Agenda

  • [15:10] Aric Linden: hey gigs, did you happen to get a search results for creating the agenda?
  • [15:10] Saijanai Kuhn: Whats up?
  • [15:10] Multi Gadget: v1.52.0: Wyn Galbraith
  • [15:10] Gareth Ellison: just a quick n00b question here - are we only discusing issues with JIRA references or is it legit to raise new ones?
  • [15:10] Aric Linden: I'm just wondering if you noticed any burning issues
  • [15:10] Gigs Taggart: not done yet
  • [15:10] Aric Linden: kk
  • [15:11] Gareth Ellison: if it is legit to raise new issues i'd like to mention the state of group IMs
  • [15:11] Aric Linden: Gareth, it's preferable to work through jira issues
  • [15:11] Rob Linden: Gareth: only stuff in JIRA, and items on the agenda get first dibs
  • [15:11] Aric Linden: The group IM issue is known and being worked internally.
  • [15:11] Aric Linden: but thanks for bringing it up
  • [15:11] Gareth Ellison: ok
  • [15:11] Gigs Taggart: oh ffs
  • [15:11] Gigs Taggart: the wiki mangled the agenda
  • [15:11] Gigs Taggart: one more second
  • [15:12] Aric Linden: So I got an iphone.
  • [15:12] Daedalus Young: cool
  • [15:12] Soft Linden: #$%@#
  • [15:12] Squirrel Wood: Oooo Soft! Did the havok team scream at you for the roller coaster issue yet? ^^
  • [15:12] Saijanai Kuhn: gasp
  • [15:12] Milo Linden: booo
  • [15:12] Saijanai Kuhn: does it run the SL cdhat browser?
  • [15:12] Aric Linden: i didn't think i'd like it but it's actually really cool
  • [15:12] Soft Linden: Squirrel - that's filed internally - haven't seen anyone pounce on it -just- yet!
  • [15:12] Gigs Taggart: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/2007-10-15
  • [15:12] Saijanai Kuhn: chat brwoser?
  • [15:12] Gigs Taggart: ok it's done
  • [15:12] Gigs Taggart: lets go
  • [15:13] Soft Linden: Got an iPhone last week too. I'm way big on audiobooks. Having the built-in speaker for that is *great* bedside.
  • [15:13] Aric Linden: love gigs for agenda wrangling
  • [15:13] Aric Linden: it's a pretty dang cool device
  • [15:13] Soft Linden: Day is gigsaved
  • [15:14] Milo Linden: can i claim one on expenses?
  • [15:14] Aric Linden: VWR-2685
  • [15:14] Aric Linden: milo, only when it starts running the client
  • [15:14] Soft Linden: [1]
  • [15:14] Aric Linden: and we need to test it
  • [15:14] Milo Linden: haha
  • [15:14] Soft Linden: Oh, whoops
  • [15:14] Aric Linden: VWR-2685
  • [15:14] Aric Linden: Possible crash in bounding box (getBoundingBoxAgent()) from hud attachments
  • [15:14] Aric Linden: This one, obviously, is a patch
  • [15:15] Gigs Taggart: he looks like he knows what he's talking about
  • [15:15] Aric Linden: yep. i think so too
  • [15:15] Aric Linden: take?
  • [15:15] Soft Linden: I'd like to take that and run it past whoever had the no refcount comment
  • [15:16] Soft Linden: In the writeup, it mentions that there was a comment in the source asking that he not do what he did as a side-effect of the change. Should double-check to be sure it's 100% okay :)
  • [15:16] Multi Gadget: v1.52.0: Wyn Galbraith
  • [15:17] Aric Linden: ok
  • [15:17] Aric Linden: thanks soft
  • [15:17] Aric Linden: VWR-2684
  • [15:17] Aric Linden: Minor leak in floaters using layoutstacks
  • [15:17] Gigs Taggart: soft: see, that's why I'm pro-signed-comments :(
  • [15:18] Soft Linden: Yeah, especially with the fun of tracing blames back through svn merges.
  • [15:18] Aric Linden: I'm stupid, what does Nicholaz mean by leave over?
  • [15:19] Squirrel Wood: improper cleanup ?
  • [15:19] Aric Linden: Squirrel, that's what I was thinking too, but I wasn't sure
  • [15:19] Soft Linden: The patch looks straightforward and simple, and Nicholaz has a good history with this type of patch - should take it in.
  • [15:19] Gigs Taggart: well, his memory leak patches are usualy sound
  • [15:19] Aric Linden: fine w/me. thanks
  • [15:20] Aric Linden: VWR-2683
  • [15:20] Aric Linden: I'm ripping today
  • [15:20] Aric Linden: Possible crash accessing dead llviewerregion
  • [15:21] Aric Linden: This one looks like a keeper
  • [15:21] Soft Linden: Also looks clean - yup!
  • [15:22] Aric Linden: VWR-2681
  • [15:22] Aric Linden: Populate the Resident Chooser list with avatars within chat distance
  • [15:22] Gigs Taggart: the reason behind this bug is to encourage people to use the resident chooser, so they won't set land to "anyone" and then cry about land bots
  • [15:23] Gareth Ellison: will get on JIRA before next time - bye for now
  • [15:24] Aric Linden: Bye Gareth
  • [15:24] Soft Linden: He mentions in the comments that he's going to follow up with another version of the patch fixing the ability to select "No results found" as an agent.
  • [15:24] Daedalus Young: bye
  • [15:24] Soft Linden: So I reckon it would be premature to import it yet.
  • [15:24] Aric Linden: hmm. I thought he was going to post a second patch for that
  • [15:24] Aric Linden: hard to tell exactly what he means
  • [15:24] Alexa Linden: want me to follow up?
  • [15:24] Soft Linden: I'll ask in a comment
  • [15:24] Milo Linden: im wondering if that would also populate the person picker when filing an abuse report, ie within chat range?
  • [15:24] Aric Linden: perhaps we should clarify with him before doing anything
  • [15:25] Aric Linden: Alexa, are you note taking today?
  • [15:25] Alexa Linden: yes
  • [15:25] Squirrel Wood: narrowing down the list of names significantly DOES help
  • [15:25] Aric Linden: excellent. thanks. are you updating as well?
  • [15:25] Gigs Taggart: Milo I believe this works on any person chooser
  • [15:25] Alexa Linden: I will be, yes
  • [15:25] Alexa Linden: we are on our 4th jira
  • [15:26] Aric Linden: ok. so can you incorporate the questions raised by milo and soft and I?
  • [15:26] Squirrel Wood: Mayhaps an option to "only show names younger than n days" would fit in there too?
  • [15:26] Alexa Linden: for this task, yes
  • [15:26] Soft Linden: Ah, sorry - I jumped ahead. I already posted a question to the JIRA.
  • [15:26] Alexa Linden: np
  • [15:26] Aric Linden: cool enuf.
  • [15:26] Aric Linden: grins at soft
  • [15:26] Alexa Linden: I can follow up inworld
  • [15:27] Aric Linden: SVC-29
  • [15:27] Aric Linden: Ok
  • [15:27] Aric Linden: XMLRPC sporadically (but usually) very slow
  • [15:27] Aric Linden: I completely disbelieve this one.
  • [15:27] Aric Linden: laughs
  • [15:27] Milo Linden: haha
  • [15:27] Soft Linden: As if :>
  • [15:28] Soft Linden: I can't believe this isn't already imported.
  • [15:28] Soft Linden: I'll search here - I'm sure there's an extant internal issue
  • [15:28] Milo Linden: well, since the jira was filed the machine doing xmlrpc has been upgraded
  • [15:28] Daedalus Young: it was fixed earlier, but reopened with comment:
  • [15:28] Daedalus Young: XML-RPC calls from an external source (PHP), to an SL object appears to be going unheard for periods of time, then functioning for other periods of time.
  • [15:28] Saijanai Kuhn: sounds like the group IM bug actually...
  • [15:29] Rob Linden: this seems like one of those issues that's non-specific enough to constantly be reopened
  • [15:29] Aric Linden: I agree Rob. In addition, this now raises an another question: question: is there an other way for connection then XML-RPC or is this the only way?
  • [15:30] Aric Linden: I believe the answer is NO. Anyone?
  • [15:30] Milo Linden: yes
  • [15:30] Daedalus Young: e-mail?
  • [15:30] Milo Linden: email, httprequest
  • [15:30] Squirrel Wood: email. yes. but that can take hours to arrive inworld
  • [15:31] Soft Linden: SL-33824
  • [15:31] Gigs Taggart: httprequest works
  • [15:31] Gigs Taggart: donovan even showed httprequest push with comet
  • [15:31] Gigs Taggart: which is very cool
  • [15:31] Milo Linden: both email and xml are subject to the problem of being a central service
  • [15:31] Milo Linden: while http is distributed
  • [15:32] Soft Linden: Supposedly, this issue would be a duplicate of SVC-1, however I can't view SVC-1.
  • [15:32] Gigs Taggart: you might want to talk with donovan to see if there's anything that can be done to help make http push with comet work better from LSL
  • [15:32] Gigs Taggart: because that would replace pretty much every use of XMLRPC
  • [15:33] Wyn Galbraith: That issue number does not compute for me.
  • [15:33] Soft Linden: anyway, SL-33824 relates to the XMLRPC performance in SVC-29. It could just be attached to that.
  • [15:33] Aric Linden: And we should probably update this one to respond to the question raised
  • [15:34] Alexa Linden: noted
  • [15:34] Aric Linden: are we ready to move along?
  • [15:34] Wyn Galbraith: I get the message that SL-33824 does not exist.
  • [15:34] Alexa Linden: nods
  • [15:34] Soft Linden: Alexa, are you doing the imports and linking?
  • [15:35] Alexa Linden: I will be after the meeting, yes
  • [15:35] Soft Linden: Rock!
  • [15:35] Soft Linden: Wyn - that's an internal JIRA number. When we import issues and assign them to devs, they get SL- tags.
  • [15:36] Wyn Galbraith: Oh, I see. Thanks.
  • [15:36] Rob Linden: (now DEV- tags)
  • [15:36] Aric Linden: MISC-571
  • [15:36] Gigs Taggart: I bet MISC-571 often happens because the user has the owner of the vendor muted. There was some stuff Able was doing to make a patch for "autounmute" on interaction that would address that nicely. If you interact with someone then they should be unmuted.
  • [15:36] Rob Linden: (there was a big overhaul of internal JIRA)
  • [15:36] Aric Linden: or QAR tags
  • [15:36] Aric Linden: Items not delivered after buying
  • [15:37] Alexa Linden: happens all the time with lag
  • [15:37] Soft Linden: I've intentionally gone shopping when the grid's in a bad state - not hard to make this happen.
  • [15:38] Alexa Linden: I watch the level on a sim before buying
  • [15:38] Rob Linden: (QAR sounds like a villianous beast in a fantasy novel .... "the village was destroyed because the elders angered Qar")
  • [15:38] Alexa Linden: people just keep going without paying attention to see if transactions are going through
  • [15:38] Aric Linden: Rob: Yep. and I'm the owner: bwaahhhahahaa
  • [15:38] Saijanai Kuhn: Qarl is known for letting his Qube fall on unsuspecting villagers...
  • [15:39] Gigs Taggart: is there loss metrics in place for this failure?
  • [15:39] Soft Linden: There are really at least two bugs here. Because sometimes things will show at next login, and sometimes they just never arrive.
  • [15:39] Gigs Taggart: and sometimes the person is muted :)
  • [15:39] Alexa Linden: or somethimes they arrive and you don't get the notification of delivery
  • [15:39] Aric Linden: I'd like to import this and pass it to Hamilton for his group to investigate
  • [15:39] Daedalus Young: or Busy
  • [15:39] Gigs Taggart: if you have someone muted you can pay their vendor but never get the item
  • [15:39] Soft Linden: I'm not sure there's anything on this particular mode of failure unless it happens to coincide with another problem we're looking at.
  • [15:39] Alexa Linden: marked
  • [15:39] Soft Linden: Yeah, that sounds best Aric.
  • [15:40] Soft Linden: Hamilton will work with one of his brilliant metrics programmers!
  • [15:40] Aric Linden: grins
  • [15:40] Aric Linden: SVC-507
  • [15:41] Aric Linden: I can't login: "Unable to connect. Login packet never received by login server."
  • [15:41] Gigs Taggart: 507 is imported, but there's a problem with the Issue ID
  • [15:41] Gigs Taggart: it caused it to be sorted with the unimported bugs
  • [15:41] Gigs Taggart: so someone check that please
  • [15:41] Gigs Taggart: (space at the beginning maybe?)
  • [15:42] Aric Linden: Oh yeah. I remember discussing this at the internal triage
  • [15:42] Gigs Taggart: yeah, just check that field and lets move on :)
  • [15:42] Soft Linden: Problem with the issue ID?
  • [15:42] Gigs Taggart: yeah, it sorted with the empty IDs
  • [15:42] Gigs Taggart: or something
  • [15:42] Rob Linden: is looking...go ahead and move on
  • [15:42] Daedalus Young: the field looks fine when I check it in Edit
  • [15:43] Aric Linden: MISC-334
  • [15:43] Gigs Taggart: so maybe it's a meta-bug for a jira sorting problem? :P
  • [15:43] Daedalus Young: you can file a bug report for that
  • [15:43] Daedalus Young: :P
  • [15:43] Aric Linden: Looks like another for Hamilton
  • [15:43] Rob Linden: we angered qar
  • [15:43] Gigs Taggart: heh I just copied the bugs as they sorted
  • [15:43] Gigs Taggart: I didn't have time to do anything else
  • [15:43] Gigs Taggart: no one made the agenda ahead of time :(
  • [15:44] Aric Linden: The wrath of QAR is mighty
  • [15:44] Daedalus Young: Qar causes inventory loss on this issue
  • [15:44] Aric Linden: His seed grant is always waiting
  • [15:44] Alexa Linden: action on this item?
  • [15:45] Aric Linden: import and assign to hamilton
  • [15:45] Alexa Linden: noted
  • [15:45] Aric Linden: VWR-1405
  • [15:46] Aric Linden: llMapDestination does not work as designed for OS X/Intel viewers
  • [15:46] Gigs Taggart: weird one!
  • [15:46] Gigs Taggart: I guess there's something implementation specific in a vector class
  • [15:46] Gigs Taggart: import
  • [15:46] Object: Hello,: Avatar!
  • [15:46] Alexa Linden: assign to?
  • [15:47] Gigs Taggart: whoever does llmath
  • [15:47] Alexa Linden: noted
  • [15:47] Gigs Taggart: hehe
  • [15:47] Aric Linden: Alexa, assign it to triage
  • [15:47] Daedalus Young: your cube does place a beacon in Boksik, but at the coords I am now
  • [15:48] Alexa Linden: got it
  • [15:48] Soft Linden: Hmm
  • [15:48] Aric Linden: alexa, as a point of reference, unless otherwise specified, please assign everything we import to me
  • [15:48] Daedalus Young: on second touch it places a beacon at Peddle 0,126,25
  • [15:48] Aric Linden: or, leave it open
  • [15:48] Alexa Linden: ok
  • [15:49] Aric Linden: I process new open bugs weekly.
  • [15:49] Soft Linden: Yeah, definitely something broken there. Shouldn't vary from first to second click.
  • [15:49] Aric Linden: sorry, new UNASSIGNED bugs
  • [15:49] Alexa Linden: right
  • [15:49] Gigs Taggart: 1405 should be also tagged for open source
  • [15:50] Gigs Taggart: it's probably an easy fix for someone with an intel mac to test with
  • [15:50] Aric Linden: are we ready for VWR-1286?
  • [15:50] Gigs Taggart: yeah
  • [15:50] Aric Linden: ok VWR-1286
  • [15:50] Aric Linden:  :)
  • [15:50] Aric Linden: alt-zooming on hollow face mishandled
  • [15:50] Gigs Taggart: oh, I'm working on a patch for that
  • [15:50] Gigs Taggart: if you could pass over it for now
  • [15:51] Aric Linden: cool. thanks gigs!
  • [15:51] Alexa Linden: gigs, do you want to add that in the comments or shall I?
  • [15:51] Daedalus Young: that's great, a much wanted bug fix, I think
  • [15:51] Gigs Taggart: alexa: you can, I'm tagging the last one for open source right now :)
  • [15:51] Alexa Linden: k
  • [15:51] Gigs Taggart: it's already assigned to me
  • [15:51] Aric Linden: VWR-811\
  • [15:51] Aric Linden: VWR-811
  • [15:52] Aric Linden: Repeated "else if" statements throw syntax error
  • [15:52] Daedalus Young: 811 appears to only appear on Windows, and only in the official viewer, Nich's is fine
  • [15:53] Soft Linden: I could have sworn we imported 811 already
  • [15:53] Soft Linden: Or a similar one, just last week
  • [15:53] Gigs Taggart: it does seem like something we've triaged before
  • [15:53] Gigs Taggart: but 811 means it's old
  • [15:53] Gigs Taggart: hmm
  • [15:53] Aric Linden: I don't recall it from last week, but sometimes my brain is a sieve
  • [15:54] Gigs Taggart: wonder if we imported a newer one
  • [15:54] Daedalus Young: let's ask Google
  • [15:55] Gigs Taggart: I don't see any other one
  • [15:55] Daedalus Young: [2]
  • [15:55] Aric Linden: let's take it
  • [15:55] Alexa Linden: import then
  • [15:55] Alexa Linden: ok
  • [15:55] Daedalus Young: Ingmar Hupp pointed to VWR-811, which had been marked as resolved, but still appears to be a problem. This causes a problem with a long series of else-if pairs. Phoenix Linden promised to investigate.
  • [15:55] Aric Linden: if it gets marked as a dupe so be it
  • [15:55] Gigs Taggart: oh yeah, must have been on sldev then
  • [15:55] Aric Linden: VWR-2207
  • [15:55] Daedalus Young: all I could find
  • [15:56] Aric Linden: Looped animations drift in the torso when uploaded
  • [15:56] Squirrel Wood: isn't this a deliberately set limit in LSL ?
  • [15:56] Gigs Taggart: is this the same as one we imported last week too?
  • [15:56] Gigs Taggart: I think we did one just like 2207 recently
  • [15:56] Squirrel Wood: (811)
  • [15:56] Aric Linden: yep. that one I remember from last week
  • [15:56] Gigs Taggart: squirrel, no
  • [15:56] Aric Linden: the 2207-like one
  • [15:57] Gigs Taggart: VWR-2387
  • [15:57] Gigs Taggart: mark 2207 dup 2387
  • [15:57] Soft Linden: These are releated at the least.
  • [15:57] Gigs Taggart: 2387 has repro files
  • [15:57] Daedalus Young: HealthStar Says: August 23rd, 2007 at 2:43 PM PDT Well, the restart went thru my sim. It had no effect on the animation float bug. My ticket on it was “resolved”, but I can assure everyone that the problem still exists. This issue is not affecting only myself, I have talked to many people that are having issues with it.
  • [15:57] Daedalus Young: [3]
  • [15:58] Alexa Linden: will mark as dup
  • [15:58] Daedalus Young: is about 2207
  • [15:58] Aric Linden: I think it's worth linking to the one we worked last week
  • [15:58] Aric Linden: That one got taken by, I think, blacklight
  • [15:58] Aric Linden: but more data might be useful
  • [15:58] Alexa Linden: do you have that item number?
  • [15:59] Aric Linden: I don't, but I could maybe track it down.
  • [15:59] Gigs Taggart: 2387
  • [15:59] Alexa Linden: thank you Gigs
  • [15:59] Aric Linden: thanks gigs
  • [16:00] Aric Linden: SVC-444
  • [16:00] Aric Linden: I think this one is made for phoenix and the SD meetings
  • [16:00] Aric Linden: is just kidding
  • [16:00] Gigs Taggart: SD?
  • [16:00] Gigs Taggart: SVC-444 is actually a VWR issue
  • [16:01] Gigs Taggart: the viewer could be a lot smarter about detecting connection loss
  • [16:01] Alexa Linden: I will move to vwr
  • [16:01] Aric Linden: And the repro steps aren't really the best in the world, i'm afraid
  • [16:01] Gigs Taggart: it happens all the time
  • [16:01] Wyn Galbraith: I saw this today.
  • [16:01] Gigs Taggart: every day
  • [16:01] Alexa Linden: want me to post a request?
  • [16:01] Wyn Galbraith: My mini-map turns red.
  • [16:02] Gigs Taggart: I've got a repro:
  • [16:02] Aric Linden: Gigs, I agree with you about that, but I don't think this is the same as the silent failure that we seen internally all the time
  • [16:02] Gigs Taggart: 1. Unplug the network cable. :)
  • [16:02] Gigs Taggart: done
  • [16:02] Aric Linden: yeah, yeah, I'm talking about a different issue. sorry
  • [16:02] Gigs Taggart: Aric, in what way?
  • [16:02] Gigs Taggart: It appears they are talking about connection losses of various kinds.
  • [16:03] Aric Linden: don't know. but some internal users have consistent problems with silent crashes; they lose presence, but continue to have voice
  • [16:03] Gigs Taggart: hmm
  • [16:03] Wyn Galbraith: Happens in laggy sims.
  • [16:03] Alexa Linden: yes
  • [16:03] Gigs Taggart: there's probably 5 different bugs here really
  • [16:03] Gigs Taggart:  :)
  • [16:03] Wyn Galbraith: Happened to me 3 times this morning.
  • [16:03] Aric Linden: exactly gigs
  • [16:03] Squirrel Wood: when the sim goes down and the map turns red, voice stays connected and active.
  • [16:03] Wyn Galbraith: I was at Skidz Isle.
  • [16:03] Soft Linden: Thinking the same thing. It's worth asking the original poster if her experience is something other than what's in the comments.
  • [16:04] Aric Linden: well, Wyn, we don't see it on laggy sims per se, but it's good to know that you see it there
  • [16:04] Rob Linden: the fact that voice stays connected is a really convenient misfeature, even if it is a misfeature
  • [16:04] Wyn Galbraith: Sim was up, but lagging badly. Dumped me red mini-map three times. Well that's a good place to see it.
  • [16:04] Aric Linden: Agreed, Soft/Alexa - once we have comments, we can import it
  • [16:04] Alexa Linden: k - will move to vwr in the mean time
  • [16:05] Aric Linden: The repro here is a pretty straight forward stress test
  • [16:05] Gigs Taggart: so resolve needs info?
  • [16:05] Aric Linden: yes please. per soft's suggestion
  • [16:06] Alexa Linden: move, resolve, needs info
  • [16:06] Aric Linden: I hate to say this, but I have to go. I'm on kid pick up duty today
  • [16:06] Alexa Linden: me too
  • [16:06] Alexa Linden: thank you all
  • [16:06] Alexa Linden: I'll have the notes up tomorrow
  • [16:06] Soft Linden: Pick me up a couple kids too? I've got a recipe I wanna try out.
  • [16:06] Aric Linden: Thanks Alexa - see you all next week.
  • [16:06] Squirrel Wood: Thank you for helping us help you help us all ^^
  • [16:06] Alexa Linden: hahaha
  • [16:06] Gigs Taggart: Soft, they freeze well
