[2013/05/30 14:59] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, VoidPointer.
[2013/05/30 15:00] Maestro Linden: Hi guys
[2013/05/30 15:01] Inara Breen: Hey, Maestro
[2013/05/30 15:01] Nal (nalates.urriah): Hi
[2013/05/30 15:01] Theresa Tennyson: Hello!
[2013/05/30 15:01] Jenna Felton: hello Maestro
[2013/05/30 15:01] arton Rotaru: Aloha
[2013/05/30 15:01] Jenna Felton: and hello all
[2013/05/30 15:02] VoidPointer Linden: Caleb, the bag is winning
[2013/05/30 15:02] Caleb Linden: aww
[2013/05/30 15:03] Maestro Linden: heh, weren't you shorter before, caleb?
[2013/05/30 15:03] Rex Cronon: hello everybody
[2013/05/30 15:03] Jenna Felton: hi Rex
[2013/05/30 15:04] Rex Cronon: hi jenna
[2013/05/30 15:04] Maestro Linden: It feels weird to have this meeting on an RC roll day
[2013/05/30 15:04] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Nalates.
[2013/05/30 15:04] Maestro Linden: we'll be back to normal next week, I think
[2013/05/30 15:04] Maestro Linden: anyway, let's get started: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group#Agenda
[2013/05/30 15:05] Maestro Linden: First.. updates
[2013/05/30 15:05] Nal (nalates.urriah): Hey Yuzuru
[2013/05/30 15:05] Maestro Linden: The rolls this week were delayed by a day due to a holiday in the US
[2013/05/30 15:05] Maestro Linden: (Memorial Day)
[2013/05/30 15:06] Maestro Linden: So the main channel roll was yesterday and the RC rolls were today
[2013/05/30 15:06] Maestro Linden: the main channel got the server-maintenance project with the new JSON functions,
[2013/05/30 15:07] Maestro Linden: and there were some bugfixes such as fixing ground-sitting with the recently-added AO function
[2013/05/30 15:07] Rex Cronon: if we got arrays instead of json functions ould have been much more intresting:0
[2013/05/30 15:07] Rex Cronon: would have*
[2013/05/30 15:08] Maestro Linden: Yes, that would be pretty interesting, but I'm sure it would be more difficult to add as well
[2013/05/30 15:08] Lucia Nightfire: I'm still waiting for buildable global/local names and labels
[2013/05/30 15:08] Lucia Nightfire: liek any other prog language
[2013/05/30 15:09] Maestro Linden: Kelly would be the person to talk to about that stuff
[2013/05/30 15:09] VoidPointer Linden: yup
[2013/05/30 15:09] Maestro Linden: For the RCs.. all three channels got the interest list update this morning
[2013/05/30 15:10] Duckie Dickins: At least you haven't gotten a "no" yet. :) I brought up sockets again to kelly and got a "no" :D
[2013/05/30 15:10] VoidPointer Linden: heh
[2013/05/30 15:10] Maestro Linden: the interest list update was previously only on LeTigre
[2013/05/30 15:11] Maestro Linden: this week's update fixed a relatively rare new crash mode
[2013/05/30 15:11] Maestro Linden: and otherwise just included the changes that went into main channel
[2013/05/30 15:11] Lucia Nightfire: theres something thats been crashing all teh channels at an increased rate over teh last week
[2013/05/30 15:11] Maestro Linden: scene loading is supposed to be slightly faster with these changes - has anybody noticed a difference ?
[2013/05/30 15:12] arton Rotaru: I jst visited an empty LeTigre region last week ^^
[2013/05/30 15:13] Maestro Linden: Yes there was, Lucia
[2013/05/30 15:13] Maestro Linden: one crash mode seems to be fixed
[2013/05/30 15:13] Maestro Linden: due to a non-simulator update
[2013/05/30 15:13] Rex Cronon: well. scene loading is relative to what is in it and to other things. is kind of hard if it loads any faster
[2013/05/30 15:13] Rex Cronon: hard to determine if*
[2013/05/30 15:14] Maestro Linden: yeah, you have to do an apples-to-apples comparison, really
[2013/05/30 15:14] VoidPointer Linden: should be easier to see in more complex/dense regions I imagine
[2013/05/30 15:14] Lucia Nightfire: as far as scene loading I haven't noticed a change on primmy LeTigre regions
[2013/05/30 15:14] Maestro Linden: and it's also heavily affected by how much your viewer had cached
[2013/05/30 15:15] Lucia Nightfire: I thought Andrew said that change may not be really noticeable too. Guess you'd have to really be looking for it or already had significant problems.
[2013/05/30 15:15] Maestro Linden: Yes, I think that's true
[2013/05/30 15:16] arton Rotaru: as long as it isn't slower than before, everything is fine
[2013/05/30 15:16] Maestro Linden: we haven't gotten much feedback, but then again LeTigre is a small % of the grid
[2013/05/30 15:16] Maestro Linden: /me nods
[2013/05/30 15:17] Maestro Linden: there is one medium-hot issue on the grid, recently
[2013/05/30 15:17] Jenna Felton: and how many people are around and what wearing :) I can only reort that my problem with client-side radar lost nearby residents when they are ouf of the camera. that problem i had last week on Leigre and it is gone after prevous letigre update. buti told that to Andrew
[2013/05/30 15:17] Maestro Linden: which isn't a crash, but disconnects multiple avatars from the sim suddenly (which looks very similar to a crash from the viewer's perspective)
[2013/05/30 15:17] Lucia Nightfire: seen that alot too
[2013/05/30 15:17] VoidPointer Linden: /me nods
[2013/05/30 15:17] Maestro Linden: I found out this morning that it can also cause http-in LSL scripts to lose their URLs
[2013/05/30 15:18] arton Rotaru: aha
[2013/05/30 15:18] Lucia Nightfire: makes since, heh
[2013/05/30 15:19] Maestro Linden: the viewer disconnection happens because the viewer suddenly gets a 404 when it reaches the EventPoll cap
[2013/05/30 15:19] Whirly Fizzle: Kadah made a char with the data that comes from LL for Linden & TPV viewers. You can see the disconnects going way up over last 2-3 weeks http://i.imgur.com/v1f6KLn.png
[2013/05/30 15:19] Rex Cronon: can a script detect is loosing its url?
[2013/05/30 15:19] Whirly Fizzle: *chart
[2013/05/30 15:19] Maestro Linden: yes Rex
[2013/05/30 15:20] Maestro Linden: to investigate, I had a script take a URL, then connect to itself with llHTTPRequest every few seconds
[2013/05/30 15:20] Maestro Linden: then IM me if something went wrong
[2013/05/30 15:20] Maestro Linden: I've heard of scripters doing that in general to monitor for URLs which wre somehow 'lost'
[2013/05/30 15:20] Rex Cronon: i mean u need a event to be triggered
[2013/05/30 15:20] arton Rotaru: yeah, I check mine once a day
[2013/05/30 15:21] Lucia Nightfire: I have such devices doign that to let me know when caps fail
[2013/05/30 15:21] Lucia Nightfire: as well as sims goign offline
[2013/05/30 15:21] Lucia Nightfire: and griefers dropping td/fps laggers in the region
[2013/05/30 15:22] Rex Cronon: "td/fps"?
[2013/05/30 15:22] Maestro Linden: I believe caleb is testing the fix for the caps loss issue today
[2013/05/30 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: time dialation, frame rate
[2013/05/30 15:22] Rex Cronon: oh
[2013/05/30 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: *dilatiobn
[2013/05/30 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: ugh, forget me typing
[2013/05/30 15:24] Rex Cronon: those things r nasty. u can't rez, and your attachments r not showing. somebody that has an armor will look naked:(
[2013/05/30 15:24] Lucia Nightfire: and in some cases the sim will crash, heh
[2013/05/30 15:24] Lucia Nightfire: so, the recent crash bug was already addressed in the RC roll outs?
[2013/05/30 15:25] Maestro Linden: I tend to bake in modesty areas to my avatar in case there's a wardrobe malfunction
[2013/05/30 15:25] arton Rotaru: lol
[2013/05/30 15:25] Maestro Linden: not the 'disconnection' one, but another one, Lucia
[2013/05/30 15:25] Maestro Linden: it was fixed around 6pm last night
[2013/05/30 15:25] Maestro Linden: by a patch to a grid-wide service
[2013/05/30 15:26] Lucia Nightfire: the last mass region crashing I saw was around 1600
[2013/05/30 15:26] Lucia Nightfire: last night
[2013/05/30 15:26] Rex Cronon: have u seen my avatar without attahments. i almost look like slender man:)
[2013/05/30 15:26] Jenna Felton: is it possible to encload the avatar until the last attachment is completely load?
[2013/05/30 15:26] Lucia Nightfire: so hopefully thats the crash bug thats been happenign ot me that was fixed
[2013/05/30 15:26] Jenna Felton: i gues that with SSA, the avatar body will load much faster than attachents making the avie nakie
[2013/05/30 15:27] Jenna Felton: encload i mean make it cloud
[2013/05/30 15:27] Duckie Dickins: Those wardrobe malfunctions where you look perfectly fine to yourself but half dressed to everyone else still seem to happen from time to time but I'm guessing that it might be a caching issue.
[2013/05/30 15:27] Whirly Fizzle: That one should be fixed with SSA
[2013/05/30 15:28] Maestro Linden: That seems like it would be possible for your local viewer, Jenna. I would think that the viewer would have the list of attachments to download/render fairly early on..
[2013/05/30 15:29] Jenna Felton: that means the viewers should implement that "mke avatr cloud until fully load" feature? I mean aleo the TPV
[2013/05/30 15:30] Jenna Felton: also*
[2013/05/30 15:30] VoidPointer Linden: yeah, that would almost certainly be a viewer effect
[2013/05/30 15:30] Jenna Felton: ok
[2013/05/30 15:30] Duckie Dickins: Or render you as a hippo until you're dressed....:)
[2013/05/30 15:30] Theresa Tennyson: Also, doesn't SSA ONLY make a difference when you're changing clothes, etc? If you've been dressed for a while the process of getting an avatar bake should be the smae.
[2013/05/30 15:30] Jenna Felton: hehe
[2013/05/30 15:30] Rex Cronon: i guess u will remain a cloud if due to heavy griefing attachements can't laod
[2013/05/30 15:31] VoidPointer Linden: yeah, was thinking that the chances of remaining a cloud are good with lots of network traffic
[2013/05/30 15:31] VoidPointer Linden: would want to build in some safeguards to re-try after a bit maybe
[2013/05/30 15:31] Maestro Linden: speaking of loading avatars, I found a materials viweer bug last night (fixed today), where my swimsuit wouldn't render to people with certain graphics settings
[2013/05/30 15:31] Jenna Felton: i am ok with being cloud. as long i know why :)
[2013/05/30 15:32] Jenna Felton: oh
[2013/05/30 15:32] Maestro Linden: that was considered a blocker for sure :)
[2013/05/30 15:32] arton Rotaru: lol
[2013/05/30 15:32] VoidPointer Linden: Not sure most users would agree, Jenna :)
[2013/05/30 15:32] Duckie Dickins: unless you have a preference for skinny dipping ken dolls
[2013/05/30 15:32] Rex Cronon: going bare:)
[2013/05/30 15:32] arton Rotaru: there are a lot of issues with the mat viewer IMO
[2013/05/30 15:33] Maestro Linden: rendering stuff, arton?
[2013/05/30 15:34] arton Rotaru: in comparison to the release viewer at least
[2013/05/30 15:34] arton Rotaru: yep
[2013/05/30 15:34] Maestro Linden: (btw if any of you have more relevant topics to this meeting, do interrupt us)
[2013/05/30 15:34] arton Rotaru: transparency is too transparent. shiny is too strong, glow is too strong
[2013/05/30 15:34] arton Rotaru: under water is too dark
[2013/05/30 15:34] arton Rotaru: stuff like that
[2013/05/30 15:34] Lucia Nightfire: whens the press release for the experience project changes, heh
[2013/05/30 15:34] Theresa Tennyson: Is the server side of the baking code nearing release?
[2013/05/30 15:35] Duckie Dickins: I dunno if it's open topic time but I'l lthrow it out there anyways because that's how I roll. :P Has there been any resolutions with the asset storage thingy on Aditi. I'm in need of syncing my inventory again and really hate going through the week long process of changing my password every time it fails.....
[2013/05/30 15:35] Rex Cronon: ok. there seems to be a problem with "moving_end" event. sometimes it doesn't trigger
[2013/05/30 15:36] Rex Cronon: duckie i heard that u can use same pass when u change it:)
[2013/05/30 15:36] Duckie Dickins: Yes rex I'm aware of that, however you have a 24 hour wait between attempts at getting your inventory loaded properly on Aditi
[2013/05/30 15:36] Maestro Linden: I haven't tried the agni->aditi inventory sync recently, Duckie. But perhaps somebody else here has?
[2013/05/30 15:37] arton Rotaru: at least there hasn't been any complaints about adit lately
[2013/05/30 15:37] Whirly Fizzle: No way after what happened last time. You go 1st :P
[2013/05/30 15:37] Duckie Dickins: exactly. :D
[2013/05/30 15:37] Jenna Felton: when you change password to update your inventory on Aditi, or even so. Never log in into aditi wit LL beta viewer. It corrupts your accound somehow. Wit 2 days and log in with official viewer. Than you can relog in any viewer you want.
[2013/05/30 15:37] Whirly Fizzle: You can fix yourself easier ;)
[2013/05/30 15:37] Jenna Felton: Wit - wait
[2013/05/30 15:38] Jenna Felton: this worked for me after weeks of issues :)
[2013/05/30 15:38] Duckie Dickins: Yeah..Maestro can run down to the NOC and bribe someone with starbucks to get his inventory fixed. :)
[2013/05/30 15:39] Whirly Fizzle: Youre "it" Maestro
[2013/05/30 15:39] Maestro Linden: :O
[2013/05/30 15:39] Maestro Linden: Okay, maybe I'll try with a lesser-used alt account
[2013/05/30 15:39] Duckie Dickins: If some of your attachments stop working..you know it's broken still. :D
[2013/05/30 15:39] Whirly Fizzle: hahaha
[2013/05/30 15:39] Maestro Linden: My aditi inventory is actually way more useful than what I have on Agni, since this is where the testing happens
[2013/05/30 15:39] Rex Cronon: btw. does anybody know why i get lots of thes ""WARNING: LLViewerRegion::setSeedCapability: Ignoring duplicate seed capability"
[2013/05/30 15:40] Duckie Dickins: That's exactly the kind of incentive we need to get the issue resolved promptly. :D
[2013/05/30 15:42] Maestro Linden: Arton, I passed your comment about the materials viewer rendering issues on to the devs; they're generally aware of some issues where rendering is different, but would like to gather some specific test cases in which it's "wrong"
[2013/05/30 15:42] arton Rotaru: ah oke
[2013/05/30 15:43] arton Rotaru: maybe I write it up on the jira?
[2013/05/30 15:43] Maestro Linden: yeah, that would be perfect, in MATBUG
[2013/05/30 15:43] Maestro Linden: with details about where to find the test objects and maybe a comparison shot
[2013/05/30 15:43] arton Rotaru: all issues combined in one jira, or one for each issue
[2013/05/30 15:44] Maestro Linden: (or if making test objects is easy, that's fine too)
[2013/05/30 15:44] arton Rotaru: okies, will do tommorow
[2013/05/30 15:44] Maestro Linden: I would err on the side of multiple Jiras
[2013/05/30 15:44] Maestro Linden: thanks
[2013/05/30 15:44] arton Rotaru: okay
[2013/05/30 15:44] Maestro Linden: when too many issues are combined together, things get confusing when some of them are fixed
[2013/05/30 15:44] Maestro Linden: (but some aren't)
[2013/05/30 15:45] arton Rotaru: right
[2013/05/30 15:47] Theresa Tennyson: Do you know what projects are planned for the RC's next week?
[2013/05/30 15:47] Nal (nalates.urriah): Any news on when we may see some SSA enabled regionsin AGNI?
[2013/05/30 15:47] Maestro Linden: let me ask the SSA team, Nal
[2013/05/30 15:48] Nal (nalates.urriah): Thx
[2013/05/30 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: shineys, when, where, what
[2013/05/30 15:48] Whirly Fizzle: Theres 2 regions enabled for TPVs to test on atm. Testy sandbox & Lagland.
[2013/05/30 15:48] Whirly Fizzle: But they are not public access. Which is a good job because https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SUN-74 was found y'day
[2013/05/30 15:49] Rex Cronon: lagland:)
[2013/05/30 15:49] Nal (nalates.urriah): Thx Whirly
[2013/05/30 15:49] arton Rotaru: someone mentioned region testsylvania
[2013/05/30 15:50] Maestro Linden: yes, but that's a closed beta
[2013/05/30 15:51] Maestro Linden: that's not a pretty screenshot, whirly :)
[2013/05/30 15:52] Whirly Fizzle: No. OMG, I was in some states y'day hahahaha
[2013/05/30 15:52] Jenna Felton: how can an asset become corrupted at all? i thought assets are read-only entities
[2013/05/30 15:52] Whirly Fizzle: & the assets are permanantly corrupted when this happens
[2013/05/30 15:52] Maestro Linden: on the other hand, this is pretty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm_-9GRa2X0
[2013/05/30 15:52] Maestro Linden: ouch
[2013/05/30 15:52] Whirly Fizzle: It will only happen if they are mod
[2013/05/30 15:52] Maestro Linden: i'm surprised that's possible
[2013/05/30 15:53] Whirly Fizzle: But atm, basicaly, if you TP from a non SSA region to an SSA region on a non SSA viewer and you are wearing mod skin, eyes or hairbase, you have a good chance of those assets being corrupted.
[2013/05/30 15:53] Maestro Linden: Nal, I haven't received a reply yet, but I suspect the public access beta won't be immediately available, given that issue..
[2013/05/30 15:54] Nal (nalates.urriah): ok, thx
[2013/05/30 15:55] arton Rotaru: this corruption issue never happened on aditi before?
[2013/05/30 15:57] Nal (nalates.urriah): Whirly, is that corruption until you relog, or permanent?
[2013/05/30 15:57] Maestro Linden: I hadn't heard of it, Arton. But I haven't followed the project very closely, outside of the pileon or two that we had.
[2013/05/30 15:57] VoidPointer Linden: and it happens even if you clear the viewer cache?
[2013/05/30 15:57] arton Rotaru: odd
[2013/05/30 15:57] Whirly Fizzle: Permanant. You can pass the assets to other avatars and they are corrupted for them also. Relog makes no difference, leaving the SSA region makes no difference
[2013/05/30 15:58] Nal (nalates.urriah): THAT is a problem
[2013/05/30 15:58] VoidPointer Linden: /me nods
[2013/05/30 15:58] Whirly Fizzle: Cache clear makes no difference
[2013/05/30 15:58] Theresa Tennyson: Arton, I'd imagine it would be very rare for someone to want to visit the SSA testing regions when using a non-SSA viewer.
[2013/05/30 15:58] Jenna Felton: this is a very heavy problem
[2013/05/30 15:58] Rex Cronon: what kind of assets?
[2013/05/30 15:58] Whirly Fizzle: They really are corripted lol
[2013/05/30 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: the asset got corrupted or the SSA servers are using corrupted data?
[2013/05/30 15:59] Whirly Fizzle: WEll, its not as bad as it sounds. because you have to go from a non SSA region to an SSA region to get the corruption as far as we could see, so as long as the SSA switch is flipped over grid wide, its not an issue.
[2013/05/30 15:59] Whirly Fizzle: Its an issue for getting public beta regions up though
[2013/05/30 16:00] arton Rotaru: ah it's just with non SSA viewers, (haven't read the jira)
[2013/05/30 16:00] Duckie Dickins: so you shouldn't teleport there...but log into that region
[2013/05/30 16:00] Whirly Fizzle: If anyones interested in being given corrupted assets made this way, ping me on main grid
[2013/05/30 16:00] Jenna Felton: i think man people would change to a SSA - enabled viewer *after* the SSA is activated on the grid and theyr apperance got wrong. This will potentially corrupt many apperance assets
[2013/05/30 16:00] Whirly Fizzle: Well, the assets are corripted in any viewer once they are broken
[2013/05/30 16:01] Jenna Felton: *many* people
[2013/05/30 16:01] Rex Cronon: by assets u mean textures?
[2013/05/30 16:01] Whirly Fizzle: WE couldnt repro if we logged into an SSA region. Only if we logged into a non-SSA and TP'd to an SSA region wearing mod skin, eyes, hairbase. Shape didn't seem affected
[2013/05/30 16:02] Jenna Felton: ah ok
