Whump Linden: Okay, agenda for today is JIRA status, map space (config), patch status, vacation notices, last minute stuff, and then questions.
- [13:34] Whump Linden: so current JIRA's I'm tracking are here [1]
- [13:34] Orion Raymaker: hi all :)
- [13:35] Whump Linden: [2] is being worked around with the map locations, which I'll get to in a minute.
- [13:35] Whump Linden: [3]
- [13:35] Whump Linden: Is Tao here?
- [13:36] Whump Linden: Tess is working on the content type issue. I don't have an update on it.
- [13:36] Pixel Gausman: question abt [4] ..... is the client supposed to "pretty up" a url (remove trailing '/') before it sends it to agentd, or is agentd suppposed to do that?
- [13:37] Whump Linden: Pixel: good question
- [13:37] Pixel Gausman: ..and i'll look at 8382.
- [13:37] Whump Linden: agent d will be the one that eventually has to handle it, so that may fall to AD
- [13:38] Pixel Gausman: since it's in my code... the prob is that on my system, my 'firstname' 'lastname' is never there when i launch from Visual Studio.
- [13:38] Whump Linden: ah
- [13:38] Pixel Gausman: so i wasnt able to test that part.
- [13:39] Pixel Gausman: if firstname/lastname aren't there, the URL pulldown can't populate the list.
- [13:40] Whump Linden: okay, I'll assign the internal version of 8382 to Leyla, with a note that you're looking at it
- [13:40] Pixel Gausman: ok, thx
- [13:40] Whump Linden: and 8383 I'll move to SVC with a note that the AD needs to sort out leading/trailing bits of the URL.
- [13:41] Whump Linden: are there any new issues that I've missed?
- [13:42] Whump Linden: okay, second topic, claiming space on the map
- [13:42] Whump Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Grid_Public_Beta/Map_Locations
- [13:42] Pixel Gausman: when claiming a space on a map, can people also add a url for the region?
- [13:42] Pixel Gausman: that will let people know how to TP to the region
- [13:43] Whump Linden: If you want your region to be public for testing, sure. I can also start a page for public regions for the test.
- [13:43] Tracy Welles: ah...
- [13:43] Pixel Gausman: ok
- [13:43] Whump Linden: ../Public_Regions?
- [13:44] Xugu Madison: we're certainly free-for-all until it's ready for multi-region grids, as we're bringing up a sepearate grid for the beta
- [13:44] Whump Linden: er ./Public_Regions with a list of OpenSims
- [13:44] Whump Linden: probably should put in what times it will be up.
- [13:45] Whump Linden: questions about claiming space on the map?
- [13:45] Pixel Gausman: whump: is it hard to advertise the vaak region URLs? the ports change every time it gets restarted
- [13:45] Latif Khalifa: didn't really get why x and y need to be multples of 256
- [13:46] Pixel Gausman: Latif: that's related to the "there is one grid" thing
- [13:46] Tracy Welles: And I just put up my X Y coords as it pertains to my own OS server. Not sure what I'm doing quite yet either in terms of how this is supposed to work.
- [13:46] Pixel Gausman: the viewer makes assumptions that all regions are multiples of 256
- [13:47] Xugu Madison: Ah!
- [13:47] Whump Linden: Pixel, we should be able to list those. I'll double check to be sure.
- [13:47] Whump Linden: okay, any other question about map regions?
- [13:48] Dahlia Trimble: just adeded one :)
- [13:48] Dahlia Trimble: *added
- [13:48] Whump Linden: woot
- [13:48] Whump Linden: cool
- [13:48] Whump Linden: okay, Patches and Prebuilts.
- [13:49] Whump Linden: Adam posted a prebuilt off of the second to last Zha patch
- [13:49] Dahlia Trimble: I just built the latest on windows and it went smoothly
- [13:49] Whump Linden: are there any questions about mono and getting it to run?
- [13:49] Xugu Madison: Just built on Ubuntu and it went great
- [13:49] Tracy Welles: Good on debian
- [13:49] Whump Linden: I'll try out Zha's patch this afternoon after the meeting.
- [13:50] Julie Wasserstrom: Also works on OpenSuSE 10.3 (AMD64)
- [13:50] Whump Linden: are you able to use the standard login with the new patch?
- [13:50] Latif Khalifa: Dahlia you're building against opensim trunk + patches?
- [13:50] Dahlia Trimble: you may have problems with physics on debian or 64 bit
- [13:50] Pixel Gausman: that's really important to test, legacy code path.
- [13:50] Dahlia Trimble: trunk + patch
- [13:50] Xugu Madison: login? I only just built it ;)
- [13:51] Xugu Madison: (testing now)
- [13:51] Whump Linden: so Zha's about to head out on vacation for a few weeks, so I don't know who will be working on the patch in her stead.
- [13:51] Pixel Gausman: Also good if we could test regions next to each other that are all running non AD code. Really need to test the legacy stuff if we hope to have it go in OpenSim trunk
- [13:52] Dahlia Trimble: I dont know if anyone understands the patch besides Zha
- [13:52] Pixel Gausman: so that's an issue
- [13:52] Whump Linden: Pixel so those are two new test cases for people to investigate. I'll wikify those.
- [13:53] Pixel Gausman: thx, whump.
- [13:53] Whump Linden: Hi emix.
- [13:53] emix Sorbet: hi
- [13:53] Whump Linden: Okay, so I need to get info from Zha on who will be working on the patch.
- [13:54] Whump Linden: Next, vacation notice.
- [13:54] Pixel Gausman: And maybe some documentation on how the patch works to ease having others work with it?
- [13:55] Whump Linden: yes
- [13:55] Dahlia Trimble: yes documentation would be great
- [13:55] Whump Linden: see what I can get from Zha before she takes off
- [13:55] Pixel Gausman: i'll pester Zha as well
- [13:55] Whump Linden: she doesn't leave until the 9th, so we have time
- [13:56] Dahlia Trimble: anyone should be able to submit revised patches too
- [13:56] Whump Linden: meanwhile I'll be out of the office Wed-Thurs-Friday of next week.
- [13:56] Dahlia Trimble: as long as they agree with the licensing
- [13:56] BlueWall Slade: has anyone applied todays patch to r5712?
- [13:56] Whump Linden: In Denver for the World Science Fiction Convention. Peripase will host the huddles.
- [13:57] Pixel Gausman: Whump: sounds like fun
- [13:57] Dahlia Trimble: its meant for 5710
- [13:57] Whump Linden: oops, patch discussion continuing
- [13:57] BlueWall Slade: no, go ahad :)
- [13:57] Xugu Madison: Tried it on 5712, it compiled, but went with 5695 in the end because it's tested
- [13:57] BlueWall Slade: got it
- [13:57] Pixel Gausman: yeah, this is gonna be a prob as long as we aren't in the trunk.
- [13:57] Whump Linden: everyone is a aware of how to check out a particlar version
- [13:57] Pixel Gausman: hi Tao
- [13:57] Tao Takashi: Hi
- [13:57] Whump Linden: svn -r # <path to repository>
- [13:58] Tracy Welles: yes
- [13:58] Whump Linden: Tao, I had a left over question about the content type header, but will come back to that.
- [13:58] Whump Linden: okay
- [13:58] Tao Takashi: Whump: ok. for now we have a workaround
- [13:58] Whump Linden: any other questions about the patches?
- [13:59] Tao Takashi: btw, do you still do the redirect to the seedcap?
- [13:59] Whump Linden: Tao: and Tess has it in her queue.
- [13:59] Whump Linden: Tao: yes, the last I checked it's a redirect.
- [13:59] Xugu Madison: Not having any luck with standard client login, BTW. Keep getting "Not found region 35184372097024" on the server. Could be a mis -configuration my end though
- [13:59] Tao Takashi: I hope that gets fixed then at some point, too :)
- [13:59] Tao Takashi: We have ugly workarounds now in that lib
- [14:00] Tao Takashi: and does login work again now?
- [14:00] Whump Linden: Tao: I'm awaiting word from operations about the AD's status.
- [14:00] Tao Takashi: cool, thanks :)
- [14:00] Whump Linden: Xugu: that's the existing bug
- [14:00] Pixel Gausman: Xugu: standard client login == legacy non AD login?
- [14:01] Pixel Gausman: oh... Whump, can you make a note to ask Leyla if the client we are using supports XMLRPC legacy login or only LLSD legacy login?
- [14:01] Whump Linden: just a sec, getting an update on the aD status
- [14:01] Xugu Madison: Pixel, yup
- [14:02] Whump Linden: Pixel, I think it's only LLSD, but will confirm
- [14:02] Pixel Gausman: I ask because i think OpenSim only has XMLRPC for legacy login....and the client we have might only support LLSD
- [14:02] Pixel Gausman: OpenSimmers, is that right? XMLRPC ?
- [14:02] Saijanai Kuhn: I think that the patch from Zha intercepts that
- [14:02] Saijanai Kuhn: not sure though
- [14:02] Dahlia Trimble: not my area of expertise :/
- [14:03] Whump Linden: however, since you can override -loginurl you could point to your opensim's login url
- [14:03] Tao Takashi: maybe we can write a proxy ;-)
- [14:03] Dahlia Trimble: lol
- [14:03] Saijanai Kuhn: tried to write a proxy in Python. Parts are easy and parts are really kinda hard
- [14:03] Tao Takashi: and I actually wonder what else an agent domain needs to implement to work properly, just place_avatar?
- [14:04] Whump Linden: okay, stuff for tomorrow's launch
- [14:04] Saijanai Kuhn: rez and derez/place
- [14:04] Tao Takashi: no eqg for AD then?
- [14:04] Saijanai Kuhn: ah, that too yeah
- [14:04] Tao Takashi: and what does it handle? Is that specified somewhere?
- [14:04] Saijanai Kuhn: but haven't seen the code for the viewer so no idea where it fits in
- [14:05] Whump Linden: has everyone been able to login to aditi using the release client and confirm they are in 'gridnauts' there?
- [14:05] Saijanai Kuhn: all I've seen is what Enus published
- [14:05] Latif Khalifa: i was
- [14:05] Dahlia Trimble: check :)
- [14:05] Latif Khalifa: np
- [14:05] Stamo Stuer: yes i can
- [14:05] Saijanai Kuhn: y
- [14:05] Tao Takashi: you mean in that script?
- [14:05] Bartholomew Kleiber: y
- [14:05] Tao Takashi: Tao was in beta
- [14:05] Siddhartha Fonda: yes
- [14:05] Saijanai Kuhn: Tao, right
- [14:05] Tao Takashi: my alt still needs to
- [14:05] Tao Takashi: my alt only was in via script
- [14:05] Saijanai Kuhn: the pyogp.raw code
- [14:05] Tammy Nowotny: oops, I haven;'t tried yet since last time. I am sure I can, however.
- [14:06] Pixel Gausman: whump: i'll try today, havent tried since you added the gridnauts group
- [14:06] Xugu Madison: yup
- [14:06] Whump Linden: if you've been added to 'gridnauts' on agni in the last 10 days, you should login to aditi and accept the invite
- [14:06] Dahlia Trimble: what time will the viewer be available?
- [14:06] Tao Takashi: Sai: pyogp-login.py?
- [14:06] Whump Linden: So Thursday, we're releasing the clients for Linux, Mac, and Windows at 9am SLT.
- [14:07] Saijanai Kuhn: haven't tried it with that
- [14:07] Saijanai Kuhn: was using the pre-svn code login_raw.py or whatever it was
- [14:07] Tao Takashi: no eventqueue in there
- [14:07] Dahlia Trimble: and I can download pyogp to test before that?
- [14:07] Whump Linden: We thought about doing a midnight release, but if there are issues, we'd like to be in the office and fresh to help with them.
- [14:07] Tao Takashi: midnight is in 1 hr :)
- [14:07] Dahlia Trimble: lol
- [14:07] Saijanai Kuhn: right, I think Tess didn't mention the EQG for AD presence until a few days ago
- [14:08] Tammy Nowotny: asks a dumb question: where do we go to get the viewers?
- [14:08] Tracy Welles: I'm non linux, that was my question. What client.
- [14:08] Tao Takashi: it would be great if things would be first documented before they get implemented ;-)
- [14:08] Tao Takashi: or maybe even discussed :)
- [14:08] Tracy Welles: on linux, not non
- [14:08] Saijanai Kuhn: that's why pyogp exists. Trying to start enforcing that
- [14:08] Whump Linden: the download urls will be linked from the wiki.
- [14:08] Whump Linden: I need to get them in the right place on S3.
- [14:08] Tao Takashi: not sure how pyogp can enforce it
- [14:08] Tammy Nowotny: thanks!
- [14:08] Tracy Welles: thnx
- [14:08] Dahlia Trimble: anyone have the url to download pyogp offhand?
- [14:09] Tao Takashi: I see it just breaking constantly ;-)
- [14:09] Saijanai Kuhn: well, if pyogp built from the specs doesn't work, the specsare out of date...
- [14:09] Tao Takashi: [5] ;-)
- [14:09] Dahlia Trimble: ty :)
- [14:09] Tao Takashi: this at least will link to the wiki
- [14:09] Tao Takashi: and one of the first links should be how to install it
- [14:09] Whump Linden: Tracy, this is the Open Grid client that you use to connect to the agent domain.
- [14:09] Pixel Gausman: Whump: what do you think the cycle time will be for getting fixes in the viewer deployed as binaries? In other words, as we get fixes in the viewer, how long til OpenSim devs can get a binary to use that includes it?
- [14:09] Tao Takashi: Dahlia: what OS are you on?
- [14:10] Dahlia Trimble: Im on windows, ubuntu and ubuntu64
- [14:10] Whump Linden: we should have fairly short cycle times once we have a good fixe
- [14:10] Tracy Welles: This is debian 4.0 linux on the OS server end and Ubuntu on the local.
- [14:10] Whump Linden: er fix
- [14:10] Tao Takashi: ubuntu might be easier
- [14:10] Tao Takashi: at least I might be more able to help with that ;-)
- [14:10] Whump Linden: It takes about an hour or so to build
- [14:10] Tao Takashi: for me it does not even start to build ;-)
- [14:10] Pixel Gausman: ok, thx. that's important because the OpenSim devs can't build their own (GPL license)
- [14:10] Whump Linden: ah, that's right
- [14:10] Saijanai Kuhn: Tao, right now Tess and company are more familiar with the client code than with pyogp. I'd expect them to start using pyogp pretty quick though once we get it working
- [14:11] Tracy Welles: ah... right..
- [14:11] BlueWall Slade: :/
- [14:11] Tracy Welles: :(
- [14:11] Tracy Welles: :)
- [14:11] Whump Linden: Stahlman virus.
- [14:11] Dahlia Trimble: probably would be nice if there was a way for opensim devs to talk to the relevant viewer devs
- [14:11] Tracy Welles: lol
- [14:11] Pixel Gausman: diverts discussion abt open source license for another day
- [14:11] BlueWall Slade: at a confessional?
- [14:11] Whump Linden: I can see if Leyla can participate in some of the huddles.
- [14:11] BlueWall Slade: lol
- [14:11] Saijanai Kuhn: well, pyogp is udner apache, so it should be accessible directly by OPenSim folk, even before the viewer is
- [14:11] Pixel Gausman: Dahlia: here i am
- [14:11] Pixel Gausman: talk to me
- [14:12] Dahlia Trimble: will do :)
- [14:12] Pixel Gausman: paints a target on her back.
- [14:12] Pixel Gausman: :)
- [14:12] Dahlia Trimble: lol
- [14:12] Dahlia Trimble: your on IRC?
- [14:12] Pixel Gausman: yeah
- [14:12] Pixel Gausman: suzyq
- [14:12] Whump Linden: So Thursday morning, I'll be available in chat and irc.freenode.net#gridnauts to help coordinate questions
- [14:13] Dahlia Trimble: ok I remember now :)
- [14:13] Xugu Madison: "Why is my server on fire" :)
- [14:13] Whump Linden: I'll ask to developers if they can hang out there as well.
- [14:14] Tao Takashi: so as pyogp is under Apache, am I also not allowed to look at GPL code then?
- [14:14] Dahlia Trimble: is there a url where the viewers will be published?
- [14:14] Saijanai Kuhn: Tao, yeah, Apache is pretty neutral. Zha recommended it for that reason
- [14:14] Whump Linden: Tao, you'll have to ask your Parish Open Source Lawyer about that.
- [14:14] Tao Takashi: not that I would care anyway ;-)
- [14:15] Saijanai Kuhn: IBM lets her look at the PyOGP code
- [14:15] Pixel Gausman: Tao: all i know is that we keep clean bight lines where i work, and we have lots-o-lawyers (IBM)
- [14:15] Whump Linden: Dahlia, the URLs will be linked from the OGPB page on the wiki, and I'll email the URLs at go-time.
- [14:15] Tao Takashi: LL as well, thanks to that we now have license blurbs in every file ;-)
- [14:16] Saijanai Kuhn: Im wondering if it is legal to put a (c) at the top and put the entire liecense at the bottom so you don't have to wade through it
- [14:16] Pixel Gausman: Whump: no beta launch party ? :-)
- [14:17] Tracy Welles: This is the beta launch party... YAY.. :)
- [14:17] Tao Takashi: well, only few projects I am in have that blurb in the files anyway
- [14:17] Whump Linden: I think there will be post-launch Rock Band at the Mountain View lab.
- [14:17] Tao Takashi: and why does it matter whether it's on top or bottom?
- [14:17] Saijanai Kuhn: wiki seems to be horribly slow right now
- [14:17] Latif Khalifa: not working at all for me
- [14:17] Saijanai Kuhn: Tao ask the lawyers. I don't know if it mattrers or not
- [14:17] Catherine Pfeffer: For me the wiki simply does not work tonight
- [14:17] Dahlia Trimble: wiki is dead for me
- [14:18] Whump Linden: yipe, I'll ping RobLa
- [14:18] Saijanai Kuhn: Well, once the wiki starts working again, and you want to look at source code for how login and TP work... [6]
- [14:18] Saijanai Kuhn: easier than wading through the GPLed client and its under Apache as I said
- [14:18] Xugu Madison: There's no actual need for license on every file AFAIK, it's just done incase they get separated
- [14:19] Whump Linden: The latest from Tess is operations is still looking at the AD issue.
- [14:19] Whump Linden: and from robla: pjira/pwiki down, should be back up by 2:15pm
- [14:19] Xugu Madison: that's 4 minutes ago :)
- [14:19] Whump Linden: and it's 2:19... sigh.
- [14:19] Tracy Welles: :)
- [14:20] Latif Khalifa: :P
- [14:20] Pixel Gausman: Saij: the Teleport strawman page is fairly succinct ( but also in wiki prison rt now)
- [14:20] Julie Wasserstrom: wiki is also not responsive for me either
- [14:20] Saijanai Kuhn: he forgot to specify timezone, so he has wriggle room
- [14:20] Stamo Stuer: nope still down
- [14:20] Whump Linden: our provider is working on pjira/wiki
- [14:20] Whump Linden: okay, any other questions?
- [14:20] Latif Khalifa: sai, he didn't mention the date either ;)
- [14:20] Saijanai Kuhn: there you go
- [14:20] Saijanai Kuhn: time horizons...
- [14:22] Tao Takashi: ok, I am off, will boot to Linux and hack at least a little on now.. or write docs :)
- [14:22] Whump Linden: great, thanks for coming out, we'll meet here tomorrow at 9 SLT for a quick huddle
- [14:22] Tao Takashi: thanks, Whump! :)
- [14:22] Saijanai Kuhn: so 9AM from now on, Whump (for the huddle)?
- [14:22] Whump Linden: I'll ping the groups as there are updates on Wiki, PJira and AD.
- [14:22] Tao Takashi: cya tomorrow! looking then if my AD works
- [14:22] Whump Linden: Saij, yes
- [14:22] Dahlia Trimble: thanks :)
- [14:22] Latif Khalifa: thanks whump
- [14:22] Saijanai Kuhn: even wed?
- [14:23] Tammy Nowotny: Thanks Whump!
- [14:23] Catherine Pfeffer: 18:00 CEST
- [14:23] Whump Linden: yes, for the short term
- [14:23] Saijanai Kuhn: KK changing wkik once I can
- [14:23] Xugu Madison: Thanks Whump!
- [14:23] Whump Linden: if you're in Denver and at WorldCon, we should do a meetup
- [14:23] Whump Linden: I'll buy the first round
- [14:23] Orion Raymaker: ty :)
- [14:23] Pixel Gausman: have a great trip Whump
- [14:24] Whump Linden: thanks
- [14:24] Dahlia Trimble: vacation Whump?
- [14:24] Saijanai Kuhn: Whump is a sci fi Otaku
- [14:24] Whump Linden: Yes, nerd vacation.
- [14:24] Tracy Welles: lol
- [14:24] Bartholomew Kleiber: bye all
- [14:24] Dahlia Trimble: those are fun :)
- [14:24] Tracy Welles: :)
- [14:24] Julie Wasserstrom: Oh Whump - do you still give out bears?
- [14:24] Whump Linden: Julie, yes.
- [14:24] Julie Wasserstrom: :) please?
- [14:25] Dahlia Trimble: lol
- [14:25] Pixel Gausman: shrugs at the collectos
- [14:25] Bartholomew Kleiber: me too!
- [14:25] Saijanai Kuhn: WHump should givev at little rockets with a bear prim on them. That rocket is a blast (ouch)
- [14:25] Julie Wasserstrom: thank you!
- [14:25] Stamo Stuer: can i grab one too while your at it Whump
- [14:25] Tammy Nowotny: me three
- [14:25] Whump Linden: Yes, try the rocket. Click the handle. Sit on the rocket. I think up to six can sit on it
- [14:25] Widget Whiteberry: me four
- [14:25] Bartholomew Kleiber: me! me!
- [14:26] Orion Raymaker: lol
- [14:26] Dahlia Trimble: linden bear collectors, vote for my jira! SVC-2648 once jira comes up again :)
- [14:26] Bartholomew Kleiber: @dahlia: seen it , very good
- [14:27] Dahlia Trimble: lol
- [14:27] Stamo Stuer: ty Whump
- [14:27] Dahlia Trimble: gotta go... bye all :)
- [14:27] Tammy Nowotny: ooh TY Whump
- [14:27] Bartholomew Kleiber: ty
- [14:27] Widget Whiteberry: ty Whump
- [14:27] Widget Whiteberry: does this make me cool?
- [14:27] Whump Linden: okay, gotta dash, see you all tomorrow!
