A word of thanks to Linden Labs for providing a wonderful playground to explore in and a wiki to share the knowledge gained.

About JimNeverWears Wingtips

Script developer and image engineer. While my native language is perl (since roughly epoch+588816000), I find lsl to be an interesting dialect to speak.

In the SL since '06, this is my renaissance to make the past, the past. May it stay where it belongs.

I am always available for questions and a second pair of eyes on code and design, newbies and oldtimers alike. Beware, I am painfully blunt, but objective. I am a firm believer in the TIMTOWTDI principle, so show me a new, sleeker, sexier way to code it.

Want to contact me? Best spot is always an IM in world. You can also talk to me here and I will get back to you!

Also found off world on SLProfiles and Twitter.

Plan...

I plan to add a bit of code and helpful hints to the already overflowing repositories found here and at the wonderful lslwiki.net.

And, no, you will not find me adding or discussing in the SL Forums. I find it terribly trite that Linden Labs has decided to allow people to sign up for free, but limit those same folks access to the forums. I guess they think that spammers and troublemakers don't have credit cards. Boo hiss!

Tools...

I do the vast majority of my editing off world using lsleditor. It makes preliminary design, coding, testing, and packaging a breeze.

For other work, yes, I use vi, sed, awk, etc. Doesn't everyone?

ToDo...

While this is mostly for my use, feel free to talk to me about it too. Always appreciate a different point of view or a suggestion!

Currently...

  • Looking for
    • An apprentice or journeyman scripter or prim engineer to learn the ropes and assist in building new projects. As in medieval trade guilds, you will get the tools required to learn the craft, advice from the masters, and plenty of knowledge and work. While there is no hourly wage associated, you will share in the profits of any projects in which you participate. The greatest wealth you will gain is knowledge. (6 applicants for the first round of interviews!)
  • Contract work in progress (got to pay the bills)
    • Working on a submissive control system with on- and off-world controls
  • For future products
    • An efficient historical walkabout system, one that tracks where you've been with optional annotations, working automatically, silently, and HUD-lessly
    • SL <-> RL communications building blocks
    • secure SQL data storage
    • storage building blocks - the ability to drop a new prim to an in world file cabinet to allow for additional in world data storage (like adding a new drawer to a filing cabinet)
  • Fun Stuff
    • Learning the ins and outs of wiki editing ;)
