[2014/12/18 15:01] Rex Cronon: last week i had very bad wireless connection. now i am trying different usb wireles adapters

[2014/12/18 15:02] Jenna Felton: hi Theresa

[2014/12/18 15:02] Theresa Tennyson: Hello!

[2014/12/18 15:02] Jenna Felton: wireless is i beleive not good for SL generally

[2014/12/18 15:03] Margithe: depends on the wireless ... to a certain point it's ok... but when it's bad, it's REALLY bad

[2014/12/18 15:03] Jenna Felton: ok

[2014/12/18 15:03] Jenna Felton: hello Simon :)

[2014/12/18 15:03] Simon Linden: Hi everyone

[2014/12/18 15:03] Rex Cronon: 4 me was relatively ok as long as people didn't try to hack my connection

[2014/12/18 15:03] Caleb Linden: hi simon

[2014/12/18 15:04] Whirly Fizzle: Heya Simon

[2014/12/18 15:04] Rex Cronon: hi simon

[2014/12/18 15:04] SnipiTestFS: Hi Simon

[2014/12/18 15:04] Margithe: my other PC was doing just fine with wireless... this one i got an adapter for, and that didn't work at all.

[2014/12/18 15:05] Jonathan Yap: Do not try to use a N adapter if you are too far away

[2014/12/18 15:05] Caleb Linden: let's give it 1 more minute

[2014/12/18 15:05] Rex Cronon: why jonathan?

[2014/12/18 15:05] Margithe: Not far away but apparently the N adapter didn't like it much.. so i either had great sped or none.

[2014/12/18 15:05] Whirly Fizzle: Simon, are you wearing mesh? Because Im not seeing it...

[2014/12/18 15:05] Jonathan Yap: The signal strength drops off too quickly and you lose speed

[2014/12/18 15:06] Rex Cronon: hmm

[2014/12/18 15:06] Caleb Linden: i think his boots are missing

[2014/12/18 15:06] Whirly Fizzle: No hat lol

[2014/12/18 15:06] Caleb Linden: oh yeah, hat too

[2014/12/18 15:06] Jonathan Yap: Type N signals are much "wider" than the other types

[2014/12/18 15:06] Rex Cronon: u see simon naked? lol

[2014/12/18 15:06] Whirly Fizzle: No attachments at all actually

[2014/12/18 15:06] SnipiTestFS: yes..no hat and boots....

[2014/12/18 15:06] Whirly Fizzle: Not just me then, good  :)

[2014/12/18 15:07] Jenna Felton: Simon is missing boots for me and hair unless he wears balg

[2014/12/18 15:07] Caleb Linden: anyways, here are the updates for this week https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group. We are going to resume our SBUG meeting on January 8th after this one.

[2014/12/18 15:08] Caleb Linden: 1) Our new group chat server went out this week. We are wrapping up our deployment to a few more hosts but it should be done.

[2014/12/18 15:08] Rex Cronon: what? no meeting on christmas and on first day of new year:)

[2014/12/18 15:09] Caleb Linden: :) it's always a party here. throughout the year.

[2014/12/18 15:09] Caleb Linden: 2) Experience Tools went out on Main Channel. yay

[2014/12/18 15:10] Jenna Felton: /me smiles

[2014/12/18 15:10] Caleb Linden: 3) Mini CDN testing happened this morning on RC Bluesteel

[2014/12/18 15:10] Jenna Felton: hi Duckie

[2014/12/18 15:10] Caleb Linden: 4) Maestro can't make it today :(

[2014/12/18 15:11] Rex Cronon: what is "mini cdn"?

[2014/12/18 15:12] Jenna Felton: mini test :)

[2014/12/18 15:12] Rex Cronon: oh. u just pinch it?

[2014/12/18 15:12] Lucia Nightfire: I think I know what it is, heh

[2014/12/18 15:12] Lucia Nightfire: but I'm nto allowed to say

[2014/12/18 15:13] Whirly Fizzle: Is that the same other CDN running here now?

[2014/12/18 15:13] Whirly Fizzle: Caps say its different

[2014/12/18 15:13] Whirly Fizzle: GetMesh2 URL is http://asset-cdn.glb.aditi.lindenlab.com

[2014/12/18 15:13] Caleb Linden: well, in maestro's own words he checked out a more flexible CDN config that is going to make it easier for us to deal with fall overs.

[2014/12/18 15:13] Caleb Linden: or something like that

[2014/12/18 15:14] Simon Linden: Dang Whirly, nothing gets by you

[2014/12/18 15:14] Caleb Linden: but this shiny is going to be part of an official server release next year

[2014/12/18 15:15] Rex Cronon: AFK...............................

[2014/12/18 15:15] Rex Cronon: afk

[2014/12/18 15:15] Whirly Fizzle: Thats why I was wondering about Simons missing mesh  ;)

[2014/12/18 15:15] Simon Linden: It should be invisible normally but lets us have better control of where the viewer gets those mesh and texture assets

[2014/12/18 15:16] arton Rotaru: invisible is correct, like your boots :p

[2014/12/18 15:17] Hexapoda: I'm here, you can begin the meeting now.

[2014/12/18 15:18] Simon Linden: I see my boots fine ... is it the dance ball height?

[2014/12/18 15:18] Caleb Linden: we were waiting for you

[2014/12/18 15:18] Jenna Felton: can the usage of CDN make it possible, finally, to use a private asset network, for example a server installed locally for a SL clss? that would give the creators a kind of control to keep the mesh and textures at their own place :)

[2014/12/18 15:18] Whirly Fizzle: You have no attachments on at all

[2014/12/18 15:18] Simon Linden: oh, I think I know what happened ... same bug Maestro hit last week

[2014/12/18 15:18] Jenna Felton: *SL class*

[2014/12/18 15:19] Whirly Fizzle: Same as Maestro last week after he was on a "test grid"

[2014/12/18 15:19] Simon Linden: I was just working on that

[2014/12/18 15:19] arton Rotaru: yeah

[2014/12/18 15:20] Jenna Felton: you worked with Maestro and inherrited his bug? thats interesting :)

[2014/12/18 15:20] Hexapoda: I need to ask, has it been any strange server bug today? I grief did spread over a large are in the old SF sim and even over land with No Build enabled?

[2014/12/18 15:20] Lucia Nightfire: what was that second sentence?

[2014/12/18 15:20] Simon Linden: we haven't shipped new server code in over a week

[2014/12/18 15:21] Simon Linden: brb

[2014/12/18 15:23] Caleb Linden: Hexapoda, you can file a support case for that with region names affected.

[2014/12/18 15:23] Lucia Nightfire: just don't include the word "grief" heh

[2014/12/18 15:24] Lucia Nightfire: support sees "grief" as a GOTO for "File an AR"

[2014/12/18 15:24] Hexapoda: I did a normal AR, but that was stupid for the user that stand as owner of the grief was tricked by a griefer gift :( But it did spread to Varney and Da Haro in a strange way.

[2014/12/18 15:24] Jenna Felton: so, rezzing on a sim with no-build allowed, is stil possible. Or that griefer was allowed to build there in some way

[2014/12/18 15:25] Caleb Linden: we'll get someone check out varney and da haro. is it still there?

[2014/12/18 15:25] Jenna Felton: WB Simon

[2014/12/18 15:25] Lucia Nightfire: if the owner was a GM,EO,EM then their rezzing could occur over no rez land

[2014/12/18 15:25] Jonathan Yap: Simon, did you have any time to think about my question/suggestion on how to solve https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11778 ?

[2014/12/18 15:26] Lucia Nightfire: if they fix that Jon, I hope they fix https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-8029 soon too, esp that exp perms are on the horizon

[2014/12/18 15:27] Hexapoda: There should exist some kind of anti-virus routine that can find bad griefer script and warn user via a Right Click function like "Examine"

[2014/12/18 15:27] Simon Linden: I read your note, Jonathan, and realized I'd have to look back at that message and think about how it would fit in there

[2014/12/18 15:27] Jonathan Yap: (My suggestion was to send a Name packet just before the group invite, so the name cache is properly populated)

[2014/12/18 15:28] Margithe: hmm, sort of as a "run in test environment" hexapoda? Just to check for the most common griefs...

[2014/12/18 15:28] Rex Cronon: i think the owner of land was given a gift that was actually a trojan horse...

[2014/12/18 15:28] Hexapoda: Yes.

[2014/12/18 15:28] Lucia Nightfire: how about a "function usage checker" :

[2014/12/18 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: "This script contains the following functions: "llRezAtRoot(), llRequestPermissions(), llCrashRegion()"

[2014/12/18 15:29] Lucia Nightfire: heh

[2014/12/18 15:29] Hexapoda: Every time I get a gift I has to find a no script zone inside a no entry border.

[2014/12/18 15:29] Hexapoda: Not a easy task in sL

[2014/12/18 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: go to the region, Plum

[2014/12/18 15:30] Margithe: Well it would be kinda enough if it returned things like... " This script rezzes objects, plays sound, has particles" etc

[2014/12/18 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: its scripts are off at teh region level

[2014/12/18 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: its where I go to rez suspicious stuffs

[2014/12/18 15:30] Rex Cronon: i think land owner should be able to set land to dissable some specific lsl function. like the ones used to rezz or to text spam

[2014/12/18 15:30] Theresa Tennyson: Sounds like the allergy warnings on ingredient labels... "This package may contain nuts."

[2014/12/18 15:31] Margithe: " may contain grief , penis and lulz"

[2014/12/18 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: yes, Rez, I filed a similar request

[2014/12/18 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: *Rex

[2014/12/18 15:31] Hexapoda: Maybe LL should do a RezIsland that is divided in to small parcel and if something happens you press a button and all your things is returned.

[2014/12/18 15:32] Rex Cronon: cool lucy:)

[2014/12/18 15:32] Lucia Nightfire: it wasn't considered though, heh

[2014/12/18 15:32] Lucia Nightfire: Land owners will never have any decent resource control on their land, heh

[2014/12/18 15:33] Rex Cronon: guess that is why some move to os grid...

[2014/12/18 15:33] Hexapoda: I did test OS grid, it so empty there is no point to grief.

[2014/12/18 15:33] Margithe: wonder if it would be possible to get a read on some of the script functions, on no mod objects from inventory without running the script. it could be a fairly simple check, just looking for specific lsl

[2014/12/18 15:34] Rex Cronon: a customizable sandbox is much better imo

[2014/12/18 15:34] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, but even if you had that feedback, the usage of said functions coudl still be benign

[2014/12/18 15:34] Hexapoda: And there is not so much grief, it just so it easy to see them and therefor you think about them.

[2014/12/18 15:35] Hexapoda: Land Groups destroy more of SL then Griefers do.

[2014/12/18 15:35] Jenna Felton: Returning the own stuff from the web-site or just finding out at what sim the own prims are located is an interesting possibility, especially if you had a nice crash at the sim border and your airplane landed 5 sims away inside someone's house so you even cant see it

[2014/12/18 15:35] Margithe: yeah but it won't stop people from wearing the stuff their newfound buddy gave them

[2014/12/18 15:35] Caleb Linden: don't take candy from strangers

[2014/12/18 15:36] Margithe: ...but strangers have the best candy...

[2014/12/18 15:36] Hexapoda: Only gey candy from your local dealer.

[2014/12/18 15:36] Rex Cronon: how many people do u think are able to resist not pushing a button that says "free lindens" :)

[2014/12/18 15:36] Hexapoda: get*

[2014/12/18 15:36] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, I see it a lot, even dated accounts that accept stuff from new accounts and in-turn rez it onyl to have it blow up

[2014/12/18 15:37] Hexapoda: "I want a lamp that can rez a Linden when I rub it".

[2014/12/18 15:37] Rex Cronon: people even click on big red buttons that say " click here to crash sim" lol

[2014/12/18 15:37] Lucia Nightfire: Britany Linden

[2014/12/18 15:37] Jenna Felton: what is the first name of the linden who appars above that lamp after rubbing?

[2014/12/18 15:37] Jenna Felton: thanks Lucia

[2014/12/18 15:38] Hexapoda: Ti had been a bummer to rub it and Torley dod come :)

[2014/12/18 15:38] Jenna Felton: only if you have a water mellon with you

[2014/12/18 15:39] Rex Cronon: lol

[2014/12/18 15:39] Lucia Nightfire: Simon, before this meeting snowballs even further, can you whip one of your underlings to update http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:Experience_Tools with that new error code

[2014/12/18 15:39] Lucia Nightfire: that is if you have any underlings

[2014/12/18 15:40] Lucia Nightfire: see, they saw it snowballing and thought "lets get in a quick game of ping pong"

[2014/12/18 15:40] Lucia Nightfire: "they won't even know we're gone, hehe"

[2014/12/18 15:41] Simon Linden: I wish I had underlings or minions

[2014/12/18 15:41] Rex Cronon: u need trolls simon;)

[2014/12/18 15:41] Jonathan Yap: /me sends Simon an intern

[2014/12/18 15:41] Caleb Linden: and ping pong would sound great right now :P

[2014/12/18 15:41] Simon Linden: I did pass that along to someone who's working on the experience tools documentation the other day ... so it's not forgotten

[2014/12/18 15:41] Lucia Nightfire: thanks

[2014/12/18 15:42] Jonathan Yap: Is there any firm news on when we will be able to edit the wiki again?

[2014/12/18 15:42] Margithe: was the chat update today?

[2014/12/18 15:42] Margithe: /me suddenly wakes up

[2014/12/18 15:42] Jenna Felton: is there an other page where that code needs to be noted also?

[2014/12/18 15:42] Duckie Dickins: oh..fun thing this week....would interest list cause an issue with having llPlaySound fire off during the on_rez event? I was asked to help play a sound upon rezzing a christmas card and it seemed to me that llPlaySound was unreliable and would only hear the sound on half of the rez attempts...but llTriggerSound fired off every time. I was thinking maybe the newly rezzed prim hadn't becoming interesting enough for the viewer to play the sound but a disembodied llTriggerSound always worked.

[2014/12/18 15:43] Jenna Felton: i myself dont see any

[2014/12/18 15:43] Lucia Nightfire: thats a known bug, Duck

[2014/12/18 15:43] Caleb Linden: @Margithe the chat update was earlier this week. you got any news on how it's performing?

[2014/12/18 15:43] Lucia Nightfire: Whirls knows the jira number thopugh

[2014/12/18 15:43] Lucia Nightfire: play sound in on_rez is the bug

[2014/12/18 15:43] Theresa Tennyson: Has anyone noticed the color picker dialog in the edit window acting strangely for complex objects lately?

[2014/12/18 15:43] Margithe: No, i just saw a bunch of names being stuck in "loading2 for me so i thought maybe that was that...

[2014/12/18 15:44] Margithe: "loading"

[2014/12/18 15:44] Whirly Fizzle: BUG-8006

[2014/12/18 15:44] Lucia Nightfire: bam

[2014/12/18 15:44] Whirly Fizzle: You guys need a JIRA parser >.< https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-8006

[2014/12/18 15:45] Duckie Dickins: ick..from 2011

[2014/12/18 15:45] Rex Cronon: whirly i think u much better than a jira parser:)

[2014/12/18 15:45] Whirly Fizzle: I mean in the viewer lol. So you don't need to paste the link.

[2014/12/18 15:45] Lucia Nightfire: yeah, I bug her sometimes to find me obscure jiras when I have no luck

[2014/12/18 15:46] Jenna Felton: the code 17 is missing also here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Experience_permissions_denied

[2014/12/18 15:46] Duckie Dickins: well actually the script I used did a llResetScript on rez and played the sound on state_entry

[2014/12/18 15:46] Lucia Nightfire: hopefully the minions will update both, Jenna

[2014/12/18 15:47] Jenna Felton: and here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetExperienceErrorMessage

[2014/12/18 15:47] Margithe: me and Duckie almost had a fight over that one because he'd hear the sound sometimes, sometimes i'd hear it, just bloody random...

[2014/12/18 15:47] Jenna Felton: thats so far i could dig

[2014/12/18 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: I just one of the two suggestions in https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-8044 is considered at some point

[2014/12/18 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: its a mainland problem mainly

[2014/12/18 15:48] Lucia Nightfire: as is most things with experiences

[2014/12/18 15:50] Jenna Felton: that would be dificult to get any experience data when you are not on land that is in the experience because the KV database is not there

[2014/12/18 15:50] Duckie Dickins: aww..I can't add my comment on BUG-8006 because I'm not a special snowflake

[2014/12/18 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: kvp store access is nto part of the equation

[2014/12/18 15:51] Margithe: because it's accepted :P nobody cares about your comment then

[2014/12/18 15:51] Lucia Nightfire: llAgentInExperience() doesn't check teh kvp store

[2014/12/18 15:51] Lucia Nightfire: nor would ExperienceAllowedAt()

[2014/12/18 15:51] Jenna Felton: but where the script could get that information from when the land is not in te experience?

[2014/12/18 15:51] Simon Linden: hmmm, I wonder if that would cause issues ... that's a subtle change in behavior

[2014/12/18 15:51] Duckie Dickins: pft...it doesn't work on state_entry either

[2014/12/18 15:52] Simon Linden: but I can understand you wanting to know llAgentInExperienceAndOnLandThatAllowsIt()

[2014/12/18 15:52] Lucia Nightfire: llGetExperienceDetails() works without the exp set in the parcel or region

[2014/12/18 15:52] Lucia Nightfire: it would work the same

[2014/12/18 15:53] Jenna Felton: hm ok

[2014/12/18 15:54] Lucia Nightfire: I'm in the process up updating an app with the recent changes and that issue is the last problem area

[2014/12/18 15:54] Simon Linden: that will be useful with grid-wide experiences

[2014/12/18 15:54] Lucia Nightfire: estates won't see that problem as they typically have the experience trusted at the region level, meaning it will work over all parcels, unless its blocked

[2014/12/18 15:54] Lucia Nightfire: *explicitly blocked on the parcel

[2014/12/18 15:54] Jenna Felton: perhaps the script could request the data from the sim the script was compiled at and the script knows the sim is in the experiende

[2014/12/18 15:55] Jenna Felton: even when not running on that region

[2014/12/18 15:55] Lucia Nightfire: compile location isn't necessary

[2014/12/18 15:56] Jenna Felton: yes, the script simply needs to know where is the data store knowing about the residents in experience

[2014/12/18 15:56] Hexapoda: I need to go, is this meeting logged?

[2014/12/18 15:56] Caleb Linden: yeah!

[2014/12/18 15:56] Caleb Linden: see you next year?

[2014/12/18 15:56] Rex Cronon: i log it temporarly

[2014/12/18 15:56] Jenna Felton: i will send oyu the log if you like Hexapoda

[2014/12/18 15:56] Lucia Nightfire: the kvp store isn't involved with experience participation

[2014/12/18 15:56] Rex Cronon: for a few days

[2014/12/18 15:56] Hexapoda: It would be nice

[2014/12/18 15:56] Rex Cronon: click on box to get url

[2014/12/18 15:56] Hexapoda: take care and have fun

[2014/12/18 15:56] Lucia Nightfire: thats just a database of user defined data

[2014/12/18 15:56] Jonathan Yap: minutes here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group

[2014/12/18 15:57] Jonathan Yap: scroll down

[2014/12/18 15:57] Lucia Nightfire: you can have experiences without a kvp store and have participants

[2014/12/18 15:57] Rex Cronon: tc hexapoda

[2014/12/18 15:57] Jenna Felton: yes Jonathan, but only when someone puts the log there :)

[2014/12/18 15:57] Caleb Linden: will copy today's banter

[2014/12/18 15:57] Margithe: happy Holidays everyone!

[2014/12/18 15:57] Lucia Nightfire: the kvp store is just an optional storage means tied to an experience

[2014/12/18 15:57] Rex Cronon: happy holidays to u too margithe

[2014/12/18 15:57] Rex Cronon: :)

[2014/12/18 15:58] Lucia Nightfire: I have apps that use it that don't even store user data

[2014/12/18 15:58] Jonathan Yap: Before we split up, is there any news on when the wiki will be editable again by us non-Lindens?

[2014/12/18 15:58] Simon Linden: right, the key-value store is just a feature, not required in your experience

[2014/12/18 15:58] Caleb Linden: i don't have any news on that jonathan. simon?

[2014/12/18 15:58] Jenna Felton: ok, i was just thinking that somewhere must be a database storing what agent is in the experience, so the llAgentinExperience can request that data from

[2014/12/18 15:58] Whirly Fizzle: Theres a new grid status about wiki Jonathan

[2014/12/18 15:59] Whirly Fizzle: [ Ongoing Second Life Wiki Maintenance ] [Posted 3:20 PM PST, 17 December 2014] In October, we discovered an issue regarding the Second Life Wiki (http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2014/10/15/post2378/) that required maintenance to resolve. [2014/12/18 15:59] Simon Linden: Jonathan - I don't have a date, but the wiki people seem to be releasing new security updates faster than we can update ours

[2014/12/18 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: the experience itself stores that

[2014/12/18 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: experiences are sort of liek groups

[2014/12/18 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: thats the best comparison

[2014/12/18 15:59] Simon Linden: it's definitely in the works, however

[2014/12/18 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: while in teh group, you can have permissions auto executed on your char by scripts compiled with the same exp

[2014/12/18 16:00] Jenna Felton: ok, than when you are on land that is not in the experience, the script (when it is running there at all) will have to find a way to request the experience

[2014/12/18 16:00] Jenna Felton: *the needed data from the experience*

[2014/12/18 16:00] Simon Linden: I need to run ...thanks everyone for coming this week

[2014/12/18 16:00] Caleb Linden: thanks

[2014/12/18 16:01] arton Rotaru: happy hollidays and a happy new year everyone

[2014/12/18 16:01] Lucia Nightfire: it can do that already, its just I want to accurately check if they're in the exp first before explicitly requesting perms and getting error codes to know
