[2013/02/07 15:04] Maestro Linden: let's get this party started
[2013/02/07 15:04] Maestro Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
[2013/02/07 15:04] Rex Cronon: hello everybody
[2013/02/07 15:05] arton Rotaru: hi Rex
[2013/02/07 15:05] Rex Cronon: hi arton
[2013/02/07 15:05] Maestro Linden: We don't have a whole lot on the agenda today
[2013/02/07 15:05] Maestro Linden: only release announcements
[2013/02/07 15:06] Maestro Linden: The
[2013/02/07 15:06] Maestro Linden: main channel got the maint-server which was previously on LeTigre
[2013/02/07 15:06] RedMokum Bravin: Did that do anything with sim crossing by objects?
[2013/02/07 15:07] Maestro Linden: Not that update, RedMokum, but the previous one did
[2013/02/07 15:07] Maestro Linden: Last Tuesday, the main channel got the region crossing changes
[2013/02/07 15:07] RedMokum Bravin: Oh, what I observed last week was a lot of stuck automated cars on a main road.
[2013/02/07 15:07] Rex Cronon: maybe they didn't reset right?
[2013/02/07 15:08] arton Rotaru: business as usual
[2013/02/07 15:08] RedMokum Bravin: They usually get stuck inside our homes, so this wasn't bad, but it looked strange, in the middle of the road.
[2013/02/07 15:08] Maestro Linden: I've definitely heard about stuck cars
[2013/02/07 15:08] Duckie Dickins: drop some fire prims...then it looks fine. :)
[2013/02/07 15:08] Maestro Linden: especially those self-driving ones
[2013/02/07 15:09] RedMokum Bravin: Yes, AnnMarie Otoole's but also the other ones... the eggs
[2013/02/07 15:09] RedMokum Bravin: I've never seen the latter stuck anywhere
[2013/02/07 15:09] Rex Cronon: are their scripts off?
[2013/02/07 15:09] arton Rotaru: when the eggs get stuck, they turn into chickens :p
[2013/02/07 15:09] RedMokum Bravin: We had a pile of them on the border of Furness to Ravenglass
[2013/02/07 15:09] Maestro Linden: so they were stuck in the middle of the road at a region boundary?
[2013/02/07 15:09] RedMokum Bravin: Yes
[2013/02/07 15:10] RedMokum Bravin: They followed the road for a change
[2013/02/07 15:10] RedMokum Bravin: and stopped at border.
[2013/02/07 15:10] RedMokum Bravin: Some self destructed
[2013/02/07 15:10] RedMokum Bravin: others I got away by mounting them
[2013/02/07 15:10] Maestro Linden: I wonder if something like a bad parcel setting (no object entry or no script) could be responsible
[2013/02/07 15:10] Rex Cronon: they r can't enter next sim?
[2013/02/07 15:10] RedMokum Bravin: It was on Linden land
[2013/02/07 15:11] Duckie Dickins: well if they follow the linden roads then I don't think that would be the case
[2013/02/07 15:11] RedMokum Bravin: official road
[2013/02/07 15:11] RedMokum Bravin: I thought both sims were on the same server version.
[2013/02/07 15:12] Rex Cronon: unless u can see their code is kind of hard to know what caused them to stop
[2013/02/07 15:12] Maestro Linden: yeah, that's true
[2013/02/07 15:12] Lucia Nightfire: there was a change sent out Tue and Wed for all Gov. Linden land with 0 autoreturn time to change to 5 min, I'm sure there was a crap load of returns across the grid, lol
[2013/02/07 15:13] RedMokum Bravin: That's bad actually Lucia. Some land changed groups from LDPW to others. :-p
[2013/02/07 15:14] Lucia Nightfire: didn't notice that , heh
[2013/02/07 15:14] Rex Cronon: how can land change groups by itself?
[2013/02/07 15:14] RedMokum Bravin: The concierges sometimes change the group from LDPW to Maintenance etc. I think.
[2013/02/07 15:17] Maestro Linden: BlueSteel didn't really change since last week, except that it got the changes that arrived in the SLS channel
[2013/02/07 15:17] Rex Cronon: there should be a free racetrack between two sims on this grid. that way u might get faster bug reports:)
[2013/02/07 15:17] Duckie Dickins: there is
[2013/02/07 15:17] Duckie Dickins: several
[2013/02/07 15:17] Duckie Dickins: the vehicle testing sims
[2013/02/07 15:17] Rex Cronon: people don't know about them
[2013/02/07 15:18] arton Rotaru: SLS channel ?
[2013/02/07 15:18] Duckie Dickins: I drive there from time to time
[2013/02/07 15:18] Rex Cronon: i mean an actual race track with cars on it
[2013/02/07 15:19] Duckie Dickins: well they have a race track as well..no cars on it though..rez your own
[2013/02/07 15:19] Maestro Linden: I'm not sure that anybody actually attempts to use a 2-sim racetrack on agni - seems a bit dangerous :)
[2013/02/07 15:19] Rex Cronon: something like mario kart:)
[2013/02/07 15:19] Rex Cronon: kind of boring rezzing your own
[2013/02/07 15:19] Margithe: with pathfinding opponents?
[2013/02/07 15:20] RedMokum Bravin: I better like one that you can wear.
[2013/02/07 15:20] Rex Cronon: right. ph opponents:)
[2013/02/07 15:20] Maestro Linden: instead of bananas, you drop 'Beach Ball (drag to ground)' to make your opponents slip
[2013/02/07 15:20] Rex Cronon: i mean PF(path finding)
[2013/02/07 15:20] RedMokum Bravin: :-)
[2013/02/07 15:20] Margithe: I have an irking feeling that it would be constantly broken >.<
[2013/02/07 15:20] RedMokum Bravin: Oh you want physical ofcourse
[2013/02/07 15:21] Rex Cronon: u guy might get lots of reports and even faster:)
[2013/02/07 15:21] Maestro Linden: Oh by the way Nalates, Hippotropolis has been moved to the SLS channel on Agni
[2013/02/07 15:21] arton Rotaru: ah SLS is the main server
[2013/02/07 15:21] Maestro Linden: I suspect that the issues are unrelated to BlueSteel, and directly related to somebody griefing
[2013/02/07 15:21] Maestro Linden: "Second Life Server"
[2013/02/07 15:21] arton Rotaru: yeah
[2013/02/07 15:21] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah, theregion went down during Oz's last 2 user groups
[2013/02/07 15:22] Maestro Linden: if Hippotropolis goes back again on the main channel, we can rule out the possibility of bluesteel introducing that sort of regression
[2013/02/07 15:22] Nal (nalates.urriah): Thx... I tried to post in forum about Hippo. I can't right now... getting odd errors. But, I have not seen the same problem again
[2013/02/07 15:22] Maestro Linden: We'll see what happens. I would be pretty surprised if the BlueSteel changes caused those sorts of performance issues
[2013/02/07 15:23] Maestro Linden: (high net time, apparent packet loss)
[2013/02/07 15:23] Duckie Dickins: Anyway the vehicle testing sims is like a 4 sim race track on the main grid. The sim name is Balance...it's real close to Morris.
[2013/02/07 15:23] Nal (nalates.urriah): Since SIM and Physics FPS are locked, I thought it was connection issues when I saw different values.
[2013/02/07 15:24] Maestro Linden: I wasn't able to see the problem live, Nal, but the statistics logs showed low physics time but very high network time
[2013/02/07 15:25] Lucia Nightfire: sounds liek what I get in many sandbxoes, heh
[2013/02/07 15:25] Lucia Nightfire: that moderation crash bug still persists on LeTigre, btw
[2013/02/07 15:25] Nal (nalates.urriah): I think you are right about it being a griefer.
[2013/02/07 15:25] Maestro Linden: Lucia, you mean group moderation?
[2013/02/07 15:26] Lucia Nightfire: no, I mean LSL moderation functions
[2013/02/07 15:26] Latif Khalifa: i was seeing ping times in excess of 30 seconds on Hippotropolis
[2013/02/07 15:26] Lucia Nightfire: sendagenthome and /or ejectfromland with addtoagentbanlist
[2013/02/07 15:26] Maestro Linden: ah
[2013/02/07 15:26] Latif Khalifa: (in viewer ping time)
[2013/02/07 15:26] Latif Khalifa: regular OS ping showed normal stats
[2013/02/07 15:27] Maestro Linden: yeah, those cases I looked into with your region seemed to be caused by the ejected avatar's scripts rezzing something nasty just as they were TP'ed home
[2013/02/07 15:27] Lucia Nightfire: this isn't a grief case
[2013/02/07 15:27] Lucia Nightfire: it happens on anyone
[2013/02/07 15:28] Lucia Nightfire: except agents that have already been to the region at least once
[2013/02/07 15:28] Maestro Linden: Do you have some example crash times?
[2013/02/07 15:28] Lucia Nightfire: at least thats my theory
[2013/02/07 15:28] Lucia Nightfire: or teh only real constant in all cases
[2013/02/07 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: otherwise, I have nothing else to connect to the issue
[2013/02/07 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: SEC-1204
[2013/02/07 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: I logged about 18 - 24 crashes there with times
[2013/02/07 15:29] Maestro Linden: ok
[2013/02/07 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: and probable have over 60 more since
[2013/02/07 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: maybe 800
[2013/02/07 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: oops
[2013/02/07 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: *80
[2013/02/07 15:30] arton Rotaru: sounds like you're banning a lot :p
[2013/02/07 15:30] Rex Cronon: i wonder what will happen if it crashes even on land u don't have the rights to tp or eject others?
[2013/02/07 15:30] Maestro Linden: Alright, I see that it's linked up to an internal Jira
[2013/02/07 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: I'm having to manually use sendagent home first then wait for them to leave before using addtoagentbanlist or addagenttobanlist w/o send home to prevent eh crash
[2013/02/07 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: same when replacing sendagenthome with ejectfromland
[2013/02/07 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: its a combination of sendhome/eject with banning that yields the crash
[2013/02/07 15:32] Rex Cronon: using LlAddToLandBanList doesn't work?
[2013/02/07 15:32] Lucia Nightfire: it works, but if you use sendhome or eject just before or after it crashes the sim
[2013/02/07 15:32] Monster LagGroup (eddi.decosta): hi there
[2013/02/07 15:32] Rex Cronon: hi
[2013/02/07 15:33] RedMokum Bravin: Eddi :-)
[2013/02/07 15:33] Jenna Felton: hello :)
[2013/02/07 15:34] Maestro Linden: Well, LeTigre has a few different crash fixes, but not for the one that's affecting Lucia, unfortunately
[2013/02/07 15:34] Lucia Nightfire: I was told it may in the server dev meeting, which is why I had a region changed to it before the roll
[2013/02/07 15:34] Lucia Nightfire: sadly it didn't help, lol
[2013/02/07 15:35] Maestro Linden: too bad
[2013/02/07 15:35] Lucia Nightfire: isn't the server log showing you why the region crashes?
[2013/02/07 15:36] Lucia Nightfire: its certainly isn't liking something to just crash, heh
[2013/02/07 15:36] Maestro Linden: sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't; it really depends on the crash mode
[2013/02/07 15:37] Maestro Linden: finally, Magnum is still on the interest list improvement project
[2013/02/07 15:37] Lucia Nightfire: I would figure with the amount of data I reported, that somethign could be determined
[2013/02/07 15:37] Maestro Linden: Andrew managed to fix the bandwidth issue that was plaguing libOMV bots
[2013/02/07 15:38] Latif Khalifa: it was really a bug in sim handling of ack messages that caused increased bandwith usage for all clients
[2013/02/07 15:38] Maestro Linden: I think we have a match between your crashes and a bug that was filed internally after somebody browsed crash report fingerprints, Lucia
[2013/02/07 15:38] Latif Khalifa: just that some libomv users are extra sensitive to bandwith usage :P
[2013/02/07 15:39] Lucia Nightfire: hopefully soemthign can be done soon, 60 - 80 region crashes in two weeks is not normal, lol
[2013/02/07 15:39] Rex Cronon: depends on you connection latif?
[2013/02/07 15:40] Lucia Nightfire: thats just for 4 particular regions I know of, I have no idea how often it is occurring abroad
[2013/02/07 15:40] Rex Cronon: your*
[2013/02/07 15:40] Latif Khalifa: doesn't really depend on the connection
[2013/02/07 15:40] Latif Khalifa: the bug caused simulator to resend messages that were already properly processed
[2013/02/07 15:40] arton Rotaru: at that rate, you have banned all SL residents soon anyway , so problem fixed :p
[2013/02/07 15:40] Maestro Linden: well, if you have a connection that couldn't handle the flow of data, I'm sure you'd see more bad effects from the extra traffic
[2013/02/07 15:40] Jenna Felton: /me gigles to Arton
[2013/02/07 15:41] Maestro Linden: Anyway, the feedback seems to be that bandwidth is back to normal levels for a bot
[2013/02/07 15:41] Rex Cronon: arton i think lucia is dealing with alts. and those is very likely to run out of them anytime soon:)
[2013/02/07 15:41] arton Rotaru: lucky bot
[2013/02/07 15:41] Rex Cronon: very unlikely*
[2013/02/07 15:42] Lucia Nightfire: dealing with alts?
[2013/02/07 15:42] Latif Khalifa: actuallt now that interest list changes are in effect the bandwith usage is lower than it was before
[2013/02/07 15:42] arton Rotaru: just kidding, Rex ^^
[2013/02/07 15:42] Maestro Linden: Triple Peccable said in the release forum that her bot down to 1MB/hour now
[2013/02/07 15:42] Maestro Linden: which is pretty impressive
[2013/02/07 15:42] Rex Cronon: those people u ban lucia, are very likely alts
[2013/02/07 15:42] Jenna Felton: who has a bot farm would be very excited
[2013/02/07 15:42] Jenna Felton: about that :)
[2013/02/07 15:42] RedMokum Bravin: Yeah... I could live without bots though.
[2013/02/07 15:43] Duckie Dickins: speaking of alts....some one keeps spamming the second life forums with advertisements of watching streaming sports events...unfortunately they all end up in my mail box as I'm subscribed to several of the SL forums so that I receive new topic posts in certain forums like Roleplay and scripting....
[2013/02/07 15:43] Duckie Dickins: superbowl friday I got 600 spam topic emails from the SL forums.
[2013/02/07 15:43] Jenna Felton: oh
[2013/02/07 15:43] Whirly Fizzle: lol ouch
[2013/02/07 15:43] Lucia Nightfire: no rex this is with anyone
[2013/02/07 15:44] Rex Cronon: wow duckie
[2013/02/07 15:44] Nal (nalates.urriah): Spamming is a universal problem...
[2013/02/07 15:44] Duckie Dickins: well this person has to create an avatar in order to post to the forums.
[2013/02/07 15:45] Nal (nalates.urriah): Well, a logon ID. They don't even have to download the viewer.
[2013/02/07 15:45] Rex Cronon: duckie. how many forum thread did u register to receive updates?
[2013/02/07 15:45] Duckie Dickins: I don't subscribe to forum threads...to the forum themselves....
[2013/02/07 15:46] Duckie Dickins: I get an email for each new forum topic posted..just a single email with the original topic message included
[2013/02/07 15:46] arton Rotaru: wow
[2013/02/07 15:46] Duckie Dickins: example message which isn't spam
[2013/02/07 15:46] Duckie Dickins: Hello Duckie Dickins,

[2013/02/07 15:46] Jenna Felton: you need a good spam filter on mail provider
[2013/02/07 15:47] And all I got was this lousy DN (tankmaster.finesmith): you dont need to spam that here
[2013/02/07 15:47] Rex Cronon: too bad u can't add filters. like don't send email if it has footbal in it:)
[2013/02/07 15:47] arton Rotaru: lol
[2013/02/07 15:47] arton Rotaru: looking for a room mate msg would I consider as Spam :p
[2013/02/07 15:48] Duckie Dickins: well I don't mind the single posts of new topics posted to the roleplay forums
[2013/02/07 15:48] Jenna Felton: my mail provider has a spam filter. so i get about 9 mails about SL a day
[2013/02/07 15:48] Duckie Dickins: but when there's 50 messages about watching the superbowl
[2013/02/07 15:48] Monster LagGroup (eddi.decosta): spam, is alwayys in your imagination :p
[2013/02/07 15:48] Margithe: it kinda defies the function of subscribing, if you at the same time filter messages comming from LL away
[2013/02/07 15:48] arton Rotaru: you shouldn't have miss Beyonces show so...
[2013/02/07 15:48] arton Rotaru: a few reminders :p
[2013/02/07 15:49] Jenna Felton: ok, good argument Margithe
[2013/02/07 15:49] RedMokum Bravin: I don't subscribe. I read what others promote on Twitter.
[2013/02/07 15:49] Duckie Dickins: the sad part too is when a moderator deletes the post or moves it to a different forum..you get another email. lol
[2013/02/07 15:50] Rex Cronon: say u subscribe to youtube and receive an email each time a new video is added. it would be usefull to say u want to receive email only if video is about second life:)
[2013/02/07 15:51] Jenna Felton: perhaps forum developer can add something that allows to send a message just once when a post is created, and filter some unwanted keywords
[2013/02/07 15:51] Jenna Felton: or just send a email when a post is created per forum, following posts will have no notification until you visit the forum
[2013/02/07 15:51] Duckie Dickins: I can see wanting new residents to be able to post..... however it does open it up for misuse.
[2013/02/07 15:52] Duckie Dickins: well that's how i haveit sent now....I get an email when a post is created...
[2013/02/07 15:52] Margithe: maybe a forum activation kiosk inworld, for any other subforum aside Help?
[2013/02/07 15:53] Duckie Dickins: maybe new residents should only be able to post to help for their first week or so.
[2013/02/07 15:53] Rex Cronon: duckie. why don't u use your email filtering?
[2013/02/07 15:53] arton Rotaru: just unsubscribe if you don't want spam
[2013/02/07 15:53] Duckie Dickins: the emails come from linden labs.
[2013/02/07 15:53] arton Rotaru: if you want to see it all, you'll get it all
[2013/02/07 15:53] Rex Cronon: i think some email provider allow to filter based on email content too
[2013/02/07 15:53] arton Rotaru: including spam
[2013/02/07 15:54] Margithe: Arton, would you also suggest to stop using e-mail altogether, instead of wishing of a resonable measures against spam?
[2013/02/07 15:54] arton Rotaru: no,
[2013/02/07 15:54] Duckie Dickins: well Gmail does a pretty good job at filtering.
[2013/02/07 15:54] arton Rotaru: just don't overcomplicate simple things :p
[2013/02/07 15:54] Jenna Felton: i know www.slinfo.de runs on vBulletin software. There you can subscribe to threads. and you get a notification once a post was created. Further notifications are not sent until you visit the forum. This keeps the message flow lower
[2013/02/07 15:55] Monster LagGroup (eddi.decosta): Rex, with Telus i have an thing called [AVIS-NOTICE] when the email is an spam..
[2013/02/07 15:55] Jenna Felton: perhaps a forum developers can steal that idea for SL forums :)
[2013/02/07 15:56] Psi Merlin: Has anyone seen problems with region traffic stats not updating over the last few days?
[2013/02/07 15:56] Margithe: Technically LL is responsible for handling the spam that is sent through their adress, like it or not. And it's a criminal offence.
[2013/02/07 15:56] Rex Cronon: eddi. i use hotmail. and it does a relatively good job at screening spam
[2013/02/07 15:56] Jonathan Yap: Traffic stats were broken but that was fixed yesterday (?)
[2013/02/07 15:56] arton Rotaru: lol, well you have a choice there
[2013/02/07 15:56] And all I got was this lousy DN (tankmaster.finesmith): anywho, this isnt really relivent to anything server related
[2013/02/07 15:56] arton Rotaru: indeed
[2013/02/07 15:56] Maestro Linden: Yep Jonathan: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2013/02/06/post1882/
[2013/02/07 15:57] Maestro Linden: it affected events search and parcel traffic counts, I believe
[2013/02/07 15:57] Inara Breen: Maestro, any further news on the mainland problem around Brocade, with regions diagonally adjacent failing to render? I was back there earlier today, and Mullein is still initially failing to render from the SE corner of Brocade.
[2013/02/07 15:57] Maestro Linden: probably some other types of search which were affected more subtly, too
[2013/02/07 15:57] Psi Merlin: OK, thanks
[2013/02/07 15:58] Maestro Linden: Hi Inara, I don't have any news about that bug
[2013/02/07 15:58] Inara Breen: OK. Alvid was asking, and I saw Shug has opened a forum topic on it: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Diagonal-Regions-not-rezing-an-ongoing-issue/td-p/1873735
[2013/02/07 15:59] Maestro Linden: Yeah, there's a Jira too: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-8130
[2013/02/07 16:00] Inara Breen: Right... thought a resolution had been reached a while back. My mistake.
[2013/02/07 16:00] Maestro Linden: It's somewhat rare, but it was never officially fixed
[2013/02/07 16:01] Inara Breen: /me nods
[2013/02/07 16:01] Rex Cronon: i g2g. tc everybody and have a nice day:)
