[2013/04/11 15:01] Maestro Linden: let's get started: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group#Agenda
[2013/04/11 15:02] Maestro Linden: The agenda is pretty quiet this week
[2013/04/11 15:02] Vincent Nacon: or they forgot to add it today
[2013/04/11 15:02] Motor Loon: bit of a slimjim
[2013/04/11 15:02] Maestro Linden: the main channel didn't get any updates on Tuesday
[2013/04/11 15:03] Maestro Linden: because of the two projects that were on RC last week,
[2013/04/11 15:03] Maestro Linden: Monty's HTTP project needed more 'baking time', in case there were any subtle issues
[2013/04/11 15:03] Inara Breen: Hey, Baker!
[2013/04/11 15:03] Baker Linden: hello!
[2013/04/11 15:04] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Baker.
[2013/04/11 15:04] Baker Linden: ...am I the first linden here?
[2013/04/11 15:04]  Maestro Linden: and the maint-server that was on LeTigre and BlueSteel needed a minor design change;
[2013/04/11 15:04] Baker Linden: nm
[2013/04/11 15:05] Maestro Linden: Code Violet pointed out that the animation override system was problematic for poseballs and other scripted items,
[2013/04/11 15:05] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): UH OH, *puts on sunglasses*
[2013/04/11 15:05] Maestro Linden: if a user had a custom 'sit' animation set, the seat wouldn't be able to stop the animation properly
[2013/04/11 15:05] Vincent Nacon: I can feel FPS hurting without looking at Kelly
[2013/04/11 15:06] Maestro Linden: because if the seat called llGetAnimationOverride("Sitting"), it would get an empty string unless the exact animation also happened to be in the seat's inventory
[2013/04/11 15:06] Jenna Felton: ah, i wondered why the mains server not has the SS AO yet this week :)
[2013/04/11 15:06] Vincent Nacon: soon
[2013/04/11 15:07] Vincent Nacon: *TM
[2013/04/11 15:07] Maestro Linden: Kelly has a nice solution to this problem, which is to make 'llStopAnimation("sit")' stop your custom animation, if you had overriden your sit animation
[2013/04/11 15:07] Vincent Nacon: with any animation?
[2013/04/11 15:07] Motor Loon: aha... sounds like an easy way to fix it
[2013/04/11 15:07] Maestro Linden: conveniently, this change means that existing poseballs won't need any updates to play nicely with the new AO system
[2013/04/11 15:08] Vincent Nacon: hmm not sure how that might be a good thing
[2013/04/11 15:08] arton Rotaru: how about llGetAnimationList and looping thru?
[2013/04/11 15:08] Motor Loon: why not vin?
[2013/04/11 15:08] Jenna Felton: to be honest i expected to do exatly this way. You override the animation state "sit" so you also stop the animation state "sit" whatever animation that really is
[2013/04/11 15:08] arton Rotaru: to stop all the anims
[2013/04/11 15:08] arton Rotaru: does that work as well?
[2013/04/11 15:08] Maestro Linden: arton, I suppose that would work too
[2013/04/11 15:08] arton Rotaru: ok cool
[2013/04/11 15:08] Vincent Nacon: I know there are some AO that mixes with more than one to create some effect
[2013/04/11 15:09] Maestro Linden: you'd be stopping their custom sit animation by its UUID
[2013/04/11 15:09] arton Rotaru: great
[2013/04/11 15:09] Lucia Nightfire: I think the new functions were intended to deter the need for looping and polling , heh
[2013/04/11 15:09] Motor Loon: ofcourse... some funiture might not use that... but instead run a loop and get all UUIDs and stop each one
[2013/04/11 15:09] arton Rotaru: just to stop them on sit Lucia
[2013/04/11 15:09] Lucia Nightfire: although there are still some agent info polls you'll have to make, sadly, like with typing, heh
[2013/04/11 15:10] Motor Loon: actually think I've done that in a product or two
[2013/04/11 15:10] MartinRJ Fayray: That change seems fine, although it hurts a bit that it kind-of defeats the purpose of having an AO that survives other AOs and poses
[2013/04/11 15:11] MartinRJ Fayray: (I thought that the server-side AO would be a bit like an 'additional layer' of AOs)
[2013/04/11 15:11] Maestro Linden: well, if the AO wants to be stubborn, it should be able to start the animation after the scripted seat stopped it
[2013/04/11 15:11] MartinRJ Fayray: like nowadays AOs do
[2013/04/11 15:11] Vincent Nacon: yeah
[2013/04/11 15:11] arton Rotaru: AOs suck anyway :p
[2013/04/11 15:12] MartinRJ Fayray: hehe
[2013/04/11 15:12] arton Rotaru: never used one in almost 6 years :p
[2013/04/11 15:12] Vincent Nacon: client-AO rocks
[2013/04/11 15:12] Margithe: Does any of this affect old AO's and their functionality?
[2013/04/11 15:12] Maestro Linden: nope, it shouldn't affect them
[2013/04/11 15:13] Vincent Nacon: and what about client-AO?
[2013/04/11 15:13] Maestro Linden: except that an old AO will play more nicely if your avatar already had a new-style AO set
[2013/04/11 15:13] Vincent Nacon: n/m just realized something
[2013/04/11 15:14] Lucia Nightfire: I'm still saddened that we also lost that pathfinding fix along with the animation override code, wah
[2013/04/11 15:14] Maestro Linden: well, it's not lost, just delayed
[2013/04/11 15:14] Jenna Felton: also an interesting question (someone asked me). When i override some animations or even all defaults. And than teleport to another sim, or into a crowd of people not seen me yet. Will their viewers start download the new animations, the all animations, or on demand that animation i am curently runing due state, e.g. sit or stand ?
[2013/04/11 15:15] Maestro Linden: we ran out of time while doing the usual set of tests for any server release,
[2013/04/11 15:15] Maestro Linden: so we had to punt on the maint-server update for this week
[2013/04/11 15:15] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): Better to punt than take a saftey
[2013/04/11 15:15] Maestro Linden: but it should be in RC again next week, for sure
[2013/04/11 15:16] Vincent Nacon: anything else new?
[2013/04/11 15:16] Maestro Linden: I've personally been off in materials viewer land, so I don't have any server news
[2013/04/11 15:16] Maestro Linden: do you have anything, baker?
[2013/04/11 15:16] Maestro Linden: (I think I asked kelly already..)
[2013/04/11 15:17] Baker Linden: I guess I can talk about my progress
[2013/04/11 15:17] Jenna Felton: /me points on my question above
[2013/04/11 15:17] Baker Linden: I've been working on implementing Group Ban functionality
[2013/04/11 15:17] Lucia Nightfire: was about to ask, heh
[2013/04/11 15:18] arton Rotaru: lol
[2013/04/11 15:18] arton Rotaru: ban happy Lucia .p
[2013/04/11 15:18] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): yes, we ‚ô• Baker.
[2013/04/11 15:18] Lucia Nightfire: no, I just have to deal with the worst elements with what all I'm responsible for these days
[2013/04/11 15:18] Baker Linden: I have the first draft of the technical doc written, and having some other lindens looking over it to discuss anything that might need to be changed
[2013/04/11 15:18] Maestro Linden: jenna, I think animations are only requested by individual viewers when an avatar starts playing one (and the animation isn't in the viewer cache already)
[2013/04/11 15:19] Lucia Nightfire: I'd rather just script and build if those elements would let me
[2013/04/11 15:19] arton Rotaru: yea, just kidding
[2013/04/11 15:19] Baker Linden: So hopefully if nothing needs to be redesigned, I can move forward and start development
[2013/04/11 15:19] Baker Linden: that's all I have
[2013/04/11 15:19] Jenna Felton: Thank you Maestro
[2013/04/11 15:20] Vincent Nacon: speaking of group, is there a reason why group-created that got disbanded can not be re-created again?
[2013/04/11 15:20] tehKellz (kelly.linden): jenna: animation IDs are sent to all viewers as you play them, on demand. Entire sets are never sent to all viewers, or even to your viewer.
[2013/04/11 15:20] Baker Linden: Vincent: Ever, or immediately after?
[2013/04/11 15:20] tehKellz (kelly.linden): viewers download and cache the ids the first time they see them.
[2013/04/11 15:20] Vincent Nacon: or even disband group whenever you have less than 2 members
[2013/04/11 15:20] Jenna Felton: ok, than teleport with overriden defaults would not lag other viewers. sounds good
[2013/04/11 15:21] Vincent Nacon: well ever I think
[2013/04/11 15:21] Baker Linden: That I'm not sure of.
[2013/04/11 15:21] Vincent Nacon: one sec... I'll try creating same group again to be sure
[2013/04/11 15:22] Jenna Felton: what means group ban exactely?
[2013/04/11 15:22] Baker Linden: it will allow you to ban a resident from joining the group
[2013/04/11 15:22] Vincent Nacon: to stop people from joining the same group after a kick
[2013/04/11 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: next we neext conference call banlists, lmao
[2013/04/11 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: *need
[2013/04/11 15:22] Motor Loon: should help with spamposters in openjoin groups a bit
[2013/04/11 15:23] Margithe: Will it be possible to restrict a group to certain join age?( like 30 days etc)
[2013/04/11 15:23] Margithe: or PIOF
[2013/04/11 15:23] Jenna Felton: thank you :)
[2013/04/11 15:24] Baker Linden: Margithe, that wasn't in the plan but I will add that to the document for future improvements
[2013/04/11 15:24] Vincent Nacon: ok, confirmed. Still can't re-create the same group after it got disbanded 5 months ago
[2013/04/11 15:24] Margithe: Thats awesome Baker, thank you
[2013/04/11 15:25] Margithe: It would be to stop spammers from creating alts as fast as they get banned, etc.
[2013/04/11 15:26] Motor Loon: temp.change of openjoin does that too though °͜°
[2013/04/11 15:26] Margithe: you mean closing it down to everyone, for a set amount of time? it's really not very handy.
[2013/04/11 15:27] Vincent Nacon: you'd be surprised
[2013/04/11 15:27] Motor Loon: agree, but it does work... it putting a 10$ join fee on have kept spammers out for me also
[2013/04/11 15:27] Margithe: it's still a workaround to what should be "join conditions" imo.
[2013/04/11 15:28] Baker Linden: I do like the idea of join conditions
[2013/04/11 15:28] Nal (nalates.urriah): me too
[2013/04/11 15:28] NeoBokrug Elytis: I agree
[2013/04/11 15:28] Baker Linden: I'll keep that around -- maybe that'll be my next big project after group bans
[2013/04/11 15:28] Baker Linden: :D
[2013/04/11 15:28] Kallista Arliss (kallista.destiny): Minage would do wonders for blocking spammers
[2013/04/11 15:28] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): if you coudl do by age for joining and banning troublemakers that would be huge improvement
[2013/04/11 15:29] Margithe: Agreed.
[2013/04/11 15:29] Blake Burger: i think it is a great idea too! :)
[2013/04/11 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: essentially any access paramaters mirror from parcel access
[2013/04/11 15:29] Vincent Nacon: I remembered when we all had rating and that could been useful to keep troublemakers out
[2013/04/11 15:29] NeoBokrug Elytis: And some that don't exist.
[2013/04/11 15:30] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): cant ban by age on parcel currently though that would be awesome would save those age banner scripts
[2013/04/11 15:31] Margithe: I'm thinking it's not only about control of troublemakers, but a better tool for making temporary groups for certain events, etc. I think there would be more uses than i can think of right now.
[2013/04/11 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: premium account enrollment only option as well, heh
[2013/04/11 15:31] Blake Burger: one thing that would be nice is to be able to set auto-return for group objects under certain roles. for example, just the everyone role gets their stuff returned after X time but owners stuff does not return..... :p
[2013/04/11 15:31] arton Rotaru: how about certificate of good conduct to join a group :p
[2013/04/11 15:31] RedMokum Bravin: Many estate owners aren't even premium. :-p
[2013/04/11 15:32] Motor Loon: also we'll need a photocopy of your passport, documentation of your bra-size (for the ladies) and your login password
[2013/04/11 15:32] NeoBokrug Elytis: hahaha
[2013/04/11 15:32] RedMokum Bravin: Group join with captcha against bots.
[2013/04/11 15:32] Vincent Nacon: no
[2013/04/11 15:33] Margithe: Ooooo
[2013/04/11 15:33] Inara Breen: Wasn't that the Aristotle Age Verification system, Motor? ;-)
[2013/04/11 15:33] Vincent Nacon: god no
[2013/04/11 15:33] Motor Loon: gawd no
[2013/04/11 15:33] Margithe: Why not?
[2013/04/11 15:33] Jenna Felton: Ability to leave a group temporally would be nice. So you can be in actuallly mor then 42 groups but at one time in 42 or less
[2013/04/11 15:33] Vincent Nacon: never the bloody captcha
[2013/04/11 15:33] RedMokum Bravin: hahahaha
[2013/04/11 15:33] Vincent Nacon: don't you even dare
[2013/04/11 15:33] Motor Loon: captcha sucks
[2013/04/11 15:34] Maestro Linden: http://www.geekzu.com/wp-content/uploads/HLIC/5e61683c3709f14ff7cff1f882f701b3.jpg
[2013/04/11 15:34] Jenna Felton: Leave temporally, or rejoin without conditions when left by oneself and not kiked from the group
[2013/04/11 15:34] Kennylex Luckless: griefer sucks more than captcha sucks
[2013/04/11 15:34] arton Rotaru: lol
[2013/04/11 15:34] Baker Linden: nice, Maestro. Wingdings captchas
[2013/04/11 15:34] RedMokum Bravin: Griefers come in every day. Group join you don't do every day. Or so I would hope.
[2013/04/11 15:34] Motor Loon: Good example Mæstro °͜°
[2013/04/11 15:35] MartinRJ Fayray: 'read out loud'
[2013/04/11 15:35] Vincent Nacon: yeah well... having both sucks... I'd take greifer over the combination of those two
[2013/04/11 15:35] Margithe: is that a catcha? It looked a bit like Mensa intelligtence test... i suppose we could use those for group joining conditions XD
[2013/04/11 15:35] Jenna Felton: About capcha. I read about someone who set up a porn site and let the visitors to solve capchas for the servers, the guy wanted spam into
[2013/04/11 15:35] RedMokum Bravin: And I never render display names because of all the unicode in use. Duh. :-p
[2013/04/11 15:35] Baker Linden: I think having a min age ban on a lot of aspects of SL (group join, parcel/region access, etc.) would really be an amazing improvement
[2013/04/11 15:36] arton Rotaru: I also only READ about porn sites^^
[2013/04/11 15:36] Vincent Nacon: aye
[2013/04/11 15:36] NeoBokrug Elytis: I dunno. I had that in my estate for a while and a lot of innocent people got ejected.
[2013/04/11 15:36] Motor Loon: most real "bad guys"... griefers and spammers, have a good library of alts... most of which are often rather old
[2013/04/11 15:36] NeoBokrug Elytis: It's unfriendly to new people who want to explore SL.
[2013/04/11 15:37] Margithe: Improvement, yes, at the same time new residents can't be pout in quarantine until they are a certain age, it can not be used as a deterrant for SL
[2013/04/11 15:37] Blake Burger: not sure if u seen my comment... "one thing that would be nice is to be able to set auto-return for group objects under certain roles. for example, just the everyone role gets their stuff returned after X time but owners stuff does not return..... :p"
[2013/04/11 15:37] Vincent Nacon: but I still think some kind of "rating" input from anyone could been helpful... too bad it got removed because everyone kept giving themselves positive rate by paying them to
[2013/04/11 15:37] NeoBokrug Elytis: For groups and the like, great, and if you want to manage your space like that -- it's cool too. But just throwing that out there.
[2013/04/11 15:37] Vincent Nacon: but only show anyone the percentage instead of actual count
[2013/04/11 15:37] Lucia Nightfire: I know what you mean Blake, but I think it needs to be setup with a role that has that power instead
[2013/04/11 15:38] Lucia Nightfire: such as a rental manager roll
[2013/04/11 15:38] Baker Linden: I'd imagine that residents who prefer to have a more private sim, or at least one that would be a bit less griefer friendly would prefer to have newbies wait until they're a week old before going in. I suppose that also would promote exclusion of regions ("noobs not allowed"), but I'd prefer to give residents the option to do so, rather than not.
[2013/04/11 15:38] Lucia Nightfire: a role that will only show group set stuff, not owned or deeded
[2013/04/11 15:38] Lucia Nightfire: in the prim owner's list
[2013/04/11 15:38] Blake Burger: well yeah. like a check box that says "role exempt from auto return" or something
[2013/04/11 15:38] Baker Linden: I mean, if you don't want that, then don't enable it. But for those that do, I'd like to give you that option.
[2013/04/11 15:38] NeoBokrug Elytis: I agree Baker.
[2013/04/11 15:39] Lucia Nightfire: not owned by the group owner or anyone that can return group set stuff either
[2013/04/11 15:39] MartinRJ Fayray: what about a viewer restriction? That would be the only way to stop un-registered bots from entering the land
[2013/04/11 15:39] MartinRJ Fayray: (those which are not marked as such)
[2013/04/11 15:40] RedMokum Bravin: I remember using the event list to jump somewhere, only to be rejected because of age once I arrived.
[2013/04/11 15:40] MartinRJ Fayray: Like, only allow access for clients which are listed in the TPVD (or registered bots)
[2013/04/11 15:40] Blake Burger: I have to run two groups for my sim so the general members have an auto return time limit and the people like moderators and operators have to be in a separate group that the land is set too. It would be nice to control what roles follow the auto-return time and what ones are exmpt is all im saying.
[2013/04/11 15:40] Motor Loon: it can be a dangerous road though... imagine a new resident finding themselves banned from 3/4 of the places they try to go in here... not sure that'd help on new user retention, they might not stick around to get "old enough" °͜°
[2013/04/11 15:40] Margithe: Blake- i think it would be better to define auto-return for each role separately. So one role could have 3 minutes autoreturn, another one week, yet another can not rez at all, etc
[2013/04/11 15:40] Baker Linden: exactly, Motor
[2013/04/11 15:41] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): you can fake a viewer client i believe
[2013/04/11 15:41] Motor Loon: We all want more active residents afterall
[2013/04/11 15:41] NeoBokrug Elytis: Motor: I think the user retention problems are because of a lack of orientation on how to use the SL client. But that's for another meeting. :)
[2013/04/11 15:41] Vincent Nacon: what about maxage?
[2013/04/11 15:41] Blake Burger: Margithe: that sounds nice but too much control could get messy too...
[2013/04/11 15:42] Kennylex Luckless: I see black lines shoot out from Bakers feet, is there a bug fix for that comming too?
[2013/04/11 15:42] Vincent Nacon: to filter out older and newer users
[2013/04/11 15:42] Baker Linden: or, we can just dump all the residents with minage into a parcel containing a prison.. so they can see what they're missing out on
[2013/04/11 15:42] Vincent Nacon: so you could create a proper environment for the newbies
[2013/04/11 15:42] MartinRJ Fayray: lol
[2013/04/11 15:42] MartinRJ Fayray: the corn fields
[2013/04/11 15:42] Baker Linden: lol
[2013/04/11 15:42] Vincent Nacon: more or less, yeah
[2013/04/11 15:42] Jenna Felton: the corn fields :)
[2013/04/11 15:42] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): mean linden! lol
[2013/04/11 15:43] Kennylex Luckless: Prison is classic from a film, timemafune bathtub.
[2013/04/11 15:43] Blake Burger: my april fools joke was we were going to turn our sim into a remake of the corn fields -lol
[2013/04/11 15:43] Margithe: Max age would be good too, there are groups for freebies for newbies etc
[2013/04/11 15:43] Jenna Felton: i think new residents need more kindergarden than a prison :)
[2013/04/11 15:43] Maestro Linden: would they get ejected once they get too 'old'?
[2013/04/11 15:44] Kennylex Luckless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOw5ocbGpGY
[2013/04/11 15:44] Vincent Nacon: sure it may sounds like the newbies would get flood of spams but... I think spammers would want to go after someone with money, instead of someone who is refresh new with no money at all
[2013/04/11 15:44] Baker Linden: Blake, I hear what you're saying on role-based parcel returns -- a friend was helping me build on my land and I wanted to let her stuff not auto-return, while everyone else's would. I didn't want to make a group for it, so I just had to deal with it.
[2013/04/11 15:44] Margithe: Ejected, yup. It would be nice to change that message though, so it's less offensive
[2013/04/11 15:45] Baker Linden: "You are too old to be here. We only want the fresh, new people. LATERS LOL!!!!11"
[2013/04/11 15:45] Blake Burger: i dont mind the new residents but i do like the idea of more control for new avatars to join groups to prevent trolls/griefers
[2013/04/11 15:45]  Lucia Nightfire: llReturnObjects()
[2013/04/11 15:45] NeoBokrug Elytis: ^^
[2013/04/11 15:46] Vincent Nacon: the only plus side I see for myself... I don't want to be around newbies and that might be a good solution to keep me out of such place. :P
[2013/04/11 15:46] Margithe: " Your membership in the group of **** has ended"
[2013/04/11 15:46] Margithe: instead of you are ejected from group
[2013/04/11 15:46] Jenna Felton: Greatly forumlated Margithe
[2013/04/11 15:46] Vincent Nacon: good wording
[2013/04/11 15:46] Blake Burger: yeah, i would love to allow group members to build within the return time, disallow non-group members from building and allow moderators and operators to be exempt.. I have been wishing for that for 5+ years now -LOL
[2013/04/11 15:46] Vincent Nacon: less personal sounding
[2013/04/11 15:47] Motor Loon: +1 for nicer eject messages
[2013/04/11 15:47] Lucia Nightfire: custom eject message option for the ejector, heh
[2013/04/11 15:47] Jenna Felton: you can extend t easilly with "has ended by xxx resident"
[2013/04/11 15:47] Lucia Nightfire: "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."
[2013/04/11 15:47] RedMokum Bravin: haha Lucia
[2013/04/11 15:47] Baker Linden: Well, I've proposed to include a "ban reason" field
[2013/04/11 15:48] RedMokum Bravin: "Your username appears to contain HITLER. You have therefore been obliterated."
[2013/04/11 15:48] Margithe: Sometimes i join hunts etc with temporary groups, and each time i see the ejection message my pulse goes up. Like, what did i do wrong???
[2013/04/11 15:48] Baker Linden: For now, I'm planning on making it a few premade options, like "Griefing Region" or "Being a PoopyHead"
[2013/04/11 15:48] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): if were on it.. letting admins do temp bans on parcels would be good to via the viewer vs a hacked up script ... sometimes dont want perm ban someone.. would work good for groups too ban for 24 hours is needed
[2013/04/11 15:48] Vincent Nacon: Your membership in the group of **** has ended. Reason: "You sucks!"
[2013/04/11 15:48] Baker Linden: so then they would know why they were ejected.
[2013/04/11 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: lol, Baker
[2013/04/11 15:48] Baker Linden: I always eject poopyheads from my groups
[2013/04/11 15:48] Baker Linden: don't know about you guys
[2013/04/11 15:48] NeoBokrug Elytis: Any insights on the progress of the experience tools? :)
[2013/04/11 15:49] Vincent Nacon: I gave up being admin long ago
[2013/04/11 15:49] Vincent Nacon: to find my own peace
[2013/04/11 15:49] Margithe: I love my poopyheads, They make life colorful.
[2013/04/11 15:49] Baker Linden: I don't have any info on that, Neo. Sorry.
[2013/04/11 15:49] Baker Linden: Someone else might
[2013/04/11 15:49] Jenna Felton: /me would like to konw that too, very much: [15:48] NeoBokrug Elytis: Any insights on the progress of the experience tools? :)
[2013/04/11 15:50] Nal (nalates.urriah): That question has come up several times recently.
[2013/04/11 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: SCR-382 <--yeah, like when will this be fixed
[2013/04/11 15:50] Lares Carter: I don't think group role based auto-return would work out. Group role based rez rights already doesn't fully work when the avatar in question is offline. The autoreturn time might hit when the avatar is not online anymore.
[2013/04/11 15:50] Jenna Felton: Lindens are like a rock, not offering any info :)
[2013/04/11 15:50] Kennylex Luckless: A grifer... ban him... no, it was Dan Linden.
[2013/04/11 15:51] Maestro Linden: Jenna, I know that it's being worked on, but don't know what the ETA is for that project hitting RC
[2013/04/11 15:51] Vincent Nacon: don't remember Dan looking like that
[2013/04/11 15:52] Jenna Felton: ok, thank you Maestro
[2013/04/11 15:54] Jenna Felton: a little word about animation override. It is good part for banning the old scripted AOs. But they can not reduce lag completelly. Because scripts need to grab controls in order to say alive on no-script areas
[2013/04/11 15:54] Jenna Felton: I would like to have a command that when issued keeps the script running, without the hack of grabing controls
[2013/04/11 15:54] Vincent Nacon: client-side AO would have been better
[2013/04/11 15:54] Maestro Linden: actually, you can detach a script using the new AO system after it sets the overrides
[2013/04/11 15:55] Maestro Linden: and the AO will remain for the rest of the session
[2013/04/11 15:55] Lucia Nightfire: I know who else would too, heh.
[2013/04/11 15:55] Jenna Felton: than the script can run a overriding action every 30s without being active all the time even when the parcel not allows script running
[2013/04/11 15:55] Margithe: until you sit on something in the no-script area.
[2013/04/11 15:55] Maestro Linden: nope, the new AO system replaces your default animations, Margithe. The replacement lasts until you login again
[2013/04/11 15:55] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): changes are server
[2013/04/11 15:56] Vincent Nacon: yeah but it won't be a solution for having more than 5 or 8 different kind of standing poses and actually have a swimming pose set too
[2013/04/11 15:56] Jenna Felton: the AOs change sometimes the stand animation every 30 second or so. and when parcel not allows scripts you need grab controls in order the script keeps running
[2013/04/11 15:56] Maestro Linden: scripts are only required to run when the AO is set
[2013/04/11 15:56] Vincent Nacon: not forget to mention more than 5 different kinds of sit poses
[2013/04/11 15:57] Vincent Nacon: but SL only has one
[2013/04/11 15:57] Lucia Nightfire: which is where client AO shines, ya
[2013/04/11 15:57] Vincent Nacon: yup
[2013/04/11 15:58] Jenna Felton: when we had somethink like llKeepAlive() or so, than it would be perfect. Perhaps even with condition that only that one script in whole prim/object keeps runing and the rest not.
[2013/04/11 15:58] arton Rotaru: then you can give up on no script entirly
[2013/04/11 15:59] Margithe: Is there any specific reason why we aren't moving to client-side AO's entirely?
[2013/04/11 15:59] Margithe: (also with better default animations from the start)
[2013/04/11 16:00] Vincent Nacon: I got a feeling that LL doesn't like to adapt new feature that came from one of the TPVs
[2013/04/11 16:00] tehKellz (kelly.linden): The server maintains an animation state for all accounts, there are no plans that I'm aware of to change this though we don't have anything against viewer side AOs that I'm aware of.
[2013/04/11 16:00] MartinRJ Fayray: client-side AO's can't be scripted, and therefore don't have so much use
[2013/04/11 16:01] Vincent Nacon: why would you need to script it?
[2013/04/11 16:01] Jenna Felton: the client-side AO has a latency problem. The viewer must tell the sim what animation to run, than the sim tells other viewers. A server-side AO knows immediatelly what animation is to run
[2013/04/11 16:01] Vincent Nacon: it has everything you need
[2013/04/11 16:01] Maestro Linden: Jenna beat me to it
[2013/04/11 16:01] tehKellz (kelly.linden): These override LSL functions are merely hooks into the existing system, not a replacement for the existing system at this time.
[2013/04/11 16:01] Jenna Felton: thanks. :)
[2013/04/11 16:01] Maestro Linden: that's the main disadvantage of client-side AO
[2013/04/11 16:01] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): some downside to client side aos getting stuck in animations least for me... script overrider changes the sl default animation.. if LL makes it persist evena fter relog will be nice
[2013/04/11 16:01] Maestro Linden: in my opinion
[2013/04/11 16:01] Vincent Nacon: doesn't mean the server can't keep track of it
[2013/04/11 16:02] Margithe: I'm thinking of aligning it with better new user expirience, where the new user can learn one AO system, directly in the viewer instead of having to choose between different brand. I mean, they can do that, later, but something rudimentary should be in place from the start.
[2013/04/11 16:02] MartinRJ Fayray: AOs often are not only animations of movement, imagine a weapon AO, vincent, for example, you need more than only the default animations, which you can't get with a clientside-AO, also you want that all players of a RP-game for example use the same set of animations
[2013/04/11 16:03] tehKellz (kelly.linden): if the server is tracking it, then it is a server side AO. It may be possible to create a cap so that a viewer can do the same thing the LSL calls do, only without an LSL script if some TPVs are interested in that idea.
[2013/04/11 16:03] TMT Professional Pose Stand V4.512: I will stick around for the next 5 mins or so
[2013/04/11 16:03] TMT Professional Pose Stand V4.512: It was nice working with you. Goodbye
[2013/04/11 16:03] Vincent Nacon: actually... the inventory is server-side... why not just have a special folder for AO and just drop your animations there?
[2013/04/11 16:03] tehKellz (kelly.linden): Vincent: that falls under designing a whole new animation system.
[2013/04/11 16:03] Jenna Felton: interesting idea incent
[2013/04/11 16:03] Vincent Nacon: with sub-folders for each set like walking, crouching, jumping etc etc
[2013/04/11 16:03] Jenna Felton: Vincent
[2013/04/11 16:04] Margithe: thats sound enormously nice, Vincent
[2013/04/11 16:04] Maestro Linden: Okay guys, we're out of time
[2013/04/11 16:04] arton Rotaru: yup
[2013/04/11 16:04] Vincent Nacon: but that's pretty much the same way how client-AO works
[2013/04/11 16:04] arton Rotaru: thx for the meeting
[2013/04/11 16:04] Nal (nalates.urriah): Thanks Lindens
[2013/04/11 16:04] Vincent Nacon: only omit the notecard
[2013/04/11 16:04] Jenna Felton: yes. that was an interesting meeting. Thank you Lindens
[2013/04/11 16:04] Baker Linden: Thanks for coming everyone! Have a great weekend!
[2013/04/11 16:04] Maestro Linden: thanks for coming!
[2013/04/11 16:04] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): thanks lindens
[2013/04/11 16:04] Margithe: Thats for listening :) have a great weekend!
[2013/04/11 16:04] Margithe: thanks*
[2013/04/11 16:04] Inara Breen: Tanks, Maestro, Baker, Kelly.
[2013/04/11 16:04] Blake Burger: thanks see you all later :)
[2013/04/11 16:04] Vincent Nacon: take care all
[2013/04/11 16:05] Kennylex Luckless: All Lindens has to use trampoline before logging off, please give us a lol.
[2013/04/11 16:05] MartinRJ Fayray: goodbye
[2013/04/11 16:05] Baker Linden: Also, thanks for the great feedback and suggestions today!
[2013/04/11 16:05] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Thank you, Lindens.
[2013/04/11 16:05] Kennylex Luckless: :-D
[2013/04/11 16:05] Nicc (niccole.inglewood): lol
[2013/04/11 16:05] arton Rotaru: chicken hunt :p
