Oz Linden is sponsoring a Design/Build Competition to create a replacement for the Hippotropolis Theater🖈.

The goal is to create a meeting space for the Second Life Open Source Community that is functional and is a showpiece of Second Life design.

KBwarning.png Warning: Draft Announcement - this competition is not yet open. Criteria may change and/or the whole thing may not happen at all.

Criteria

Requirements

The design must:

  • Be primarily constructed as a Mesh model (prim components are allowed)
  • Fit on the existing site (the current build is approximately 20m square)
  • Land Impact limit of 250
  • Comfortably accommodate groups of 15 to 35
  • Provide for presentations using shared media

Additional Considerations

These are not absolute requirements, but are positive factors:

  • Participants should be able to comfortably see one another and any presentation from the perspective of their avatar without extensive camera adjustments
  • Provision for non-human avatars and avatars both above and below the normal human size range

Schedule

All dates are extremely tentative.

  • Final designs must be submitted by 27 February 2012
  • Submissions will be constructed in a designated area and be on view for community comment until the final judging and winner selection on 1 March 2012.
