- [15:06] Oskar Linden: it was in the library
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: I just put it on my face
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: and sharkface
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: alright. ok, so here is the agenda
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: this day/week/month has been so busy
- [15:07] WolfPup Lowenhar: i guess im left out of the sharkhead circus :p
- [15:07] Oskar Linden: we've been working really hard to get mesh ready to go
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: ur in the box wolfpup
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: stand up
- [15:08] Grid Crash: Protection Box: WolfPup Lowenhar, you are no longer protected from the vagaries of the Grid - beware!
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: there you go
- [15:08] Kadah Coba: We're all going to die, aren't we?
- [15:08] Grid Crash: Protection Box: WolfPup Lowenhar, you are now shielded from the effects of any Grid crashes which might occur!
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: eventually
- [15:08] Jacky Scharf: btw: Last week I saw "Emergency roll outs". What happened?
- [15:08] Homeless: I'm: safe in my case
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: oh right last week
- [15:08] Rex Cronon: hmm. mine want to stay on the shoulder:)
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: I should start there
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: last week was ... painful
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: so... lots of things went wrong
- [15:09] WolfPup Lowenhar: my home sim went of off the magnum servers
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: I noticed that sculpts in mesh-prep2 were getting converted to torii
- [15:09] Kallista Destiny: snicker "Nice whay understatement."
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: that's bad
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: it was onlt for sculpts whose stitch type was set to none
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: so it wasn't all sculpts
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: we rolled back as fast as we could
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: but we were already rolling back LeTigre
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: 2 back to back rollbacks
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: I worked a LOT of hours last week
- [15:10] Jacky Scharf: LeTigre and Magnum.
- [15:10] Techwolf Lupindo: Skupts getting modded or just wearing/rezing would convert them?
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: rezzing, worn, or rezzed sculpts on magnum
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: I mea letigre
- [15:10] Techwolf Lupindo: Owch...
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: but not all
- [15:11] Oskar Linden: only those with a stitch type of none
- [15:11] Oskar Linden: last week was just a really rought week all around
- [15:11] Kallista Destiny: That is mal formed?
- [15:11] WolfPup Lowenhar: i guess that is why my sim got moved from magnum to main
- [15:11] Rex Cronon: could that be related to what happened to my hat?
- [15:11] Kallista Destiny: or is that allowed?
- [15:11] Oskar Linden: I'd never used stitch type of none before
- [15:11] Oskar Linden: it apparently is allowed but I don't know what it does
- [15:12] Flip Idlemind: Out of nothing but curiosity are rollbacks faster than regular deploys or do they take the same amount of time
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: RC channel rollbacks are FAST
- [15:12] Pauline Darkfury: I could be wrong on this, but I think "none" is used for things like a terrain sculpt (would need to check)
- [15:12] Lares Carter: stitch type of none has the same effect as plane
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: maybe less than one hour if all goes well
- [15:12] Flip Idlemind: Coool
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: which is a benefit to the RC process
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: but still a pain for all involved. especially the residents
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: it is a last resort and requires executive approval
- [15:13] Fancy Greeter: Kelly Linden has arrived! (Or, returned?)
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: mr kelly. welcome
- [15:13] Lares Carter: Heya Kelly
- [15:13] Techwolf LupindoTechwolf: Lupindo smiles
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: busy week for lindens. I thought it would just be me
- [15:13] Kelly LindenKelly: Linden waves
- [15:13] Nalates Urriah: Several people complained in forum about loosing work in restarts. I assume the roll back does a shutdown and flushes the server to db to save changes, right?
- [15:13] WolfPup Lowenhar: i wonder if Ranco Bravo will go back to the magnum RC server
- [15:14] Rex Cronon: hey kelly
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: there is a small window where objects can be lost
- [15:14] Jacky Scharf: Good morning Kelly
- [15:14] Techwolf Lupindo: Welcome Kelly, more bait for the sharks here.
- [15:14] Techwolf Lupindo: :-)
- [15:14] Nalates Urriah: Small like 5 minutes or what?
- [15:14] Kallista Destiny: Hi kelly
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: depends
- [15:14] Homeless: heh: shark infested waters - no swimming
- [15:14] WolfPup Lowenhar: hey thekellz
- [15:15] Kelly Linden: on a clean shut down for a roll no work should be lost.
- [15:15] Pauline Darkfury: also, if the rollback is for a crashy and it crashes during shutdown (or during earlier crashes, before teh rollback), you are guaranteed to lose sim state back to last autosave
- [15:15] Homeless: the: OH should be held underwater
- [15:15] Rex Cronon: now we need some orcas:)
- [15:15] Kelly Linden: a crash is something else
- [15:15] Techwolf LupindoTechwolf: Lupindo lol
- [15:15] TankMaster Finesmith: somone's playing with the watter... :P
- [15:15] Jacky Scharf: *kicher*
- [15:16] Techwolf Lupindo: I see red now.
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: now we're underwater
- [15:16] Nalates Urriah: me too now gone
- [15:16] Pauline Darkfury: lol
- [15:16] TankMaster Finesmith: looks more like under blood
- [15:16] Kadah Coba: Too much blood in the water.
- [15:16] WolfPup Lowenhar: talk about your instant dive
- [15:16] Homeless: nice!:
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: alrighty then
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: so on to this week
- [15:16] Grid Crash: Protection Box: WolfPup Lowenhar, you are no longer protected from the vagaries of the Grid - beware!
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: oh no
- [15:16] Oskar Linden: kallista is drowning
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: hah
- [15:17] GM 4.02: shouts: Kallista Destiny has reset their combat meter.
- [15:17] GM 4.02: shouts: Kallista Destiny has reset their combat meter.
- [15:17] GM 4.02: shouts: Kallista Destiny has reset their combat meter.
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: silly RP'ers
- [15:17] Kallista DestinyKallista: Destiny mutters
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: X-D
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: sorry Kallista
- [15:17] Kallista Destiny: raisng the water level
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: agenda link again for latecomers
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: the avatar visi8bility project made it live
- [15:18] Marigold Devin: /whispers thanks - sorry I'm late, got a note from my parents
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: we've talked about this already
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: more info on it here: [1]
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: anyone had a chance to mess with it yet?
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: I haven't looked at it
- [15:18] Oskar Linden: too busy with mesh
- [15:19] Liisa Runo: too shy to get naked to test it
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: you? shy?
- [15:19] Liisa Runo: :P
- [15:19] Jacky Scharf: Turn off your clothes. :P~[15:19
- [15:19] Pauline Darkfury: have been too busy with stuff to look at it (especially since I'd need a different viewer for it)
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: it'll make it into main vwr eventually
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: then we might find more issues
- [15:20] DreamGirl224: ll:
- [15:20] [[User:DreamGirl224: >(o.O)<<<<|DreamGirl224: >(o.O)<<<<]]: Ohweia >>>>(o.O)<
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: there was one issue we shipped with
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: avatar selection beams are still visible
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: didn't seem a showstopper
- [15:20] Oskar Linden: kelly's homestead performance code made it to Magnum again
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: how's that looking Kelly?
- [15:21] Liisa Runo: why should the beams be invisible? they are not too kinky
- [15:21] Rex Cronon: so, soebody can see u select the sex bed:)
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: maestro had some really good looking stats. I'll try to bring them in next week
- [15:21] Rex Cronon: somebody*
- [15:21] Kallista Destiny: Magnum has been pretty good since the roll
- [15:21] Oskar Linden: on homestead regions kallista?
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: poor kelly fell asleep
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: we also did get mesh-prep2 back onto LeTigre
- [15:22] TankMaster Finesmith: thankies
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: aaaaaaand things are looking better
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: no more breaking sculpts
- [15:23] TankMaster Finesmith: what about breaking permissions? :P
- [15:23] TankMaster Finesmith: XD
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: permissions didn't break. just the ability to change friends permissions
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: subtle difference
- [15:24] TankMaster Finesmith: right
- [15:24] TankMaster Finesmith: hehe
- [15:24] Pauline Darkfury: On the subject of today's LeTigre roll, I do appreciate the need to get that stuff out there, but on behalf of all land support people, and all businesses, could we please try to avoid these unexpected Thursday rolls, and stick to the Tues / Weds schedule
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: the big thing this week was mesh on agni
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: Pauline. I agree with you 1000%
- [15:24] Oskar Linden: I STRONGLY encourage teams to avoid off schedule rolls
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: I was overruled at a higher level
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: I apologize
- [15:25] Pauline Darkfury: Rollbacks are another matter, if it's justified, just get the rollback done
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: I understand
- [15:26] Pauline Darkfury: Thanks :)
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: have you all seen the mesh volunteer page?
- [15:26] Jacky Scharf: No.
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/LiveVolunteers
- [15:26] Nalates Urriah: yes
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: that is how to voluinteer for mesh on agni now
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: if you have a region that you want on mesh. first read the warnings
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: then volunteer
- [15:27] Liisa Runo: already went to the mesh sandboxes to create some megaprims, very usefull
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: you can also get to sandbox testing regions
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: :-)
- [15:27] Kelly Linden: Sorry I had to go afk for a minute there.
- [15:27] Homeless: Is: a project viewer still needed?
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: we have a limited number of regions we are letting into this initial pool
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: so if you know someone who wants in let them know
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: pass on that link
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: yes
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: you do need a project viewer
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: all the info is in that wiki
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/LiveVolunteers
- [15:28] Pauline Darkfury: Ooooooooh, 64x64x64 on the mesh regions?
- [15:28] Liisa Runo: yup ^^
- [15:28] Pauline Darkfury: YAY!
- [15:28] TankMaster Finesmith: still can't create megaprims ... mega prims are now any prim over 64m :P
- [15:28] Kallista Destiny: Pauline, apparently not
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: 64m will be the limit
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: same for attachments
- [15:29] Kallista Destiny: is it there now?
- [15:29] TankMaster Finesmith: yes
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: no
- [15:29] Kallista Destiny: chatter in the group implied not
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: I thnk you can attach as large as you have
- [15:29] Pauline Darkfury: yeah, I'm waiting for heads to explode on the people who try to ban the use of megaprims ;)
- [15:29] TankMaster Finesmith: i was able to create 64m prims on the mesh regions in the main grid
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: we're not banning megaprims
- [15:29] Liisa Runo: i tested it, with llSetScale the prim went to 64m just fine
- [15:29] Oskar Linden: but we do discourage their use
- [15:29] Pauline Darkfury: No, talking about certain estate owners who ban them
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: the mesh regions very well may get much faster releases
- [15:30] Pauline Darkfury: I can think of one in particular that may need a nice little padded room when people can create 64m prims on her regions ;)
- [15:30] Liisa Runo: those estate owners have not read the news since 2007
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: they could get code updated every day
- [15:30] Homeless: I: guess they'll have to enforce a size limit now
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: so it is not for production regions
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: kelly, I asked earlier how Magnum was looking for homesteads
- [15:31] Flip Idlemind: Im in a strange minority who would like code updates every day, so that's fine
- [15:31] Kelly Linden: It is looking good.
- [15:31] WolfPup Lowenhar: i belive under the new rules any thing 64m and below will be considered a regular prim
- [15:31] Kelly Linden: Let me see if I can get a graph uploaded
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: cool
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: graphs
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: resis love graphs
- [15:32] Pauline Darkfury: There's been some recent new comments in SVC-7079, Kelly, just in case you're not following it
- [15:32] Flame of: Jira: [#SVC-7079
- [15:32] Kelly Linden: I am following it
- [15:32] Kelly Linden: I think my comments are near the latest
- [15:32] Pauline Darkfury: Brown has been behaving very oddly, tbh, I can't see why its performance is quite so low, even after it crashed about 17 hours ago
- [15:32] Kelly Linden: actually are the latest.
- [15:33] Pauline Darkfury: cool
- [15:33] Shark: Touch: me when I'm in position.
- [15:33] Kelly Linden: If you own the region you could see about getting it moved to Magnum to see if that helps
- [15:33] Pauline Darkfury: It's mainland, I just own 1024 on it
- [15:33] Shark: Touch: me when I'm in position.
- [15:33] Pauline Darkfury: It just seemed an interesting case, something really not right with it (but it's not a region that actually bothers me hugely, I just run perf stats on it)
- [15:33] Oskar Linden: we can move mainland :-)
- [15:35] Jacky Scharf: I've got another question ... or a bug?
- [15:35] Kelly Linden: actually this graph isn't the graph I thought I had
- [15:35] Kelly Linden: sorry
- [15:35] Oskar Linden: is it the one in the email kelly?
- [15:36] Oskar Linden: maybe we can get something ready for next week then
- [15:36] Kelly Linden: Anyway, sorry. The reports are good and we do have good graphs that show a significant improvement over current trunk.
- [15:36] Kelly Linden: current main release I mean
- [15:36] Oskar Linden: that is a good thing :-)
- [15:36] Fancy Greeter: Falcon Linden has arrived! (Or, returned?)
- [15:36] Pauline Darkfury: I've also been seeing _LOTS_ of 499s from llHTTPRequest to a LSL HTTP server on Brown. Here's the averages measured on it over the last while (dilation & FPS averaged together over time):
- 1m=96.5%, 5m=98.0%, 15m=96.0%, 30m=95.9%,
- 1h=95.4%, 4h=94.5%, 12h=95.9%, 24h=95.1%, 48h=94.4%, 7d=95.1%
- [15:37] Pauline Darkfury: Based on total scripts there and general activity, I'd expect 97-98% performance on that measurement
- [15:37] Pauline Darkfury: it was actually much worse before it crashed earlier
- [15:37] Kelly Linden: Pauline: So, we have the performance fixes basically done and being tested .... on magnum. As such performance reports from other channels fall into 'known issue' for most of these as they look exactly like what has been fixed.
- [15:37] Pauline Darkfury: Sure
- [15:38] Pauline Darkfury: Just wanted to try to get you as much data as possible
- [15:38] Oskar Linden: thanks Pauline
- [15:38] Kelly Linden: I appreciate it.
- [15:38] Oskar Linden: that's really all I have. we'll be getting closer to mesh hitting a full RC as the weeks go on
- [15:39] Kelly Linden: this region also has the same code as magnum I believe
- [15:39] Oskar Linden: so get in on that if you want to help out
- [15:39] TankMaster Finesmith: what is the release chedual for mesh anywya?
- [15:39] TankMaster Finesmith: schedual*
- [15:39] Oskar Linden: well
- [15:39] Oskar Linden: it gets some exposure on this micro channel
- [15:39] Pauline Darkfury: Can I suggest that we have at least 1 full week of mesh-prep promoted to main before mesh gets unleased on a normal RC channel, in case there's any late issues that only get exposed by main
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: then when mesh-prep2 gets through RC we are really close
- [15:40] Lares Carter: can you share details on what triggered the gorean door crasher you were talking about last week?
- [15:40] WolfPup Lowenhar: yes that i need to know as i need to finishe work on a new OS lib for use by TPV's relating to mesh
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: it'll probably be something like that Pauline
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: what details do we have on that Kelly?
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: now that it is fixed?
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: I forget now
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: been so long ago
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: I don't know any more details Lares
- [15:42] Lares Carter: okay, was just curious
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: oh I can talk about SVC-7104
- [15:42] Flame of: Jira: [#SVC-7104
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: that was another issue on the pile of fun that last week was
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: it was an unintended bug, it is not part of some large conspiracy
- [15:42] Fancy Greeter: Dan Linden has arrived! (Or, returned?)
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: it is being worked on
- [15:43] Kelly Linden: Yeah the problem was that we sometimes tried to trigger events on crashed scripts and those doors had a crashed script in them.
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: the fix is there it just has to work through the process
- [15:43] Flip Idlemind: Wellll that's what you would say if it were part of a large conspiracy <.<
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: it _should_ be in an RC next week
- [15:43] Jacky Scharf: Hello Dan .
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: hi dan
- [15:43] Oskar Linden: bye dan
- [15:43] Lares Carter: ah, thanks Kelly
- [15:43] Pauline DarkfuryPauline: Darkfury hands FLIP some hat-shaped tinfoil ;)
- [15:43] Kallista Destiny: all these sharks scared him off
- [15:44] WolfPup Lowenhar: hello dan
- [15:44] Marigold Devin: hahahaha
- [15:44] Kadah Coba: Oh good to hear
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: I know that issue is a sore subject right now
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: I'm just happy there is a workaround
- [15:44] Homeless: I: guess he prefers a room full of teddy bears
- [15:44] Oskar Linden: even if it is not the best experience
- [15:45] Kadah Coba: Work around to use something that has its own issues with the same thing :V
- [15:45] Rex Cronon: u mean to say that it wasn't the bling worn by the slave girls that crashed the doors:)
- [15:45] Oskar Linden: I think that's all I have for this week
- [15:45] Oskar Linden: any updates kelly?
- [15:46] Jacky Scharf: I don't know if it's a bug or a feature: In my or others friends list it's impossible to check the boxes to find friends inworld or to give someone rights to change rezzed objects. If the box to find a friend is checked, the friends list seems to hang up and the checked avatar is unavailable to highlight. We tried it with different avatars and different viewers. So I think it's a server-side problem. I didn't file a Jira yet.
- [15:46] Oskar Linden: most lindens are heads down on mesh stuff right now
- [15:46] Oskar Linden: even maestro
- [15:46] Kadah Coba: Jacky, thats what we were talking about
- [15:46] Oskar Linden: svc-7104
- [15:46] TankMaster Finesmith: jackey, thats the bug oskar just talked about
- [15:46] Kelly Linden: I don't really have other updates
- [15:46] Jacky Scharf: Oh, ok.
- [15:46] Pauline Darkfury: that's the SVC-7104 friends-perms bug
- [15:46] Oskar Linden: fixed, but needing a release slot
- [15:47] Jacky Scharf: That's it, ok.
- [15:47] Jacky Scharf: Sry.
- [15:47] Nalates Urriah: Do you know anything about Direct Delivery and the inventroy lag we have now?
- [15:47] Homeless: I: think the first computer bug ever was a moth
- [15:47] Oskar Linden: no worries
- [15:47] Oskar Linden: I don't work on the direct delivery team
- [15:47] Oskar Linden: what are you seeing?
- [15:47] Oskar Linden: is there a jira?
- [15:48] Pauline Darkfury: folklore says it was something like that, Homeless, it crawled into a mechanical relay and broke the machine
- [15:48] Lares Carter: any news about the 'scripting maintenance' project?
- [15:48] Homeless: heh:
- [15:48] Kadah Coba: DD has its own team from what I understood
- [15:48] Oskar Linden: mostly
- [15:48] Rex Cronon: it ate the tape:)
- [15:48] Oskar Linden: they may have a usergroup too
- [15:48] Nalates Urriah: I haven't looked for JIRA yet. I saw it in 2.8.2 and Kirsten. Inventory is very laggy. click and item and waith to or 5 seconds for it to select, same on drage, etc.
- [15:48] Kadah Coba: Lottsa of overlap?
- [15:48] Kelly Linden: The scripting maintenance project is waiting for QA time which is at a premium right now.
- [15:49] Oskar Linden: speaking of I just interviewed a new QA guy
- [15:49] Pauline Darkfury: Any comments on the possible inventory corruption reported recently (invalid creator IDs in the DB)?
- [15:49] Oskar Linden: I hadn't heard of that Pauline
- [15:49] Oskar Linden: but I'm not surprised. way too many issues this week
- [15:49] Oskar Linden: s/week/month/
- [15:49] Kadah Coba: You need someone with OCD for QA
- [15:49] Liisa Runo: [2]
- [15:50] Pauline Darkfury: SVC-7123, I think?
- [15:50] Flame of: Jira: [#SVC-7123
- [15:50] Pauline Darkfury: yeah, that's it
- [15:50] Oskar Linden: hmm
- [15:50] Pauline Darkfury: there was also someone in the Commerce group talking about objects mysteriously gaining "Allow anyone to move", which seemed to approx fit the same timescale
- [15:51] Oskar Linden: hmm
- [15:51] Oskar Linden: I don't know
- [15:51] Rex Cronon: what makes an object have an unknown creator?
- [15:52] Pauline Darkfury: Maestro said the objects in question had somehow got invalid data in the creator ID field
- [15:52] Oskar Linden: database corruption or something glitched in the request
- [15:52] Oskar Linden: well I am taking a vacation day tomorrow
